I assume you’re running lemongrass poultry soup food as well as geomancer’s freedom in earth. In my opinion I think the 90 toughness would be worth the condi reduction loss really, as it helps general survivability in the long term than just a negligible shorter condi duration. Whatever you have left over in condi reduction is clearly above 90% so any effects that will immobilize, cripple, or chill will literally be next to nothing already.

I think the grandmaster minor for air is a good trait as it is (Personally I’d prefer it as a adept tier trait though, as a lot of other classes inflict vuln or some other condi on crit sooner) I do have an interesting adept minor idea though. We could rework it to:

Zephyr’s Freedom: Remove immobilize when attuning to air. Chill, Cripple and Immobilize durations are reduced by 33% while attuned to air.

I also have a good idea for the grandmaster water and air minor traits as well, which are as follows:

Bountiful Power: Moved to Arcane Grandmaster 25

Regenerative Waters: Regeneration lasts 33% longer. (Replaces Water Grandmaster 25)

At 80 there’s quite a few armor sets that look quite good on asura! If you wanna look like a puff ball, twilight arbor armor is nice and especially cute, but it does have clipping issues with the shoulders sometimes depending on ur hairstyle. You could also try what I did and use a feathered craft set with a conjurer’s mantle, with dry bones gloves and shoes. It really gives a wizardly look. Could even slap a koda helmet for the circlet look.

Scepter: I feel a lot of skills here solely depend on the opponent standing still, or are otherwise incapacitated. I feel we should remove some of the static regarding this glaring issue. Scepter also lacks sustained damage in 2/4 of its attunements.

- Fire #1: Flamestrike ~ Where to begin… The physical damage is VERY poor for this skill, the channel time is WAY long, and the burn isn’t very sustainable unless you’re running a condi build. Please give a physical damage specced ele a chance to do some sustained damage through this. Increase the base physical damage and reduce the channel time to 1/2 to 3/4 seconds.

- Fire #2: Dragon’s Tooth ~ Skill hits like a ton of bricks when it hits… if it hits. If the foe isn’t immobilized or stunned prior to casting this, they can easily walk out of the small AoE circle. Nothing needs to be changed damagewise, but let’s make this skill ground targetable, so that we can at least have more control over the skill for either holding choke points or blast finishing. Prehaps even inflict burning in the AoE under the dripping lava spire for 2 seconds while they stay under it.

- Water #2: Shatterstone ~ This has a really short cooldown, but a LONG wind up time. A 1s cast, with the shatterstone exploding 2s after cast. That’s 3 seconds. Stuff often moves out of range too often for this. I propose two possible fixes for this:

1) Reduce the shatterstone explosion time to 1 second.
2) Increase the cooldown to 5 seconds, add a blast finisher to it.

- Water #3: Water Trident ~ This heal/attack is kinda underwhelming compared to the Dagger Water #2 Cone of Cold skill. That and it has a twice the cooldown. Again, two possible fixes for this:

1) Reduce the cooldown to 15 seconds.
2) Add a 300 unit range knockback on impact. (This is similar to how it worked in Guild Wars 1)

- Earth #1: Stone Shards ~ Again, too little physical damage sustain with this auto attack. Increase base damage.

- Earth #3: Dust Devil ~ I can’t help but laugh every time as this is named after a vacuum… xD Anyways, the skill seems a bit underwhelming for the 15s CD. I’d suggest increasing the base damage done with this skill.

Focus: This weapon does make an excellent defensive weapon with 3/8 of its skills having great defensive utility, however the other 5 need quite a bit of work to make it more useful out of Air and Earth attunes. Focus should IMO focus mostly on control effects and defensive utility, as it currently does, but it needs to do a bit better on the control effects.

- Fire #4: Flamewall ~ Damage is weak, burn only lasts a second… the only useful thing this has going for it is that it’s a fairly long-lasting fire field… it should be more than this. It needs to punish people who even dares to cross the field. I have a few proposed fixes:

1) Increase the base damage of the skill.
2) Increase the burn duration for crossing the fire field, equal, if not more than the duration to Fire Dagger #4’s Ring of Fire skill.
3) Add a 1s Fear to anyone that enters the fire line. (This suggestion is more unusual yes, but we need some way to punish people for “crossing the line”, right?)

- Fire #5: Fire Shield ~ This skill has WAY too long of a cooldown for the underwhelming effects this does. Again, a few suggestions for this:

1) Halve the cooldown of this skill.
2) Increase the burn duration to 3 seconds per attacker.

