I just tried this in-game and it worked fine for me.

That would make cleansing way too strong.

After all, you could just set it so that you always cleanse bleed/poison/burning first, before any of the non-damaging conditions.

Not to mention that on the opposite side, you could set it to prioritize Protection/Might/Vigor to absolutely wreck builds that function because of those boons.

Should Legendary require multiple game modes?

I wish they would make Legendaries untradeable again after a lengthy warning period so that people don’t get stuck with Legendaries they don’t want.

After that, they should change the current process so that it requires actual effort. Make the WvW gift requirement much, much more brutal. Bump up the required WvW level and tie it to the WvW seasons somehow. After that, add an element that requires lengthy amounts of time in sPvP.

Basically, make a Legendary what it should be: A sign of someone who has done all that the game has to offer.

(My thoughts when i realised i need 21 days to craft mawdrey)

Just another argument against time gate.

You know, when you want some free space it is more profitable to buy new account, especially during sales. We can utilize character slots + bank space.

Also, you can do more dailies and have more bonus chests from bosses.

Now, we can add another argument: crafting. We can craft more daily ingredients.

Arena.net, please, don’t force us to buy new accounts to abuse your system and avoid artificial barriers.

They’re not forcing you into anything. You are the one who thinks you should be getting that stuff faster.

Owning multiple accounts in games which require accounts isn’t exactly a rare thing. How many accounts do you think a hardcore WoW multiboxer has? How much more expensive do you think that is compared to the box price of GW2?

Hell, I remember happily buying another set of Diablo II and Diablo II: Lord of Destruction so that I could transfer stuff from one of my characters to the other without any risk of it being stolen or erased.

Multiple accounts for things like Dailies don’t make sense. The sheer amount of time it would take to break even when compared to using that money to buy Gems instead makes it a pretty bad trade.

If you’re complaining about time gating, at least complain in a way that makes some sense. At this point, you would be making more sense if you spammed this forum with 20 topics called “TIMEGATING SUCKS DONKEY kitten”.

These are the results after theorycrafting current problems and thinking of every possible outcome or situation that I could think of with these changes; including Restorative Strength with double heal skill, Mighty Defenses’ might gain when blocking with Blademaster, making these changes work for every possible weapon set such as Mace/Axe, Sword/Board, and more!

So… you “theorycraft every possible outcome”… and you don’t bother showing any of that process? Not a very good start.

As for your changes:

  1. Why should Cyclone Axe reflect projectiles? Cyclone Axe isn’t broken in any way, it’s very popular in PvE.
  2. Your Crushing Blow suggestion is OP. Not to mention that it promotes sitting on all of your adrenaline, which we already have enough of with Berserker’s Power, Adrenal Health and Heightened Focus.
  3. Where the heck did you get Knockback on Dual Strike? OH Axe is a damage weapon, not a CC weapon. The biggest problem with Dual Strike is that Whirling Axe currently kind of sucks and Warriors have too much Fury from other sources.
  4. Again, where the hell does condi removal on Stomp come from? I don’t think anyone has ever said “Man, Stomp would be awesome if I could take it in place of a condi clear”. Lower the cooldown and make the animation faster and it’ll be useable as-is.
  5. I think that your Inspiring Banners is a tad bit OP. Warriors already take Banner of Strength and Banner of Discipline in dungeons, you don’t need to make those stronger.
  6. I don’t like your version of Physical Training simply because Axes get Fury from Dual Strike and Greatsword gets it from Arcing Slice. If they were able to get Fury from Bull’s Charge, that’d make those skills even more useless. And your suggested fixes wouldn’t change that.
  7. You’ve basically revamped Furious Reaction into being a one-off anti-burst skill. Also, considering how Thieves play (strong in beginning, weak later on), this would make Furious Reaction a literal anti-Thief trait: it would trigger when they try to burst you down and instantly undo all of the damage and fill up your adrenaline. Furious Reaction is fine as-is.
  8. Your Deep Strike does nothing for Signet of Rage’s activation. Not to mention that it the effects on Signet of Fury and Signet of Might seem a bit strong, considering the typical use cases for their actives (Fury > Burst, Might to pierce blocks). And the Protection on Dolyak kind of worries me, too.
  9. Where the kitten did you get blocking on swords? Sword can already block by choosing Sword or Shield OH. If anything, you should be considering a cooldown reduction.
  10. Your Last Chance is ridiculously OP. Just try putting that on a Hammer or Mace/Shield.
  11. Your Cull the Weak looks to enable permanent weakness as long as you can keep attacking. Too strong.
  12. Your Opportunist would literally make any immobilize into a Stun. Opportunist + Leg Specialist + Sword or Hammer would be way too strong.
  13. Since I don’t agree with your Opportunist, I can’t agree on nerfing Leg Specialist either.
  14. What’s with the random nerf on Sharpened Axes?

New Suggestion System *Updated*

Im sorry, when the suggestion toll was up i never really saw anything being taken, first things first when the community thinks there a stupid idea everyone dislikes,it wont come out. Going back the mounts lots of people said its not the best idea. So if someone posted that everyone will say, No which means it wont come out. and i also said they would have to draw or give a sketch of how it looks like not just saying oh mounts because we need them, if the person cant really draw and show a example of what they want it wont get posted and wont be considerd

Clearly you’re not looking in the right places, then. Wallets, account bounded Ascended items, account bound Legendaries were all suggestions in the Suggestion Forum. There’s also multiple trait suggestions that were implemented in some form or another.

