You don’t control the followers’ list. The Followers’ list is the people who have added you to their friends list… I don’t really understand WHY this is in the game actually. I couldn’t care less about knowing who decided to add me to their friends list without asking for me to do the same.
Instead of making it so I can remove people from the followers list, how about just removing it entirely?

Maybe drunk nerd rage post?
Not positive about all the facts, just been reading guild chat and was curious. I heard their character creation has a lot more options, faces and hairstyles then we do, including many we have to pay extra for and can only get in the makeover kits. Also heard their VIP service they get cool stuff including a free precursor? That’s really unfair and pretty messed up.
I slightly understand the character creation thing, asian mmo’s tend to have great character creation tools, even very dated games like perfect world have good ones so maybe they need it to compete. Just doesn’t seem right they get a lot of this for free and we have to pay for it.
and the free precursor… seriously not cool. Even if you have to pay for vip status to get it unless it costs the same in gems to gold ratio its doesn’t seem fair.
I have 5 legendaries so I don’t really care to much, so not a whine I want a precursor post, just curious as to the logic of these decisions. Wouldn’t mind getting access to some of the stuff they have that aren’t even in our game like the butterfly backpack either.
There are cultural differences for the game in Asian markets, and there are also political differences. Personally I’d rather live in western culture than Asian so there’s already an economic difference, and I’m willing to sacrifice a couple digital customization’s for that.
For me, not 2 concerned. As an American gw2 player I already have so many customize options it’s crazy. Ask yourself, ‘how many options do u really need’ ?
I played beta so I can tell you , you will not need to be concerned with elite spec points taking long to get you squared away. The grind will come in the form of masteries. You cannot unlock elite spec till 80, but once you hit 80 it really isn;’t a big deal.
Instant to 80 can customize elite first then 2 more and still be fine, people leveling old fashioned will find they have more than enough to get their spec going. It really is a non issue.
Hot incoming in less than a week, I’m pretty exited!
I’m from IoJ, so I’ve dealt with bad wvw for awhile. Unfortunately the big wvw servers are full for a reason. In the beginning when there were free transfers hardcore pvp’ers picked certain server’s and migrated to them. Now new players are kinda stuck with 2nd best.
I missed out on the wings in the gemstore earlier this year and I am wondering if and when they’ll be returning.
Wings have been on sale a couple times this year. Anet likes to promote really cool items like that on a rare basis so the whole market isn’t flooded and characters remain distinct. Sorry but you may have to w8 for awhile b4 black and white wings come back
Time gating is nothing new. It’s been in every single game I’ve ever played. It’s in place to always give you something to journey towards. If everything was given to you all at once how long would you play; be honest now.
Well, I ended up at rank 80 in SPvP.
Played Super Smash Bros. for hours even when I had everything unlocked, all of which I never used.
Ran through Devil May Cry 4 multiple times with everything unlocked.
Played Dark Souls PvP repeatedly when I had no need for humanity
Played Starcraft 2 for 10s of hours despite having every unit and map available from the start and no friends to play it with.
Back when it was active, played on a local vault NWN RP server as pretty much my only game played for years.I’d say… quite a while unless the gameplay is awful.
You mention you played those games for hrs, 10’s of hrs, repeatedly , and multiple times. All terms for relatively short gameplay return once you had everything.

Important to know is if we can just have elite spec and 2 core specs trained or if we need all 5 core specs to unlock the elite
This is a good point, I was thinking of just spending points on the traits and abilities I intend to use, I can work on the rest later. I’m hoping that I can choose to spend points on an Elite spec and put one or two of the core specs off until a later date.
Playing beta you had instant access to elite specs. they have said the requirement for elite spec is to be lv 80. No mention of additional restrictions like “you must have all other traits lines fully unlocked first”. Should be able to instant 80 and put points into elite right away.

You can read the Sticky above, if you so desire, regarding Forum Search.
You can also use the method to search why said method is in place.
Good luck.
I read the sticky. Found their solution rather hilarious “use google” , our search bar is just an april fools joke.
Of all the things not working I would thing getting a functional search up and running would be at the top of the list for a huge forum. Maybe I’m just spoiled in 2015.
One of my first experiences with Silverwastes, I saw another player who was holding some rubble, throw the rubble brick at a Husk, which in turn knocked the Husk flat on its kitten.
I just about fell out of my chair from laughing.
I didn’t even know you could do that! Probably better than my puny bow.
He was talking about the consumable rock item [&AgEtIgAA]. Yay I know something an anet employee doesn’t!
