Salvage or sell items ?

It really depends on what you want.

Salvaging blue and higher gear can give you materials, luck, runes/sigils.
Some items you find you might actually be able to use, like a weapon with better stats.
Selling the items can net you some gold.

So what it comes down to, is what you you need/want the most? The drops you get get better with higher levels and what I tend to do is:
When I level a new char, I sell anything white, salvage anything blue or above (rare/exotic too, unless they are worth more then 30 silver on the tp)
For a max level char like my main, I salvage everything too but I save rare and above weapons to try my luck in the Mystic Forge.
Even for me this does not always go as planned, depending on what I need. If I were to need Ecto’s, I would salvage rare and above for a chance for those items.

I would see if it’s possible for support to offer you a new serial or something and mark your existing one as invalid. I suspect such a process, if they have one, isn’t quite that straightforward, but the way I see it doing something like that would keep whomever you gave out your serial number to from trying to claim your account as theirs much better than just changing emails/password combinations.

Good idea, but impossible. Support does not give out lost serials or new ones. Once a serial is lost, it’s lost.
That is why support has other ways of checking who an account belongs too.
Best option here is still to secure the pc/laptop and change the email associated with the game.

Again, stop sending more then 1 ticket! Close all tickets except the first one. You are not helping yourself by sending more.

Make sure you also check your junk email and be patient. Like Astral said, the forum itself can’t fix this.

Is he still able to log into your account? Or is he trying?

Either way, it will not help if you keep sending emails to support, you need to update your first ticket. Sending more tickets is not allowed and will only slow down everything.

It might be a good idea for you to make a new safe email address and ask support (in your original ticket!) to change your email for you. If the hacker doesn’t have your new email, he can’t log in but you will indeed need to be sure that your pc is safe!

It can be a problem if someone uses it to talk with support to try an claim your account as their own. But there is no way of undoing giving the code.

Support however does not need a serial to establish ownership of the game. If a dispute does come up, there are lots of things support can ask you to see that the account is yours.
That is also why you should take the steps to secure your account.

Did you buy a physical copy of the game or did you get your serial via your email? If it’s the first, you could make a picture of your card with the serial on it if it comes to proving it’s yours.

I am certain though that all will be fine!

Have you changed your email password and your game password? If not do that now.

Also keep an eye on your email and your account here to check if you see any IP addresses trying to log in.

Scan you pc/laptop for keyloggers and such.

And you might want to talk to support about changing your email address you use with the game (only support can change that for you but I feel this is the safest way, choose an email you use only for the game so there will be less chance of it happening again)

There have been problems with the gifts for a lot of players. The advise is to try the troubleshooting tips first and if that doesn’t work, you can submit a ticket to support. Also mention in that ticket that you have tried the troubleshooting tips, that way you can get help faster.

Grin, this was (and now confirmed) one of the topics I didn’t feel scared of bumping!

But why is this not a sticky, I checked the German (I can read it but my German spelling is horrible) forum and they have a similar topic as a sticky.

And the same would go for the other 3 topics of course.

It’s a fair question. I’m concerned that forum members who have their settings to display, say, just 25 posts will see a “Wall o’ Stickies” and have to dig down too deep to see the daily member posts.

Too, based on the number of people who don’t seem to read vital threads like the “A Note about Phishing E-mails” sticky but instead post separate threads about a phishing attempt that’s month’s old, I have a feeling people’s eyes gloss over at the stickies and they move immediately to the non-sticky section.

I’ll give it some thought, for sure!

I agree, right after I posted I checked all the stickies we already have. Most I had not even looked at before.
I also noticed that some of them have similar messages, so some could be combined, shortening the list. Like " Forum Info/Support Tips [merged]" could fit into “how to submit a ticket”. It would need a title change though. Maybe something like “Tips on how to use the account issues forum and submitting a ticket” (probably to long).

That way it would open up a spot.

(a functional search function would also help!)

Ps, I also checked the French and Spanish forum. They too have a sticky about duplicate tickets.

Well what are the odds that he managed to guess her email, password and get pass her IP authorization if she has that set up? Pretty slim imo if she already hadn’t given access to het account to him.

I don’t know and honestly I don’t care because it is not up to me to find out. What I meant is that you can’t just accuse someone and I don’t think it should be happening on a forum. It’s just not right.
I’m not saying any more about that.

We can’t say how long it will take, like I said. But when you hear nothing for 3 days, then you can post the number in the sticky asking for a review.

A mod will sort this post out for you, or move it to the tech section.

This issue comes up a lot in the tech section, so try some tips from there while you wait.

This is not an account issue but a tech issue.

You should post there and see if you can get some tips to follow up on.

Also, it’s frowned upon to submit a ticket and post right after, when your ticket is 72 hours or older, post the number in the sticky. We can’t give you an exact time, you will have to be patient.

Oh nice one! We just moved server again, I have 3 full guild banks on that character!