- Water #4: Freezing Gust ~ For a single target chill, this has a really high cooldown… especially compared to Water Dagger #3’s Frozen Burst skill. Two suggestions to fix this skill:

1) Reduce the cooldown to 20s
2) Make the chill an AoE 240 unit radius chill around your target, targeting up to 5 foes.

-Water #5: Comet ~ This is actually a pretty good skill when used right, but can still use a bit of improvement.

1) Increase the radius of the comet to 240 units.
2) Make it an AoE comet, effecting up to 3 foes in the target’s area. Increase cooldown to 30s

- Air #5: Gale ~ A ranged single target knockdown REALLY doesn’t warrant having a 50s cooldown. Tone the cooldown to 30 seconds at the very most.

I’m not sure how much exposure these suggestions might get with the Anet staff, but the main point I’m getting across is, eles need a tweaking at the core of their class, and not just trait rebalances. Possibly then we can stop all the ele hate then.

I’d like to post some changes to weapon skills that I’ve been thinking about for all ele weapons, as with as much reworking as Anet have been doing, (the last balance update was definitely a turn for the better) you can only change certain traits so much, as there are great traits we have mainly centered around Water and Arcane, and somewhat Earth, but not as much synergy is present with Fire and Air, and Earth could still use some improvement. I’m feeling like ele’s main problem isn’t with our trait setups as a whole, but it has to do with our core setups as we have the lowest base health while being a light armor class, yet we don’t have much anything apparent to show for it (Like Thieves rectify their low health with a vast number of evades, teleports, and stealths, and Guardians have naturally high toughness, potent heals, and good damage mitigation). We do (or did, your opinion) take advantage of high boon uptimes and constant HoTs (Heal over Time) and small burst heals to make up for this, as well as cover skills like the old Mist Form which let us heal while under a cloak of invincible water droplets, with cantrips being great for all your stun breaking needs, but a lot of our survivability mechanics centered around this were severely nerfed, leaving us with nothing much to compensate. As a D/D ele, our mobility was even nerfed as well as our damage for traiting heavily into water. Eles sorely need a defining CLASS mechanic to make up a justifiable reason for us to have such low base health and armor.

One way we could start off balancing eles’s core mechanics could be the reworking of some of our weapon skills and utilities, as a good number of skills that are deemed next to useless and utilities never see the light of day in any PvP or WvW environment setup. I’d like to start with weapon skills mainly. Some ideas for anet for weapon skills could be as follows:

Dagger: A lot of dagger skills are already in a good place, though some skills just need some minor tweaking to be fine.

- Fire #5: Fire Grab ~ All this needs is a rework or fix of the hit box mechanics and this could be a fine skill. It’s very often hard to hit anyone on the move and/or strafing around you to hit this reliably.

- Air #2: Lightning Touch ~ Same as above.

- Air #5: Ride the Lightning ~ Too many people have already voiced their opinion on this skill, and there’s no justifiable reason to keep this skill as it is. Revert the cooldown back to 15s, keep the current distance and get rid of the stupid double cooldown on miss mechanic.

- Earth #1: Impale ~ I understand that earth is meant to be mainly for conditions, but it at least needs to be somewhat viable for power builds as well. Powerwise it hits too soft to be a viable auto attack for if you’re stuck in earth attune, and the distance it reaches, for an earth spire, it’s too close range that I can barely hit anything that isn’t horridly close up. Raise the base damage of this skill and increase the range of this skill to 600 units, matching up with Vapor Blade. If you feel the need to, lower the bleed duration for each spire in ratio with the physical damage increase if you need to balance this.

- Earth #4: Earthquake ~ Could use a cooldown reduction, seeing as it’s a small AoE knockdown. 30s isn’t anything unreasonable. That way it can sync way better with…

- Earth #5: Churning Earth ~ This is already a pretty good skill itself, and the damage and bleeds it does definitely justifies the cooldown. The one annoying thing is if it’s interrupted at any point in mid-channel that the cooldown completely resets, in which you have nothing to show for leaving yourself completely open for 3 seconds. The same also holds true if you yourself move while channeling this skill. I have an interesting suggestion to improve this skill!

I saw something interesting on the Wiki that this skill used to be a Charge Skill (http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Charge_skill) We could revert it back to this, as it was before, and do a certain amount of damage based on how long you hold the channel.

