it seems that the level of coordination required for this path is utterly PUG-unfriendly.
…just like the Path it replaced.
Hey, atleast they’re consistent, right?
Agree with op. This is just another Arah wich people will only do if they really want the arah armor, want Bifrost, or need dungeon master.
Arah’s a good dungeon… don’t compare it to this :\
you will get it when you learn to understand that warrior doesnt deal the most dps.
Confirmed for injecting false statements to incite arguments and get attention.
A refund for the price you paid for this content pack has been added to you account.
Sorry, for the inconvenience.
This resulted in a deep chuckle…..
It’s also a really infantile thing to inject into a Bug report thread.
Take that trash somewhere else please. If they want to be paid like professionals, they need to do QA like professionals.
yea, on the general forum they imply the large balance patch is the 15th of october. Doesn’t mean we won’t see anything. I just wouldn’t expect much.
Not looking forward to that one either b/c their horrible sPvP team was completely focused on a bunch of eSports smoozing and Apologies for the mere fact that a few Rangers even made it into final tournament teams and had any impact at all. (supposedly taking Warrior’s places?? …which if you know ANYTHING about Anet’s pvp history in the last 8 years, is considered a Cardinal Sin and was what originally caused every single Ranger & Asasn nerf ever in the first game …. “Turret” ranger, dagger S-way, Spiritway, even Bunnyway <— LULZ b/c only warrior are allowed to be good with hammers)
Yeah Pets get a really small HP buff but just wait, there will be 10 different nerfs to everything else we can still do in PvE whether it was a PvP specialty or not.
Why would they be empty? They should be filled with AR.
AR for WHAT???
A lot of us who should benefit in general PvE from upgrading to an Ascended, don’t do Fractals
They can’t charge you for fixes. They can charge you for gems to buy hairstyle.
/thread
…hey Maybe they should experiment /w some Gem-Store “Kickstarters” to fix Bugs?
Let the players directly influence priorities finally instead of letting fluff decide it…
Path 4 seems more difficult but only because there are no common knowledge tactics.
Lyssa is the only fight in that entire run that requires any Thinking at all.
Everything else is just running past the Trash(B/c they’re the only other thing that presents any Non-Facerolling difficulty), and maxing DPS through might stacks.
Oh… and also NOT being a ranger during the Simin fight b/c the stupid sparks always aggro onto your pet then and become 3x harder to wrangle ….which again, is just bad/lazy A.I. programming & design on their part.
This game really just suffers from the lack of trinity
It’s not lack of trinity… it’s just lack of creativity. Look at mechanics in the first game that they could have easily “reinvented” here instead of just piling on big static Hitpoint bars. We’ve covered this whole issue pretty extensively by now. If the Devs haven’t learned anything from it then it’s time to get some new devs and fire the ones who are responsible for stuff we keep seeing in these Streams. Most of them could still be activating skills with their mouse and it wouldn’t impact their “performance” one bit if they understood the complete lack of depth their current mechanics hold. (or maybe that’s the whole point?? …let the conspiracies begin)
EDIT:
Oh look…. that didn’t take long:
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/livingworld/twilight/Dungeon-is-way-too-hard
Looks like we owe Swiftpaw a 6-pack already…
(edited by ilr.9675)
Well….. they did say this latest scarlet path can drop exclusive Skins.
That’s no indicator to what might be a reward for this other tangent….
But it does go to show that they’re continuing to “bring back exclusivity” from Gw1 to Skin/L00t drops just like your old Froggy Scepter and BDS’s of yor. So it’s certainly reasonable to expect some other kind of bonus (like extra drop chances) for any kind of “Hard Mode” modifier.
Didn’t Anet say that they are working on this problem like 9-10 months ago?
No, they just cited Server architecture “reasons” as an excuse….
It’s kinda like that whole Culling problem they couldn’t fix either … until they fixed it.
But that problem they were actually WILLING to fix b/c it made less work for them in the long run. This….. on the other hand, will only make more work for them (any spreadsheeter knows it)
You may not like SAB, but I do
Hrrmm?….. would like to know where you got that idea…
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/livingworld/sab-bts/SAB-is-coming-to-a-close/2936155
Yeah, sure. This designer surely has anything to do with class or skill balance. No he has not at all.
