Yes, the things that hurts the most is seeing build variety gettin eroded patch by patch, build by build.
It flattens the Mesmer variety to a depressing state.
PvE: Phantasm DPS.
WvW zerg: Glamour master – usually not even confusion anymore cause it’s nearly useless. You’re just a Veil bot.
tpvp: shatter – oh wait, that’s not viable anymore too cause even slotting evey possible cleanse you will be r*ped by conditions.
the only playfield where there is a little of variety probably is spvp (aka: play with bads) and roaming in WvW.
For everything else, running something different from listed above is going to make your perfomance extremely underwhelming.
The warrior can’t provide much support to his group apart from providing group DPS via FGJ, banners, etc.
Considered that Warriors already have a easy access to high DPS (i mean, it’s extremely easy to hit hard as war. there are builds on other profs hitting harder, but they will need to meet a lot more circumstances and needs much more attention – like a LH ele, for example. Warrior can be played sitting on Axe auto spamming DPS buffs and it’s already good dmg) and, most important, that DPS atm is everything in DGs, those facts alone place it in top tier pve class.

Anyway, again: the issue with zerker is just having good players telling bad player that it’s the only thing to use – or something like “if you’re not zerk you’re bad” – and thus creating a tons of bad zerk users.
I have no issue wit zerk players, but you must be able do provide facts for qualify as good enough to use it.
I prefer a thousand times a honest guy saying “i don’t feel like to use zerk, so i’ll go with zerk + knight” and then play properly to a “ima good ima use zerk don’t care what you say” player that spend half of time in the DG as carpet.

At least, they said “no big balance until PAX ended”.
Thyey’re holding back any balance changes due to PAX tournament.
We’ll have to see what will be done today (patch day so at least some balancing/bugfix should slip in there), but i’d wait the fisrt balance patch after PAX before judging the direction of balance.

Just revert the token change on top of that, and you have a decent update: 1 one time daily big reward, to push ppl to do multiple paths, and a small reward char bound (plus the tokens thing) to get ppl running a path again. Atm it just ruins grouping.

Anything that unbalance economy must be gutted at first sight.
Cof farm should have been butchered when it became so diffused, not let the farm going for 6 months or so with a huge amount of extra gold trown in economy.
Let’s hope they’ve learned from that mistake.
That said, about Orr farming, before any economic consideration: it exploits a game mechanic by deliberately failing a event in order to farm mobs that it spawn. Failing a event should never be better than succeding at it, by design, and Anet confirmed this.
So yeah, idk when they will act neither what they’re going to do, but if you enjoy farming that i’d do it now. It won’t last.
The question here is, in WvW is power more important than condition damage?
In zerg vs zerg clashes, yes.
Beware: conditions will still be very strong. Poisoning enemy to reduce the hp they can recover can be a decisive move. Movement impairing conditions are extremely important. And any other condition that will cover those to prevent them to get cleansed too fast, or to apply additional pressure to enemy, will be useful.
But, unlike spvp/roaming, with condition dmg you will not kill stuff. There are multiple issues, but most important is that a)conditions can get cleansed extremely fast in large groups and b)the “time window” to apply conditions when the 2 zergs clashes is usually very small, thus direct dmg is better.
Again, conditions aren’t useless per se: but they will work as accessory dmg and pressure, not as main killer.
As said, in a large battle scenario.

If i am correct (i might not be) it was nerfed into not being used at all.
In pvp at launch was over the top, so it got nerfed, and they did the right thing toning it down.
But then they nerfed again.
And again.
After some time (can’t recall how much) Paragon became simply non existant in pvp (and with non existant i mean that NOBODY used it except some RA/duel gimmick builds. Had some friends playing pvp on daily basis telling me a couple of years ago that they didn’t see a Paragon in 2+years of play) and with a single (but strong) build in PvE, relying on a “pve only” skill taken from warrior profession.
Honestly, i don’t think they really know WHAT they want mesmers to be…

It is sad that we have to use a broken ridiculously overbuffed set up to deal with this equally broken encounter but until anet fixes it it is the only way for us get the rewards we deserve.

