The thing that everyone hate isnt’ the synergy in traits and skills, it’s the thing that they can deal more or less 15-18k of damage just pressing F1, from hide, with no way to make you prevent that damage with skills (more or less) because you’re dazed.
And because they have a very large amount of ways to protect them, making them one of the dangerous classes in the game.
Ele can stack a large amount of burn and might, that grant him something like 2300 condition damage, making they’re burn kill you in something like 3 seconds.
About guardians, I play a condi guardian in spvp and yes, it’s very powerfull. If a take a enemy I can kill him in something like 8-10 seconds. But there’s so many counters to a guardian condition that if you simply block/blind/reflect/evade 3 skills you have a 15-20 seconds while the guardian is hitting you hoping to stack burn waiting for the torch skill recharge to stack burn again. Because a guardian need 3 hit to give a stack of burn, that last 3 seconds. It’s something like 1.5 sec for a stack that last 3 sec, in auto attack, but if you’re not a noob you can easly evade the scepter skill 2 and sword skill 3, the skills that help to stack burn. Out of the common ways, everyone have a lot of condi removal, expecially with that meta. Warrior have the stance and the signet to reduce to 0 all the damage (or simply swap weapon and clean my burn every 5 sec), ele have that kitten trait that impose to me to deal damage to reduce they’re health before I can stack bun and the focus air skill that block projectiles in AoR range that make me unable to use my sword skill 3 and torch burning skills, rangers have survavibility skills or pet, necro and mesmers can clean or send the burn back, and more.
Actually a guardian condition is hardly countered by a lot of meta builds. Expecially in team fight where a shout guardian can make all my work to stack burn deal 0 damage.
About the ele, it’s a different thing because the eele can stack burn easly than a guardian, with a large amount of might.
With my guardian I’ve fight a lot of condi ele and condi guardian and I’ve never lose against them. I’ve lose against direct damage guardians, that deal more damage than my own in condi build, but I’ve never had troubles against a burn-based build.
Actually the problem of burn is only on ele because the ele can stack it very easy and obtain a full stack of might, making it very dangerous, dealing 7-10k of damage /sec, a very OP thing.
But the guardian can more or less deal 1500-3000 damage of burn /sec, no more (expecially if you know a little how to fight a condi guardian)
I’ve try it only in few matches, but I like it.
We had try only 50% of the class and we’ll be more happy if ANet give us the chance to try the dps version of the revenant with Sword/X (will it be the best dps weapon?) and the “berserker” legend. But I liked what I see of the revenant.
The only thing… I expected something really OP to tuned Down, not a low damage / low sustain / low usefull class to be tuned Up.
I’m shure that ANed don’t want to make a class so OP that evryone will use only it, but ehy, we’re taling about the New Cass! I don’t want to play a “underpowered” class that I don’t know against classes that everyone know from 3 years of play and have all the best builds of the situation.
But I’m shure that at the release of HoT revenant will be very good, viable and powerfull.
I’m curious about that new mechanics of class and play. There’s a lot of good visual and strategi skills that I want to use.
ANet need only to make it really viable and Revenant will be one of my favorite classes in HoT.
P.s. We’re the first MMORPG comunity that is asking to Power Up a New Class. That make me smile :-)
Revenant feel weak, but I’m shure that it’s only because there’s not the best dps weapon aviable (sword for example), the same for the legends (we have only the bunker, the conditioner and the healer).
I’ve try a lot, then I’ve swap on my guardian and try stronghold.
At the begin I had hard time just to kill the cheftain out of the pvp matches. I barely done it. I’ve try to kill the training mesmer and I’ve dealt more damage while in Moa Form than when using the Hammer XD
But in match I’ve been able to deal 1800 every critical hit with the hammer, more with skills. Or if you add the staff and the whirling hammers you can obtain a very good damage. And the staff is our healer weapon.
We’re with a class that can be played at 50% of it’s power, with no dps weapons and legends.
I’ve played with all the weapons and with condition, dps and bunker amulets, with some try.
I felt tha it’s a good class, but hard to mastery. There will be good chances that Revenant will become one of the best class in every situations of the game.
I will wait for the next beta, hoping in a new weapon and legend aviable to play!
