Of course difficulty and role playing elements define what is the MMO genre.Most MMOs are gear based.This means harder difficulty = better loot.This can’t be denied.There are very few MMOs that have different model.GW1 and GW2 are such MMOs.
What makes for instance Rift or Wildstar better than GW2 in my eyes is that i am being rewarded with the appropriate items for my time spent doing harder modes.
If i do ranked PvP i will have the best possible PvP items.
If i do raids i will have the best possible PvE items.
I don’t mind GW2’s model where everything is cosmetic based.But places like Arah/TA:AE/FotM and bosses like Tequatl/Wurm must have better loot.Why AC gives the same ammount of gold as Arah P3?Or why AC gives more gold from SE P2?Or why FotM lvl 50 gives only 1g30s?That is the bloody lvl50 what is that piece of crappy reward?The loot tables in GW2 are just such a mess at this moment.Just throw a look on Wurm and Tequatl…They are consider the equivalent of a raid boss and still they drop….
I like GW2 a lot.I have played 4k+ hours in it.But i’m just not very happy with it’s current direction.It is just not moving in a direction where the veterans can be happy too.It is cattering mostly to the casuals.
So, I’ve been playing through the personal stories again on an alt. If Anet added a feature similar to GW1’s model where you could replay “missions” with a bonus stage and harder difficulty, would you do it? I don’t really want to complain about the new and “improved” rewards, but the various crafting bags were sure nice.
So, if they added one-time better rewards, would you be willing to play through harder personal story missions? They could add bonuses which provide better rewards too. It’s kind of like what they did with the LS and being able to go back and complete extra challenges.
For example, I was playing the mission “Close the Eye” where you had to defend while Trahearne performed his ritual to open it There were tendrils catapulting stuff at you and a small pact squad trying to survive that and the risen army coming for you. There’s all sorts of things that could be added to make things a bit more challenging and forcing the player to be more intentional about their builds and play style. They could make a challenge to not let a single pact soldier go down, or you need to destroy all three catapults before they kill Trahearne, or keep the risen army for crossing some line or the ritual automatically fails, etc.. You get the idea
If they ever improve the AI then maybe they could add a hard mode too. That would also make bonus objectives even harder and maybe more rewarding. Might even put more meaning into some of these PS instead of being able to just auto attack through most of it.
Of course that i would play the harder difficulty especially if i’m being rewarded with better shiny things.
In my opinion if the rewards are not equal to the difficulty curve and time spent then that is not a real MMO.

I think you didn’t understand me when i made a comparison between GW1 and GW2.I know perfectly that they are two very different games.What i wanted to point at is how higher is the difficulty curve in GW1 end game compared to GW2.
Define difficult and we can move on.
The most recent LS episode was challanging, difficult or outright impossible for some people, meanwhile i would say it’s mediocre at best (no elitism included).
So yeah, where should we draw the fine line where we can speak about “difficult”?
If you have played GW1 you should know what is difficult content.Right now GW2 lacks that part.
And about that so called elitism.It has nothing to do with dificulty.Elitism is existing even now.Just look at the speed clearing the dungeons.You can’t say the dungeons are difficult in this game at all.That didn’t stop elitists to pop-up.
Now lets go talk a little about challenge cna difficult content.Such thing was marionete and Queen’s pavilion gold medals.The wurm.Arah and FotM are chalenging content.The problem with GW2 content is that it’s not rewarding at all.Only 1g for SE P2?Or 2g for TA:A?Or some kitten chests with worthles loot form Tequatl and Wurm.
Dificulty and reward must always be on equal foot.At this moment that is almost non-existent in GW2.

I’m playing Rift and Wild star for raid experience yes.And it’s really refreshing.They deliver really hard core experience and content which i was missing from GW2 instances.And i don’t talk about the gear grind.I compare pure mechanics and nothing else.
Because Anet are not capable of anything.
- Can’t overhaul old dungeons
- Can’t fix old dungeon bugs
- Can’t creat new instances because it is to much time consuming.
- Can’t balance the existing dungeon’s rewards
- Can’t make better telegraphed animations
- Every new patch returning old bugs,which were previously fixed
- Anet can only delete dungeons (like TA F/U)
Right now GW2 instances are the worst of every MMO that i have played.Making raids?Don’t make me laugh.I lost faith in Anet PvE team 4 months ago.

If you are talking about Eotm then that is everything else but not WvW.It’s PvD nothing more nothing less.The comanders there avoid the PvP like a plague and just run in one big circle capturing things.Eotm is a WvW map for god sake.It’s not PvE map.Never was and never will be.Farming levels there is just……..