Just because ANet does not implement the big suggestions (Mounts, Cantha, Elona, new races, new professions) doesn’t mean they’re not listening. Heck, if you look at the livestreams, you’ll see the devs actually referencing recent forums topics occasionally.

And by the way, your idea is flawed in one simple way: You cannot expect them to implement a suggestion of arbitrary complexity within a month. For example, something like Cantha or Elona could take months of just planning and artwork. Then there’s testing it, filling it with NPCs, voice acting said NPCs, adding hearts or events…

Also, if you think that the community should be put in charge of artwork or balancing of skills, you are off your rocket in a major way. ANet has professional designers for a very good reason. And you sure as hell cannot think that the playerbase could be left in charge of balancing (particularly if it were done in a majority vote style).

Also, any poll that is on the internet can and will be manipulated by people. Just take a look at what 4chan has done to a ton of polls. And even without a force like 4chan, you would still have people using other means, such as proxies, to spam votes for their favorite ideas. Or are you going to tell me that someone obsessed with Cantha voting 10,000 times is actually as valuable as 10,000 individual people?

What if I design a race called “Dongians”, draw them to be a race of sentient gigantic kittenes that are to be designed to be objectively superior to all other professions and successfully rally to get a mass of voters behind that idea? Because I think the trolls of the internet would love that. Would you want that implemented in the game?

Final Thrust is a 3.0 coefficient at <50% HP. That’s the same as a full adrenaline Eviscerate. If you were expecting that kind of damage from Arcing Slice, considering that it was known to be an AoE and to grant ridiculous amounts of Fury, you’re on some serious drugs.

That’s the problem though, greatsword in no way needs another aoe attack, it doesn’t need another fury generator, it doesn’t need another way to restore endurance it doesn’t need anything. What it needs is basically what OP was asking for, an execute style attack. What it got was a 1.4 damage coefficient that hits like a wet noodle with a very obvious tell that is completely awful.

The thing is, if Arcing Slice was turned into an AoE with, say, a 2.5 coefficient, that would pretty much make Axe obsolete. GS would have superior mobility, comparable DPS and it would have an AoE burst with good damage.

Personally, I would have loved to see an Arcing Slice that worked well with Cleansing Ire, like Combustive Shot on Longbow. By that I mean a burst that would guarantee a Cleansing Ire proc, nothing else.

Collections: Non-RNG precursors!

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Olba.5376

Olba.5376

E.g. for The Chosen (Precursor for the legendary shield The Flameseeker Prophecies), the collection could include things like:

  • Several named exotic shields
  • A reward from the final personal story step
  • A dragon finisher
  • Collectible books from heart vendors
  • Rare drops from some dungeons/ world events
  • An ascended shield
  • Many more obscure and hard-to-get items.
  1. Get Gold, buy from TP
  2. Meh
  3. PVP FOR MAH SKINS!?
  4. Meh
  5. RNG BULLkitten
  6. TIMEGATING!

Basically, what you’ve suggested wouldn’t really change a thing. Heck, you even included an actual RNG element (with no alternative), which is far, far worse than what we currently have for Precursors.

The thing is, people asked for the scavenger hunt for 2 reasons. Firstly, it’d be doing content to get your precursor, instead of buying it from someone. Secondly, it’d be less dependent on random drops, which would mean actually progressing towards the precursor.

Of course, there are also those who simply think that any content they could possibly put into the game would be a far, far easier, quicker and cheaper way to get Precursors and that’s why they want it.

So this game takes what we loved from gw1 ?

If you think that T6 mats and precursors are the most used goods in the game, you clearly don’t know a thing about the game. Those are top tier goods used for top tier stuff, which is not even close to the most used goods in the game.

Just because you’re not using lower tier mats or food ingredients in your pursuit for an Eternity (because that’s what all of you’re doing, right?) doesn’t somehow mean that there aren’t 10 guys for every one of your like using those goods.

The Colossus. From a champion bag after doing fractals. I thought it was impossible, but here I am with it in my inventory. I was wondering if anyone has ever heard of trading precursors through mail.

Have heard of it. Have heard of people being scammed in it.

Also why hasn’t there been a “Player Trading System” implemented into the game yet. It’s not the precursor I want and the gold isn’t enough to get me the one I want.

There isn’t a player-to-player trading system because the BLTP does everything that you need, except for direct item-to-item trading.

You know, your last statement kind of makes me feel really, really sad. It looks like you’re wanting to trade your bad precursor for a more valuable one. Depending on who you ask, that would also be a form of “scamming”, in that you’re implying that all precursors have the same inherent value due to being “precursors”.

Well I mean a Trading system like in Diablo II, where you would meet the player and a window would pop up and you could place the item you both were trading in your windows. Then both have to confirm trade for it to go through,

You do know that Diablo II was notorious for trading scamming? A standard way to pull it off was:

  1. Scammer fills their inventory and puts the real item in the window, all goes well until the final confirmation.
  2. The final confirmation does not go through because the scammer has no space.
  3. The trade window gets closed and the scammer “goes to make some inventory space”.
  4. The trade restarts, but the scammer now puts another item with an identical icon into the trade window.
  5. The other person goes through with the trade, only realizing after its done that they got a different item.

There were also issues where lag could cause the timers in the trade window to malfunction. Start a trade with some heavy downloads bogging your internet connection and you could do the whole “swap the item” without the timer getting triggered at all, or getting triggered for a shorter duration.

Auto-cast ground target option?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Olba.5376

Olba.5376

I’d love this if they add a check to make sure you can see the ground point below your target before casting it. Else it would be super OP on walls at keeps or towers in WvW.