I’ve find different necros in that 2 weeks. Condi necros can’t work very well, actually, why it’s slow condi application, but they can corrupt the enemy boons easy, making then in trouble.
Necr os a very good class for a team to destabilize the enemy team with different boon corruptions and wells.
Necro have low defence and if you play it berserker you can’t pretend to stay alive for a long time.
But you can do Insane damage if you play with a dps build with boon corruption and 80-100% critical rate in DS.
Try a soldier build with signets that corrupt boons and give might, the trait that make you cast the signet that transfer conditions when you have 3 or more, axe/x and staff. With the signet that give all that different conditions, the one that send back conditions and spectral walk or the skill that corrupt boons.
Firts you deal damage with staff and axe, then you active the signets and then go in DS with 50% critical rate, heal in DS and condi clean in DS.
Necro is forced to use DS and that’s a big problem, but if you use it well you can do very good.
Actually the necro have the role to corrupt boon on the target when you make a focus and spam 1 in DS to kill the enemy. And spam some fear sometimes, just to make the enemy run.
If you find a good necro, you have big trouble to kill him.
If you find a bad necro you’ve no need to active the healing skill.
The trapper runes have a single prolbem: work also for the thief.
You know how ofter the thief can active a hide skill, right? think if the can also obtain stealth by using traps.
That will be a very very big problem, guy.
I’ve never seen a so fast and funny spvp than now.
Yes, sometimes I drop dead because I’ve not see that a mesmer make 3 clones and press F1, or why there’s a theif that point at my back with his big bad dagger (really bad people…)
Yes, Burn deal hig damage, the general dps is higher than before and you have to pay attention to everything that happen around you.
But, ehy, isn’t that a really funnt spvp?
Fast, active, destructive!
That’s the spvp that I want!
If you compare the effect of 2 skills you can try to compare the powerfull combo of the Guardian (Torch skill 4 + judge’s intervention + Purging flames) that bstack 10 Burning.
With a good condition build, you can deal more or less 12k in 4.5 sec. 16k if you crit and reactive Zealot’s fire.
It’s very high. Very very high.
But you have a skill that recharge in 15 sec, another in 32 and another in 28 (and not all condi guard use purging flames, someone like me still prefer Smite Condition for the meditation heal and fury).
Then, look to a warrior combo: Eviscerate + Rush + 100Blades.
Eviscerate can del more or less 8-9k of damage (more if you stack might), then rush can deal 1.5-2k and 100Blades can deal more or less 15k of damage.
It’s more or less 25k of damage in 5 seconds.
And you can reactive eviscerate in 8 sec, 100Blades recharge in 6.5 sec and rush in 32 sec.
Eviscerate can hit a enemy with soldier amulet and protection up, reducing the damage, but a enemy can clean (and sometimes send back) burn. And there’s more classes with a lot of skills (active and passive) that clean conditions than classes with protection. A lot of classes have skills to be immune to damage, but also some classes have skills and traits to be immune to conditions.
About block/blind/dodge both the direct and condition attacks need to hit the enemy, expecially for the guardian, that have only 3 skills to deal it’s big condition damage, out of that he can only stack 1 burn every 3 attacks (in auto attack in the same time a ranger with shortbow can deal more bleed damage)
And if you watch at the direct damage that a thief can deal in 4.5 sec… he can kill a bunker in 4.5 sec XD
Then, Guardian condition damage is very high, burn is very powerfull, but direct damage is still better than burn and other conditions.
I’ve make a test. With a direct damage build I can deal more damage than with a condition build, more quickly and with CC skills that help me (GS 5).
Guardian can be a very big enemy and Burn need a little reduction on it’s damage or stack ability, but if you nerf burn the Guardian can say goodbye to all it’s hope to have a condition build (the only good thing from that patch), while all the other classes can play they’re powerful condition builds like nothing was happen
You can’t pretend that a organized group of frienda that play spvp all together will be punished for that.
It’s called Team Structured Player Versus Player for a reason, don’t you think?
If you want to play only with “casuals” go in hot join.
PvP (spvp and www) is the only reason why someone can chose to enter into a guild, in this game, because the pve is so easy that you don’t need a guild to do dungeons (at last only for very high levels of fractal) and in a sPvP guild you can find players every day to make a team or more and fight in spvp.
