I would far prefer a game that combined the looks, casualness, levelling experience, female-friendliness and WvW of GW2, with the combat system (from MoP era), talent trees, dungeons and raids of WoW, including LFD and LFR (again, from the MoP era – NOT WoD).

I don’t want futurism at all – so, ignore Borderlands, except possibly for some humour (if it’s any good – idk?) and storywise, make it more like a combination of WoW/GW2, I guess?

Chuck in some flying, as well, if possible and we’re good to go.

“Very hardcore focused” – that was way back when, and it got bad rep for it, they changed a lot before f2p release and now at f2p release, so no it’s not that hard core focused.

The leveling is closer to WoW style, there are some aspects from gw2 (like “hearts”)…

But yeah when you said “casualness” – just stick to gw2.

:P They did say (druid spec reveal) that HoT will be more of a hazardous and dangerous environment. Pretty sure they also mentioned more conditions.

I used to play a thief (or the game in general), because it was a fun agile and (just a right amount) of challenging class. Way back when, I used to feel on par with other classes running dungeons and zerging (yes, zerging) in WvW. (Played since the 2nd last beta weekend event before the release.)

Eventually the waves of nerfs came around, I began to struggle in dungeons, when zerging happened in WvW I was usually just a road kill (see picture below) and was called out “oh look Zero Day died again” (began to feel like a dead weight, or a drag to the guild/team, they would go back and try to pick me up sometimes, sometimes dieing in the process) and was told to do the boring/unrewarding job of roaming because thieves are really good at that. Left WvW.

Did straight up sPvP, hotjoin/unranked for a while, became decent at it for a while (no longer the case.) From time to time went back to WvW zerging/pugging only to realize the day and night difference of PvP skill between the two groups (like take the time to go to town on sPvP, then go back to WvW and you WILL wreck kitten up). Waves of nerfs continued.

Frustrated, I took a break, one that’s been continuing for at least a year now, all the while watching the development of this game and the decisions that they’re making around balance and other things (like the whole revealing/hyping of HoT). Also started to flip sometime around doing sPvP, though stopped that as well as playing a spread sheet became kind of boring.

Heh same thing for me yesterday. Thought it would be amazing to finally craft a legendary, go on raids, do WvW, play and enjoy the game. Then reality snapped back in, and I realized my main is a thief.

O well, waiting on Tuesday/BWE3… There’s still lots of time to decide to get HoT or not.

You must be new here and full of hope! We’re glad to see a fresh and energetic face here with hope shining in your eyes, but I believe that it would be best for you to re-roll to a different class before wasting too much time “mastering” the class.

Constructive feedback, please check the BWE3 Daredevil thread, read the feedback and then read what the dev posted in response. That’s just a sample. There’s also been countless threads (I haven’t recorded them though :/) on improving P/P, their response as of right now (waiting till Tuesday to find out more) is 20% damage increase. Then, look at the Change Wish List in my signature, and read the threads that have been linked in there – which none of got a response (and judging by the changes, even looked at).

Then, look at all the patch notes for the thief and tally up how many buffs and nerfs we got. Read the Nerf Wish List (resurrected and the old version), there’s been a couple that actually came true.

Despite all this, there are still relatively constructive posts being made even today.

If you believe all classes are treated equally, you’re sadly wrong.

What I’m more concerned with, is what support options does a thief have besides the one and only v.share? And of course aoe stealth, which is hardly unique anymore…

Bountiful theft is 10 seconds of vigor on a 20 second cooldown, smoke screen’s a projectile block, off hand pistol has a blinding field, if there’s a need for someone to often run between objectives quickly thieves will be the best at it, evasion tanking, and we have no idea what sort of new skills we’ll have to steal off the new enemies but the steal mechanic will allow them to make balance changes that will specifically effect thieves.

You must be a new player, full of hope and excitement.

Before you waste too much time, please re-roll another profession or move onto another game. Best thief advice I can give.

If I had to bet money on it I’d say we’ve seen 4 out of about 6 of the changes for thieves (with pistols getting a little more detail as to how much each individual skill’s damage was buffed). A little hard to tell as the announcer was clearly digging into stuff that might otherwise have been saved for Tuesday and they had some painful time-management issues going on.

But overall anything we haven’t seen yet is going to be small buffs to stuff very few people use presently. Maybe enough to reconsider them in niche builds, but nothing that drives a new highly competitive “meta” build for thieves.

Nonetheless, if you don’t agree with the decisions they’re making then you might want to consider not supporting them – via not purchasing anything. There’s absolutely nothing wrong with that, it’s business after all.

On another topic, it looks like we will be getting a few of the buffs mentioned in this thread with the next balance patch. I’ll wait until Tuesday to see the official patch notes before I update the main post, but the changes for Thief announced so far are:

• Thief Pistol getting damage buffs 20%+ (Seems pretty good, no specifics yet)
• Potent Poison – Poison damage increase going from 10% to 33%. (Seems good)
• Expeditious Dodger – Getting a 100% duration buff from 2s of swiftness to 4s (Seems good)
• Vigorous Recovery – Vigor duration going from 5s to 7s. (Pretty much pointless, we already have enough sources of vigor without this trait)

While these changes seem good so far (excluding Vigorous Recovery), there aren’t nearly enough of them, and they aren’t the most important changes that are needed either (The pistol changes could potentially be one good needed change, but no specifics are known yet). Hopefully we get a lot more buffs than this when the full list of changes is posted on Tuesday.

Don’t leave out the possibility of possible nerfs as well.

Thanks for the support bois. I’ve been trying Wildstar and B&S. Wildstar feels dead, but maybe F2P will fix that. I’ve been playing on B&S Taiwan and it feels really active and balanced. China servers are P2W, while Taiwan isn’t. Hopefully the NA cash shop isn’t P2W.