I’ll continue to do them until I unlock all the token skins I want, and after I’m sure I’ll still hit them from time to time just for the heck of it.
So many people complaining about a product that hasn’t even been released yet as if the world was ending. Omg I have to w8 a few weeks b4 I can do a raid. My life is over. Conspiracy theories abound! Why don’t you guys actually play the expansion b4 you start to totally rip it apart.
To OP. Would you continue to play a game that no longer offered things to strive for?
Revenant Shiro on demand superspeed ftw. Great for that world traveler who wants to just run through enemies on the way to an objective without being slowed by combat aggro.
Hello, I’m attempting to purchase gems through the in-game system, however, I receive a “Unfortunately an Error has occurred. Please try again later.” message each time. This has been occurring to me all day today [15/10/2015].
Has anyone else experienced this, and found a solution? I’ve tried waiting some time in game, and even logging out and not running the game for 20 minutes thinking that might help. Neither have fixed the issue.
Yep i’ve experienced that. customer service couldn’t figure out what was going on. Turned out the system doesn’t like virtual keyboard inputs. If you’re using one try typing your info regularly, that should work.
I was prepping to setup my weekly Black Lion Key Farm character today for the weekly reset on Saturday when I realized that I didn’t need to!
With HOT Launching on 10/23 that means my Revenant will be made on 10/23 and I can do the level 10 story right away for a Key before reset on 10/24.
This way in case the Personal Story contributes towards Mastery XP and you wan to go full in with that right away you can do that without having to wait a day to not waste that first Black Lion key on Chapter 1.
I’ll be too exited to play the new content, to waste even 30 min. doing a key farm (lol can’t call it farm anymore). For me it’ll be the quick rev. leveling experience +20 experience scroll + 60 tomes.

Yeah I agree that Glint kinda throws the whole class’ balance off the window. She just has too much. It’s also the legend with by far the easiest energy management.
Sounds like the argument is glint is too well made so it needs nerfs to fall in line better with its mediocre cousins. Communists tried that already; doesn’t work :P
Your tune has changed in a single day.
i’m not even going to go necromancer. sorry but this class is way too weak and boring, i feel bad for you necro mains
Omg that is hilarious. I guess King Noob got his name right.
The only build I’ve played as necro that seemed off-kilter not having access to back 5, is running shroud spec. where the majority of time is based there. Otherwise I do agree that it’d be nice to at least see cool downs. There have been many times where I leave shroud only to realize then, that it’s another 5 sec before I can use a well or w/e.
in pve that mobs are trash and stupid it’s fun, but the game also has pvp, and GS isn’t that good. casting speed in auto attack and gravedigger is too much. 2s to cast gravedigger? 3sec to do chill from auto attack? hahahaha
As if anyone could forget there’s pvp. Try running GS in a bunker build. Huge potential there.
I’d also support an option to salvage rares without confirm box. Unless there was a separate option to remove confirm from exotics I’d say leave that in place. Rares you get fairly frequently and never have a chance of losing huge amounts of money if you make a mistake. It’s simply annoying to hit confirm box every time salvaging rares.
Speaking without profanity is preferable to me than saying kitten. Kinda defeats the point. I lol when someone posts something with kitten every other word. No need to have it a report word. Just makes the person look silly which is it’s own punishment.
Think OP may not be considering the crazy amount of work it takes to balance skills in a game like this. Sure we could have all new skills on a fairly frequent basis but that would mean everything else comes down to a grinding halt. I’d suggest if you’re truly bored with all the skills across all the professions in the game… go do something else for awhile and come back feeling refreshed.
I just had a moderately annoying experience. After finishing a dungeon run with a PUG with relative ease, I asked if they wanted to do the next easy path in the dungeon, to which they replied “Kitten you” and immediately kicked me from the party. My guildie, who was running the dungeon with me, laughed when I said I had reported them for verbal abuse. I realize that they were probably joking but it’s so hard to tell via text alone.
Was I being melodramatic? Why do we put up with people like this? To tie this back to the title, I understand that almost a month ago, guild wars 2 went f2p or “free to try” or whatever. Could this be adversly affecting the amazing community (overall) that we have here?
How do you report someone for verbal abuse when they say “kitten”? Kinda the point kitten not considered verbal abuse. Sounds like that would have been a good time to unplug for awhile or just realize troll is troll whether ftp or not.
For me, exiting to the zone below airship wasn’t a make or break deal. Can always just pull up map. Of course it would be nice if you were transported back to where u came from. Needing to transport the pass around bags of multiple characters isn’t the greatest, but for me that’s tied with a larger issue – lack of possibility to keybind items.