Moreover … the content was not completed even nearly in the stream, although I definitely see where you’re coming from (and I agree). But tbh, I didn’t expect a hardcore path or something. I’ll wait and see first before I complain about how easy the path is, though.
I think you’re kind of missing the point here though. This isn’t about expecting MLG Reflexes and perfect team synch spikes. This isn’t even about Elitism. This is about BASIC …. KITTEN … MATH. I hate the elitism in this stupid forum more than anyone and I’ve taken too much crap from these posters like Nik as it is… But consider for a minute what the focus is here.
What their JOB is supposed to be. …. If people on the Wiki could easily make a better video just b/c they understand how to crunch the stats better, then these guys aren’t doing their JOBS. Their jobs, are to Trivialize their own content as much as they possibly can and THEN learn something from THAT. What are they doing instead?? Going in with downs helmets on and only talking about what they think they’ve learned (without going into a single specific). That’s not Design and understanding your own systems, that’s snakeoil marketing.
I hate to say it too, b/c the first little whiff of bad feedback on dungeons will probably send them reeling back to only making more easy-farm content for 5-year-olds who are just as easily amused by jingling keys … after we spend an entire year begging for them to so much as just look this direction every now and then…. And I really really wanted to be polite about this….
but this does seem like a new low. We were right to mourn Hrouda’s departure.
(edited by ilr.9675)
Percentage of players who play charr and engineers combined. My guess is less than 25%.
Percentage of players who ran TA F/U? Low. I sure hope charr and engineers don’t get the TA F/U fix, where they’re removed from the game and replaced by something from the Living Story.
Rumor has it, Foxes are pretty popular right now.
…tho I’m not sure what they would sound like.
Lol new goal in life….Lure the giants!
But you are right about the Elite and Aggro range.
The Ranger I saw did have a SB and dodged alot….
Are you an bot expert xD?
I used to program some for Quake & a few other Mods…
Even programmed some AI in a few RTS’s that I couldn’t beat myself :p
It’s actually really boring and tedious in practice though…. mostly If(entity.Radius < X+Y * r) or some other conditional varied 20 different ways.
I could probably program much smarter ones than these but I think their existence in general is a cancer in the long run and I report them on a regular basis (not TOO regular, I don’t want to run the risk of being seen as the boy who cried wolf by GM’s who barely even know how to operate their own Dev tools)
(edited by ilr.9675)
the pvp is the most balanced you’ve seen ever? LOL is this your first video game?
…well, compared to PvE it is….
But we don’t get any street cred for arguing that. Only URMAGURD HARCORE1!11!11 forum PvP’ers (which I’ve steamrolled a few times b/c so many of them never actually played Gw1) get points for talking about game balance …. with their cute little quandries about Bunkering & “downed skills aren’t balanced” Talk. Here try these ones instead: “Oh all of your conditions work?? ALL OF THE TIME???” … or “You actually have Devs who care enough to post in your forum about that balance?”.
Honestly, it seems like PvP is still pretty well off in this game. It’s just lacking NEW content (which means you guys are even luckier if you’ve actually been paying attention to this studio’s track record on new content lately breaking everything else that USED to be good).
(edited by ilr.9675)
I was totally expecting an epic bug report about two Shaterers on the ground together like a 2-headed dragon from Zelda ….. so disappointed
Guardians are probably the most difficult ones to tell for sure…. but ALL bots have lots of “Tells”:
- Running always in mostly straight lines and only engaging mobs that come into direct aggro-range with them. (Easily missing easier-to-kill mobs off to the side by mere feet from their aggro-range).
- Always dodging or using Evading skills even when not seriously hurt or even outnumbered. (Shortbow rangers especially.)
- Popping their Elite skill even in 2 on 1’s instead of grouping mobs together before popping it.
- Appear to be wearing Knights or other gear that sacrifices Power for survival when every actual human being is capable of Zerking (or atleast Valk’ing/Assassin’s) every group of mobs when out casually farming for mob drops.