It’s not a question of premade that farm pugs because they enter in spvp and they can find another organized team and not a casual team, they can’t chose who they will fight in the match.
Do you want to punish a team because you’re not in a team? That makes no sense!
You can pretend a separate ques, but you can’t prentend vengeance only because you play a team-related pvp without a team.
Actually the burn is powerfull. It deal a very high damage, some times too much damage.
But there’s other classes that can deal better condition damage. Ele, engi and some skilled mesmers and rangers can deal a very high condition damage, more high than what a guardian can do.
And you have to count that the Guardian can Only inflict Burn. That make him very very weak against classes with coindi removal like guardians (that clean conditions for all the team), eles and warriors. A warrior can simply swap it’s weapon to clean all your stacks of burn because it’s the only condition that you inflict (or the first that cleaning skills will celan). And a lot of classes can transfer they’re conditions on you, like mesmers and necros.
Other classes can inflict a large amount of burn, bleed and poison, plus weakness, vulnerability, cripple, making you unable to clean all the condition damage with only a single skill.
And have you ever see a ele play with burning? kitten , they inflict a bigger amount of burn stacks and they add to that 20-25 stacks of Might, making they’r condition damage so high that you really can’t fight them. I’ve a friend that play condi ele and deal 10k/sec with more or less 15-18 stacks of burning, that can apply to you in lesser than 6 seconds if you’re not good enough to dodge/block/blind/clean.
I can’t inflict 15 stack of burn in a Real fight. A condition ele can.
Why there’s not ascended Rings, Amulet and Earrings with Carrion stats?
There’s all the kind of stats you can desire but not a Carrion stat.
Why?
sPvP is made for Teams.
If you’ve not one you can’t pretend that ANet make a perfect team every time just for you.
Find friends, enter in a pvp guild, make a your personal team and fight in sPvP against “casual team players” like you actually are
Actually the bug of the symbols (the trait that apply a increased damage on the enemy on the symbol add the damage for Every symbol under the enemy) is “fixed”. ANet had set that the trait don’t work XD
Then, there’s no more a OP damage from the guardian broken build.
Actually the Guardian is in a good spot (for real this time!).
There’s different builds for different situations and playstyles.
I play condition with carrion, sword/focus and scepter/torch, trait of radiance, valor and virtue, full meditation. it’s the new condition build (one of the many) that you can do. Actually the burn damage is very high and the guardian is the best class to apply it.
In spvp I can deal 4-5k/sec of burn, more in pve. (and I can deal a good direct damage with the power in the carrion equip and the passive/active critical rate from traits and fury).
There’s always the dps direct damage build, that work very well.
And the “old but gold” supporter build with shouts (and now with the new Op elite shout that grant wuickness and fury!), good in fractal and www (and to bunker in spvp).
Actually there’s not a real “meta” for the guardian, like for all the other classes. But there’s a large amount of good builds that you can try and make.
have fun to make new builds all by yourself that fits your playstyle.
Only 50k of Burning? I’ve see a engi die of 90k of burn!!!
My principal perplession is how a class can survive to 90k of burn plus all the direct damage and other condition damage…
But ehy, he’s dead!
It happen only some times, but when I active it, it don’t recharge my Virtues.
Someone had the same problem?
That can be more or less the same build converted in the actual trait system
http://intothemists.com/calc/?build=-Bg-s;1NFk20G3BG-90;9;4PnN;0158147148;4I7X4h;1F-03F-03a0D
Froma a old discussion, The trait that actually make the hammer give Chill will inflict Slow to the enemy instead.
Can it be a clue?
There’s one thing about Virtue of Justice that isn’t changed from the pre-patch: the burn stack is still 1.
If you active Virtue of Justice, you inflict a 5-7 sec of burning to your enemy, the same for all your team menbers. Thas was good because if all your team members attack the enemy, you inflict 25 sec of burning and is the same amount of stack that you will be able to deal (or more) if you don’t active it.
But now if you active it you lose a very large amount of damage, expecially if you’re a condition guardian. We now can make it, but we can’t active our Virtue whi if we do we lose all our damage.