1/4 to 1s ~ 75% less damage done, 2 stacks of bleeds
1 1/4s to 2s ~ 50% less damage done, 4 stacks of bleeds
2 1/4s to 3s ~ 25% less damage done, 6 stacks of bleeds
3 1/4s ~ After the 1/4s Casts 1 second knockdown on last cripple pulse before the max charge eruption, dealing full damage and 8 stacks of bleeds, punishing people for staying in the AoE. (Knock down is completely optional by the way)

Yea and if you miss 1 dodge youre instantly dead. No other class in the game can accomplish ANYTHING like this. This type of damage is a completely other ballpark than any other ability in the game. And pls, dont come at me claiming that you always dodge whenever youre about to take damage because thats pure nonsense.

4 hits, and I was dead. while a warrior is a heavy armor class and I’m a light armor class.
I’ve gotten 9k backstabs from thieves before as well. Same goes for mesmers, a decent shatter combo can 1 shot me. Almost every class has 1 shot combo builds. On the top of my head I can probably name for every class a 1 shot build.

Warrior, axe build
Guardian, meditations
Thief, backstab build
Engineer, rifle with static discharge
Rangers, greatsword (yes I’ve seen certain rangers reach 7k crits with Maul.)
Mesmer, shatter build obviously
Necro’s, power build with ds/lichform
Elementalists, Arcane build

Although some might not be as effective as the elementalist his 1 shot builds, it only seems like that cause there are way more other viable builds for these classes then this kitten. I can guarantee you almost no elementalist runs this, in all honestly, it’s a pretty bad build if you ask me.

Also a good tip is when you see the elementalist rais his feet up in the air from a distance, you know he’s gonna lightning flash towards you to do the combo cause there’s no reason for him to cast earthquake from a distance.

Runes for a build of mine

Your build looks as bunker as it can get really xD It seems itself like that build will let you be able to do a pretty good job at what you’re aiming for your build to do, just don’t expect to turn the tide damagewise… tho if I can offer some alternatives…

You could replace your trinket set with some cleric accessories to boost heal power, which scales great with eles and give u more of a support role without losing much in survivability. I ran something similar to this effect when I first made my ele, and I’ll tell u it can survive some crazy stuff!

As for rune choices, if you want to try out an aura sharing build, you could try out Rune of the Earth, that way with your D/D set, you’ll have access to all 4 elemental auras in one build. You’ll also have more protection uptime and toughness this way too. You could also try out the 2 monk, 2 water, 2 traveler rune combo for 75 heal power and up to 75% boon duration for your build as well! And I tried dolyak runes as a first choice for my ele before I switched to earth runes then and… The health regen from those runes just aren’t worth it to me.

I’d also use a different food than the might on dodge one, with Renewing Stamina the food’s endurance regen might get outshined by the vigor procs… I could suggest the one that gives heal power based off toughness and vitality, I forget what it’s called though >.<

We already have the golems in terms of mobile vehicle warfare, its just completely wasted in terms of potential. Adding tanks would just add more wasted potential because it’d have to be expensive and boring by design not to upset the “balance” of static siege being much cheaper, much stronger and spammable in any direction.

You’d have to change the siege completely for it to work. But its never going to happen. Anet doesnt have to suffer a rain of 10 arrowcarts on their way to the bank so they dont care.

It doesn’t have to be designed as a “seige weapon” for just walls or doors, but you could also think of it as an anti-personel seige weapon for zergs, like ACs but mobile, but it could also only be place outside of keeps and towers, so’s to balance that piece of seige out. Think of it as a “First line breacher”

(And again, “constructive” critisisms. I know perfectly well the idea would be a shot in the dark, but I’d like to think of ways this COULD work for WvW)

Just strolling through charr lands for map completion, seeing all the charr machinery, then I see THIS badboy and several others like it… why can’t we have charr tanks in WvW? That would be friggen awesome to have IMO! :P

Edit: I think this could possibly deflate the “zerg” meta if its balanced right :P

It is possible to target someone here. Reason I ask is in all my time playing I have never been hit there. I was targeted by both a necro and an engineer while operating the arrow cart.

Heya, I was that engi that was nade spamming your AC on that screenshot! But yes, from where I was standing I can arc my grenades just over the door and just under the archway over it at max distance with my grenadier trait to hit that AC there. It’s quite a handy trick sometimes Idn if the necro can manage to target that without a LoS tho, as I was sure I was the only one hitting it at the time. I’ll provide a screenie to this tomorrow when I wake up.

