If those players feel it’s a “grind” I really wonder at what game they left GW2 to play. Call of Duty perhaps?

Heck right now I’m playing an even grindier game alongside GW2 because it has more content/rewarding game play right now…

Spam Chat Problems....

If everyone who has ever received a spam whisper from gold sellers noticed, everyone of them seems to have 17 AP. I can’t think of one that I’ve seen that ever had more than that in the last 4 years. Maybe there is a way to restrict whispers based on something like that.

The problem there is they would probably just resort to try stealing more accounts obviously with AP points. That really does not help a lot.

Since the merge, I haven’t read everything here. I just wanted to say 2 things:

1) Thank you for some cool stuff, Anet, and Happy Birthday to GW2!

2) Could you guys PUH-LEEZE stop doing the thing where every b-day gift includes something the same (or very similar) as the previous gifts, but DOES. NOT. STACK!

K. Thanks again!

You could just start using the older stacks. :P This year they had a perfectly good reason tho as they boost you to lvl 30 and not 20. So they are totally different items. They had no excuse last time tho….

No the wont. Why do I say this? Because this would be a level 80 weapon I am assuming, thus they want you to buy it and use a Trans Crystal to apply the look to lower level weapons. Trans Crystals = more gem sales. :P

Possibility of 2 Orr's in future?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Paulytnz.7619

Paulytnz.7619

So we all know (well most of us who have done the storyline anyways :P) that the storyline promises that Orr will turn into this beautiful new land.

So, well we ever get to see this in the game or well it be forever just a background thing in the back of our minds?

I think it’s possible and I think there are 2 ways that it could be done. Now the question is, well Anet do this and if so which way? Also which way would YOU prefer it to be done. Before we answer that question I’ll give my ideas on how it can be done.

Option one: (2 Orr’s, the changing of the current landscape).

This option would be to change the current 3 Orr maps into the new said beautiful landscape for players who have beaten the story. How can this be done, is it possible? Yes I think so and I will give you an example why I believe so.

Think back to your first time playing this game. Can you remember being in the starter zone and seeing other players all around you? I can and I will give the human story example since I started as a human. You can also test this for yourself by starting up a new Human Character. You are NOT in an instance as you can see other players around you and aid them. You are also NOT in the main gameworld of Queensdale. You are in a map that is exactly like Queensdale but have limited areas you can go to. Now we know you are not in the main Queensdale area because if you were while playing in that area you would see people fighting the elemental all the time and be able to help them. We know this is not the case. So here we have 2 different Queensdale’s and not one of them are instances. 2 maps if you well, sure it is not a complete map of Queensdale, but this still goes to show we can have seperate maps of the same areas. A new clean Orr could exist for the current three maps for players who have beaten the game.

Option Two: (Bring in the rest of Orr via new maps).

Now we can plainly see on the world map that there is more land to Orr so all Anet need to do is create those maps and create them as such without risen and have the landscape be this new possible paradise. But the question would be would it be a paradise? Would there be new races to meet, new enemies to face? Who knows there are many ways this could all play out.

So now we have the 2 options which would you prefer? Also what kind of a future Orr would you like to see? One where we claim the lands and build new cities? Perhaps leave it free for the wild to claim? New enemies/friends?

I look forward to your ideas.

As for me well I would like a combo of both. The current Orr maps redone for those of us who have beaten the game and new Orr maps that we could possibly settle in.

First off, I agree with most here that it feels like a cash grab.

I honestly do feel that this is ANet testing the waters. Result: The water is toxic. Poor move on Anet’s part I believe.

The only good reason I can see them doing this (and it is a huge stretch) is that many people also gripe about not having any exclusive items. By making them account bound there would be a lot less people with them. Again, I know that is a stretch for some type of justification.

This was my original thought too. There have been people now and then on these forums asking for more “exclusive” sets. I don’t recall if they have been asking for them to be in game rewards or straight up cash spending. But I do very much doubt being behind the BLTC gambling, no one would want that would they? O.O

You’re missing the point entirely most of us me included have seen and played the 2 first world 3 and 4 are yet to come, and because of empty promises we get 1 and 2 over and over and over again and every year it comes out on April fools day and the joke is on you the player who takes the bait!!!