What if it’s powered up to 4-5 stack of burning for 5-7 seconds?
It’s a good PvE build.
In www it will never work why Spirit Weapons Hp is low and they will fall quickly in a pvp situation.
But it’s a good build.
Actually almost all Guardians that want to try conditions play in Carrion why of the actual passive critical rate.
You can also try purging flames.
Scepter skill 2 have to become a symbol. it can be a very good thing
I play Guardian with a Carrion build and I can deal 2-3k of burn damage /sec, with good direct damage (with 50% passive/active critical rate).
It’s not the best build atm, but it’s very good.
http://intothemists.com/calc/?build=-BFc3l;0NFF30I3wF-90;9;4OQn;0146138247;4hBGAI;14JF04JF01D
With that build I can stack up to 10 stack of burn and 8 stack of might, obtain 50% critical rate and high condition damage and power. I can deal high condition damage and good direct damage in a mid-bunker build with high survavibility.
Block, Protection, Self-Heal, Condi Clear, Mobility, Range, Stability, Retalation, Blind (expecially good to stomp)
Let’s try that and give some suggestions about how it work for you and how to make it better.
In PvE that build can work, but remember that spirit weapons die quickly against a boss or a lot of mobs.
I will use something like that:
http://dulfy.net/gw2traits#build=AgIC9AOoBZQ~ (Radiance-Valor-Virtues)
Lesser condition damage, but a little of self heal and fury to add to the 15% while using a scepter or a sword.
I whink that I will use sword/torch and scepter/X(torch or focus, depending on situations). If I go with focus, I chose the trait that give protection when use the focus skills.
And I will go in full Carrion. No need of extra precision if I will reach easy 64% in passive and fury. Expecially in dungeons, where other players like warriors give you banners and fury to increse the critical rate, or eles that spam fury when blast they’re fire fields.
In sPvP I will also try that build, with sword/focus and scepter/torch (or sword/torch and scepter/focus, I need to try) and in Valord I put that Virtue of Courage break stun and grant stability, instead of AoE burn.
In HoT you will be able to use the Longbow with the Elite Trait of the Dragonhunter. Finally a good long range dps weapon with some good skills and dedicated traits.
Out of that, we’ve already show you all.
The only thing that can affect the guardian movement speed is that Chill and Cripple will no longer affect our movement skills. Nothing more.
We can teleport to a enemy with sword and meditation, leap with gs and if you really want a movement speed passive bonus there’s the apposite Rune. And we can obtain a large amount of swiftness.
No more. But it’is better than nothing.
I’ve try the necro (beautifull class) and they really haven’t a single good movement skill to go to a enemy, only wurm and shadow walk to teleport back ot they’re previous position, that sometimes isn’t even good to escape from a enemy.
Guardian isn’t the best class in movement, but also isn’t the worst. Necro and engi haven’t a single good movement skill, expecially to catch a enemy.
If you look to memser, they have a utility that make them teleport, a clone-swap and a little movement back on the staff. (yes, they have hide that help, but in movement skills we’re not the last class)
Necro will not be the best condition class because there’s a lot of classes that can stack bleed and burn better.
With the scepter trait, in Reaper you will be able to stack, more or less, 10-12 stack of Burn and a lot of poison and chill on the enemy, but only if you’re in PvE against a easy enemy. And a low amount of bleed stack by critical hit bleed minor trait.
For all the other situations, Necromancer isn’t the best class to del condition damage. You can’t stack a good amount of bleed, the same about poison. Burn will be only on DS/RS state and good only with Reaper Shround. You can inflict low damage with chill but it will be a duration-stack condition, not a numerical stack, like the Fear. And when you go in DS/RS you can inflict burn but not bleed, torment only in DS and chill and poison only in RS.
A ranger can inflict a large amount of bleed, burn and poison, engi can inflict bleed, burn, poison and confusion, mesmer torment and confusion but in high amount, war can inflict bleed, burn and torment easy with a condi build. And the ele will be the next condi leader with earth and fire attunement, while can take the enemy in a perma-burn state with high burn stack and a large amount of bleed. And there’s the Guardian, that can inflict a very high amount of burn (expecially with the future HoT Dragonhunter elite trait).