This is the most ridiculous double-talk I’ve ever seen. Legendary Weapons in GW2 are a grind. You’ll be hard pressed to find any forum discussion about them that doesn’t say “grind” or “farm” in it. They are slightly less grindy than they used to be, but this doesn’t change the fact that at their core they are designed to be a ridiculously large item and time sink.

Not one of those holy trinity suggestions again. No thanks, I like dungeons to be simple and fun where most casual group can complete but a real challenge for a soloist. When Arena makes a path difficult, you rarely see any group willing to do them. That’s is not what the player base wants. And the effort Arena puts into making them will be wasted.
I always tell dungeon goers, if you want a challenge, solo it. If you want a group type challenge, go Spvp and enter a tourney. No AI’s will ever be a good enough challenge than players.

In my opinion it’s made like this so E-sports can be easier to watch.Just look the mobas.There are 6 abilities but you can’t move them.The same is here i think.
All it means is that they didn’t design dungeons correctly to begin with.
If the content was fun and engaging, people would be doing it.
I will disagree that the dungeon design itself is poor. Many dungeons are well designed. The problem is the core combat mechanics for running dungeons.
Making dungeons to be fun and engaging would require a drastic overhaul of the core combat mechanics. There are a few fundamental problems. The biggest one being that everyone essentially does the same thing(DPS, with modest support abilities). Another is that dungeons are designed so that pretty much any combination of classes and traits can succeed, so what variance there is between classes further limits your design range.
Sure, you can mitigate this by making fun gimmicks for each fight, but thats just papering over the giant cracks in the system.
Rather, they massively underestimated the players desire to optimize, and their desire to be jerks about it. If you play the dungeons with mixed groups covering multiple styes, they’re engaging fights that require some reaction. that’s not as efficient as realilzing that you can burn down almost everything in those dungeons with pure dps though, so we get all these issues.
If anything Anet blew it by underestimating players desire to maximixe rewards at the cost of evverything else.
This kind of brings us full circle though, with the complaints mainly boiling down to the rewards not being good enough.
Because playing GW2 dungeons is vastly unrewarding. At least it is for the majority of players.
Dungeon armor was “good” rewards for 6 months after release tops.
The “guaranteed 1 gold at the end of a dungeon” update made them appealing for a while but that’s starting to not work as well either.In a game where in order to get the cash to build the ultimate vanity item you need so much gold it translates into thousands of dungeon runs you bet the players are going to want to be as efficient as possible.

When i see guard or mesmer not using their reflects.I will 1st ask them to start using them.If they don’t do it then i will kick them.Guardians and mesmers are for a specific reason in the group.To use reflecs/FB/aegis/portal plus some other things depending on the build they are using.If they are not doing it then they deserve a kick.The only exceptions are newbies with low AP.They can be excused for being a novice and not knowing the game.

When you read the posts carefully, you can see there are 2 different groups and we want endgame content that is way different from each other.There are more than two different groups and that’s a big part of why it’s difficult for us to discuss this (and why ANet has such a tricky time explaining their goals and road map).
If you have read everything that has been written to here you would know what already has been said about having more than 2 groups.So please stop right here.

This would look really nice in solo PvE Content, Dungeons/Fractals and really useful in sPvP.
Looking at huge PvE Group Contents and WvW Fights this would be an absolut horror show. Even with options to enable/disable those bars only for allys or enemies maybe with an additional threshold so only bars of players/enemies with 10% HP left will show up is not that easy to implement.
You basically need to regularly check the surroundings of a player for entities that can lose HP, like you already scan those to draw their names on your screen but it would also need additional calls to the server to get their max. HP and current HP and you also need to draw those bars on your screen.
In a game that already cripples a lot of players pc’s (read as very low fps in huge player groups) that would be a total overkill. Sure there are possible performance options to ease the CPU-Usage down but those things take a lot of time and testing.
If Anet make this like the names UI then it’s up to the player to turn it ON/OFF

I’m rank ~370 and i’ve never seen any commander use the attack/defend/rally icon, and wasn’t aware they even existed. Is there any in-game info these tags exists? Because they sure as f are useful.
When TxS is doing the Wurm those icons for map are some times used.