Which is one reason why I don’t think this would be implemented. It would confuse the crap out of people, particularly since the red messages informing you of targets being out of range and whatnot are even less visible than the rather visible green circle of a ground targeted skill.

It would also completely change the gameplay on a staff Ele or staff Necro, since a lot of their skills are ground targeted.

Lastly, it would kitten up Consecrated Ground since it would effectively make all of them to be on-target casts, which doesn’t make any sense.

Physical Training - Fury & Adrenaline

in Warrior

Posted by: Olba.5376

Olba.5376

- Instead of a damage increase physical utilities should grant 5s of fury if they hit a target.
- Physical utilities should grant 10 adrenaline (1 bar) if they hit a target.
- Stomp should remove 5 (or 3) conditions when used.
- Mending should become a physical utility that when paired with this trait grants 5s of fury and 10 adrenaline (1 bar) when used.

  1. But we already have tons of Fury. Heck, people say that Axe 4 isn’t good enough because all it provides is more Fury. Same is true for Arcing Slice. The thing is, Guardians do the whole “triple utilities that grant Fury on use” with their Meditations already, so giving the exact same thing to Warriors seems kind of bland.
  2. 10 per use or 10 per target hit? Because if it’s the latter, it’s not going to happen, particularly not since Kick can hit up to 3 targets on a 20s cooldown (16s traited).
  3. Why? That doesn’t seem very coherent with the rest of the Physical lineup. You know, you could totally make Stomp awesome just by making the Stability it grants a bit longer. Make it 5-6s instead of 1s and it’ll see plenty of use.
  4. EH? What? Nothing about Mending says Physical to me. Previously, I have seen people ask for Mending to be Physical so that Physical Training would double its healing, but you’re doing away with the damage bonus so I figured this wouldn’t apply to it. Also, Mending with a -20% cooldown would be ridiculously strong at 327 hp/s.

Small changes to making some of the garbage traits/skills in the game, not garbage.
These changes will allow a warrior to be competitive without stances, signets or shouts

Because Stances, Signets and Shouts aren’t diverse enough for you? And heck, if you’re going to bring up Shouts, you might as well bring up Banners.

The issue with Physical is not that they’re not properly supported, it’s that there’s too many issues. Stomp has too long of a cooldown for its function. Bolas has tracking issues. Bull’s Charge has tracking issues, but still sees use with Greatsword. Kick is only a knockback, which could benefit Hammer, but it’s not really worth the utility spot.

(edited by Olba.5376)

Physical Training should be in Adept

in Warrior

Posted by: Olba.5376

Olba.5376

Wait, people use kick?

I would still not use it, as Short Temper or DfA are better. Even the Power>Vit trait is better IMO.

One would just never slot more then 1 physical utility, which makes the 20% reduction not worth it.

In order for Physical Training to become interesting, the utility skills associated with it need a buff first.

I use kick in my condition build because on top of its low coodlown and quick interupt, I can use it to stack confusion when I trait for Distracting Strike.

So basically you’re just looking for a way to get a condi build with 4 into Strength instead of 6.

The thing is, the reason why no one is taking Physical Training is not because it’s ill-placed in the trait line. It’s because most of the Physical utilities themselves are rarely used. Rather than boosting Physical Training, I think you should be looking at boosting the Physical utility skills. Unless, of course, you’re only really interested in buffing your condi build.

For example:

  • People don’t use Throw Bolas because it has notorious issues with tracking
  • People don’t use Stomp because it has a long cooldown and Blast Finishers and Launching being mostly useful in very few builds
  • People don’t use Kick because Knockback is the least useful hard CC and the only weapon that benefits from it (hammer) already has a knockback

Bull’s Charge sees occasional use, particularly with setups that use Greatsword.

[Suggestion]Unlockable stats on ascended gear

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Olba.5376

Olba.5376

You’re forgetting one important thing:

Legendaries are massive, massive item sinks. Ascended items are not. That is important because by making Ascended account bound, ANet has already made the impact that Ascended has on the material economy dwindle, as you can use a single set across multiple characters as long as they are ok with the same set of stats.

Allowing Ascended gear to change stats would mean that you could easily play the game with just 1 set of ascended armor. After all, you cannot play two characters on the same account at the same time, so buying multiple sets of Ascended armor would only make sense from a convenience point of view.

However, if we’re talking about a stat change mechanic that required the Mystic Forge, that could be worked around. But even there, you would still need to make sure that it comes with an appropriate item sink. For example, your recipe could be something like this:

  • 1 Ascended piece of gear + 1 Zojja’s Insignia + 1 Vision Crystal + 1 Item X = 1 Zojja’s Ascended gear

Where the Item X would be a new item made from a bunch of T6 materials or something.

Basically, rather than having a recipe that makes your item able to swap stats on the fly, add in recipes that allow you to trade in 1 set of stats for another.

Extra Credits - F2P Is Currently Broken

in Black Lion Trading Co

Posted by: Olba.5376

Olba.5376

While the video is about f2p games GW2 is very much alike f2p games due to how the long-term business model is constructed. GW2 is very clearly catering to new players and ‘whales’ and not much to anyone else. All the armor skins since launch (except ascended) and most of the weapon skins are gemstore exclusive. Gemstore stuff is pretty much all the content we are getting these days and it’s hurting the game. Veteran players quitting because there’s no reason to stay, majority of the updates are catered to new players and players with lots of extra money to put on the game every month.

