Rejected unanimously by the GW1 veterans.
No level cap increase would be rejected by GW1 vets? o.O
I’d have said they’d approve of it.
They wouldn’t. Most GW1 veterans will claim that GW2 has 60 levels too many already.
I haven’t heard this from anyone nor think it and im a 7 year vet of GW1 . With that being said i dont want an increase in level cap for GW 2 . I honestly don’t see the point to it and what happens with legenderies and ascended weapons since they are only level 80? New zones can be any level the devs want them to be so its not like the cap has to be raised for that . What about traits adding trait points would likely imbalance things . A lot of issues come with a level cap raise that there’s no need for
Not entirely sure i like the tone of the OPs post but whatever
I don’t hate the healing role. In other games it when implemented properly it can be very fun to play . I played a rit in GW 1 and ran as a healer with it at times because I felt was better at rit healing than with my monk . Some GW 1 players may knock me for that but Rit healers and prot Rits were very effective when run properly . Heck even before i had my monk i ran as a high energy healer on my Ele with WoH. When it comes to GW2 however there is no need for a strictly Heal/Prot role as all classes are self sustaining . On top of this some classes can fill the support role very well while still dishing out damage like the Guardian or Ele making it even less of a need
I see the M word was used this thread is done for .
First off, you can’t really have a debate about ‘casuals’ since you haven’t actually defined what you’d consider the definition of ‘casual’. Given how everyone seems to have their own opinions on what it means, not everyone is necessarily on the same page.
This is exactly right an no one ever will be . Everyone defines it differently so the debate is an impossibility
I was attracted to GW2 because it was a sequel to GW1.
+1.
So much disappointement, in this regard.
+1 here too such a shame, shows change isn’t always a good thing.
PS: I heard that WoW is now incorporating (or planning to) some of the game mechanics/concepts from GW2.
That is pretty “standard”. MMO games have always been “incestuous”.
Actually that is pretty standard for Blizzard, don’t they steal everything they see as profitable from other games, just look at WoW and tell me whats original in their MMO design.
As above MMO change is bad, WoW just copy what people seem to like and it makes them money.
Im not a big fan of WoW but when you think about it all RPGs have pretty much copied D&D to some degree WoW just seemed to do it the best and has been the standard since . as far as doing what they think people will like ,Isnt that good business practice? Nobody says oh i think im going to make a product nobody will like and put it on the market .
As for change in MMOs its not inherently bad its how you market it vs how its received thats the important thing.
right because regular skills are elite
Manifesto=Campaign promise end of story . im tired of hearing about it .
its one of many sub categories of counter culture groups . The OP is basically saying anyone whi disagrees with him is against mainstream MMOs which is a completely false premise
LOL thats AWESOME
No i dont just shoot it down but not everything from other MMOs will work in GW2. Do all MMOs have to be a 1 size fits all thing to you? If so why? Do mundane repeated ideas that didnt even work in some MMOs feel right to you when you played it?
80’s Pop…….Seriously though i just listen to the in game music
agreed . Thats why i picked the armors i did in my post above . you should take a look
Druid always looked way too skimpy to me
because 20 weapon skills isn’t enough……..
The problem with your idea is that a lot of events would never get done. How many times have you run past an event without doing it? Probably a lot . What you would effectively be doing is making it harder for people to get armor skins or items they want particularly on low pop servers .
well typically when i hit a wall i say ouch . Thankfully it doesn’t happen very often
I just got my War to 80 . I dont really set goals per se though cause then you gotta grind it out. For me its just more play the game and if a goal comes along then thats what im doin
If they do it will be a good news/bad news sort of thing.
The good news is, they bring back the skins you loved.
The bad news is, they can’t resist “improving” them.Don’t believe me? Profane armor
Heh, the second picture kinda reminds me of either a transformer or a gunkitten
aw more like Voltron but back on topic . I would love more GW1 skins Mediums could especially use an update in this regard as there are too many trench-coats.