Only reason I bought the golden pass was basically just to have access to the crafting stations a little closer to wp than anywhere else for daily crafting. total convenience item. Wasn’t really thinking bout gem conversion etc. Plus I guess being able to access an area that not all could played into decision as well.
Just for posterity sake: Last year, when they changed how the PS worked with the NPE, people were claiming that the prices of Black lion skins would sky rocket due to the “nerf” of key farming. (https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/gw2/RIP-keyfarming-merged/first)
From what I can tell, the price of the skins has remained pretty steady, the only major changes are when the item is no longer available.
So I don’t believe that this change will have too much of an effect on prices.
Plus with an increased drop rate in open world, it might actually help drive prices down, as essentially, you are introducing more keys, thus more skins, to the general population, rather then the small handful of key farmers. The problem is that some of us have god awful RNG and are lucky to see an exotic a month and rare a week. Getting a key would be a miracle. Key farming was one of the few ways we could keep up with the economy and it wasn’t even that great for it.
Been farming trash mobs to see key drops seeing as people on reddit said they got em that way. 4-5 hours later all I’ve gotten is a headache + 8 BLC.
@ the idea that this wont change the prices. There was still a way to get them in game which is why the prices didn’t render any difference. Now that the keys are actually a rarity now it WILL change things. There aren’t too many people who find it worth it to throw away 150 gems per repair canister. That’s just how it is.
It’s all about supply and demand. And the demand for weapon skins will remain the same while the supply will dwindle because there is no way to EARN the keys at a decent rate anymore.
The change has to be with the boxes if they insist on keeping it this way.
After update hit I spent 8 hrs. testing “the new improved key drop rates” . After killing thousands of mobs of all sorts and levels I ended up with 0 keys and only 4 blc. Today I spent 4 hours just mindlessly killing mobs and got 1 key and 4blc ( hmm well the black lion chests seems to drop more frequently at least-I wonder what that’s about /wink ). 12 hours work for one key! You have better odds in las vegas.
One key a week. 50% chance of ticket scrap per key. 30 ticket scraps needed for one scientific skin. In over a yr you’ll be a proud owner of one new skin(unless it disappears in that time which probably will). Does the weekly reset date really matter?
Silverwaste was supposed to be a map to do the events and fight multiple bosses, NOT a chest farming map. If GW2 wants to keep chest farming in, make it for a limited time, so that those of us that like doing the events can. It is unfair that those of us who like doing the events have to wait until the chest farming group deems it the right time to do so. I also refuse to jump from map to map to map just to find some people to do events with. Keep the chest farming in, just limit it.
O.k so here’s how a taxi works using the LFG . Pull up world event section, then look for anyone advertising, example( SW 40%.) That means it’s a SW event map at 40% completion till breach. Join the group then right click on the first player and select join in SW. That’s called being taxied, and waalaa you are in a map where everyone has a clear understanding of why they’re there.
A few farmers will get less keys per week and the whole player base gets more from random drops, i dont see how this will impact bl skin prices in a bad way.
So, do you think that the majority of the BL weapon skins are from people buying keys and not key farming? If most skins are from key farmers then this is a serious hit to supply. It takes on average 30 keys to get one skin. Since I sincerely doubt they will be dropping at a rate of 30 keys per player per year, then they aren’t going to be replacing even one competed set of key farming per year. The average key farmers who does his weekly key farm is going to get maybe two tickets a year. The only way that supply isn’t going to be hit is if the main source of skins is from people buying keys, not farming.
Yes, in my opinion, only a small minority of opened chests was from farmed keys.
Then I wonder, if only a small minority of opened chests are from farmed keys, then why did ANet go out of their way to nerf farming keys? Normally companies don’t invest time and money changing issues of small importance to their pocketbook, especially a situation where they had already said that they were fine with people farming keys. To reverse a long standing policy of this nature suggests that there were a substantial number of farmed keys. Enough to impact them financially.
I dont think they did this change for financial reasons, otherwise they wouldnt have buffed the droprate from random mobs. I guess they dont want people to create a character, do the same story mission over and over again and then rinse and repeat but rather have them play in the open world with other players.
And reversing a longstanding policy where they said it’s fine. If the number of keys being farmed like this is small, as you suggest, then the number of people who were doing this is smaller, which means they reversed a long standing policy and spent the time to code this in in order to affect a small number of people. If the number of people who were tied up with this is so small, and it’s not affecting much, why should ANet care enough about it to nerf it?
Because they dont want new players to see this repetitive gameplay as the best way to earn wealth. They want them to experience the full story line and open world pve or other parts of the game.