But probably the most FUN giveaway (in my testing) …has been when… you for instance, pull a Veteran Giant into their pathway and just casually leave it there for them to fight. This is the real giveaway…. b/c the Bot will usually just target whatever is closest: usually the endlessly respawning Grubs. And it won’t be smart enough to path away or “run for it”. It will continually rally itself (Necro Bots especially) until it’s downed so much it insta-dies. And then it will usually WP away instantly.
In some cases Guardian & Warrior bots may actually defeat the Giant. But that’s only b/c Guards/Wars are OP in PvE in general (and everyone knows it, haha)
(edited by ilr.9675)
I don’t believe you.
Praising what the game was about and all the potential it still had was easy months and months ago. If you’re wearing out, then it’s because the whole process is running out of road to reverse itself and get better on. For you to praise anything and retain credibility while doing it, there actually has to be lots of tangible examples to point TO. …Those examples are getting few and far between and we both know it. (b/c I cited the ones that used to exist myself whenever I could … So did Erasculio… and a few others here you probably dismiss for the same strong bias that they dismiss you for)
(edited by ilr.9675)
Arena Net: “Why fix the existing content in our game when we can just add more?”
EDIT: I am not actually surprised because I know that somewhere in their stack of papers there is something that convinces them that their game is perfect.
Don’t bring Jackie into this, his hair is immaculate and doesn’t even clip when he’s falling off a ladder.
On a more serious note, I find it rather sad that we’ve never once seen any of their Art direction devs post. Probably the thing Anet’s most well known for ever, is their art direction yet most of the dev posts around here are all about cash shop items and sPvP (what does THAT tell you?).
Did anybody consider that this reduces the dungeon paths available to lower levels
Up/Left was the only path underlevels could really do in there.
I hate everything about TA…. it’s the only dungeon I avoid completely. So I say good riddance. ….But I do agree with the opponents of this plan, that the Dev’s justification (if it can even be called that) is probably even worse balanced and full of buggy logic than the path itself was lately
Forward Up was one of the least played dungeon paths in the game, and was the best candidate for doing something like this.
Yeah that’s what happens when you leave a humongous Mob-Spawning BUG (the spiders never de-spawn like they should) in the game for months on end and never post in the Dungeon forums to address the hundreds upon hundreds of complaints about it
Are you guys going to remove the Altar of Betrayel from the game next???
…we’ve only been posting about the broken Vet Subjugators on it for 2 months now…
How long are you going to keep ignoring our bug reports and then using it as an excuse to replace the content after less and less people do it? ….If no answer to that either, then you better get Hopping (yes, that was a Hylek pun) and just yank Tequatl all that way out of the game right now b/c it’s completely deserted on servers that used to do it every night… (right around the time they were doing Fire Ele, Maw, and Wurm for daily rare chest)
(edited by ilr.9675)
^^^ I’m scared
Me too…. tho’ mostly b/c someone apparently likes Trehearne…
Oh look, more “Go Zerker” or gee tee forward out content.
You can tell b/c they were struggling with it … and taking too long just to kill Vets.
(Not elites… silver/elites took them even longer).
I laughed out loud in real life when they said “It’s more like your Arah paths” …
No it’s clearly not.
Gated everything, to win: DPS trash faster than it can DPS you, no skipping (that’s what they think!), Vet that summons more mobs… (CC’ing it probably won’t stop it…. CC’ing Acolytes & Hypnoss doesn’t stop them from spawning more ever since the latest updates broke them too somehow). Maybe some classes can faceroll their way through Arah …. but they make it take 3x longer than it should when they do….
The only part of any dungeon we’ve ever had hardcore lag in, is the evolved Destroyer in COE. (and that’s b/c they sucked at optimizing lava particles)
Lag rarely comes from the environment, it’s almost always from too many other player Entities with their own Particle effects. So his specs should be trivial in most cases for any 5-man dungeon.
(edited by ilr.9675)
After all, they don’t have Hrouda’s walls anymore.
walls made of bears
.