Have fun out there and don’t forget your fishing rod.

“empty promises”?

I don’t ever remember SAB being promised at all, especially in the game manifesto at launch or before launch. In fact the whole thing was a total surprise (a nice one indeed) when it was released and if I recall was the work of one individual in his spare time while his main game projects were finished.

If you mean because there are 2 extra doorways that COULD eventually at some time be added on to. If this is what you are taking as “empty promises” I guess you and I have two very different views as to what “empty promises” are.

Really I just don’t get some people. SAB was given to us FREE as a fun BONUS yearly event and people still are not happy. Sure you may have played it up to your eyeballs and may want MORE MORE MORE right now. But lets be realistic here. Sometimes things just never come or they take time.

I mean sure when a new oh I don’t know say Final Fantasy game comes out and I beat it right away sure I may want the next one right now but I just know that’s not gonna happen lol…

Don’t even make me mention the FF7 remake, just knowing that it is going to be broken up into parts…..now that example right there, I COULD be justified in moaning but, no, just no and this is off topic anyway lol.

What feature do you miss from your old MMO

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Paulytnz.7619

Paulytnz.7619

1 – Mob drops every kill or there abouts.
2 – Variety in Mob drops including rare collectables or items that can be used in other skills/game content.

3 – Game content that is not 100% combat related or revolved around combat.
4 – Player owned houses and other personal systems that can be customized to reflect your char/personality/playstyle.

5- Minigames both in single/group settings and also semi minigame systems that players can do between themselves anywhere in the world such as dueling, playing a game of cards or something (possibly gained from those rare drops as stated above – think Final Fantasy and some of their collectable game card minigames for example).

6 – Wealth building in other forms besides just cash. That being said say if you wanted to gather 1000’s of a certain crafting material (example ore, wood) you could do so and not be hindered by bank space. 1 game I used to play you could bank an unlimited amount of such items in a single bank storage slot. Players could have say 1 million iron ores if they wanted to and it was not uncommon. :P

7 – Simple currency system, if you have 100 gold pieces it is 100 gold pieces not 100 silver or some other label. Ditto with a million gold pieces that’s what it is not whatever “gold” equivalent it is here. Keeps things more simple for me to place value on items…

8 – Combat music that didn’t annoy the crap out of me so much so that I never turn the game music on now and thus miss out on the rest of the music which is good.

The list goes on but escapes my mind for now :P

I wouldn’t say “boring”. Maybe “repetitive” mainly because they are mostly all part of something big or a meta. Tyria maps are not like this as such. Orr comes close but not really, you can sort of think of each event as a separate thing. Or maybe I just never pieced tem altogether? To this day I still don’t understand the lore to the Orr maps/events such as Malchor and such. But then again maybe I just don’t care or too lazy to go and find the info. I guess unless it’s really in my face (such as HOT story) I don’t really care too much.

Now when we come to the music in the HOT maps, boring heck no! Now if we were talking about the Tyria maps – yes. I could listen to the Auric Basin music non stop all day long. Why oh why don’t they give us the option to do so? I mean let us pick and choose which tracks to hear and have them on loop.

Are you serious?

I bought the executoners and lost so much it wasn’t funny. The ONLY skill you have that is worth anything is skill 3.

Skill 1 is VERY slow and the cooldown it states is far off the mark.
Skill 2 you NEVER hit your target all it does is make you run past them and swing your weapon.
Skill 4, yes it is flee but again it is USELESS as it then makes YOU run in some direction and swing your weapon again. NEVER after your target so it’s as useless as skill 2.
Skill 5 – summon a skeleton familiar, they should just say summon a minipet is that’s all it is, it does NOTHING.

I was fighting some guy in a Mad Kings Set and he constantly had me fleeing and stun locked and I was VERY lucky if I could even hit him with the skill 3. That’s all this set offers, 1 skill with a big aoe and THAT’S it.

PS – here’s a tip for any Engi’s out there who face these flee spammers – equip your elixir gun to your utility bar, the f-key skill interrupts/cures your char fleeing!

I guess if they just made them look the same as males we would then have just as many people complaining “Anet hates females because this armour makes us look like a guy!”

They just can’t win….