Do you think a new player is going to notice that guy flying by him, just like any other dude/dudette, and say to him/her self, “WOW that guy is moving fast. They must be a key farmer. that’s all I wanna do now” :P.
Anet said on multiple occasions that key farming was kosher. Not everyone did it. And even fewer still spent the majority of their time doing it. New players fragile sensibilities( jk ) had nothing to do with this. It’s not like the entry lv. trains that used to happen. That was crazy broken. No, this is something else entirely.
One time events still require large resources from the company to implement and by their very nature will not see as many people able to experience them. The special feeling of experiencing a limited time event is exiting, but these type of events need to stay rare.
Op how bout setting your mind to being in the first group to beat the first Hot raid. That should make you feel hardcore.
p.s “The 1% are people too”- ah yes the poor 1%. good one.
What is there not to understand? You may not agree with it, but it’s easy to understand.
Players think the process to obtain Black Lion Skins is too expensive, and they don’t feel that other things you get from black lion chest make up for it.
Players who farmed keys because they were too expensive to buy, cannot do math. It’s about the worst time investment you can make.
I was told you were able to get about 3 keys per hour. One key costs 90 gems if you buy 5. This is 90*1.25cent = $1.125. Per hour $3.375.You are farming for the equivalent of $3,35 hourly wage. I don’t know how you get paid in your country, but here in Germany a cleaner for your household gets about 10 Euro per hour (assume $1=1Euro).
If you go farming keys for 12 hours, you get 3*12=36 keys.
But if you go working as cleaner for only 4 hours, you get $40, which also gets you about 36 keys. For the remaining 8 hours, you can go playing Guild Wars 2 and do whatever you like – you don’t have to waste your time and create and delete characters the whole day.If you now tell me you would never pay $40 for black lion keys with money you earned the hard way in 4 hours as cleaner, why would you tell me you waste 12 hours of your life time by clicking through a computer program to get the same amount of keys? 4 hours as cleaner more wasted than 12 hours as nothing? This alone should tell you that you should never started farming in the first place.
Many people in the u.s make just over 7 dollars an hour. It all depends on how you value your time off and what you make make while working. Single people who make less and have less responsibilities may think it’s a better investment to spend some of their free time farming as opposed to buying everything with cash. Doctor’s who make over 100k a year and have many responsibilities may find their limited personal time more valuable so they’re willing to fork out the cash. It’s economic, not poor math.
Op have you never bought something from the super market on wed. only to have it be cheaper the following day? The thing with sales is they happen when they happen.
I got up to part 2 of LS2 and then left game for awhile. So when I went to make mawdrey I realized I’d have to pay for content that I could have done for free if I’d stuck around. I made a decision to be gone. That was my choice.
I can’t believe I’ve never thought of something like that in game, and I’m left handed as well. I’d rather see resources going towards something like build templates instead, but still props on a cool idea.
I spent eight hours tonight farming all sorts of mobs and got 4 bl chests and 0 keys on thousands of kills, so currently not hopeful the “increase drop rates” are all that much.
I believe they’re running a test with this update to see if the extinction of the key farm will lead to a large increase in key sales at the vastly high prices they’re currently set at.
I’m enjoying reading all these comments, and find it interesting, now that the farm really is dead, people don’t seem to be as willing to see total garbage in the chests
Please keep the ideas flowing. Might I also suggest a little civil disobedience and do not buy keys though gold to gem exchange or money until these valid complaints are addressed.
(edited by leftyboy.9358)
from 0.0000000000000001 to 0.0000000000000002 yeah don’t hope to get any keys any time soon.
ya I wouldn’t get your hopes up that key drop rates will be anything more than token increases. I spent all night killing all manner of creatures and didn’t get one key. I got 4 bl chests though:P. So so far the score is old key farm=1 every 20 to 25 min, vs. new increased odds= 0 over 8 hours.
I think anet just really wants us buying overpriced keys now. Get ready for skin costs to be on par with precursor costs.
Just have to lol. Post went from talking about fixes to shield, to a personal conversation between two people about fashion. Didn’t know this was reddit.
While it’s true rev doesn’t have the Plethora of utilities that other professions can pick one at a time, the reality is that in the end you have access to more utilities in combat than most others. Rev can have full set of support and damage utilities, for example, without going ooc. Now with the addition of herald u have the possibility of 9 (if you include secondary effects) utilities. For those who get bored easily what more could you want?