OP and Elrey give awesome ideas.Comanders absolutely need more options for managing their squads.Also it’s a must to see what classes are in the squad and where are the people.Also better visibility of squad members on the world map and mini map is a 100% needed.
Squad check is everyone ready could be added.
Also could be added similar to THOSE MARKERS

It’s simplea actually.The more competitive players must get things faster.They put a lot of effort in the game.
Casual players should be able to get the same things but on a much lower pace.They don’t play enough so they can’s receive the same reward at the same spead as the hard core players.
For instance in another MMO that people don’t like to be talked about it here,in one of its expansions real PvP players were farming their items really fast by playing arenas.The more casual PvP players like me were receiving the reward slower from battlegrounds.But in the end it was possible to get it.I was farming the currency for the things that i wanted little by little.(And i don’t talk about gear treadmill to be added don’t misunderstand my words)

In other MMOs when you are in the quest area on the world map and mini map pop-ups a coloured circle.Anet could do the same here with the hearts.Make the area in a yellow circle untill you complete the heart.Then the circle will disapear and never apear again.
GW3 will be just like this hehehehe ‘’everything that you loved in GW2’’….

Just compare how detailed are Wildstar Animations to GW2….The comparison is just ridiculous.

Why do i compare those two games?Because they both are action oriented.Nothing that one has the holy trinity and the other doesn’t.
At this moment everything can be dodged and there is no need of interrupts in PvE.Anet have to think for some way to add interrupting as a viable mechanic.For instant those instant killing attacks that some mobs have.Let them be interuptable.Also make them more frequent so people have to work together for removing the defiance and timing the next interrupt if they don’t they don’t want to die.

So, the largest issue I see is that the more difficult content is not as rewarding. Why would I run Arah when I can spam Ascalon Catacombs and get more gold per hour? I’m someone who actually does find the Arah paths fun and somewhat challenging, but the motivation isn’t there. FoTM is a big offender also, with RNG gated rewards. This is not a hard concept and shouldn’t even be a debate. Why would anyone do any content that’s more difficult and less rewarding? If they’re like me, once or twice for the fun but if it the reward is less than that of easier content why would I bother? It’s simple, do more, get more. That’s literally how most things work. Put more in, get more out. It would be really cool if a dev could answer this question: Why does more challenging content often times end up less rewarding than challenging content? What is the goal?

This definitely needs big announcement.The combat log that we have right now is a piece of crap.I don’t know why Anet won’t make a post for it.
No i’m not happy at all.
- More PvP modes and maps
- Re-design the down state.Don’t let in PvP and WvW people to rally.When soomeone is stomped he mustn’t be ressable.If he is just killed and not stomped then he can be ressurrected.
- Add new WvW map.
- Add more guild missions.
- Revamp the squads.Give leaders more controll over them.In other MMOs i can see where are the people.Who is arround me.Who has buffs,potions,food.Add squad UI that could be shown/hidden.
- Allow squad leaders to promote assistans.Give them the ability to move the players between the different groups.To sort the squad the way they want.Right now when i go to a Wurm kill.My leader has to make straight lines of different classes and form different groups by picking the players one by one.
- Revamp the SE – P2 and last boss in CM P2.
- Buff the rewards for TA:A and and FotM(gold and skins).
- Buff the final gold reward for HotW.
- Return TA -F/U with revamped last boss.
- Add one more World Boss from the difficulty of Tequatl and the Wurm.(7 months past without any new raid boss).
- Buff the rewards from Tequatl and Wurm.
- Add the Temples to World boss current timer and rotation.
- Re-design the downscaling.Make it harder for lvl 80 ascendet/exotic geared players.
- Make the mini map to disapear.Right now i hate it that i can’t hide it.
- Make an option to be able to toggle up health bars above peoples heads.Right now i can only turn on names.That’s not enough.
- Revamp defiance.Make an attack that can’t be dodged/blocked/parried/reflected.The only possible way to stop it is by interrupting it.After that people have to remove defiance stacks with cc before they are hitted by the same attack.At this moment almost 90% of the bosses don’t need to be CCed,because you can avoid every their spell with simple dodge/block/parry.Make one that can’t be done that way.That way the group has to interrupt the boss and then if they don’t want to be hit again they have to remove the defiance stacks and interrupt again.And repeat that untill the boss is dead.
- Make boss’s animations more visible and telegraphed.
- Add more mechanics for cc cleansing in PvE.
- Remove the stacking in dungeons.
- Revamp the dodge.Instead of mobs hitting instantly like it is now give me time to press 2 buttons(W+dodge/S+dodge/D+dodge/A+dodge) so i can move in the direction that i want.
- Increase the party votes for kicking to three.