Issue with gw2 pvp (and game as whole) in a single image.
The only thing i’d want from Lupi is having his base ideas and mechanics implemented at least for the end boss of the other DGs paths.
Phases – and how good you clear first might determine how harsh will the boss be
Not so much oneshotkills (if full hp, ofc) – even most dangerous moves like barrage or bubble are composed by multiple ticks.
Dodge/survivability tools check – ’nuff said.
If you think that you have too few options as trait build as guardian (pve talking) i have one simple suggestion for you.
Don’t use AH.
Actually, don’t put any points in Valor (because if you’re not using AH, there’s very little might interest you here).
Suddendly, by unlockying those 30 pts way too many ppl can’t give up, the options becomes much much wider.
Most WPs are still placed with the zerg rushing in mind (that makes you think about when was last serious update do DGs).
They should do a re-run across all paths and give them new locations, with some thought in it.

Point is that trashing the only 5+ player pvp, w/o any capturing points crap, which is in a very embrional state (you know, no tools from game/anet part. lucky that there’s a place large enough for it already) with the “It’s not worth it cause GvG in Gw1 was better” makes 0 sense, first cause “GvG” is just a name (2 guilds teams killing each other → gvg name, nothing meant to regard Gw1 GvG), second cause the lowest pvp of Gw1 is better than everything in Gw2 already (yes, even the precious tpvp which is going to be at PAX).

About “WvWGvG” the thing is simple: there are 2 guild group killing each other. GvG. Don’t remain attached to the meaning of the term in Gw1 – it sounds like blasphemy but you know, the whole Gw2 pvp is compared to Gw1.
About this:
-it’s done in wvw for a reason. Unless the arena lets players use pve gear, then makes no sense (shows how little you know about it yet claim to make the threads “in the right section”. Hint: spvp is the wrong one)
-it’s a deathmatch because that’s the best you can achieve to organize w/o any game/dev side tool. Guilds don’t play this group slaughter cause they think it’s the top of pvp – they do cause if you despite conquest (ps: it’s crap) and want more than 4 team mates (huge group play), wvw it’s all there is, and in wvw a deathmatch is the best you can hope to do.
Ultimately, it’s just Anet fault not being able or willing to give us a real pvp with guild involvement.
Oh, and just saying, nothing in Gw2 has real “team work”, neither spvp or tpvp or wvw or gvg – compared to Gw1, they ALL lose by a LONG shot.
As guard in wvw, i’d never drop staff, at least as off-set. It packs tooooo much good stuff to pass on for me- swiftness, might +heal, 1200 range stability-check…
Ad main set you con roll pretty much whatever you want, but always carry your staff in wvw.

If “playing wvw” means doing it “effectively”, thus blob 80+ players 24/7, run from any fair fights or when you’re not outnumbering enemy 3:1, then bunker up all day in T3 keeps with ACs, then yes.

But GvG is not WvW at all, so I can’t really see how you can claim to be the “backbone of skilled WvW-play” since you don’t actually do WvW-play at ALL.

I’d change it althogheter to a new functionality.
With Confusion and Retal so spanked in pvp, wvw and useless in pve, a little cut in CD or up in stacks/duration will not make it viable.
So, in regards to GvG and openfield, I don’t see a lot of “rampant speculation” going on. If nothing else, you chose your words poorly. The complaints about this new system potentially killing the GvG scene is entirely grounded.

Well, thanks to be honest, at least we can stop hoping for updates discourgaing that, pushing to a different wvw meta.
Hint: you’re doing the worst thing for wvw longevity with this line. Guilds are the soul of wvw. Guilds play the best wvw. The game mode as you made it and as you pushed it now to this meta is terribly boring and bad. It’s plenty of suggestions to revert this trend. Ignoring the backbone of skilled wvw play and the whole bunch of suggestions to punish the current meta and push it towards more small scale figths across map, you’re actually killing any future of decent wvw. And you’re killing 1/3rd of your game.

Lupicus is a dodge-mastery check for like 99% of the time.

Only the bubble (animation is faster than you dodge, and can’t dodge out of it anymore – you can while in it tho, as long as you don’t touch borders…) and the projectile barrage (only cause it’s a bit wonky at times) might require you to actually use something more, like blocks/leaps/invulns/teleports.
About grubs, if you’ve let him eat some, it’s your problem not having dealt with those before. You can always reset the fight btw.