Condi Necro can be viable in PvE and www with Epidemic to spam a enemy conditions on the other enemies, but no more.
We have to wait for the final traits that will be released in that big patch, because there’s rumors on changes on our traits. But there’s low things that can make the necro better in condition damage than other classes.
https://www.guildwars2.com/en/news/come-home-to-lions-arch-in-the-next-update/
In the next patch (1 or 2 weeks from now) we’ll see the traits changes confirmed and in function.
That’s our last chance to make Devs hear our voice and make a conplete list of our problems that will derive from that new traits and some good ways to change them.
Not n00b proposals, only good suggestions.
What do you think about that?
The first thing that I can think about is Lingering Course, Parasitic Contagion and Terror on the same Grand Master Trait Line. That will off course force necros to chose a specific way to use they’re conditions, but that will also decrease our condition damage be a lot, because the Necro condition power isn’t about the number of stacks of bleed (or burn and poison in the next patch) that can cast, it’s about the number of conditions that can inflict.
And Terror is the Emblem of every Necromancer. Without that trait a necro isn’t a necro. A trait that also isn’t easy to use because there’s a large amount of skills that clean Fear (condi clean, stunbreak, stability, invulnerability from conditions).
And I will take Foot in the Grave into Master Trait, not Grand Master Trait. As a GM Trait no one will chose it, but as a Master Trait you will be able to chose between a DS that last longer and a stunbreak (with 1 stack of stability) to make you able to fight longer or fight better some enemies. That will also help the necro in it’s lack of breakstun and stability, making it able to use in spvp other skills than breakstun skills.
For me the main problem is about condition traits. Expecially now that Devs has spoilered that Ele’s dodge and attunement boon traits will not be in the same tier, making them still able to fight overbuffed like they actually do!
Why we need a nerf on condition damage while we’re une of the worst classes to deal condition damage (expecially in spvp) and they will not be nerfed into traits that grant them to be with all the boons up all the time? (I speak about condition Damage like bleed, burn, poison and fear, not conditions like cripple, chill, weakness and vulnerability that can be useful but don’t deal any damage)
Someone have other suggestions?
The problem of Reaper is that everyone think about it like a necromancer can stay Always in RS state. A necromancer can be stripped out of DS/RS quickly against a good dps class and if it play with GS he have a low ability to build up LF. Then the necro need to use skills like Spectral Armor/Walk, that recharge Life Force when you hit the necro and that make him in danger why to charge DS he need to suffer a lot of the enemy attacks. GS can recharge 12% LF x enemy hit with a 6hit skill every 10 sec. It’s easy to dodge/block. Or 4% x enemy with the grasp skill, that have a long cooldown. Or he can use the staff, losong almost all it’s dps.
Reaper will not be a big problem for a warrior, that can use 2 endure pain + shield block (depending on build) and a 8-10 sec from conditions (making useless the necro’s Chill skills).
It will be a good dps class, but it’s melee and easy to avoid, with not a real movement skill, that you can outrun with swiftness.
If you find a necro in reaper you can active your endure pain and burst him down with your 100Blades (with the recent GS build), immbilize with sword and take it down with skill 3, or other way. Or simply stay in range with LB and burn him down with the firefield.
Reaper will be easy countered by the actual meta and the revealed specializzations. And we still need to see the other 6 specializzations (warrior inclused)
With that build, the first condi class you find can kill you easy why you’ve low condi cleaner (only one skill that clean a single condi every 16 sec) and 12k hp.
But just for fun it can work.
You can try to use Well of Darkness to spam AoE Blind and Chill.
If it’s a for fun build, it can work :-)
There’s only few skills that grant a good amount of Life Force. You can try to use Spectral Armor (every hit you recive is 8% LF) or Spectral Grasp (15% LF).
If you have problems to hiw the enemy with your dagger in melee and then to recharge your LF you can try to use the Axe, that every 6 sec grant you 12% LF when you attack the enemy with that skill. Isn’t the best dps weapon but with that build your dps come from wells and DS, not only from dagger. And a mediom range weapon is always good in spvp.
Warhorn skill 5 is good to recharge LF, but you need to stay melee.