I agree with the OP there must be added specific roles especially for dungeons.Instead 5 zerkers.Add from everything – dps/support/control.
Right now control is used mostly in WvW/PvP(bunkers) and Tequatl as they have a lot of health and are more tankier.
Support is great for when you need more cc removals and healing.
Those two roles at their current state are just useless in PvE enviroment.It doesn’t matter Is it dungeons or Open World.In PvE at this moment zerkers are just the best thing which is stupid.What about the other two roles?Buff the mobs so there can be an actual use for support and control.
I’m still hoping for a districts system like back in GW1, that way people who want full maps to try TT (but not join TTS for it) can manually fill up maps rather than relog and hope the megaserver is kind to them.
I have never played GW1 but what i understood about it is that districts are actully instance that people enter by choosing which one to enter.That is exactly how a raid instance works.I’m up for such thing.That way the group has full controll over their instance.
I think ranked rewards where best way to make events with gradients of difficulty with reward. Or having bosses with guild start settings with difficulties bosses. But people will always complain when they are not able to get best rewards.
Yes. “hard mode” versions/conditions should never give better rewards than “normal mode” versions of them. They can offer more rewards, like two rares instead of three, or a 10% chance of getting a super rare reward instead of 5%, but anything you can get through the hard mode you should have a reasonable chance of getting through the normal mode, because some people want that stuff but aren’t good enough to do the hard mode version, and better that they do the mode they are suited for a few more times to get the loot they want, than for them to bang their head against the wall on the harder version and not enjoy themselves.
Sorry but no.Hard mode and nomal mode are everythink else but not equals.If anyone decides to do hard mode then he must receive appropriate spoils of the war.Hard mode must have better rewards.
What fix?Anet just ported everything from the Chinese version of GW2 to us.

Shatterer into something like that .. raise your voice against it.
In my opinion Anet mustn’t revamp old World Bosses like Tequatl was.Instead they should make new ones that are as hard as those two.Right now other MMOs make raids every often.Some every 2 mothns,other on 4 months and 3rd on 6 months.Anet has added 2 for 2 years…..And right now when a specific raid or boss is out for to much it becomes farmable by everyone because people have the time to learn the fight.Just look what has happened to Tequatl.At the start only a few guilds could do it.Now everyone and their grandma is killing it.It became old content.The wurm is the same.Right now it’s done only by 5% of the population.The rest of the people may be able to have it on farm 6 months later.I don’t see any problem with that.That is how raids go.1st the hard core have them on farm then the rest.

The irony of it all is that anyone can join TTS, download TS, and then get instant-successful Teq/Triple Trouble/Etc raids anytime they want.
tts is a very welcoming guild. They usually want a fresh instance because they cannot include enough people.
If anything, tts are reacting to a problem with megaservers
welcoming, HAH. i joined 3 different iterations of them at 3 different times, the second i represented my own guild, i got booted. if thats welcoming, i don’t want to see unwelcoming
They have rules you know.While you raid with them you are bound to representing the guild.When the raid finishes you can switch to your other guild.If you don’t follow the rules of course that you will be kicked.You don’t even have to represent the guild 90% of the time.They ask you to do it only in those 10% when is the raid going on and if you don’t do it you will be booted out.I don’t see anything wrong here.

In my opinion a lot of people kill the worm.You just have to find them.Stop complaining that it is too hard or something.Worm and Tequatl are simmilar to raids.They have higher difficulty from the rest of the World Bosses.They are made only for those people who are willing to put some effort in them.They are not made for the rest that just farm Open World by zerging the bosses to death by using only one skill.Those bosses need more coordination and preparation than normal.
You need specific food,drinks,gear,traits.Some people may want TS for better coordination.
Rl and officers make the rules of the comunity/guild.You do what they tell you to do or you will be kicked.It’s that simple.If you don’t like how the things are done then just leave.80+ people are giving their best.You won’t be the only exception.You either deal with it or you get lost.Nothing more nothing less.I don’t like to boost people and i’m not supporting suh play.You either give everything from you or you don’t.AFKers/Leachers are just not welcomed.

Not impossible to do it the latter way though. you just need to explain what people should expect and make sure everyone is organized before they start panicflailing.
Not only that.In this moment the squads are limmited only to 50 people.When you have 3 squads the chat is not linked.Yes you can tipe in guild chat but meh.It won’t be the same as one global squad chat that conects the different groups.Map chat won’t do the work.I don’t want the whole zone to listen to me.Only the people that i’m raiding with.