No, that’s not what people would be saying. No one says a company “hates” females when they don’t make them into male sex objects.

They’d be saying “This armor looks great on my Guardian! Thanks for no bikini armor this time, Anet!” judging by the majority of replies here.

And this is from someone who has her Guardian in a combo of T2 and T3 human cultural because it’s one of the few wholly covering armors that I liked.

Oh I’m sure there would be tons complaining, I’ve seen it before.
Don’t get me wrong I am NOT against the complaints here. If anything ALL female armours should have 2 options. The exact same male version look or whatever else they may decide to add as a more female looking choice if people want to look that way.

New to GW2, not having fun

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Paulytnz.7619

Paulytnz.7619

Hello. I am an experienced mmorpg player and I’ve played all the big games so far. I’m new in GW2 (joined about 2 months ago) and so far I got 3 characters to lv80 and im working on another one atm. Unfortunately for me too the game is nothing close to fun, even though I got into it with so much excitement after all the comments and videos I’ve watched prior to purchasing. A couple of things that spoil the fun for me: the grindfest! its simply horrible and unrewarding (worst I’ve experienced in an mmo). Dungeon grouping! there is a general lack of direction when it comes to roles in a group environment and it tends to be very disappointing to new players who find themselves in a downed state all the time. It’s made me feel hopeless and helpless several times and that was even in the early dungeons where the game should be very forgiving. The world feels amazingly small and boring. The lore is plain boring for me, so much that I skip all cut scenes and dialogues. Crafting and gathering, also very dull (after playing ffxiv arr its going to be hard to find better or equal crafting/gathering). Gearing! From what I’ve seen so far (correct me if im wrong), gearing is horrible since basically you have two tiers of gear to choose from which is exotic and the upgrade, ascended. What I hate is that for example a karma berzerker exotic sword and a dungeon token exotic sword come with exactly the same stats and after that its all about different skins with no difference statwise. And finally I find ridiculous how the legendary weapon crafting concept works. You spend hundreds upon hundreds of gold and time to grind mats for a weapon with stats that are the same as an ascended weapon and all you truly get is a shiny skin I have played a bit WvW and it was also boring, basically all I did was follow a huge zerg in a map and capture bases and occasionally fought with enemy zergs in battles that werent remotely fun. I havent done any pvp yet so I dunno how that works. No healers, no tanks, no dps, everyone is everything and everyone has to take care of themselves. I understand anet wanted to try a new approach but for me this is not working good. Sure some classes can support the group with some abilities but it’s minimal. I havent felt once that feeling of “bonding” with my group, like you have my back and I have yours. It’s everyone for themselves. Anyway that’s how it has been for me so far, I hope the expansion will make it more interesting somehow. I wanted to get addicted to this game for many reasons..

Sorry but this is a nightmare to read.

I agree…

Also: "A couple of things that spoil the fun for me: the grindfest! ", lol please, go and play Runescape, in fact even more so, go play Runescape classic! Now that was pure grind loving…..

Implement a living world - instanced maps?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Paulytnz.7619

Paulytnz.7619

The majority of players might have done the story to the end, but not the majority of characters. I have 10 level 80s and I know that 9 of them are highly unlikely to ever do the full personal story. Too long, I’ve done it once already and doing it again and again and again and again isn’t worth my time. I have a feeling that a lot of people have not done the story all the way through for more than a couple of their characters, and they may never do it. It would be immersion breaking for many people if most of their chars had the post Orr map when those chars hadn’t finished the story.

In that case they could just give us the opportunity to choose. If you already finished the story with 1 character, you know what happened and how you got there. Then you could choose whether your new character should start directly at the post-cleansed Orr map or not. That way, you’re not forced to play it through over and over again but still got the opportunity to play it through for immersion reasons (if you’re a roleplayer e.g.).

It is much more immersion breaking if there’s no cleansed Orr map at all – so no player ever had the chance to see what it looks like after the story. It’s even worse with the current living world episode – as I said it’s like we’re time travelers. The events simply didn’t take place in the open world.