I’m watching the Dev’s video right now, you can’t skip cutscenes, which means you’ll probably waste 10 minutes worthy of doing something else listening to npcs that you don’t give a crap about. YESSSS. At 16:50ish he says “even our lovely group of coordinate people is having difficulties in keeping something alive”… and then i realize they’re killing normal mobs and no one pulled them together to allow cleaving, and he’s using scepter+gs mesmer… and now i’ve closed the video, what a bucket of kitten.
edit: here’s the link in case anyone wants to acquire brain cancer – http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CbVtyFap1Uc
I just found that on my own as I was bored as kitten and watching Youtube… First thing that caught my eye: 25k hp on a mesmer?? …oh lawrdy, and what he called “DPS”. …I do more DPS than that in full GIVERS gear …. ON A RANGER. Is he in full Sents gear?? I thought Mesmer was supposed to be atleast be on par with +Prec spec guardian. He only switched to the sword like once also…
(edited by ilr.9675)
Becoming “Redundant” would actually be an Upgrage for them /w regards to structures
(which are currently immune to all conditions).
There’s also some entire SPECIES of mobs that are immune to certain conditions/CC’s
…Which Anet originally promised us they wouldn’t do back on Guru & in some Q/A’s prior to Beta over the topic of conditions & specific types of damage being heavily resisted like they were in Gw1. …their quote was something along the lines of “We don’t want anyone to feel like their build is made useless by certain kinds of content”
(edited by ilr.9675)
Tomorrow those won’t drop anymore.
There will be plenty more …. And if you look at say… Queens-Gauntlet & Continue Coins from chest drops, you can see evidence where some of these “trash” drops are taking the place of more important drops such as Silver Doubloons…. & hurting the economy.
A lot of people like to claim that they have their own separate dropping slot on the loot tables but that’s not what the drop research suggests in all cases. There’s lots of areas that Anet is prone to overlooking. Just look at Empyreal shards and how some of them failed to be added to the chests of certain harder JP’s /w “unique chests” at the end. This is the reality of rushed content by the way. They don’t have time to cover every single possible drop tables, especially on unique or scripted drop sources. <— IOW: this is expertise in programming & spreadsheet management here talking … not just some hunch or “Bad RNG” experience…. Most people can’t argue against it.
(edited by ilr.9675)
Spoiled by WHAT??….
All of the content we’ve gotten so far (with the only exception being S.A.B.) is all PVE-ONLY Zerg-Farming grease that requires Zerker’s gear to the specific exclusion of every other Stat set the game shipped with or tried to add. …Along with that, lots of existing content that WAS GOOD, got bugged and damaged by their “2 week” schedules and rushed QA.
How can we be “spoiled” by cheap meaningless content like that which damages the reputation and basic functionality of the original content we bought the game for in the first place??
… The premise of this thread could be analogized by us buying a $6 Deluxe Hamburger and savoring a few first bites only to suddenly be interrupted by the Fry-dunker hobbling out and dumping hot oil on it (that he probably spit in) and then some Paul(a) Deen at a nearby table calls us “Spoiled” when he notices the puzzlement and disgust written across our face…
(edited by ilr.9675)
I think the action of salvaging Over-Supplied crafted-garbage should be the thing that gets Minigames and requires a specific “Discipline” level.
Examples:
- Look how many plain wood dowels accidentally get made and then glut the TP… there should be a way to temp-unlock ability to uncraft those.
- Same goes for Sigils and Blue/Green items (crafted ones only, mob loot exempted!).
- More success in salvaging Inscriptions & Insignia (like GW1)
- Ability to down-tier, or restore the level of an item to the level of the zone it was found in to get things like Iron & Cotton instead of Mithril/ThickLeather
- Co-op activities similar to guild-puzzles but only requiring 2 players out in remote locations to recover extremely rare components or even pieces of a Precursor for the rumored Scavenger-hunt we’re still waiting on…
Lots of other ideas missing from this list
(edited by ilr.9675)
Location, Location, Location.
(no seriously, look where it is…. way off in one of the farthest possible corners of Tyria, a lot like GolemII which also gets ignored a lot and even more so now that it’s so punishing to Melee and especially impossible for a Sword Ranger due to the way they bounce around uncontrollably against it)
I’m just hoping to see some next generation clown cars
We have a winner. Thread can now be locked & stickied
Am I the only one who thinks that’s good?

I only play ranger and have had literally 0 issue with recluses ever… my group normally is a zerker burst guardian, me as a support oriented ranger, a venom thief, a glass warrior, and a pug.
