I was under the impression that the dragon ball acheivments were not included in the over achievment to get the wings, and if my math is correct that means we all have to wait untill the next part of the story comes out. i have all of the pve achievments up to now.
What’s currently ruffling feathers is that without the Dragon Ball achievements you can get 8 or more. So if the patch had actually lowered the number required from 10 to 8 folks would have these wings already. But for now, yeah, everyone’ll just have to wait another day or so to complete the little snippets of story that are released.
Or maybe dodge?
The mob can choose to knock you down with every attack. Every. Single. Attack. No cooldown. I guess you’re so pro that you have 35+ dodges to deal with that, hrm?
Perhaps you should try some reading comprehension before you go posting on the forum next time.
Hey, awesome. Hostility.
I’m not sure what reading comprehension you are thinking I lack when this very thread’s OP suggests that they do this knockdown with only some of their attacks. Others even point out not noticing it. I sure didn’t have knockdown issues when I played the instance.
There’s no entry for these enemies yet on the wiki that helps players by listing their attack skills.
And since I cannot replay it, I cannot get in there to sit on a thug enemy in melee range and give the attacks 100% attention.
Because you think they knockdown on every single attack, though, I totally should have read your post after making mine so that I wouldn’t suggest to dodge (since blind was already suggested) a melee enemy!
edit: What’s more, you can dodge attacks bey not being in range of them as well! Give that a try if they’re a pain -- the friendly NPCs can take shots to the face instead.

Or maybe dodge?
I know what they mean with "unique" here, but that’s possibly an effect of being someone who’s played games for quite a long time.
"Unique" for armor and equipment would be more salient if you were not able to purchase additional copies off vendors -- if the check can be made at the equip screen, perhaps it could also be made at the purchase screen. As I recall, this is the case in other MMOs, or at least a couple of them. Perhaps the team would have the time to add this merchant feature.
Given the track record with bugs, I’d wager it’s equally likely that the bug wasn’t fixed as it is the display just wasn’t updated properly.
Yet another reason why the GW1 festival hat merchants’ trade should have been passed down through generations and kept alive in modern Tyria.
Either way, the screens and item links I saw weren’t appealing to me, so this won’t affect my skin choices.
But I do feel that all MMOs that have a cash shop should strive to maintain ways for players to acquire character customizations both in-game and out-of-game.
Ideally, you could leave minipets in storage and just select from your collection, perhaps in the hero screen or, as you say, with a smaller UI button.
I have no desire to add additional buttons for food and buff items that are easily accessible in my inventory, but I sure can understand why folks would want them. UI customization is a good thing.
I mean, a track race? Which rewards you for playing more? (Just. Need. Three. More. Tickets. For. That. Higher. Reward. Just three more, c’monnnnnnnn Meeeeeep!)
Please do the math:
1 Ticket -> 20s
3 Tickets -> 60s
7 Tickets -> 140sThe amount of silver per ticket stays the same, no matter how much you are winning.
You are quite correct.
I suspect the original sentiment of the post can be seen when we consider the payout for first place end even second place is a net gain compared to the cost of a single bet. This encourages players to toss their silver at Tigg in the hopes of getting some kind of a streak and making a little gold. Pair that with the achievement that keeps players there for three wins (potentially giving them a taste of how lucky breaks can pay off or creating a situation wherein a player tries to recover losses by betting some more) and you’ve got a recipe that hooks folks wherein NPCs happily help them part with their money.
Hopefully that’s what the other poster meant, otherwise there may be more factors than gambling behind players losing money.

lol
SoS, did you secretly put one of those child leashes on us so we wouldn’t get too far?
Have fun, kill bad guys, loot bags.
For whatever reason, it’s based on dawn in the day cycle of whatever server you’re on at the time. This is far more difficult to predict than real-world times, and probably a little frustrating when you get onto an overflow.
I question the reasoning behind it and why that wasn’t told upfront, but there should be ample time to get it over the next few days if you have not gotten to dawn yet on your current servers.
Let me explain how this works.
The firework event cycle (them happening every two hours) was started at 9:00 AM PDT. The event itself is tied to the ingame time and will happen at dawn (ingame). So your fireworks might not have happened yet, as it is not dawn ingame.
Apologies for us not communicating this more clearly. But the fireworks will happen every two hours over the course of the weekend, so plenty of time to marvel at them and get the achievement.