Exactly what Tekey says:

Now I HAVE done the PS on all 9 of my main chars as well as all the LS and etc. Now here’s a funny tidbit for you. warning spoilers follow regarding the newest LS:

When taking my alts through the latest LS after my main had done it. Speaking to the ringmaster at the circus BEFORE being up to that part of the story let me enter the area where the 3rd machine thing is. Thus people, if you have alts you can speak to the ringmaster on them and glide from there to take apples to Hal without even needing to do the story on them!

So how’s that for an example? However I would still prefer they added my idea instead. Just give us a couple more new maps for these areas AFTER the fact so they can be consistent with the stories (well in the example of Orr at least anyway as I think this is important).

I also think they should have had it the unlimited use hatchets have been the thing to drop those things from the trees and not just any old tools, those things that people farm in Malchors leap, I forget what they are called.

Can’t do, cause that would be P2W. They could make some have an additional chance to drop Foxfire clusters, but not make it exclusive to gem store items.

The watchwork pick is still an anomality. How do they expect anyone to use other picks, if one clearly gives a large advantage over the others?

That is exactly my point. They should have gone ahead and added the sprocket thing to previous and other picks that came after the watchwork. Otherwise it just stops people from wanting to use the previous or buy any new ones, such as in my case.

The good news is you DON’T have to do tribulation mode to be able to scribe the new furniture. Doing so and earning that achievement only unlocks being able to buy more furniture coins for 25 baubbles.

The furniture is actually scribed from the clouds which can be earned by ANYONE in your guild doing the furniture achieves. So in theory EVERY single one of your members could do the furniture shops except the Trib one and you will have a ton of clouds for scribing.

This also means anyone else COULD do the full achievement and unlock the ability to be able to buy extra furniture coins with baubbles for your scribe to then use. But this would just be a bonus.

Knock backs?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Paulytnz.7619

Paulytnz.7619

use a stun breaker and most mosters with knockbacks are really animated/telegraphed so you can dodge/walk your way out of the knockback.

Not so when facing multiples of them, you may dodge one or 2 but it will only be a splt second before more come in and how many times can you use your stun breaker and then have to wait for cooldown?

It’s not as simple as you make it sound to be.

May I know what mob this is? Even if you’re facing multiples of them, you still should be able to kite, dodge, and stunbreak their knockbacks/knockdowns. Try practicing on the group of ettins (i forgot the place x.x somewhere in kryta iirc). I can usually take on 2-3 mobs with knockback with my lowbie, but you do need to keep on moving, going around in circles, etc.

Also, not all mobs have knockbacks. In fact, maybe a few handful of them only have it. For all the species of branded/inquest/bandit/separatist/flame legion, only 1 out of the 4-5 different types do the knockback.

I’m not going to list the multiples of different creatures that have knock downs or knock backs, theres far too many.

I certainly don’t need to practice on Ettins either as I have completed this game and world complete 5 times already. Besides that Ettins have the most easily and avoidable knockback anyway, not so with many others. There are some mobs out there that have these skills and it’s not even in the mobs description.

My point is there are far too many cretures with these same skills over and over and over again. If you do (and can easily sometimes) get crowded by a bunch of them you can easily feel like a rag doll in a push/pull match. Heck in some cases even just one single enemy can do this to you. Here’s one reference I will give:

Go to the Queensdale jumping puzzle and go to the last room with the chest, just stand near the Vet Ooze for a bit or fight it for a while and don’t kill it too fast and you will see what I mean. It pushes you then a split second later it will pull you back to it. That’s 2 cc’s in an almost 1 move and it can repeat this quite often when it feels like it. Luckily I have a strong build and have a trait set that puts protection on me when I’m knocked down or what-not but that does not change the fact it’s a boring/cheap mechanic that offers little challenge or fun. Now imagine this same mob x a few others with it all with the same skills – it does happen in some places.

If you are trying to level up in this game via the old method (of practically every other mmo out there) which is just kill every monster in sight you are doing it wrong. Here anet wanted you to feel like a hero and to explore/play all the various different Dynamic events around the maps. That is where you get the bulk of the experience you need to level at a decent rate here.

Also like others have said you get experience for just exploring, (finding all those vistas, Point of interests, new parts of map etc) gathering mats (ores/wood), crafting as well as completing the parts of your personal story that you can do. However the biggest chunk of exp will always come from events/personal story.

I wish you the best in finding the right class for you (although it seems Engi will probably be it) and sticking with the game to see all it’s fun parts.