Does everything in the legends fit perfectly in all situations? Of course not, but what profession could you say that of.? D/D ele’s usually pick similar utilities for pvp, because there’s just some that make more sense than others. I usually try to pick something that ties in with traits and theme I’m looking for as a necro. I’ve very rarely use Corruption or Signet utils, because they don’t fit the couple specs I like to use the most. Between all the legends to choose from, there’s gotta be a few that strike your fancy even if you don’t in every situation use all of them.
To the OP I’ll just say, maybe it will be weird being completely locked in. I guess time will tell. Given we have access to 15 (18 if you count herald double benefit) utilities currently though, I don’t see your complaint as keeping the dev’s up at night.
Seems like an awesome change to me. Key farming was never intended, keys are supposed to be a major contribution to their gem store sales, but were being significantly undermined by key farming.
Hopefully with the restrictions in place they can increase the drop rates in the chests now so people will buy keys again.
If key’s were supposed to be a major gem store sink, then they should have made them worth it. The reason so many people key farmed is that spending 20+ gold per key buying from the store just wasn’t worth it for what you normally see in return. Spending 20-25 min on a farm had more value as it at least could be seen as an investment.
I’ll be Interested to see what the “increased chances of dropped keys in the world” actually means. As of yesterday, the chances were absolutely abysmal. Hence the key farm.
While I agree that pet rock to conclude the sale is pretty April foolsie; the sale itself I found to be pretty good. There were items I missed from previous sales, like black wings, and silver fed salvage-which only appears few times a year. I’m also big into outfits so once again this worked for me. I also know some people who make huge money off Taimi’s Dye. It pays to plan ahead I guess.
I wish deluxe upgrade had gone on sale. I’d like the banker golem for key farming, but I don’t blame Anet for not hitting everything on my wish list.
New weapons/abilities glued to specialization
in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns
Posted by: leftyboy.9358
So what you want is basically the ability to use the Elite Specializations with no downside?
no. my question is why are the weapons and abilities 6-10 glued to the elite. Dagger functions on its own, regardless of whether you decide to choose blood or not. You are not locked out of using dagger if you DON’T spec into blood for example.
New weapons/abilities glued to specialization

This is a curiosity.
I’m basing this post on information found on wiki about reaper minor adept Shroud Knight -You can equip greatswords and use reaper shouts.
Tonight I’ve been goofing around with trying to create some possible builds for HoT as a necromancer and it got me thinking….why is it that new weapons and abilities(6-10) are bonded to a specific specialization when we’ve never seen that before with any other Specialization . Obviously Wells are made more powerful through Vampiric Rituals, but you don’t need blood to use wells.
I would like to try for example shout rise as part of a MM spec, but oh w8, if I want that one single shout now I NEED to pick reaper. And if i choose reaper I say goodbye to spite or blood; the latter two being just truely awesome for many diffent kinds of combat.
So I keep coming back to a potentially awesome ability that I won’t be able to use bc I need to take an entire line that doesn’t fit as well with my play style just to do so.
I’m not sure if there truly are major balance issues if the new weapons and abilities were unlocked from their governing specializations, or if it’s just a marketing thing to get people to buy HoT.
This post brought me back to some of my first mmo experiences.
I was in awe of the vast world I was in. I played on a pvp server and as I’m running through the forest of one of the early areas I got attacked by someone from the opposite faction. It was my first pvp encounter. I was about to be creamed when all of a sudden this knight, a member of my faction, in glowing white armor on an armored horse charges in and kills the enemy. He saluted me and rode back off into the forest, and a min later 20g shows up in my mail saying welcome to the game. Hope this helps in your journey.
Did I say to myself, “oh he’s such a showoff”! No. It was just a guy who recognized a new player and wanted to help and have a little fun.
I used to be alot more impressed by the fancy things in mmo’s, when everything was new. Sounds like the OP is just perhaps being brought back himself to those early days of playing, as he plays with the newbies.
(edited by Moderator)
hitting max luck should give an achievement which rewards something akin to mawdrey II that can eat exotic essences of luck.
Nice idea. That seems like a natural progression.
It’s clunky and expensive. Perhaps there will be some use for elements of HoT we haven’t seen yet, like Raids. In any other setting I’ve experienced, it falls way short, especially since we now have herald, which is hands down bada*s. Much more mobile focused, vastly superior in terms of general grp support, and already feels good with upkeep costs.
Every mmo I’ve played has grind in it. When you play any game content time and again, it becomes a grind, the trick is to find ways to make it feel less so, over time. The invasion failed at that.
If it was they failed. I am currently having dinner and watching a movie.. no stress here.
Now that just sounds logical. Avoid the psychology experiment all together.