This tells us absolutely nothing about how you dealt with the immense amount of poison & Control Spam in that pop-up “land-mine” laden room…. please be more specific or include a video. Thanks…
If Anet’s solution to buggy content is to REMOVE it, I see terrible things coming for some much loved parts of GW2.
O HAI… U MUST B NEW HEER ….. http://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/Smiter%27s_Boon_%28PvP%29
Too easy as long as you have 2 guardians chain spamming stability boons…
…Too hard if you have any other mix of classes that are generally considered unwanted in dungeons = necro/ranger/engie/etc… …or ones that just make it progressively HARDER the more of them there b/c they’re really redundant: Ele/Thief/Necro
Reflect skills but yeah your point is still valid.
Guardian/Mes/Wars is the best combo for this.
yah i know i edited to try and cover the NEW™ holy trinity there…
(Might stacking / Stabil / Reflect)
Path1 / “Top/Left” Fyonna? … the one with all the Petrify spam Recluses?
Heh, Too easy as long as you have 2 guardians chain spamming stability boons…
…Too hard if you have any other mix of classes that are generally considered unwanted in dungeons = necro/ranger/engie/etc… …or classes that just make it progressively HARDER the more of them there b/c they’re really redundant: Ele/Thief/Necro
Before Anet even THINKS of adding more dungeon paths or tweaking the ones that we already have, they need to do something about the total lack of group-Might buffing & Stability+Reflect options for most classes that aren’t Guardian/Warrior/Mes
(They also need to stop adding content that kills ranger Pets instantly)
(edited by ilr.9675)
Good riddance and burn forever you Awful vegetable maze from hell!
I just wish we could forget the BEEEEEEESSS!
… or complete a jumping puzzle and receive 0-2 fragments (less than .5% of a weapon). The rewards could use their scaling tuned.
There is no “Randomness” between 0-2 on ANY jump puzzle. There are simply a few jump puzzles that got overlooked completely b/c they had special/proprietary chests at the end of them. Every JP chest that CAN drop them, either gives 2-4, or 6-9… we confirmed this on the Wiki already.
I think all the ones that don’t drop them, we’ve already reported to JoshD *(QA)
I’ve noticed this too…. Early on in this update, I noticed we were getting “Settler’s” inscriptions from the Karka chest. I thought that was a really novel way to consistently but still randomly provide a supply of them. Then a week or so ago, those stopped popping from the chest, and we just got the Recipe for it instead. (which I’ve unlocked now on all 3 of my characters that smith weapons).
Cavalier’s, is generally confined specifically to the Temple of Balthazar … atleast according the Trinkets sold there …So, considering just how much more difficult it can actually BE to complete this event compared to Karka (which you only need a marginally competent zerg for), I’d say it makes perfect sense for Anet to be consistent here, and add either the Cavalier’s inscription, or Recipe to sometimes drop from Balth’s temple Chest :p
Laurels aren’t difficult to get, they just take time to accumulate. It won’t be long before people have enough laurels they can easily afford all the infusions they want and still have some left over.
It’s not the “difficulty” of acquiring them … it’s the fact that the slots themselves, are now competing directly a multitude of “Better” choices…. such as heavy T6 bags, Bonding Agents, and unlocking more Ascended Recipes … that all cost Laurels too. The recipes especially b/c it’s possible for a relatively casual player, to acquire enough mats every 5 days, for a new Ascended weapon. And that just kicks the ball further down the road. They never reach a point where it looks like they’ll ever start catching up filling those holes. More holes just keep getting added.
My, my. It’s been around a year now, hasn’kitten Quite a lot has changed. I remember when I bought into this game. I had been interested in it for a while when a friend, which had been here since the beta weekends, offered me the free trial that came with the first Southsun update.
wait …. what?? Southsun? Southsun wasn’t a year ago…. I’m really confused here
RANGER
Hammer-1
Rifle-
Staff(Druid?)-3
Mace-
Sword(OH)-1
Pistol-
Dagger(MH)-1
Scepter-
Focus-
Shield-
Harpoon Gun(Land)-
Spear(Land)-
Trident(Land)-
WHY is there no option of Torch mainhand in this list??
It’s not the only zone, but it’s a good one for it. WPs are close to a city, etc. Of course these mobs can be soloed, we “band together” because it’s faster and more efficient as far as people getting loot. It’s true that this isn’t the only playstyle existing, and no one should be forced into it.