Zerk: cause in PvE dps is what matter AND as mesmer you have so many ways to avoid dmg that it’s even easier to run than other profs.
Soldier: cause WvW needs tankyness!
Rabid/Rampager: if you’re digging a condition build (Rabid>Rampager if you’re aming for wvw use)

Low DPS makes dungeons longer, not harder per se.
Then ofc, longer fights = larger window for mobs hitting you, added to the defensive stat not being able to actually mitigate dmg effectively = risk. Which with some dodging and active defense, makes glass cannons the best route. Not arguing about this.
But DPS just makes things easier or faster.
The encouters where the only strategy is “DPS down that dude” and everything else don’t work could be counted on one hand probably.
I know that the “full zerk everywhere or gtfo” is trendy on forums right now, but not everybody needs/want/can play that way.
I personally did few runs with a zerk group organized (no, i’m not talking about cof). Didn’t have much issues for the running itself – but kitten , almost fell asleep when the runs were for 99% of encouters “come stack here – pull – Los – cleave s*it down – move to next pull”.
Never again.
Zerk is the most effective gear for most of pve content? Yes.
Is it the only and single option that the world should accept? No.
Which doesn’t mean ppl shold run bad builds, mind you.
But “not full zerk” =/= bad build. (unless you’re min/maxing the cr*p out of a build. then running everything else zerk would cripple it, yes. Though, return to point “not everyone enjoy that”)

Just one thing: don’t nerf the loot of champs.
But the scaling with all these unnecessary champ – AND – the ultra fast respawning due to a event failing/stalling are making it getting out of hand.
For example, queensdale rate of champ killing is fine. There are no exploitable events. Respawn is short and there are multiple champs to kill, but once you get loot you can only wait for it to respawn – also, they do not increase in numbers depending on the size of the zerg killing them.
Events spawning 5 to 10 champs in a 3 min timespan that can be failed on purposes and if failed restarts within 60 seconds with same champs with same loot….well, THAT needs to be adressed.
But don’t touch the loot itself, that is prefectly fine and has been a nice addition to game rewards.
Silvary, cuz hipster is better.
AP always rewarded consistence and dedication to game rather than skill.

As long as that cash isnt’ invested into fixing/improving the game, my position is “i don’t care”.
Even with an optimized group its still long, even if its not hard (That’s what she said >_>). I think a better reward would be good there simply because it’s more time input either way. I’m still not motivated to do that path.
Agree – and would say that same reasoning should be applyed to HotW P2 and P3.
Longish, boring bosses, underwater combat… definitely should reward more than 1g.

Aside the various hack/exploits that made orbs extremely easy to flip, the main reason to take out orbs was that the buff of 50 to 150 to all stats was plain OP, and favouring the most numerous/winning/zergish server, for a horrible snowballing effect.
Orbs mechanic itself wasn’t that bad. Ofc, it has been easier to take them away rather than fix all the holes in keeps and exploits to flip them, but whatever.
Now you’re telling us that orb will not come back (as said, don’t mind if a less exploitable mechanic take place) but the OP buff that led you to take them out for all this time will?

4 out of 5 suggestions are based on your first idea, which isn’t going to happen, thus we’re left with nothing.
I mean, surely breaking the zoneblob meta into 5x 20vs20 across the map would solve a LOT of issues with wvw currently – skill lag flipping lack of tactics etc – but the idea of reducing the already absymal rewards of wvw…not too found of it.
Also, Anet already said they won’t do something like that iirc (for usual “no room to griefing allies” policy).
How to then? By making blobbing less effective.
Larger maps.
No WP to keeps under assault.
Scoring system not unbalanced so heavily on coverage.
And so on… (there are a lot of other suggestions on topic, not going to list them all)

c) as usual, it’s the zoneblob meta that leds to this situations.
Simply, the new “limiting currency” for gear is not karma anymore (remember first months, ppl farming Cursed Shore for ages to grind the karma for exotic pieces?) but laurels.
Karma has become a nice extra to regular rewards, either to gear alts (with temples) pick up some shiny stuff or, usually, be dropped in a crapload of orrian boxes for extra reward.
New reward system is fine – the only thing that should be reverted is the token nerf, because takes away the will to do a path more than once per day.
You still will not get the 1/3g reward, but champ chests + tokens (which can always become ecto if cof coe arah hotw) would be enough to make ppl repeating paths again (on different chars maybe tho).
Aside the token issue, this system is MUCH better.
For a plain goldmaking dungeonrunning:
Before – farm you a** off in CoF p1 (for 99% of ppl, DG focused teams/guilds usually farmed arah afaik)
Now – do multiple different paths across all the dungeons.
The farming is muuuuuch more enjoyable. Oh, and yelds like double the money of old cof, if you’re decent.

Ele and Engi close followers.
Guard (if not played with braindead hammer auto AH/EM build), Nec, War (if played with full dps build somewhere else than cof, making you need to dodge and survive with skills)
Thief.
Guardian (with the brainded build) War and Ranger.
Most boring.
So yeah, builds/playstyle have quite a weight in stating if a prof is boring or not.