So I’ve had to buy a second account, research 3 more guild banks on that one, and now I am stuck with a character who’s bags are full and I cant even send the items back or place them in my guild banks on that character!

Seriously Anet! I was leveling a new character on this new account as well! now I cant do kitten all on this account for another 27 days! Nice way to stop legitimate players playing!

Please make your own topic as this one is very old.

Also, when creating a new char, it will have restrictions with sending mail, gold transfers, guild banks and such.

This is normal, it’s been implemented to deter gold sellers and such.

I don’t understand why you had to buy a new account, your whole post is a bit of a mess. I mean you are referring tho “that character” but it’s not clear what, how, why and so on.

We want to help out here, but it would be a good idea to make a topic for yourself with a clear explanation as to what is up.

:) They managed to link my accounts. Not sure if others will still have this problem, but support was very helpful and prompt and got that all sorted out!

I’m still trying to figure out what to do about my GW1 issues (especially since I still haven’t received an e-mail from GW support and I can’t post to the forums due to the fact that you need a character name to do so). I’m sure things will be solved eventually, though.

Linking done, awesome.

But what kind of problem do you have with GW1? You could update your ticket (the one for linking) with the problem and maybe they can fix that for you too!

That message has nothing to do with you afking in LA.

This message has to do with something you said or did in-game that was found offensive by someone else and that could have happened days ago (there isn’t always time to look at reports the instant they come in to the team).

It could have to do with something you might have said in map chat but it has nothing to do with the afk in LA.

If you want to follow my hint: use the portal in your home town to go to Gendarran fields. A bit south of where you land you will see a big balloon. Use it to go to lornar’s pass and use the asura portal to enter lion’s arch.

Why would you enter from lornar’s? The Gendarran entrance works fine and the event is much easier.

It’s actually just a shortcut. Taking the balloon too Lornar’s puts you right at the entrance while in Gendarran you have to walk a bit before you get there.

He will have to talk to support.

Top of the page and form there submit a ticket (with an email address he can be reached on). From there he needs to give all the info he has and leave blank what he doesn’t have.
Support will then contact him with further questions about his account to establish that he indeed is the owner of the account.

And you could try your hand at starting some crafts. If you have been getting mats, you could try chef maybe.

While crafting you will gain XP too, not very fast but still. And you can craft some foods for your level that can help you while you fight some monsters or dive into LA.

Take the LA portal, that should now drop you in Gendarran Fields. The portals to all the cities have been moved there.

And may I suggest you try looking for answers on the wiki in the future. It will save you a lot of time, time you could spend playing.
Don’t get me wrong, I’m not trying to be mean or anything but I have noticed that you ask a lot of questions on the forum that you can just ask in in-game chat, or find the answers to on the wiki.
Posting here makes it so you have to wait for an answer and there is no telling how fast they come.

Also, try checking your world map more often, you will notice things that have changed like the move of the city portals. And read your in-game email (not sure if you got it yet at level 7 though, but they are also on the wiki). Event emails do give you a lot of info on what’s going on and where.

Support will help you and can give you an account roll-back to a point before you were hacked. If you want one that is, because a roll-back will only be done once per account. So if you do get the roll-back, you’d have to be extra careful with your account.

Support will also give you tips on how to secure your account better after all this.

Disconnect the ip to start with.

Then change your email password and the password for the game.

Also check your pc/laptop for keyloggers and such. And wait for support to respond to your ticket.

This is a tech issue, not an account issue (lost passwords and suspensions belong here). Please try posting there.

But have you updated your ticket? Telling them it didn’t work? Cause if not they will assume the issue was fixed at some point in time.

There are groups/guilds that do them on set times. But your best bet is to get your guild or some friends together because with the group or guild there are usually set times.

The temple also gets done during the World Tour if the commander wants too and those tours usually start at server(daily) reset.

I edited my earlier post, I missed the word transmuted.

So if you were to put a new skin on the item (transmuting it) then it will not be usable in the MF anymore. (cause it will not be the same item)

Heu guys, i am a newby in GW2 and i wonder if crafting is worth the hassle or if i am better of selling mats i come by to save money and buy stuff from the TP?
Atm i am trying to level leatherworker and Huntsman, and i must say that i find it a little tedius.

After reading all the comments, something is missing.

If you plan on trying to craft/forge a Legendary weapon, you are doing to need some crafting disciplines at 400 in order to craft certain items.
So if you wanted to do that, you won’t really have a choice. (unless you get rich and buy one outright)

You can play dungeons and PvE and such but not WvW.

So if you just want to explore the world or do a dungeon, guesting will work for you.

As for deleting your characters for a free transfer, some people do that so they can sort of start over/fresh. Or they haven’t played much yet and don’t mind losing their char(s) in order to go to a busier server or a server with more friends.

You can switch worlds and keep your chars, but that will cost gems.
If you delete all chars the transfer is free. So you don’t have to stay on 1 server.

And you can guest by going to world selection (where you see all your chars), then select the server you want to go to and click on “guest”.