Well, that sure explains a lot. Unfortunate that we didn’t know that ahead of time, but thanks for the information! I think now folks looking to see them or to get the achievement will be able to have a better idea of when as a result.
1) I’ll spare the math but It would take our company about a year, with everyone dedicated to testing 8 hours a day, 5 days a week, 50 weeks a year to get as much testing time as happens in about an hour in the live environment.
This one is difficult to swallow.
There are behaviors/bugs in gameplay that certainly don’t look like things that need anything more than one player and some enemies to test. Some of these have been highlighted and mentioned in this very thread. It’s rather easy, from the player perspective, to assume that testing procedures are inadequate. It sure doesn’t help when events go live and fizzle and when some of the reported bugs have been in the game for months, perhaps even since launch in a few cases.
How can you help?
- Give details and don’t just assume we know. I see the following lot: Please fix the game breaking <something> bug so I can play again. Those posts are frustrating because there is nothing we can do to help that person as they have provided no details.
- If you are experiencing a bad bug likely other people are as well, make sure to bump their thread with your own details, instead of starting a new one as bigger problems can then rise to the top.
I really hope folks take this to heart, however. It’s always helpful when users provide as much feedback and information as possible — this makes it easier for the developer to attempt to replicate the error or to consider special cases and, as a result, track down potential aspects of the code that may be related. Hopefully with the number of players willing to help out others on the forum some of the threads created that are a result more of a misunderstanding or user error can be handled for you all, but in any case I know how difficult it can be to get messages from users stating something is “broken” and providing nothing beyond that.
This goes for in-game reports, too.
The achievement for wins should have been the only reward beyond candies and coffers, in my humble opinion. OR, they could have made an achievement for playing one round, like with the crab game. And maybe added one for, like, rampages and whatnot.
Requiring 20 games for the "I participated" achievement encourages a lot of players to AFK. I played 10 games last night, but there were several 5v3 and such matchups in between the good games, so I went to do something else.
See you all in the arena.
It looks like the Ubuntu logo to me.
haha, That’s what I thought when I saw it, too.
wow, i never knew there was a limited time period for this..that kinda sucks.. i did get my mini but this is just unacceptable
Yeah, man! Thanking players who’ve purchased gems with cosmetic gifts based on a nine+ month period is totally unacceptable!
:V
Thanks for the minis, Anet.
GW2: in which even the developers don’t know when features will be added?
That’s the point of the thread, though -- to get them to enable that like how we had it in GW. Hence the "when", not a "can we".

Moving around existing UI elements and having control over where they are placed on the screen does not have to involve any client modification or third-party tools.
There are a lot, but for now what popped up in my mind was protecting Webb in Kessex Hills. I highly recommend it, if you care about fluff about NPCs’ stories and lives. Find him around Fort Salma and give him a hand in picking up some of the lost pieces of his life.
In addition to being able to move all elements of the UI if I wanted, I would also like to be able to close things in the notification area at my desire. I don’t need to have text about Southsun visible all the time, I don’t always care to see my progress on daily/monthly achievements, and if I am not doing personal story I might not care to always see the next story waypoint/objective (though this is less an issue now that I finally drug my 80s through Arah).
There should be a dedicated quest log wherein I can select what gets tracked and what does not.
The map can be moved from top to bottom, but the tracker insists on staying up top. On the other side of the screen, at least the party window will swap with chat. Regardless, that is faaaaar from giving us customization.
All elements of the UI should be moveable at the very least, ideally scalable as well. This is another example of the UI taking steps backwards from the predecessor.
If you actually care about being on a leaderboard for pressing buttons in a video game and getting achievement points, then you probably also are the type of person who thinks those who’ve been playing longer are automatically better. So I guess I don’t see the conflict.
But seriously who cares? Achievement points don’t really mean much of anything other than "I did stuff. woo!"
Anet has already said its coming be patient
That’s nice if it’s true, but it’s still a shame they didn’t take more of the good elements of the user interface from Guild Wars and implement them from the start here. I’m not even trying to make a “waah this game should be more like GW” point — it just makes sense to me to take the good ideas from your own work and improve upon them when making another game.
Visiting an NPC is so very lame compared to being able to tweak your traits on the fly akin to how attributes were handled. Doubly-so when we can’t save our liked builds.