Just watch the video and you can see how it applies to this game and how harmful it is. Sure GW2 is not nearly the worst offender in this regard but its still more predatory of your money that many actually f2p games are. A person who bought this game after fractals were released has barely gotten any worth of their money in post-purchase development unless they particularly enjoy the living story which I find very sad. GW2 was supposed to be the MMORPG that proves that you don’t need a subscription-model to provide quality content…

It really feels like you watched the video, saw that it talked about f2p and wrote the post. Because it really seems like you missed the whole point of the video. There were basically two points in the video, neither of which apply to GW2:

  1. F2P that is designed so that you have to spend hundreds or thousands of dollars to get the “good stuff” is bad. This clearly does not apply to GW2, since all of the outfits in it are very cheap. The only “good stuff” that is expensive would be the convenience items that are in the Black Lion Chests. But those are just that: convenience items. They’re not something you expect nor plan to sell a lot of. And in the case of GW2, those items have to be rare because they allow infinite usage of other Gem Store items.
  2. F2P that is designed for the whales is bad because it results in the free players leaving due to the whales being far, far superior in in-game power and thus screw up PvP combat. This clearly does not apply to GW2 because there is no power sold in the Gem Store.

I have played a game (Perfect World International) that is exactly what the Extra Credits video is all about. In PWI, the best gear in the game is sold in the boutique for literally hundreds of dollars in total. This gear can then be upgraded twice via in-game measures to a point where any other set of gear is not even remotely comparable in PvP.
Also, there’s a mechanic to upgrade the stats on your gear that ridiculously favors spending real money in the game: it costs hundreds of dollars to fully upgrade a single piece of gear (and there’s 11 pieces of gear you can upgrade), but trying to do it without spending money literally has odds worse than winning a lottery.
Did I mention that while you can in theory buy all of that with in-game effort (because you can buy the cash currency with in-game gold), it would take years of farming?
And all forms of PvP combat in PWI are dominated by these players: they number in the hundreds per server.
As for what the 5-10$ would get you in PWI? Well, it might get you a mount, if you invest that money while the mounts are on a sale and there’s a simultaneous bonus sale on the cash currency. Mind that the prettiest, fastest mounts (both land and air) are behind a wall similar to the Black Lion Chest, except with much worse odds.

Adrenaline change gives thieves advantage

in Profession Balance

Posted by: Olba.5376

Olba.5376

I’m a skullcrack warrior and I can hold my own against most thieves. But with the new adrenaline loss on out of combat, the thieves can take advantage of this and reset the fight by going out of combat and make me lose all my adrenaline. Skullcrack builds rely heavily on burst skills to win fights. And thieves are master of escaping and resetting fights so they can easily drain my adrenaline. How can I counter it? Beserker stance no longer grants full adrenaline, and if I take up Healing surge and rebuilt my adrenaline, he could just reset the fight again.

If the Thief goes far enough to get out of combat mode, that means both of you are back to full HP.

Losing adrenaline quickly while out of combat is a change that will make it harder for Warriors to open with a quick burst combo to beat the everloving kitten out of their enemies. You know, like Bull’s Charge>Skull Crack>100 Blades. Or the hammer combo.

A burst skill should be something that you set up carefully and get big wins if it succeeds, not something you repeat until it succeeds. Tons of people seem to want burst combos to be openers that kill your enemy if they cannot prevent it, but a burst combo should be something that gets used later on in combat to finish off your enemy.

And btw, the OP has “1v1 in WvW” written all over it.

(edited by Olba.5376)

Arenanet, are your skill testing biased?

in Profession Balance

Posted by: Olba.5376

Olba.5376

The thing is, using players as testers is a messy effort. There’s a whole scale of different player skill levels and not all of them have the same problems.

For example, there are some things which are broken in top tier competitive play. Well, ANet obviously cannot use their internal testers to balance for that, since they’re not on that level of play. On the other hand, using actual teams presents at least two issues:

  1. If they choose specific teams, then ANet is basically putting up a big “you’re not good enough” sign on the door. And that’s not going to go over well for the ones that don’t make it.
  2. If they choose to use individual team members instead (so no whole teams), this would mean all of those teams would have to put their practice rounds on hold. This would present some serious issues with getting ready for big tournaments for the teams.

Even discounting that, there are things which are not broken on top tier play, but are considered issues in the lower tiers of skill. Are you supposed to just ignore those? And how would you prioritize between the two? Clearly the playerbase that is average or below in terms of skill is far, far larger than the top tier, but the top tier is far, far more passionate about the game.

Heck, just take a look at the Profession Balance forum and you’ll see that the vocal portion of the playerbase is pretty kittened up in terms of balance ideas. A huge majority of the suggestions deal with nerfing or buffing a profession without any regard as to why those changed would be good. What scenario would they alter? Heck, most of the suggestions are based on 1v1 encounters at points in PvP or while roaming in WvW, which definitely do not represent a large portion of the PvP combat in the game.

So if we could salvage Ectos from exotics and rares of any level, shouldn’t we also be able to salvage T6 mats from all equipment, regardless of quality and level requirement?

Arguing that Ectos should be salvageable from all rares because they have a high market value isn’t a very clear cut argument. Surely low level armors wouldn’t be so “devalued” if they could salvage into T6 mats.

To me, the hyperbole that this leads to is all monsters being able to drop all items, regardless of level of character, monster or gear.

To everyone holding out or hoping for hard-mode: Stop. They said they weren’t, and they aren’t. They said it last year, and they said it this year.