Necromancer have some good way to build up life force in pve, but in spvp sometimes it’s hard, expecially against good or ranged enemies.
Axe is actually used in spvp why it’s mid-range attack and it’s skill 2 that deal high damage and grant 12% of lifeforce. But someone prefer the dagger why immobilize and auto attack, but it’s a risky weapon why it’s melee range and our lack if defensive ability and stability.
Sometimes you see it in www but in www 99% of time you use the staff.
In PvE is used only in some situations and if you go direct damage you use dagger.
That’s not a big change for us. We still can burstkill down a thief that come close to use.
There’s some thief builds that make them good against us but still we have a lot of block/blind skills that make them cry and a very high dps.
I’ve make some try. I’m not the best necro ever and when a ranger, a thief or a mesmer find me from the range I’m barely dead.
But against a engi, boon corruption is very good. I’ve try some “strategy”, but in 1vs1 is hard for me to kill one. I have to learn.
PvP is never been my best. But I want to learn and be good in it. Or at last not be the worst necro in the game XD
I’m with a power build. berserker, dagger/warhorn and staff, well of suffering, spectral armor and wurm. 6/2/0/0/6 build.
Sometimes I can burst them down, but only if is a bad engi or without shield.
Against a engi with shield, I barely can win because he can block/reflect my attacks and can use a large amount of CC to take me down, making me unable to attack.
tricks?
There’s some guides online. But is better to ask to your guild members to teach you something about they’re main class.
PvE isn’t the best situation to learn on other classes while in your’s, but you can try to play Structured PvP and see how other classes play.
In spvp you can see what’s the best offensive trait and build for a class or how a class can survive in a bad situation, how to take a position during a fight, how to make combos with your wepons and what kind of weapons/traits/runes work better together for a specific role.
For example: in spvp you learn how a guardian can dps hard and how a dps guardian can survive with a good timig with blind and block skills. Or see that necromancer have not a single defensive skill but can be a very good backline dps with Fear, DS and wells. Or how a mesmer can survive and flee from 2-3 enemies that focus him.
Ask to your friends or guild members and try some PvP situations (spectate mode can really help in that). That will grant you a good idea of how a class work and how you can fight against it.
Why Necromancer don’t hardcounter anyone? XD
Oh…yeah… we’re bad in spvp…
I’m looking at that famigerate new competitive PvE, new dungeons (and possibly a rework on old dungeons, like different levels to make it even harder for veteran players), new maps, new way to explore maps, specializzations and changes in traits and skills to make new builds, new fight situations, new spvp and www game strategy.
New armor weapon skins, mobs, storyline, events.
There’s a large amount of things that you will be able to do after the HoT release.
Like wath everyone play as a revenant in spvp with bad builds and bad players, or entire zergs of revenant in www XD
Reaper will be good in www, but not like the actual DS. The reason is simple: you will obtain nothing to be more difensive than you actually are. If you want to go in the middle of the zerg with a reaper try before to do the same with the actuale DS, because you will obtain nothing new to defend yourself.
The only 2 classes in www that can jump in frontline directly inside the zerg is warriors and guardians, that have heavy defensive builds with immunity to damage, CC and/or conditions or have a very high ability to block damage and heal.
If you go into a zerg like a melee firstline class… you fall down at the first attack.
Reaper will not have more mobility than the actual DS. Reaper Shround skill 2 is a Lie! It’s casting time to do 600 range is 1 second. if you have swiftness you can do the same distance. It’s almost like the banner movement skill. If someone run at your side he wil outrun you while you use that skill XD (and have 1,1/4 sec duration, only 1/4 sec more than RS skill 2)
What make you able to survive into a zerg with a reaper?
You can obtain stability and that’s a good thing. But you lost all your survavibility skills like spectral armor and spectral walk.
The only good is the trait that reduce the duration of imparring conditions on RS by 66%. Add a 25% by rune and you’re unstoppable. But still easy to kill, without defensive skills.
A wrong move and you’re dead in a second.
