Just an extra fact here: LS hasn’t touched Orr. At all. In fact, The only changes it had were the loot buffs and nerfs that revived, then killed all interest in Orr.

As for a “cleansed Orr”, it will never happen. Zhaitan isn’t dead (he clearly faked his death; he died too easy in that scene), teq’s rising proves that the risen are regaining its strength (or something), and Orr will never change. Why? 5 answers: Balthazar, Dwayna, Melandru, Lyssa, and Grenth. These are meta events that the most loyal of players visit daily.

My proposal: buff loot
goal: by improving rewards, you can get more people to play WvW

Reason: the loot that you can get from players is horrible. Given how much effort to kill a player, it is downright criminal to be rewarded with junk (especially gray items. Eww)
Why: anyone who starts eotm would want to be rewarded well for a kill. Junk items turn them off instantly
risks: arena net doesn’t have the I.Q. to execute a loot buff. Only loot nerds.

Simple answer: most enemies do so much damage it makes defensive stats mostly useless. It is a “kill them fast or get killed” situation. There is also a thing called “dodging” that exists in the game, where a timely dodge nullifies all damage that would otherwise kill you.

I only have two things to say here.
1. Introduce rewards that can be earned/found in certain fractals. As a “bonus”, the swamp fractal has no unique rewards that can be found in it (but in other fractals only. People will kill for a mini Mossman)
2. more “additional rewards” in the fractals. As of now, only the volcano fractal has an extra chest in it

Fractals: well for starters you need to buff the rewards. This includes:
-making the fractal weapon chests actually real
-double…actually triple the amount of money we received from doing fractals
-reduce the number of dredge in their fractal
-increase the rate in which fractal weapons actually drop
-more uses for pristine fractal relics
-remove more dredge
-numerous bug fixes
-address abnormal health pools of all enemies
-and a lot more. Read the forums people

The fractals themselves need some kind of lore. (Not including the newer fractals). And rewards that makes the fractals worth something. For once.

No Tengu have been featured in any living story events. What makes you think arena net is going to involve Tengu now? I’m willing to bet that the Tengu npcs are still going to say the same thing before and after LA armageddon. In fact, I don’t think arena net acknowledges their existence in the first place

Wow…so many assumptions about the first few weeks about tequatl and they are all false.
-nobody complained about difficulty. Nobody complained about overflows. Everyone complained about the TIME LIMIT.

So, if they’re gonna nerf crit damage and zerks in general……what build(s) are we supposed to use now? Is Anet even aware that the reason why zerk is picked over everything else is because everything else is crap? How in the world are we supposed to do dungeons if we can’t do enough damage to kill them before they kill us? They need to fix the reasons for the need to crit, not crit itself. Otherwise, X is going to be the next OP thing, and everyone is going to complain about X wars 2. Use X or gtfo.

The two main areas for discussion will be Horizontal and Vertical progression, however please understand that the commentary and ideation we are really looking for regarding vertical is around its accessibility in game.

To clarify I am looking forward to hearing the communities thoughts on speed of acquisition such as how long crafting time takes? or drop rates in fractals and other areas of the game etc.

Funny how you bring drop rates into this, because drop rates are TERRIBLE.
-The drops you get from fractals are, lets face it, really bad
-In the time span that you complete the fractals, you could have run CoF p1, SE p1 and p3, and beat up some world bosses (including Tequatl) for much more cash
-Fractal rewards are extremely underwhelming compared to Open world
-Fractal weapon boxes never drop. Ever.
-And much more

Of course, this thread is about progression, so lets shift gears for a moment:
-The whole point of ascended gear, in general, is to let you get farther into the fractals. Why do we have to spend much more time OUTSIDE of fractals to get our gear?
-Why is “Being filthy rich” a close synonym for “progression”? The only way to get things you want is to buy them.
-Why is RNG so closely tied with “progression”? We should be earning the stuff we want, not winning lotteries.

We need to make progression more meaningful; what we earn shouldn’t be bought anymore. Some suggestions here:
-Make open world bosses much more rewarding (ATM the Karka Queen is the “best” world boss in terms of rewards)
-Introduce unique, account-bound or soul-bound drops that can only be obtained by world bosses (Tequatl’s hoard is a step in that direction). The dragonite ore and the special exotic drops don’t count here. They can be crafting materials; however,
-if it is a “buyable” crafting material, then it needs to drop in large numbers (example: 2-10 Vicious Fangs from the Jungle Wurm)
-if it is a “non-buyable” material, then it needs to be craft able into something useful and valuable, to an extent. IT BETTER NOT BE MORE BLOODSTONE DUST.
-Make home instances more like GW1’s HoM; we want to be able to reflect on our achievements.
-Put in guild houses; a lot of us would kill for those
-Most important of all: either make better loot actually drop more often at higher fractal levels (and increase fractal weapon drop frequency too while your at it), or allow us to use Pristine Relics to buy things besides rings (Fractal Greatsword for 100 Pristine Relics, anyone?).

Too bad that if your reward level was only 2, and you did a level 40, you only get level 2 rewards. The biggest kick to the nuts here is this: your reward level will only go up by 1.

Funny that you say that, because I just realized that the game categorizes “dungeons” and “fractals” as two different things. Do the developers think the same way too….?

Because nobody was interested about such a thing. Nobody brought up the fractals in any of the CDI’s.

I think the whole point of this update is to get people to do the fractals again. They must be getting sick of the zerg trains at Queensdale and Frostgorge. But, its their fault: they introduced new rewards that were the same quality as the rewards in fractals, but made them far too easy to get.