If you mention anything like “harder content”, you get assaulted by players who equate it with WoW. Guild Wars 1 had harder content that did not introduce a gear grind. Liadri was also an example of it – although it was solo content, not group. But hey, keep those straw-man arguments a-coming! It is simply disgraceful that this MMO has (almost) nothing to offer players in PvE who have learned how to play the game and still seek challenge.

The most valid argument against harder content isn’t in WoW. It isn’t even in the current dungeon mechanics being a bit meh. It’s in how many players would play it. Majority of people would not. Of the ones that would, you’d have again a majority that would be unable to complete it, since it’s supposed to be hard. Of those people, you’d have a subset that would absolutely fill the forum with complaints about how hard it is.

The people that would be able to complete it? A subset of them would be asking for exponentially better rewards in comparison to everything else, since it’s harder content. Another subset would be asking for exclusive rewards, such as special skins or minis that you can only get by doing that content. Only a small subset of the people who can actually complete it would be happy regardless of the reward.

You don’t need much to realize that the above sounds an awful lot like only a small, downright tiny minority is asking for the content for the sake of the content, with most people using the content as excuse to get better rewards.

As for Liadri: There were quite a lot of people who complained that Liadri was too difficult. There were also people complaining about how beating Liadri was tied to a minipet. There were people who complained that while Liadri had good difficulty, she did not offer sufficient reward to warrant doing after you got the achievements.

All we really want is actual EndGame content.

What is the point of getting the fully ascended gear?
For Pve Players, besides looking beautiful and the feeling that you did it, it serves no purpose.

The same is true for new gear that comes in expansions of some MMOs. They bring in new dungeons for that gear, but none of the content before it required or even warranted its existence. The same is true for Ascended gear: You don’t need it for anything except the highest levels of Fractals.

In WoW for example you had to get the best gear because if you didn’t, then you couldn’t do the end game raids…
Im not saying WoW is better, It just gives you this sense of progression while right now Gw2 simply don’t.

And let me tell you something: Dungeons which require that you meet a specific quality of gear are bad. That kind of system only works if you have other means of getting that gear. And that, in turn, either requires a chain of dungeons with progressing requirements or being able to get the gear elsewhere in a similar timeframe.

Guild Wars 2 simply is not built for a system like that. Building a system like that isn’t hard, but it’s very prone to extreme power creep. Making sure that there is no power creep while maintaining the requirement of the “better” gear means you either introduce new attributes (Agony Resistance) or you raise the level cap. Clearly, the former doesn’t work unless it’s spread across a wide array of things. The latter? Well that makes all of your “endgame” gear obsolete on a periodic schedule. And that’s a mighty easy way to kitten off your playerbase, unless they’re paying a subscription.

Traits for spending adrenaline?

If Berserker’s Power was like that, granting might, it would be an incredibly massive nerf to Warrior’s in PvE. Would be better to have it or a trait that gives a 5-7% damage boost for each bar of adrenaline spent for 15 seconds

I think that >5% is too much. And 15s is too much as well, considering that the cooldown of a burst skill is 7-10s. A 15s buff like this would result in:

  • 10s of +15-21% damage
  • 5s of +30-42% damage
  • Average: +20-28% damage

And that’s assuming you don’t have a single point into Discipline. Make it 5% per bar and 8-10s and that’d be realistic.

I had three reasons why I said Might instead of straight up +damage%:

  1. Might works with Phalanx. This would open up the very realistic possibility of a 6/x/x/6/x build.
  2. Might gives condition damage, making the trait useful for condi specs.
  3. Might is a boon that can be stripped, stolen or corrupted, thus giving counterplay.

You know, I refrained from suggesting replacing Heightened Focus with Fury because that is what I would consider a “massive nerf”. And I don’t even use Heightened Focus.

Back in the day, it was suggested that Berserker’s Power and Heightened Focus should grant damage%/crit% for a duration after using adrenaline instead of the current mechanic.

Personally, I’d be totally cool with Berserker’s Power being something like: “Grants 2 stacks of Might for 10 seconds for every bar of adrenaline spent.” Though this might be a bit much with Phalanx Strength?

Heck, you could use the same logic and change Adrenal Health to something like: “Heal 400 health for every bar of adrenaline spent.”

Which takes me to my main point… gold inflation is OUT OF CONTROL IN GW2.

May or so of 2013. 100 gems cost around TWO GOLD. TWO. Right now 100 gems is about SIXTEEN GOLD. Way Too Much.

While it is on a steady climb, I wouldn’t call that out of control. It’s fairly obvious that Gems would slowly rise in prices as more and more people get around to farming and desiring certain items in the Gem Store.

Which takes me back to Ascended items and Legendaries. Making these items Unavailable to sell in the Black Lion was a HUGE error.

The most vocal opinion on the forums is that being able to sell legendaries on the TP was a very, very bad move by ANet.