And DS is better in www why it’s aoe (in line) AA, that can crit for 4k from a 1200 range, that make you able to stay into a safe spot away from the bombing and the damage, hitting anyone you want in the field. But in melee you’re forced to stay close to the enemy, down into the enemy zerg, under the bombing and directly facing the enemy CC and melee dps skills, whitout a ingle way to keep your life force safe from enemy damage.
If you run out of dodged and the enemy attack you, your RS last for a second and then end. And you’re inside the zerg, without a defensive skill, without a movement skill, without a evasive skill. You can’t even use spectral walk because you’re already inside the zerg.
In low scale www a necro in RS can be good, but lesser than the actual DS, because you haven’t a single skill to close the gap between you and your enemies to hit them if they bmove or flee and you have lesser way to deal damage to a large number of enemy why you lose your ranged AoE ability.
And in large scale www if you go in frontline with a necro you die very quickly, without dealing any good damage.
Necromancer or Reaper, with the actual and future skills, will never be good to be a frontline class in www why it’s total lack of mobility, defensive and healing skills.
The reason why only few necros use it isn’t because it’s a bad skill, it’s because we haven’t defensive skills and that make us forced to use our only 2/3 breakstun and teleport skills, to survive just a little longer. 90% of necros play with well of suffering to del damage and spectral walk and flesh wurm to teleport away from a combat, to survive a little longer.
With a true defensive skill (immunity like ele’s mist or engi elixir or prolungate block like the warrior shield) we’ll be able to use also other kind of skills, but in spvp we have only 3 skills to break stun and protect us: flesh wurm (cast it away from combat and use it like a safe point to teleport away), spectral walk and spectral armor.
A necro can also obtain protection by spectral wall but only a terrormancer can use it and frequently they don’t and from a grandmaster trait on wells use. But they don’t work as a breakstun, and we haven’t a single stability skill, then we need that kitten break stun to survive.
We all hoped on GS to obtain a defensive skill but devs don’t like the idea that a necro can have a defensive skill, because we have a “second health bar” (that is the source of all our problems…)
For PvE the best dps weapon is dagger+warhorn. Axe is gargabe and the dagger auto attack damage is very high. But only its AA is a good damage skill, you have not to active any other dagger skill to deal damage. Skill 2 is good only to recharge 2.5k hp and 3 is a immobilize. Then you have only to stay in melee and press 1. And if you go in DS you lose dps because you can always crit hard, but the attack rate is really slow.
Necromancer’s damage is lower than the damage of a warrior, thief or ele. But it’s still a high damage.
About support your team or be useful in something… No. Necromancer is a selfish class that don’t want to give a single kitten to it’s allies.
And if an ally die you gain life force XD
Necromancer is a good class, withhigh dps and high survavibility but don’t give anything to it’s party, unless you build a necromancer fo a support spec that can clean conditions but is more useless thatn the classic dps build.
You can chose between 2 traits combination to dps in dungeon:
the classic 6/2/0/0/6 with all damage and DS always crit; or 6/5/0/3/0 with warchorn that last longer (good for LF gain by skill 5 and a little more damage) and criticals that steal life.
I use the 6/5/0/3/0 but you can chose what you prefer.
Necromancer is a very beautiful class, but it’s barely useless in dungeon because there’s classes like warriors, ele and thiefs that deal better damage and can give a large amount of blast finishers an/or firefields to stack might and deal more damage of all the team. With a necro you can stack vulnerability with a vulnerability-based build, but also warriors can and with 2 warriors you can put the enemy at 25 stack for all the time and then you don’t ever need a necro.
Sad True.
I’ve not noticed it. thx
I’m wandering, what kind of skill class will be Plague and Lich form?
They’re both Transformation skills but in the future patch that will change our traits ANet chose to convert the elite from Transformation into other things (only the type of skills, not effects).
For example, Rampage of the warrior will be a Physical skill amd Ranger’s rampage as one will probabily be a shout.
Then, what will be of our Elite skills?
Plague can become a Corruption skill and Lich can become a Spectral, but for corruption there not will be a trait, instead for spectrals there will be a trait like the actual one that reduce it’s cooldown by 20% and increase its duration by 50%, And with that trait our elite (lich or plague) will last for 50% more time, making it overpowered (Plague isn’t the best elite skill, but it’s good and a +50% of duration will make it a good choice to perma blind enemies in spvp or www).