If you’re only getting armor and weapon skins so that others look at you, you’re not doing it right, in my opinion.
Also it sounds like a personal problem if you somehow feel weaker as a human warrior standing next to norn or charr. You should be stronger in your conviction and self-image. Even a fierce asura warrior could make those races back away. Your strength is in how you lay to waste your enemies and protect your allies, not your stature.
Woo, more sylvari necros! <3 Killeen
Funny thing is, asura (both male and female) actually HOLD THEIR GREATSWORDS UP!
Unlike human females who look like they can barely lift their greatswords, when walking with them it looks like they are dragging their greatsword over the floor.
I love how asura run with the greatsword kind of supported on their shoulder, like how humans do when walking (not running).
I am also a huge fan of the dagger twirls when idle.
I wish character creation would allow us to choose which sets of animations we wanted, though I am sure others prefer it being based on race like it is.
edit: I may just have to make more asura, I guess.
(edited by synk.6907)
You go the same speed. Enjoy your placebo.
Do you even know what the word placebo means?
Yes, I do, which is why I chose to use it. Often comments about asura being "quick" or charr being slow or whatever leads me to believe folks are happy in assuming something exists that does not, i.e. a "cure" for the slowness of other races. I find it a pretty amusing reason to claim a race is better.
Still, animations are, in my opinion, a pretty important reason for picking a race. If the perceived speed of asura actions works for you, enjoy it, I say.

This isn’t even my final form! I use this form to conserve my power.
edit: Aww, it seems to not be online anymore; I was going to link to Buttlord GT
hmm… they removed my screenshot of the map that showed all the BoFs.
that’s an odd thing to do…
You mean the one that’s still in your OP as an attachment? Or did you add another?
Yeah, I never saw anything for putting settlers on the ship or indicating an alternative from the contracts achievement we’ve had listed since the initial update for this all. I’m going to have to mark that down as you imagined it. :P
Mesmer - 80
Thief - 80
Warrior - 80

Ranger -- deleted a few times after getting to about 20-25
This is a pretty basic kiting fight with the need to swap mines from red to green. He’s basically no more challenging than any other hammer-wielding foe, aside from having to be walked or sat over a green mine. The "constant knockdowns" are completely avoidable. The first time I did this, I did it with a necro, so I’d wager the OP needs to work on evasion.
As for the chat cues -- sure, it’s disappointing. Just having the voice actor say a line or to have the mines themselves make an activation noise would probably have been better, but at least they decided to tell you. Most enemies don’t tell you when they’re firing off an AoE or whatever, aside from the large red circles all over the screen. Even here, Canach stops chasing you to go into an animation/pose, and the circles around the mines change to indicate where you shouldn’t be standing. I suspect there would have been a ton of threads about "waah, it’s too hard to know when the mines are going to explode" from people who couldn’t look at Canach and see him standing still/see the circles on the ground to know what was going on without the reminder. Perhaps it was even added in last minute because of that worry.
Can this be considered as an exploit? The player should be forced to run around and dodge roll mines.
lol? If an encounter is easy enough to do standing still, I would think it would be better to ask for a more interesting encounter to make up for it being so easy than to imply people are exploiting by playing the game normally.
After the Molten Facility, it looked like to me Canach was made as an extremely easy, solo-able fight for folks who wanted to see the story/some closure on Southsun without having to group with people (since that seems to have been a problem for many?) while Null gives the rest of us a more engaging boss.
You go the same speed. Enjoy your placebo.
I got an abyss during Headstart.
I sold it. It was going for a mere 3g at the time.
I didn’t think that through. I mean, no one had any money, but it would have been far smarter to keep it until folks did have money rather than jump at the money for trait books.
For more info -- commander icons are still being drawn, but they are being drawn underneath the corresponding players’ green dots. I assume the same is happening to blue dots for party members, but since they are the same size all we see are the green dots. The commander icons are large enough you can see some of their corners poking out from under the green dots.
Jade Quarry is the primary WvW server, I believe.
How can their be a primary WvW server? That makes no sense. If one server were the primary WvW server, then that server would always been in first place...and that wouldn’t really be fun for anyone. No challenge makes for dull PvP. It’s rivalries that make all the difference.
I think there’s be a top 3 servers, but I’ve been in tiers 1, 2 and 3 in WvW and any of those 9 servers would be fine for WvW.