With regards to Arcane Precision, it is a VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY (I can’t say this enough) stupid and useless trait, and is insulting to even consider this a GRANDMASTER minor trait. As the OP said, it’s a measly 10% chance to proc on a critical hit (Same chances as the Sigil of Rage which procs quickness, which at least makes it somewhat useful). If you run low crit rate, this trait may as well be non-existent. Even WORSE is how underwhelming the effects are for that low of a proc rate when this trait is triggered. Look here:

Fire: 1 second of burn damage…
Water: 1 stack of vulnerability for 10s…
Air: 3 seconds of weakness…
Earth: 1 stack of a bleed for 5 seconds…

The KITTEN Anet, at least jack up the proc chance of this to make this trait at least noticeable… Like 33% chance at the very least (Preferably 66% since the effects are so terribad) if it’s gonna rely on crit chance, or take the crit chance out as the OP said and make it a 10% chance on a regular hit, as a crit chance trait doesn’t really have a place in the arcane line. It’s seriously appauling that this is even a grandmaster trait.

RTL is also uneffected by movement speed effects like cripple and chill as well. Even when considering this, it doesn’t really justify a 40s CD if it misses, gets dodged or blocked. The distance nerf and the 15s to 20s CD were pretty justifiable but the double CD on miss was pretty overkill… At the very least they need to get rid of that double CD mechanic when so many other classes can escape much better.

FYI – posting a screenshot of YOUR side spamming emotes (9 emotes vs 1 laugh) does not help your whine, unless you were talking about yourselves?

Sorry, that 1st screenshot was taken around when I first zoned into DR’s BLs after hearing about the behavior of that particular group, but the screenshot was moreso to point out the siege placing when I first saw what was going on myself. By then my guildies were pretty riled up so we kinda responded in kind. Since they were in my party, I mainly only saw our side of the emote wars until I got close enough.

GoM is still upset about “how” DR placed 2nd in the final week of the WvW Season

I dont understand this at all. “How” did DR place in 2nd? Far as I know its because we didnt just roll over while we were last, we kept trying – GoM gave up and rolled over, they could have still kept 2nd but didnt bother. I feel no sympathy for a server that spent most of the reset night/weekend zerging the hell out of our BL and basically ignoring AR.

I’m actually inclined to agree here as we only have ourselves to blame for that loss… Seeing since around Tuesday ppl already had defeatist attitudes, we can only do some self reflection of how ourselves and how we can move on past it. It reminds me a lot of our 3rd week matchup with FC and DH with what happened here; we simply gave up where it most mattered: Defense.

So… OP guild of DR, when u jump on corpses in a 1v7 or so (which started the whole thing) when you throw seige on my guildies (some uplvls for that matter), and spam emote against a group that’s half your size… REALLY makes you look bad, considering you guys aren’t that good individually.

And considering I got a 1v1 request rejected from their Silver Solder meta warrior commander that was the main culprit (Btw, at lowlands camp you threw blueprints at my feet prematurely when I got downed and rezzed. Ty for the blueprints while I was still stealthed =3), please make yourselves look more like fools

Had a very fun late night in DR BLs :P After wreaking some havok there papering towers and ninjaing Bay through AR I had a bit of fun dolying it up, which some passerby DR and AR found amusing! :P This group on the other hand… the pic says the rest

We knew you were on the map with numbers so we sorta gave you bay last night. We were just screwin with DR so hard. Hope you had fun Commander Dark Jean – much love from the [HK] + [Yolo] havoc squad.

On the contrary I only had a little havok squad of my own with 8-10 ppl with the outnumbered buff on the whole time :P Basically we were trying to take stuff where the zergs weren’t and when we saw the orange swords at Hills after we tore up the north we decided to yolo the breach of the Bay wall against our better judgement xD To my surprise I didn’t see any resistance on DR’s part then since they had a WP at Bay as I guess they were busy at Hills. Was pretty funny to see they lost Hills at the same time lol. We thought the AR group that took Hills would commit to DR’s garrison so we tried to ninja Hills but got spotted early Good stop there

I’m starting to think HoD is starting to develop stress fractures under it’s numbers and success lately. Mainly due to higher tier server groups trying to change low tier groups just wanting to have fun.

Thankfully, when GoM gets transfers, they already only want to have fun. It works out better that way.

HoD, your server is gonna fall apart from the look of things when you move into silver. It happened to NSP. Silver league tore them right in half. Either from [MU] getting frustrated with us lower tier people and leaving, or from lower tiers leaving to dodge the large zergs in silver. Its gonna happen.