How about some drakescale

Keep in mind these are only some of my suggestions for medium from GW1 .
Honestly what i would really like to see is some profession specific armors that only that class could wear that would sold at vendors across Tyria with different looks depending on location
New elementalist skill ideas (passive/active) –

6. Panic(aura) – Projectiles/spells targeted towards you have a 50% chance to be redirected to another player or to another enemy.
Post if you guys have any unique ideas or guild wars 1 related :-)
This is a fun topic just for the sheer pleasure of reading some well thought out niche skill ideas.
sadly ineptitude is already in the game . http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Ineptitude
Loved it in GW1 not quite the same in GW 2 . Haven’t checked any of the others but that one stuck out to me.
oh im not going to argue variety is needed particularly in the medium category im just saying its not as easy as you make it out to be . Personally i would like to see some class based armors that would hearken back to GW1 ( i.e Mesmer only armors ) not just weight based but i realize that such a project would take time .
yep as feral said there’s an underwater tunnel near the heart where you turn into a pig . Very easy to miss.
There are a few armors that have effects but not many . One thing to keep in mind is making new sets of armor isnt exactly as easy as weapons since its not a 1 size fits all thing so saying gimme now does you no good . Personally i would love new sets of armor but i dont think effects are what make a set good or bad In fact they could be a deterrent for some who would otherwise buy it .
Point 2 should have been point 1. Female or not there needs to be a better variety for medium .
As for point 4 i somewhat agree . I think whatever the inspiration is should be worked into the weapon instead of being so in your face though .
on 5 more customization is always good .
wait theres a new dye pack? WOOHOO!!!!
So far every "a casual is " or "a casual wants " statement has been false for me and i would consider myself a casual . This is why i posed so many questions in my initial post and why i say a casual can not be defined in any one way.
I play significant hours a day and will do any content as long as i have fun doing it even when it goes poorly. This includes things like scarlet , leveling alts , world bosses, dungeons & dragons. Believe it or not i do in fact understand the mechanics of world events. ( ive seen tequatl failure blamed on " casuals who are too stupid to get the mechanics " ) and i do get max gear .You see to me casual is about attitude and having fun no matter what you’re doing in game not about time or min/maxing or any of that just plain old fun .
i would go with Sylvari as well
The transmutation stones are there to get you hooked on looks before level 80, so that Anet can make money off of you from transmutation crystals when you hit 80.
meh end game is as much about looks as anything else and if you wanted you could get somthing like 600 gems for 40 gold so this point is somewhat invalid
Im running low on them actually after so i could use some more
Let’s first off try to keep this as civil, non-flamefest as possible, I have read countless posts on how Casuals are commenting on how ANet broke its promises on being a totally “casual friendly” game, and how everything should be easily obtainable by a casual player.
I don’t intend for this to be flagged or deleted, I just want to know how all you Casuals feel and what you believe needs to be done/changed, and I would also like non-Casual player views on things.
My hopes is that perhaps to get some ANet reps in here and to read what Casuals and non-Casuals feel about GW2, and it’s content and future content.
Thanks, and lets see how this goes!
The problem with this debate is that everyone defines casual and hardcore differently. Is it how much time you put in? Is it how you play? How much you understand the mechanics? Weather or not you care about max stats or not? Do Dungeons & Dragons not? Nobody will ever define casual the same way which is why this debate is so hard to have and so easy to derail.
You CAN but its not exactly optimal . You have to remember if all you’re doing is staying in one zone you’re not going to get any XP from exploration or advance your story very far. Loot will be minimal even for things like Maw or SB and unless you’re doing it on an alt you’re never gonna get your daily
being punished for playing a class i like . gosh i dont know would i like that or not…. I dont know if you’ve noticed but GW2 isn’t most MMOs
Its likely a clipping issue same as it is with capes
and here i thought support was more than just healing/buffing . Silly me .