Then all of those that can’t do it should create a guild and do the event. It’s not on farm status because it requires more coordination and timing unlike Tequatl which is still a map wide zerg fest.

Or, you know, go to every map and do map chat to call on people and organize a raid by yourself… Your raid, your rules. You don’t like Teamspeak (I don’t know why it is such a big deal)? Don’t use teamspeak on your raid.
Or are you one of the persons that QQ but doesn’t want to take action by themselves? (ie: people who are complaining that zerk groups doesn’t want to take non-zerk in when they can look for their own group)

TTS does that when they can’t reach the number of people needed to organize a run.
Problem with you is that you want to join the run but doesn’t want to play by the organizer’s rules. Then when presented with another solution, you QQ.
Let me get this straight – So basically, you want to join TTS organized raids, without either joining the guild or using TS or both. In short, you want people to carry you (since you’re not fully committed to the organized run).

I still don’t understand why Anet didn’t allow us to make 80+ groups.That way the controll over the group will be perfect.I and 80 other people came prepared we are not here to boost anyone.We are here to kill a boss with precision.
I really like the direction they have taken with the megaservers.Soon we will be able to move our entire raid in the same map from get go.Right now we still some problems with moving our entire raid(100+ people) in the same zone/map.

Of course that is how a raid works.What do you expect?There are rulles that have to be followed.Those rules are made by the RL and everyone else has to follw them.If someone doesn’t like what the RL and assistants do it’s his fault.You joined a raid group that is not yours.If you don’t like it deal with it or make your own where you can say what will happen.It’s simple as that.
Only GW2 right now doesn’t have neither party leader nor RL.So there isn’t much controll over the group.It’s so limitted actually.

owner of guild wars 2, you don’t own the pixels on the screen and you don’t get to decide what happens with changes in the game. The change is going through no matter how much you complain and you have literally no say in it. No amount of your arguing with almost everyone in this thread and being rude to everyone here (despite stating how EVERYONE else but you is rude) is going to change these facts. However, when you do decide to create and manufacture your own MMO, feel free to add these changes to it.

I totally understand the OP and we all know he is talking about the TTS guild.
These guys are like poison for the multiplayer aspect of the game..
They spread their guys out to find THE MAP, collect their guys and leech out
maps that are almost full.That leaves people back with 15-20 players not having any chance to beat Tequatl or the Worms. Usually these are the people who waited for 40 minutes in a map to play a successful event.
Behavior like that belongs forbidden or somehow denied by A-Net.
You know things are wrong when people come into a map and ask “is this run by TTS?” and leave if it is.
I really feel bad for the people who waited such a long time just to be betrayed by a gang of clowns with a Team Speak server.Please A-Net do something about this situation,the comunity is already poisoned.

Sorry but the game is already too casual.Why there can’t something harder for us too?I know atleast 4 Europe comunities that are doing the worm just fine.If you are not part of them then you have to try harder to get into their guilds.
When TxS is doing a run we want it smooth with experienced players.People being on TS listening and doing what is told to them.People coming with food and drinks.Good gear.They must know the fight.Yes the fight needs preparation.If you can’t do it then find someone who can.Not everything in this game is for the casual player.
I like the worm as it is.Why?Because i put an effort in it.You must do the same.Not every World boss has to be like the rest.Killed by numbers without 0 strategy only pressing 111111.
It does need the coordination that teamspeak brings. It does need people who know it. It does not need one guild ( I know of about 3 that do it regularly though). Get two others and a teamspeak channel and you too can have an overwhelming number of people to do it with.
it certainly needs some coordination but at present its either “use our products and our guild recogniton and do as we say or dont do the content” thats a problem
and i think your oversimplifying the problem if your telling me to get 2 other ppl and a teamspeak channel, im certain not every1 on the map needs to be in teamspeak for even the most complicated games ever made
Yes it is for people who want more chalenging things.So you either do what the RL is telling you or else….
Raids were always like this in every other MMO out there.They have alwasy been the exclusives for 1% of the population.Get on TS.Know the fight.Come prepared with food potions,gear.If not you will be kicked.You don’t like it?So what?That doesn’t matter at all.80+ other people are doing what the RL wants from them.You won’t be the exception.
Then all of those that can’t do it should create a guild and do the event. It’s not on farm status because it requires more coordination and timing unlike Tequatl which is still a map wide zerg fest.

Yes make your own guild.If you are not accepted in any.The question is why you are not accepted in that 1% of the guilds?

I don’t want to see anemy names.Will be a lot better if their health bars are shown above their heads.