Exactly!… It’s too easy … too rewarding … & definitely too convenient compared to ALL the other content in the game. It should have been nerfed a long time ago along with every other overly rewarding activity that gets abused to the point that it’s hurting the rest of the game world…
well I’m extremely concerned… for the potential of interplay between Scarlet & Mad King.
It was bad enough already that the Mad King was so obsessed with an imaginary pony
(like a certain subset of the internet … which has long since gotten out of hand)
This was my first exposure to it this year…. (I missed the first time it came around b/c I was being lame and playing Planetside instead). The aesthetic really made me feel …. like I was home again. I dunno if it’s a little piece of autism in all of us that just makes it possible to get lost for hours doing this stuff that’s inherently punishing …. yet feeling no guilt and angst afterwards like I often do with a lot of other more MODERN games today.
I only completed the achievements for World1 and only spent enough time in W2 to get the Nunchoku… but it was a great little escape from the temptations to farm or follow an idiotic Zerg around all day in the real game. And I’m gonna miss it a lot until it comes back. …..So much so, I know I’ll be tempted to boot up some old ROMs again in the interrum
Maybe next time I’ll even try Trib mode… (and save up for the infinite coin)
I dont know anyone on another server.
who’s fault is that?
On my server, running champions in Queensdale provides much enjoyment for a large number of people. New and experienced players alike band together…..
You’re “banding together” to smack a Pinata though….
You’re telling us this is the ONLY ZONE you could possibly do this in?
How bad could you possibly be at this game that you need to “band together” for champs that most people could (and often do) easily solo??
(edited by ilr.9675)
Mine sure are….
5 Laurels just isn’t worth it …. even in WvW … I don’t see any point in 1% reduction against something that never posed a real threat to me in the first place. And I don’t play fractals so I see no point in forging those ones either.
It just feels like …. if the generic +4 ones are supposed to be our general-purpose PvE ones??…. that they really failed hard here on the pricing of them. I just can’t justify 5 days of hoarding per infusion when I’ve got a growing arsonal {sic b/c filter} of ascended items rapidly outpacing that horribly meager benefit of filling those slots…. if I for instance filled 5 of them, that’s a whole month’s worth of hoarding laurels, for one third of the +Stats I get just eating a level 80 steak…
Okay maybe these tiny +Stats are permanent, but they add up to so little…. And that’s fine too, we don’t need insane levels of powercreep here. But the COST creep has already gone way beyond reason. When are we getting some other currency access to these? Why not Karma or Obbies or some other lower-demand currency here?
(edited by ilr.9675)
I finished my 3rd piece today and that’s enough of that! Or so I thought.
As I was making the vision crystal to finish off Zojja’s Artifact and it occurred to me that I had collected 1500 of each the bloodstone, dragonite and empyreal mats. Then I had a real wake up moment.
Anet will 99% likely reuse that mechanism for crafting armor, and there are 6 pieces per set, or 3k basic mats needed. If you want celestial ascended armor you’ll likely need at least 30 charged quartz too.
Don’t stop farming now boys and gorillas. We’re not even close to finish line.
I think you’re looking at ratios all wrong here….
For weapons, it’s generally ALWAYS been a 5-1 ratio of the Node mats.
Compare the two by looking at Inscription VS. Insignia.
- Lots of logs & ore compressed into Dowels … 2 dowels if Rare, 5 if Exotic
- a single bolt of Fabric = Insignia.
which one uses more resources currently? … As you get higher into the crafting levels, it’s obviously the Weapons that use the most raw resources. 50 mithril + 120 iron & platinum per Deld Ingot? … It only makes sense that it uses 5 bricks of Dragonite & Empy shards too. And yeah, if you’re a huntsmen then you know we already have the recipe for Elonian Leather. But that doesn’t mean that’s the complete recipe for an Insignia. Expecting everyone to get 60 darkmatter & 30 empyeal bricks for instance for a full armor set, is just insane. …. 30 bloodstone bricks and maybe 30 Darkmatters is reasonable. …but 3000 empyr shards is just ridiculous (even though I can easilly get 200 a day in 2 hours of jp’ing)