  1. What should have been done is that a 20 to 30 % transaction fee should have been assessed to ALL Legendary and Ascended sales. In addition, this fee should have been applied to all sales of ascended materials. MASSIVE GOLD SINK.
  2. Movement speed needs to be made into a separate statistic and then set up so players go to a vendor and BUY speed.
  3. Commander for WvW. Several changes here can absorb gold and provide benefit to the WvW community and to those of us who have paid 100 gold to wear the tag.
    1. Commanders need to be given several small special abilities. I suggest that they be keyed to having the commander tag active, or to the commander having at least 10 players in his “group”. Also, I recommend that at the very least players be given the ability to change the color of the commander tag.
    2. Commanders need a “Drop waypoint” ability. That is, every 10-15 mins a commander w/ an active tag or large enough group can create a TEMPORARY waypoint. One that lasts 2-5 mins or so. Big help for WvWs, especially in the Mists.
    3. Commanders need to have a small combat boost ability. Say 1-5% for players IN THEIR GROUP. So those players do 1-5% MORE damage on ALL attacks.
    4. Commander price needs to go up to 200 gold.
  1. Why? The vocal portion of the forums is of the opinion that Legendaries should not be on the TP at all. Some people use precursors to make profit by turning them into Legendaries and selling those instead. What your fee would do is make that an unfeasible thing, so you’d see most legendaries disappear from the TP. Also, it would actually harm those people who legitimately regret making a legendary. I see no positives to your idea over just making Legendaries not sellable.
  2. Not going to happen. Movement speed and access to it is part of balance in combat. What you’re asking is for the team to basically sell power for.. in-game currency. That’s only one level above selling it on the Gem Store in the “kittentiest things you could possibly do” ranking.
  3. Commanders are paying for the ability to make Squads and visibility on the map. Nothing more, nothing less.
    1. They are putting in additional colours in the Feature Pack next month.
    2. OBJECTION! What you’re suggesting would give commanders a massive advantage in WvW combat, literally making a tag a necessity for anyone who wants to lead an optimized group in WvW. Also, WvW is balanced around the handful of waypoints it has now. Your idea would basically result in zergs being even more unstoppable than they are now, since they could just have multiple people coordinate setting up waypoints to get practically permanent waypoints whenever they please.
    3. HOLD IT! This would, again, make commander tags a necessity, even for smaller groups.
    4. It’s actually going up to 300 gold, while becoming account bound in the Feature Pack.

I hope to see all of these ideas implemented. I am SICK and TIRED of logging on and checking the Black Lion and seeing that I have to pay FIFTEEN or more gold for 100 gems. It’s ridiculous. It’s insane. And it’s one thing that makes this game UNfun for the casual player.

Admitting that you made a mistake on Ascended sales, implementing my suggested speed and commander changes will help ALL players have a little more fun and give ALL of them more buying power.

The choice is yours. Will you devs Rise to the Challenge?

Holy cakemix, you sure got an arrogant, know-it-all tone there, pal. I was able to find at least something objectionable in all of your points, so clearly you’re not nearly as flawless as you seem to think yourself to be.

Also, I don’t think that you understand the point of a gold sink. A good gold sink is effective and unobtrusive. Your suggested gold sinks are literally locking powerful functionality behind a gold sink. While your gold sinks would have tremendous effectiveness, that effectiveness would come at a cost of basically extorting the WvW population for it.

Cleansing Ire

CI should be something else in the first place.. they didnt and now they are nerfing everything around it..

CI should be:
Removes a condition for every bar of adrenaline gain.

This way you can remove 3 conditions just like now, but when you AINT using your burst (or ofc miss your burst) you also dont use your adrenline.. that way you CANT cleanse conditions..

This is how your forcing warriors to USE there burst skills.

And than SOR and Fury signet got allot more use in this game.
And they can reduce Berserker stance to 6 sec because that skill removes 3 conditions also in those 6 sec.. (if your used your burst before ofc)
Ofc they should do something about healing surge..

The issue with this is that it’s not controllable. For example, let’s say someone puts Poison, Burning and a good 15 stacks of bleeding on me at the same time. If this person has 2000 condition damage, I’ll be taking 3,242 damage every second. This gives me a good 6-7 seconds to cleanse them or I die. Unless my enemy sits very, very still for 7 seconds and lets me whack them with an axe all the while, I am not going to make it. And what if Cleansing Ire happens to remove something else instead, like Cripple, Chill, Weakness or Vulnerability?

By the way:

  1. No one will ever use the passive of Signet of Rage as long as its active isn’t heavily nerfed and the passive heavily boosted. I’m taking reducing all of the boons to 20s and making it regen 1-2 adrenaline/s.
  2. If you think that they would allow you to remove conditions by gaining adrenaline and allowing that to work with heavy adrenaline generating skills like Signet of Fury or Berserker Stance, you’re dreaming.

  1. shrug it off
  2. shake it off
  3. Trooper runes (which turns FGJ/fearme/OMM into condi removal)
  4. Melandru runes
  1. Removes 1 condition on a 30s cooldown. Also it’s very easy to force Shrug it Off to trigger since it will automatically trigger if you have 2 conditions.
  2. 25s cooldown for 1 condition doesn’t help.
  3. Trooper Runes are only useful if you’re running a full shout build. And this means you have no Stability and no Berserker Stance. And running Trooper runes means you don’t get Melandru or Hoelbrak.
  4. What do you think most people are already doing? Also it’s not a condi removal, just a flat damage reduction.

There’s lots of condi clear. There isnt much condi clear that lets you build full cc spec but the options are there.

More like there isn’t much condi clear that isn’t ridiculously easy to shut down by applying more than 1 condition.

And what if the results would look like this?:

A. SAB World 3 —> 32%
B. An Aetherblade Retreat style dungeon --> 40%
C. A Not So Secret-like jumping puzzle in the new zone —>28%

Quite even results. Furthermore, the survey (when holding on to the policy) would more look like this:

A. SAB World 3
B. ?? can’t talk about future projects
C. ?? can’t talk about future projects

There’s so many things that could go wrong with a poll that it’s not even funny.