what if,
the tequalt big chest (not the daily bonus chest)
had
at least 5 confirmed rare gear (jewel, armor, weapons, trinkets etc)
and a high probability (say 50%) for exotics?what if …
people would become outraged once they became good at it and ANet nerfed the chest
ok thank you
The problem is that those players are playing with the system to gain large rewards for very little effort with so many high level players coming in. Plus it just removes the exploration aspect when you realize that just going in a starter area to kill easy bosses for large rewards is an an option against going to a High lvl zone where they ought to be. And in reality, just making these small lvl bosses spawn at random, not in predetermined timers, could make the dynamic event aspect seem more realistic.
this is actually false . I do the Queensdale zerg on occasion but its not exactly profitable for the time spent there . Half the time you’re clearing 5 slot bags from your inventory or waiting for one of the events to start .
The thing i disagree with is if a newbie gets shouted down in queensdale weather its for killing a champ out of order that they didn’t know existed or simply asking a question .
I’m trying to figure out if i go 3 Balthazar and 3 flame legion runes will i get +30% since each has a 15% burn duration buff or only +15%
ok a few things here .
Dailies are optional
I
f there was carry over it wouldn’t be a daily
it hurts hard core more than casual players as hard core players are less likely to do a variety of thing . Time has nothing to do with it .
Most dailies can be done incredibly quickly
almost 5 . My war is only 77 at the moment but she’ll be 80 by the end of tomorrow so i may as well count them
I have a
M Engie
F Thief
M Guardian
F Mesmer
F Warrior
because the story isn’t written that way . You can RP it all you want though.
im only using the word attune as a place holder name and i know the atunement system for the ele . You will see however that its more than a simple skill swap as it defines offense vs defense and grants some sort of boon or debuff depending on weapon set ( i only used one example ) and attunement .
There ARE games ANET would have a legit suit against this isnt one of them. If you want A REAL example of a game that ripped them off look at Shards of the Dreams . on facebook . most of the imiges used in that game are ripped right from GW 1
(edited by Adine.2184)
I think there should be a heavy that can do both offense and defense but neither particularly well . they would do this through use of "atunements "
Here is my idea .
A Heavy class that “attunes” itself to either offense or defensive roles. Its class mechanic would be to have an offensive and defensive attunement that would switch weapon skills based on it . It would have a medium base health and have the following weapons
Main hand
Sword,Axe,
Off hand
Dagger,Shield,Sword,Mace
2 hand
Longbow,Hammer
An example of offensive vs defensive attunements might be
Sword Dagger offense grants a chance at poisoning a foe on dagger strikes and is purely offensive where as Sword Dagger defense grants a chance at stability every so many seconds and has more block/evade skills
those are not races, but species. Real life racism ascribes negative traits to ethnic heritage that are not divided along these ethnic lines. Between species, that is totally different. For all we know, Charr, humans or whatever actually could be really stupid compared to asuran standard.
We do know that they are. Asura are the most intelligent race in all of Tyria. Every time there’s been a threat, there’s been an Asura there to analyze the situation and save the day for those races who just couldn’t comprehend it. Fractals gate was invented by an Asura; Asura Gates…duh, it’s in the name; Tixx’s flying toy factory is Asura tech; the laser used to help defeat Tequatl is also Asura based. So, there you have it.
They didnt figure out how to defeat the great destroyer ( that was Gwen ) , they didnt defeat the dragons last time they rose , they wern’t even around to take out the Lich Abbadon or Shiro and humanity fared just fine . I’m just saying
ive been hating on charr in map chat for a while now .
Remember folks Flame Ash Iron Blood must fall Charr are evil kill them all
(edited by Adine.2184)
Well no one is going to stop you from mixing and matching armor . Less noise would probably mean things like pit fighter Duelist or Kodan since they primarily seem to be leather based .
I was under the understanding that Mesmer did a lot more damage and was more fragile, but I’ve never played Mesmer, so I wouldn;t know :I
Its more Fragile only in that it has a lower base health than a Necro but then again so does a guardian…..
As long as you keep your distance a Mesmer can own the battlefield
you big bunch off hoarders