Had a nice party over by HoD’s Briar :P It was pretty amazing how fast this happened as me and another guildie were in our ruminent tonics :P Even more amazing as the party continued even after a few sizable groups passed by xD Much fun to be had! Sry to the unfun extra HoDers that kept attacking us tho To the warrior the kept on attacking me after accidently auto-attacking, keep up the fuel for those afterburners on your GS :P Still, it at least gave me a good chance to test the mettle of my new necro! Hopefully this “death blossom” can tear it up in WvW =3

tl;dr fighting zergs at 1fps and winning because #1 spam is OP. Also, cleric guardians outheal everything.

I disagree… I can outheal a cleric guardian on my magi guardian.

I can also outrun a centaur.

uh, they give the same amount of healing power. Cleric guard would be tankier though.

In some situations, magi gets to heal dodge more through the more frequent crit vigor procs.

I imagine it’d hit like a wet blanket tho… what with having next to no way to deal damage anways… =/ Doesn’t seem very practical of a stat set for guardians.

Had a pretty fun time kitten ing around in AR BLs :P Met up with some old time friends and decided to do some whacky/suicidal stuffs! Unfortunately our poorly done golem rush was stomped, but that was just a clever distraction in disguise Costly, but effective :P (Mesmers ftw) xD

So… TFH… awful zergy in your BLs, but you might wanna work on your even number gameplay. Seems when we can best u guys then but then more of u show up to overwhelm all the time. =/

Still, way to hold your BLs on lockdown I guess…

‘Even numbers’ 4v1 or 2, yup ‘even’ gg. Anyway, gotta lock it down bro.

Yes, initially it’d be 1 or 2 ppl (Probably a scout for a camp) 1 min later being 8 of u guys… still, had a nice fight at lowlands that I can appreciate

Oh, im not saying that we dont kill you with superior numbers, im simply referring to your statement on how we need to improve our even game, and that I think our fights have gone from 2 TFH v 4 to 8-10 TFH v 4, no even fights

edit: I saw one even fight, 1v1, it was a draw

That was mainly a bit of frustration on my part at the lack of even fights I saw, (But WvW isn’t designed to be even does it?) and I apologize for that. My group’s steadily trying to improve group play as well as we’re mostly built for solo roaming, and so far today we’ve made pretty good progress. Frustrating day at first, but the fight at Lowlands turned it around. I’m usually pretty vengeful but I cool down quickly, lol :P

I will be honest too, I got vengeful when one of your guys sat on me after I was ganked by 4 of you. I apologize for finishing that 1 v 1

Yeah, I didn’t really approve much of the corpse sitting really, only would ever do so myself if truely deserved, but a 4v1 is a pretty unsatisfying time for that, unless said person emoted first at any time, which didn’t happen so… =/ Still sparks and flames were thrown and hopefully long forgotten, eh? I still look forward to roaming this matchup!

Had some GREAT duels at the fight club today! Had fun beating and getting beaten by some pretty variable builds and people on my engi and guardian!

Special shoutouts: To the VLK Sylvari Ele; You are a monster, and have inspired me to deshelve my ele in hopes to be as good as you! As ele is my main, I shall become great and give eles a good name for roaming/dueling again!

Good late night zerg free roaming in HoD BLs tonight! Special shout out to the VLK Guardian I 1v1ed at the ruins sentry. That was a great fight, and a great 1st day trial of my new engineer build! I still need to work on my nade work tho, HATE spam ground targeting… >.< After that it got a bit boring getting repeatedly jumped by 3 or 4+ HoD after that fight, but outnumbered buffs = no repercussions, so apologies if I may have seemed annoying to some constantly coming back like a roach :P I did have some good fights over camps afterwards when a buddy or two tagged along And some good 1v1s when I was alone!

SF has been outnumbered in 90% of every fight I’ve been in.

Lol, that’s a laugh… I’ve found it literally impossible to solo roam or small man w/o getting zerged all this matchup =/ The ppl I DO find alone tend to run until they run into some buddies, then suddenly get brave when they outnumber you… Fairweathers I guess.

Good little mini-fight club going on this minute in Kain ruins :P

Good fights and GvGs to KCRO and Apex of ET and the other Kain that came We may have gotten our butts kicked in the GvGs for the most part, but it’s definitely a learning experience as we haven’t done much in the way of coordinated group play :P