Oh and lastly I would just like to comment on this part of your post:

" I have been trying to level up and get into the good part of the game "

This too is part of the problem, you see EVERY part of the game is ment to be the “good part of the game”. You are meant to be having fun just playing/exploring/doing the events/hearts, etc. All I can say is don’t rush too much, figure the game out, your char and all the different skills with each weapon/class as you level up. In this game the real game does not start at max level, it’s at level 1.

Here I have all classes and am good enough with all but my main has and will always be Engi. Why? Because no other MMO I have ever played gives you a flamethrower!

Back in the day during one of the Beta weekends when I first tried out some gw2 I jumped on Engi to see what it was about, saw flamethrower and said “this is for me, that’s my main whenever we can play!”

Paulytnz.7619

And yet, a couple of months or so ago, the forums were full of posts commenting on how content was released at too fast a pace. What’s a development company to do? =/

I think that’s a part of the problem with the living story. You have no control on when it comes or when to do it. So if you are a new player still going through the learning stages of the game or even a semi new player going through mid levels of the game the living story may not be of interest to you at the time.

However with expansions YOU choose when to add that part on to the game and when YOU do that content.

I seriously think they need to rethink the living story and possibly make them re-playable somehow so that newer players or players that didn’t/couldn’t do them at the time can still experience it all, get the rewards and “have content to do”. It would also put more value into all that work that anet had done as well as it’s not “just gone and wasted”.

And as for SAB, that should be there permanent as well because it’s MORE CONTENT, again going to waste.

The Flames of Kryta Torch

Paulytnz.7619

Sooooo having just done the torch runs (which were very fun mini mini puzzles – thnx Anet!) and getting this account wide torch I thought to myself "how cool would this have been if it was also a weapon?

I don’t mean a free torch offhand weapon or new skin for them either. I mean it could simply be the first ever “universal weapon”. What is a universal weapon you may ask? Well, a weapon usuable by all classes (main hand weapon not offhand) that each and every class all has the exact same skills for.

If we think about it so far the only real good use for this item is for the LA pirate JP and possibly that one mini dungeon where you have that big dark room with the attacking skelks. Being this is not a weapon right now it has very little (if any) use in either of these places.

Besides that, it would just be a cool new nifty weapon for ALL classes to play with. Oh, oh, oh and it would make that torch 5k kills achievement a lot easier too!

Thoughts, ideas for the skills that could be added if this was made possible?

My ideas would be it’s a 1 handed weapon so we would only need 3 skills, auto would just be a simple swipe burning attack, skill 2 could be like a fire-eater’s spitting out fire short ranged attack and I have no idea for skill 3.

Just imagine we could have dual torches with this weapon!. :P

PS, please do not send this to suggestions, it’s more for discussion on said item rather than adding anything major new to the game as such…

They did this already. It’s called Southsun, just not underground.

It worked out so well.

The problem with Southsun is it is totally a lvl 80 area and even then it is more created for groups. If we are talking all zones that we have thus far with let’s say one new map coming each 2-3 months or so (which I would be happy with) then just think of the current zone lvls. All starter zones dungeons would be aimed with those levels in mind with possibly some areas in them for the higher lvls or small groups of said levels.

Levels and difficulty aside (again mainly referring to Southsun) there should also be more incentives to go there. Really where Southsun is concerned all that springs to mind are karka shells and those passionfruit things. Surely they can come up with more than that with a little bit of thought.

The mobs there are not exactly fun to fight either, sure they might be a challenge the first few times you fight them but how long does that fun really last?

To everyone else who have read and replied ty let’s keep this going for a little bit longer.

Poor Rangers :(

Wait one second here, as an Engi I find these complaints about the Druid rather unnecessary. Basically they are getting our med kit skill 1 however it ALSO does damage.

This kit is still totally useless to me. Yes I understand that Druid is more than likely the FIRST class to be given a truly power house of a healing build/option and that others will soon follow. Yet still, as an Engi having 1 kit totally useless is just real annoying. Especially now that another class can not only do the same but far better.

Now having said all that, rangers will get more Elite specs focused on damage, support etc just like everyone else. However for the mean time every ranger should enjoy that they are the FIRST true healer to be added to the game and I suspect will be in great demand upon the raid release.