Anyone remember the aftermath of Kiel vs Evon? We literally had people on the forum calling everyone who did not vote for Evon brainless idiots. And it lasted for a while, too. Not to mention that when it was actually implemented, the backlash was revived. And that’s just a single Fractal, not an entire design direction.

And if the internet has taught us anything, it’s that if there is a poll somewhere, it’s easy to manipulate it to have pretty much any result you desire. If you don’t believe me, just look at what 4chan has done to some polls that they decided to troll. And it’s not like people couldn’t find scripts that would automatically spam votes for their cause. So a poll could easily be trolled into meaninglessness. Or it could be nothing but a representation of the obsession of one side over the others.

The thing is, summarizing is a skill. However, there are some things that simply cannot be summarized to a few short lines. There are things which should not be summarized. There are things which require a lot of words. Just because you don’t have to patience to read something doesn’t mean there is no value in it. Just because you don’t want to read something doesn’t mean there is no value in it.

15: Fierceness
Gain Swiftness and Might when you gain Fury.
(2) Might: 8 s
Swiftness: 8 s
(10 second internal cooldown.)

I don’t like this because of how ridiculous it could be with Phalanx Strength. With Phalanx Strength, this would result in For Great Justice resulting in either:

  • 3 Might (25s), Fury (8s) + 2 Might (8s), Swiftness (8s) + 1 Might (6s) = 6 Might (6s), Fury (8s), Swiftness (8s)
  • 3 Might (25s), Fury (8s) + 2 Might (8s), Swiftness (8s) + 1 Might (6s) + 1 Might (6s) = 7 Might (6s), Fury (8s), Swiftness (8s)

Also, I don’t like how well it would work with Opportunist.

25: Impair
Cripple deals damage; it deals additional damage if the target is not moving.
Damage – if not moving: 222
Damage – if moving: 148
(0.2*Condition Damage)

Now this is just ridiculous. Put this on a condi build and you’re literally forcing your enemies to either take damage from Cripple or Torment. And that’s not good, because the whole point of Torment is to make your enemy choose between taking the damage from it or losing their mobility.

Mace changes:
Pulverize:
Reduce Activation by 50% instead of 25%, lower the base damage and coefficient by 17%.

How about you just let the Mace change happen before you start talking about how it’s not enough?

Pommel Bash:
Cool-down reduced to 12 seconds. Daze and Cripple your foe with a Pommel Bash Cripple Duration: 5 seconds Increase Base Damage by 400% (It is a very very very low damage skill. Seriously even with 400% damage it still does less then most ‘3’ skills.)

No, no, no! Pommel Bash is an interrupt, not a damage skill.

Skull Crack:
Range Increased to 200 and now cleaves up to 2 targets.

Why? You want aoe stun, you go with Hammer.

Empowered: This started as 3% damage per boon, then was changed to 2% Damage Per boon, now 1%. We don’t have even have 1/3 many boons as guardians and elementalists and this isn’t a 5/15/25 Free Trait, I don’t understand why this was changed/nerfed. I honestly think if this trait stays the same it should be our new tactics “Minor Trait”.

When Bountiful Power was nerfed, it also nerfed Empowered. It should be changed back immediately. We lost so much damage due to moving our traits to grandmaster.

Empowered was nerfed because it’s ridiculously powerful for a 10 point trait if you’re in a party. Heck, most warriors can easily keep up permanent or near-permanent Might, Fury and Swiftness already. That’s 9% damage. In case you don’t notice, that’s almost as good a Berserker’s Power and we all know what happened to that one.

make it give +3 adrenaline strikes per crit.

http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Furious

because +1 adrenaline strike is so underwhelming for a Grandmaster trait that only works on crits.

It actually used to give 2 or 3 adrenaline a long time ago. They ninja nerfed it.

It used to give +2 adrenaline per crit.

The thing with Furious is that it’s Grandmaster because it works with all weapons. Sharpened Axes is Master and it only works on a single weapon.

I don’t think that Furious should be +3 adrenaline on crit. That’s more than what it used to be and it was toned down from what it used to be for a reason. At +3 adrenaline (meaning 4 per crit), you’d be making any multihit skill on Warrior (Volley, 100 blades, Whirling Axe, Mariner’s Frenzy) massive adrenaline generators. Note that both Rifle and GS already invest heavily into the Arms tree to begin with.

Currently, Furious is balanced when you compare it to Burst Mastery. Furious is superior to Burst Mastery if you have high enough crit rate, which is exactly how it should be. Making Furious much stronger would mean that it would be superior to Burst Mastery in most cases. Not to mention how ridiculous it would make any build that incorporated Sharpened Axes into it.

Sharpened Axes is way superior than Furious, +2 adrenline on axe crits PLUS -20% cd on axe skills. and its a master trait!!

what u get with furious ?!!! +1 adrenaline …… really thats it, from a grandmaster trait !.

let me do it in another way, give me a current build that uses Furious, if there is any.

The tooltip on Sharpened Axes is wrong. It was tested to provide +1 adrenaline for crits. And that’s exactly my point: if Sharpened Axes, which only applies to Axes, is a Master trait, then Furious, which applies to all weapons, has to be Grandmaster.

Yeah, burst mastery increases burst damage by 7%. Furious doesn’t come close to being comparable.

If only there wasn’t some non-damage related reason to use your burst skill, like procing Cleansing Ire. If only there weren’t burst skills that are condi damage oriented, such as Flurry, that won’t benefit from the +7% damage on Burst Master.

^^^

you are ignoring the fact that that Sharpened Axes also reduces Axe skills cd.