Just a comment, I’m in Henge of Denravi and I’ve noticed that if I am in a party and a party member goes to WvW, if I mouse over their party profile picture it will say something like WvW, Jade Quarry.
That’s a weird bug. On Crystal Desert, my friends have said I show up as on Henge of Denravi with the mouse-over, actually, when I head into WvW maps. I am curious if it’s ever claimed other servers. The Party UI is a little dumb sometimes.
In any case, there’s no primary WvW server, though some worlds have far more active wub-wub players than others.
edit: https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/gw2/What-is-this-in-guild-roster
In that thread it was suggested that some servers are dedicated WvW servers with respect to hosting the maps and communicating with players’ clients. *shrug* I don’t work for Anet, and I made the assumption that they weren’t doing it that way. Perhaps they are, though!

If you mean for the achievements and not the world-completion, I found the best way to check was to go zone by zone and check the uncovered white area names on my game map with lists available on map sites / the wiki. For each of the exploration achievements, I had one or two of those that I didn’t uncover despite thinking I had explored maps completely, and I was able to find them easily by doing this comparison instead of running around looking for spots on my map.
If it gets threads like these made, it probably was worth it.
Also bummer -- did that happen today? I missed a chance to see that.
Anyone knows if there is /stuck function like in DAOC ?
All /stuck does is display a message that your position has been recorded and tells you to use the nearest waypoint.
The 5 on 1 gank on a CAMP member in the video sums this thing up well.
Also stop clicking your skills X_X so painful to watch. (rebind 7,8,9,0 to something more reachable)He isn’t clicking his skills, all are keybound.
Then why do the tooltips pop up as if a mouse is being drug over the toolbar and the ground-targeting circles appear down at the toolbar before being moved into position?
Think of stonemist. After you waste a ton of supply and siege to take it (see: earning it), and then once you take it the entire enemy zerg is still within the walls, they can just slaughter you and wait for righteous indig. to go away and flip it again.
I wouldn’t call leaving enemies alive inside "earning it". Especially if they defeat you and flip it back. You clearly didn’t earn it then.
Additionally, if a server’s got a large enough force to take SMC or a keep or even a tower and leaves an opening for a mesmer to bring folks through, then you didn’t really earn the objective, imo.
Also to the AoE comment (5) -- if the folks on the ground are giving you a lot of AoE, why are you not giving it back to them? Your forces should still be able to get siege up in useful places, and hitting people from on the wall should be easier. Maybe you’ve been outnumbered.
(edited by synk.6907)
For the mesmer (as the engi doesn’t seem to be doing it): I watch this and cannot help but think how much better you would be if you weren’t a clicker. At the very least your area targeted spells would be far quicker.
(edited by synk.6907)
CD’r here, wishing the fine folks of SoS luck and fun this week. Maybe it’ll be more entertaining for you all now that you’re free of the months of stomping us and SBI. Remember us fondly as you meet new enemies in battle!
my friend is already a mesmer and doesen’t want me to make one.
lol
Don’t let anyone stop you from playing a class if you want to play it.
I had more fun leveling thief and guardian than ele, so I would say craft an ele to 80 and play the other two.
As to your ranger: If you like it, keep it. You don’t have to have a thief or whatever if you’re running out of slots. You can always make one later.
Hide in Shadows (thief) doesn’t cleanse it. As kokocabana says, I suspect this is because it’s a "new" type of burning that none of these skills are coded to handle.
Medium armor -- I hope you like trenchcoats
ffffff
For dungeons, since you can party and play these with anyone on any server currently it’s not too bad getting groups with gw2lfg.com, provided you have no problem with alt-tabbing to check listings and playing with random folks. I suspect once we get an in-game tool it will be even easier.
As for questing and dynamic events, I originally listed some servers but then realized I was listing quite a lot. From my own few times guesting and chatting with players from other servers, it’s my impression that there are a lot of active NA servers.
For what it’s worth, Crystal Desert, where I am, always has crowds at the big events, and for leveling the human zones never seem to be empty. It’s gotten a little quieter in other zones, but there should still be people in each map.
(edited by synk.6907)
I would love to see more weather in the world. Even a little rain here or there or early morning fog would be neat.
This is a good idea. I have seen how it works in games like DotA, so it seems to be something that can gain traction and become a success. And in any case more skins for folks to further customize characters is never a bad thing.