One last thing I would like to say, I main an engi yes but my second fave class and one I use the next most is my ranger. I still have nothing but love for it. They are brilliant in PvE, WvW not too shabby. I managed to get the champion title for him in PvP. So who here exactly is moaning about the druid class? Is it the dungeon runners or the “serious” top 5% pvpers?

Please more details would be appreciated, I am sure not only by the general public but for anet as well.

What a shame you are on the EU servers I was going to offer to come and help you but alas I am on the NA servers. I would suggest that if you can’t find people to help you that you have a few options to get this done at a later date:

1 – Wait until you have a friend or 2 (guildies would work too) to help you tackle it. Really it would only take 1 lvl 80 friend to help you through it if they know what they are doing.

2 – Wait for the feature pack that is coming which will be in a sense merging all worlds together. This will give you more people on your map to help out.

3 – Clear a few other maps, unlock your elite and stronger skills/gear and come back and give it another shot. You will find it a LOT easier trust me.

PS despite what I said in point 1 you don’t even really need a lvl 80 friend. I managed to solo this every time on every single one of my alts at the appropriate level for the map. It’s not so hard when you know what you are doing especially if you are used to the jump puzzles (it is the jump puzzle/vista/SP wall we are talking about right?) in this game. Another tip – you don’t have to fight/kill every mob in your way.

I personally found marking targets useful in other mmo’s and would welcome any change that allowed greater versatility in that regard here.

So +1 from me.

The funny thing is I don’t even party or group a lot and yet I can see how this would be a great use for a lot of people lol. Thanks for your input/support.

Lol this thread reminds me of my old days playing Runescape. There I had a friend who would often moan to me in private message (whisper) that other players were always “standing on her or her toes” while in the bank or just out in the world killing mobs. She was dead serious, it was no joke, she really could not stand it and it drove her mad every day lol.

Me, I just know there is limited space and the game would be unplayable if there was body blocking or any such thing. As for this thread and GW2. It’s impossible to be able to bank or use a merchant without standing on other people. However if I am running somewhere in the game world and see another player running towards me I will run to the side of them or get out of their way. I do this mainly for my own immersion if anything. Hey if it helps their immersion too well then it’s win win.

It would be nice for something to be done here. Personally I would like to see them ALL on one screen and not having to scroll through them all. It would also be nice if we could “lock” their placements so we can set them up in any priority that we like.

Party size

I’m pretty sure they have stated that 5 party members is what works best for them when it comes to designing challenging content. We see groups now where players stack and can easily take down bosses very fast. Just imagine if there were 8 members. I think that is Anet’s concern with 5+ members, too many healing coming from everywhere and really it seems they want heals to be on the low side of combat, well that’s what it seems to me anyway….

Bags would become full immediately, you would end up having to clear space clicking on everything face palm

They can work it to stop opening bags and such as soon as your bag becomes full. It already works like this when you try and craft x amount of items and your bag fills up. Wouldn’t be that much different in the programming I should imagine.

If you ask me the toughness thing is a lie! I am a thief and anything I do (besides raids) all the mobs always focus me -.- it’s really annoying

You didn’t mention what your build and stats are. You also don’t give us any idea if you know if anyone else in the paty/group has toughness either. Lets face it, if everyone goes in in zerk gear someone still has to have the highest toughness out of the group and thus then be regarded as the tank/target.

Of course having said that if everyone is in zerk or similar stats, the target will change depending on if you are moving in within melee/missile range and pulling back to disengage for a bit of healing etc. There is more to it besides “highest toughness” also.

Necro or ele?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Paulytnz.7619

Mhmmm I personally tired of necro rather fast. It doesn’t look extremely cool, doesn’t have a lot of viable weapons (only staff really) and most utilities are a bit lame. Elementalist has a huge range of skills for weapons, due to having 4 attunements, which makes playing them a lot more fun, because it has so many shiny effects and so much variation. I prefer dagger/dagger, but I guess staff has it’s pros too.

O.O

My berserker PVE Necro wants to have a word with you! Lol the utilities are awesome, just use wells (healing as well) and have the trait where they siphon HP from the enemy and you smack them down fast. Axe works well for groups too surprisingly.