You act as if that CD reduction is a big deal. Well it’s not. In PvE, no one gives a kitten about CD on axe skills. In PvP, everyone agrees that Axe was majorly nerfed when they changed the damage balance on the autoattack chain. The only thing that you see people using Axe for is Zerker eviscerate builds, which won’t benefit at all from a cooldown reduction, as those builds center around using Eviscerate and regenerating adrenaline with the autoattack.

i’m really surprised of defending Furious current state, as far as i know … No Warrior uses Furious , i can go far and say.. No warrior insane enough to go 6 in Arms tree line.

changing Furious to give +3 adrenaline strikes per crit will give the motivation for warrior to actually go 6 in Arms.

Tons of people go 4 or 5 into Arms, both in PvP and PvE. The former is mostly used with Forceful Greatsword and might stacking builds in both PvP and PvE, whereas the latter is part of the meta (6/5/0/0/3) in dungeons.

Personally, I have been roaming in WvW with Sword and found that going 6 into Arms benefited me a lot, since I would be going 5 into Arms anyway on that weapon. And as I mentioned earlier, with high enough crit rate, Furious is superior to Burst Mastery in terms of generating adrenaline. After all, Burst Mastery is equivalent to a 50% boost in Adrenaline gain, which Furious can match if you have 50% crit. When you have 90%, it’s not even close to a fair contest.

Also, you’re clearly ignoring the announced skill changes in Ready Up. They’re making Arcing Slice useful, which might just result in GS builds using their adrenaline. 100 blades is a kitten good adrenaline generator, particularly with Furious. In case you can’t see it: 4 strikes of adrenaline per crit on 100 blades would give it up to 36 strikes of Adrenaline, which is more than a full bar.

The thing is, adding more traits would mean more redundant traits.

I don’t think that we necessarily need more traits. We just need less traits that are weak. The last thing you want to have is a big pile of traits, of which a minority is actually useful. The more traits you have, the more overlap there will be. Overlapping traits will result in some traits being objectively useless to certain builds.

Yes, people can play how they want. The problem is nothing else is viable, period. This is the fundamental problem GW 2 ran into the moment it launched. The “play how you want because there’s no trinity” looked great on paper. It was fresh, a change. But in the end taking away healers and tanks left us with only DPS. So the answer to “should GW2 be all about DPS?” is a resounding yes.

Please do the world a favor and stop using the word “viable” in this context. The word you’re looking for is “optimal”.

If you want to tank and heal and be even remotely effective at it, do WvW and PvP. For PvE, especially dungeons, it’s just a waste of time to not spec dps. I mix my builds up a bit because like a lot of people I find zerker mindless and boring, but the overall builds are always geared towards dps. You have to understand where these other players are coming from. A lot of people have the zerker mindset because, again, without the trinity, GW 2 IS just a dps game. They just don’t understand why anybody would spec for anything other than damage in PvE environments, where tanking and healing is pointless. It’s fun, I’ll openly admit it. Cleansing conditions and tossing out heals on my Ele is my favorite, but it’s better suited for PvP, and that’s just all there is to it.

Lack of trinity does not necessitate a DPS race. The DPS race exists because the bosses in PvE are pretty much immune to CC. Another contributing factor is dodge: a lot of big hits are easy to avoid by dodging.

Make bosses less immune to CC and give them some unavoidable attacks and presto, you’ve just created a demand for CC specs.

Heck, if you want to go further, you could totally put in bosses that will buff themselves with boons that can be removed/stolen/corrupted to create a demand for specs that can do that.

Man, you could even give bosses more resistance towards direct damage to make condi builds more appealing.

Cheers!

This kind of attitude is exactly why ANet cannot be expected to respond often. Take a look at your question and its possible answers:

  • By saying “Yes”, they’d be admitting to “attempting to destroy roleplaying”
  • By saying “No”, they’d be admitting to not thinking of roleplaying

That is called a loaded question and is a logical fallacy.

Actions have consequences. Sometimes those consequences are bad. Often, those consequences aren’t trivial to avoid or fix. It takes time.

The best you would be able to do with an unknown weapon is have some kind of clue how to use it. In most cases, the only way this would make sense in a game would be throwable items. How would you like a 600 gem item that you can throw once at your enemy?

Reasons For Mounts
-Easier exploring
-Faster Travel
-Looks Cool
-Anet can make money on Mount “Skins”
-It can be balanced properly
-Do not see how it hurts lore
-can be useful in World v World if balanced correctly

  • You say “easier exploring”, I see “Uguu why can’t I run up this 90 degree angled mountain on my horsey?”
  • You say “faster travel”, I point to Swiftness
  • You say “looks cool”, I say “subjective opinion is not a valid reason”

  • You say it can be balanced properly, I say “It shouldn’t affect profession balance in the first place”
  • You say it does not hurt the lore, I point to waypoints as a more advanced, more convenient form of travel.
  • You say it could be balanced in WvW, I say “it should not be useable in WvW in the first place.”

The thing is, the only way that I would be able to accept mounts would literally make them redundant. You see, the mounts that I see are like this:

  • Not useable in combat
  • Not useable in cities
  • No speed boosts
  • No special properties of other type

Mounts are still one of those topics that you’re better off not bringing up at all. The thing is, I’ve seen an interview with Colin that basically said that if they were to put in mounts, they would not be speedboosts, but something different. The current situation is that the standard argument pro-mount is “It’s cool. I want it. Why not?”, whereas the opposite tends to point towards lack of mounts in the lore, unnecessity due to technological advancement and the fact that speedboosts are part of cross-profession balancing.