EDIT: the champ boxes will still be better than the fractal rewards afterwards, unless they make it much more easier to get the unique drops from fractals and make them tradeable, which I’m willing to bet they won’t do that because of “elitists.”

There is no bias toward any type of criticism/discussion as long as it is productive.

As i mentioned we need to have more focused topics and more time to be able to fully enter into the discussion. This is something we are actively working on.

Please do not try to derail a thread about how we can improve by building arguments around assumptions.

Finally this initiative is extremely important and should be treated with respect with the focus on evolving a great game. And the first round of CDI around Living World was extremely useful in this regard. Let’s make it better as we move forward.

How would you suggest this be done? Short of quoting every post and replying read I don’t really see how this would be possible and all that would accomplish is double the length of the thread.

Not to offend, but you are thinking of an overly complicated solution. There is a much better, and easier, solution: modify the “+1” system, so that ANet employees have an option to click a button to show that they have taken notice of the comment. Think of it as the opposite of the infraction system; if the comment is any good, it gets marked to show that an ANet employee likes the idea.

Fyi I’m talking about infused gear with an additional +5 infusion slapped onto it, meaning my rings give me 10 ar each. I’m going to lose some ar, and that is just BS

When will you look at the traits that involve weapons? I know that this update isn’t going to look at those, but these traits, I feel, need to be looked at:

Axe traits: horribly outclassed by other weapon based traits
-warrior: meh overall, but there are better traits.
-ranger: extremely weak. No ranger out of his or her right mind should take “Honed Axes”, considering how weak MH axe is
-necro: best axe user; only has 1 trait, and it works well
Dagger traits: okay for all, except for rangers, who almost never use daggers (at least that is what I observe). Also, no trait that directly affects dagger for rangers is a sign of a bad weapon
Focus traits: Guardians are getting screwed here; they only get cooldown reduction, while the others get something extra. Elementalists don’t have 1 single focus-related trait; they have four! one for each element that is…
Greatsword traits: Most of them outclass other traits by a mile. The biggest offender is “Forceful Greatsword”; it is grandmaster level, but can be acquired at master level, which makes no sense. Ever hit a bunch of foes with 100B? You can get max might stacks from using just 1 skill. Easily the most broken trait (for warriors) in the game IMO.
Hammer traits:
-warrior: patch is looking at that already; however, “disabled” needs to be clarified
-guardian: I was going to say Glacial Heart sucks, but it doesn’t.
Harpoon gun traits: fine as they are, even though they are lackluster
Longbow traits: warrior getting nerfed here (Thanks?), Ranger still weak
Mace traits: they’re actually fine. The real problems are:
1. mace MH for warrior is getting nerfed, for no real good reason
2. maces, in general, are WAY TOO SLOOOOOOOOOOOOW.
Pistol traits: they’re okay too, except for engineers; there are four pistol traits in just ONE trait line. Can’t coated pistols go somewhere else?
Rifle traits: Engineers are suffering the same problem with their pistols: all rifle-related traits are stuffed in only 1 trait line. Why? Do rifles really need to be restricted to the firearms trait because they’re “firearms”?
Scepter traits:
-Elementalist: You think “Vigorous Scepter” would grant vigor on crits, but NOPE. Why doesn’t it do that?
-Necro: Is it me, or Lingering curses only affect Scepter 1’s chain? Couldn’t it be “Increase condition duration by X% while using a scepter” instead? This trait needs to be looked at; Lingering curses doesn’t effect the conditions caused by Scepter 2 at all!
Shield traits: Why do they have the same description for Engineers, Guardians, and Warriors, yet Engineers and Guardians have it on Master tier? You know this is adept tier, right?
Short bow traits: Can they have additional effects; that is, can’t they do additional damage and have cool down reduction at the same time?
Spear traits: They are fine, overall, except on Warriors. They get the same benefits as greatswords in their traits. There’s another reason why warriors with Greatswords kick so much kitten . Too much kitten kicking, that is.
Staff traits: necros have too many staff traits; everybody else has too little!
Sword traits: Where are the sword traits for the thief? Did the warrior steal them?
Torch traits: there could be more, you know…
Trident traits: Necro’s and Ele’s don’t have any. Shouldn’t trident traits be linked with staff traits, like the Mesmer?
Warhorn traits: Warrior is fine, but Ranger and Necro are not. Increased range for ranger warhorn isn’t worth it. Banshee’s wail isn’t increasing the duration completely (See Wikipedia)

TL;DR: Some traits are too powerful, while other traits are too weak. Some classes are screwed with too many traits to equip, or too few to have. Please start combining more traits that can be combined

Changes to the game’s economic systems are often made for various and complex reasons. It’s not so simple as to say “we did A due to B”. What you’re asking for would be very hard to do, though we do encourage discussion over on the BLTC forum area.

If you say changes are done only for complex reasons, then why did you nerf champ loot? That had an extreme effect on the economy, but the change took little to no effort to do. Seems you contradicted yourself.

Why doesn’t the patch look into the crappy skills and traits and make them better? For example: the ranger trait that gives increased critical damage while using mh axe is really weak, especially since axe mh is total crap in the first place. Also, why are there no buffs for weaker skills such as flametthrower kit and ice drake venom, while no nerfs for op skills like heal signet?

And stop balancing pve based around pvp and wvw. NPCs and players are not the same

Healing signet needs NO NERF , don’t listen to the whiner . Warrior has no sustain outside of high regen . Those hammer dmg nodes nerf are perfect . But im dissapointed about thief changes honestly , S\D is the only viable build anet

The change to initiative regain baseline is a huge buff to ALL thief builds, so don’t jump so early to those conclusions!

Initiative isn’t the problem. The real problem is the limited viable PvE builds thieves have.