Ele is just spam skill 2 while avoiding getting hit, too much effort! :P

Race-Change Item in Gem Store?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Paulytnz.7619

Paulytnz.7619

It may be complicated to change race and keeping uncompleted progress of main story but if you finished it then I don’t see the complication. Choices you made in the main story have no effect on the rest of the content anyways.
So make it available for characters with max level that have finished their main story or reset it to beginning if you haven’t completed it. doesn’t matter.

Possible problems of this:

1- Would resetting your race/PS also reset rewards from the PS? If so here we go again with key farming except only for those who are spending gems. There is a total of 3 keys per char from PS + 1 from LS2 and 1 from HOT. So I am not just talking the lvl 10 quests here. Oh and I should have mentioned that atm ONLY the key from the lvl 10 story is limited to once per week.

So people would be able to simply change their race, do the PS and grab 3 keys from there, decide if they want to do LS2 (not worth it) or Hot as well for an extra 1 or 2. Reset race and repeat with only the lvl 10 quest key being missed due to the current one per weekly rule. Rinse and repeat. Not to also forget all the other rewards on top from these stories. Weapon skins, free exotics etc etc.

2 – You are overlooking the fact now with Living story stuff they ARE looking back at choices we made when we made our chars and even certain things we did in our PS. Example. I ran a new Norn Ele through the PS recently and then took him to HOT and did his story there. A certain NPC was still angry at him because he let her husband die in his PS.

I am sure there would be many, many small things like this that we are not even aware of that could all be effected by this. Even if anet were to catch them all before any kind of release of such a new feature I am sure the work would be immense for them.

GW1 combat

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Paulytnz.7619

Paulytnz.7619

I couldn’t get into GW1 and the combat was boring. GW2 is better in every way.

i think it depends on the game mode gw2 did raids good but for pvp it will never be as good as gw1 it seems

maybe if they boost the mob ability in world mobs gw2 combat will look more fun also
at the moment i wonder why the normal mobs even exists

To slow you down and annoy us of course.

What I miss seeing here (that was in GW1) was when you saw an enemy, any enemy you knew you had to be ready for it and there was a real threat from it. You could wipe them out and move forward knowing that it is indeed gone forever and will not respawn (well by forever I mean as long as you are in that map instance of course lol). That was it, threat contained, I say again THREAT.

Here its, sigh more trash mobs to take up precious seconds of my time and worst of all slow my movement speed down. That’s it, no real threat usually.

So yes, this part of the game I can understand where you are coming from.
I do still like the mobility and semi action of GW2 tho. If they had done more of a mix, get rid of cooldowns and have the old energy reserve where you had to make the RIGHT choices instead of just spamming when cooldown comes along. Maybe the game would have been far better?

I think they also made a mistake merging conditions and hexes. Part of the challenge in GW1 was the build setup and about choosing the right things to defend against. Should I go hex removals or condi? Should I try both and have less attack options? Here it’s – how many condi clears/stun breaks can I take and am I sure I can’t squeeze in another!?

Yet they are slowly improving on this now as you do have to also consider skills to wipe break bars and such. Hopefully they can include more things like this and come up with other/better ways to deal with all the condi spam from both other players and mobs.

PS – I agree with the PvP being better in GW1. Their first priority right now for PvP should be to remove the PVE elements. Bring back death and team deathmatch! As a pver when I pvp I want to PVP and fight other players, not do pve garbage like stand in circles. Address this Anet, this should be your no. 1 priority for pvp even BEFORE balance.

Take care of the modes first and balance will go a lot smoother. Just imagine right now everyone builds with those circles in mind right? Think Dragon Hunters and traps, think Necro’s and Aoe Condi spam etc etc. Remove the circles, and you open up a LOT more options/skills which should help with balance issues.

There, rant over lol.

500 AP for GW1 Hall of Monuments Intended?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

I can see a simple solution to this and if more and more people complain I can see Anet resorting to it – take tany AP gained from GW1 out of the leaderboards. Keep them for the rewards sure but simply remove them from leaderboard totals.

Those of us who played GW1 and don’t care about the leaderboards shouldn’t worry about this. Those that did/do, well tough luck fair is fair I say.