And Lich Form with +50% of duration will really be OP.
What do you think?
Yes, I play only sometimes mesmers, just some tournaments a day with my friends.
But why a mesmer noob like me can kill a large amount of classes or builds but mesmer pro gamers like you can’t?
Am I the only one in the entire tspvp world that find always noob players to fight or it’s the mesmer that is a good class?
The best class ever? No, shure it’s not. But it’s a very good class. One of the best classes I’ve ever try. I don’t play it frequently only because it’s a class that if well used can kill a enemy without any problem, expecially in 1vs1 or 2vs2.
- Very high damage easy to do (a simple rotation and you spam 3 cones and blast your enemy down with the GS at range, or add shatter damage with your pg, because you can obtain the shatter effetc also on you and teleport away with Staff skills if you need or be untouchable with the sword skill 2 and then hide and flee with torch)
- Good survavibility (hide, clones, distortion/blur, teleport, moa form)
- Ranged damage, because with GS, clones and shatter you don’t need to be near the enemy to deal all your damage
- Condi swap with boons on the enemy with a simpe utility skill (and if you want to live longer you can chose the trait that every shatter clean a condition, but actually no one use it)
What can you ask more? To be totally unkillable?
You will obtain Quickness, Slow and Projectile Reflection almost always up at the release of HoT!
Actually a mesmer is a very good class. Hard to play, with high risks, but that can deal high damage and survive easy if you need, also while in berserker build.
If the mesmer isn’t already a meta class it will be soon but it’s still a very good class powerfull in damage and hard to kill.
With a Slow skill, you don’t need ever a high defensive build.
Uhm.
If the enemy is afflicted by slow you can evade easy it’s attack with dodge, and in some cases just by move away.
…you do realize dodges are limited, right? Having the reaction to dodge something doesn’t mean you’re actually able to dodge it.
(more than actually is. And actually is one of the best classes in spvp, with a good dps build).
all of my wat
I know you’re not, but please say you’re just trolling…
Actually I play mesmer only a little, but I don’t need a defensive build because I’ve already clone swaps, hide, high range weapons, blur and teleport. Why I need more defence than that if the enemy hit me 50% slower? It’s dps is reduced by 50%!
We can not have always a dodge or vigor, but we have a lot of skills that interrupt the enemy, granting us the chance to do it even better, adding slow to the enemy that we interrupt, making it really suffer of slow for all the duration of the figth, while we can have quickness up very often.
And about the thing that Mesmer is one of the powerful classes in spvp, it’s true. You can not belive that, but I can deal 15k of damage to a single enemy before he can hit me, more or less in 5 seconds. (and more damage against a light user with berserker like a necro). Then I hide or clone swap (depending on the weapon I chose to use, if staff or sword/torch), or active blur with Sword, dealing damage, or Distortion with F4 (with the right build I’ve 4 sec of distortion and always 1 if I’ve no active clones) or simply active Moa Form.
Yes, mesmer is really a bad class. Never play mesmer. It’s a total failure. We need more buffs like constant projectile reflection, easy quickness and slow all the time on the enemy to survive because actually we can’t even kill a necro!
There’s some classes that can kill a mesmer “easy” but, ehy, you can’t pretend to be unkillable! And I’ve seen mesmers kill 2 enemy at the same time. There’s a video of a mesmer killing 4 enemy in spvp. They’re 100% noobs, but ehi, they’re in 4 vs 1. I’ve lost the link but if I find it I will post it here.
Seriously, if you think that the mesmer isn’t one of the best classes in spvp you have to learn to play.
And with that specializzation I hope that also nther classes obtain something like that because if not I really will make it my main tspvp class.
With a Slow skill, you don’t need ever a high defensive build. And actually no one use a defensive build on a mesmer, in spvp…
If the enemy is afflicted by slow you can evade easy it’s attack with dodge, and in some cases just by move away.
Slow will be the best spvp condition ever made. And if devs don’t change something the mesmer will be a very powerful class (more than actually is. And actually is one of the best classes in spvp, with a good dps build).
That changes can really make the axe viable. But Retalation on minions is OP.
If a enemy deal AoE damage he will fall down only by retalation XD
