It totally depends on how one is geared and traited and skilled. But considering that the ‘weakness’ of the thief is that it is rather single target orientated and that the weakness of the ele the survivability is, and considering that the weakness of the ele can easier be countered then the weakness of the thief I would say the ele is likely to win, but it really depends on the stats and the person playing the character.

We don’t know. in GW1 they repeated the festivals every year, but it’s unknown if they do in GW2 as well and if they do the same items and things every year.

I have to disagree with you on this point. There are two important reasons to put all possible gear in the vendorwindow.

a: preview gear for a future character
b: Buy gear to salvage it into mats like ecto’s. Heavy armor is more likely to salvage in e.g. ori.

Many people like dungeons but are not interested in the gear. To prevent that the tokens keep stacking up and to have a better use then throwing them into the bin, they salvage gear. To make sure they have a higher change what they want need for crafting, people often get armor for different professions.

You want those people to be limited cause you didn’t read properly??

Having said that there, if you want to make a suggestion to make it more stupidity proof, I would say to put a checkmark somewhere in the window ‘Only show Gear I can equip’ and have that checked on default.

If people uncheck that mark and still buy the wrong ones…..well there is no limit to stupidity ands its likely going to happen, but I hope a lot less then now

So did I, but in my guild I made a name. I was an officer, I had a greenlight from my guildleader and it was ok.

A guild is a confined area. people can choose to trust you and if you cheat them give you the penalty of leaving them. If you trick guildmembers in false lotery’s you’ll get a lot of leavers so there is a reason to trust you.

This action means eaither:
a: you are trying to get people to sent you free money
b: people trying to scam you and reporting you cause they so called had the winning number.

You prolly want to advertise your guild to get more members by making your lottery open for everyone but dont do and dont try.

First of all I would advise you to change the negative tone of your message. I know your upset and I totally understand that you are upset. You don’t know the reason however why they suspended you (well beside the general reason wich is botting). Talk to support and treat them with respect and in an un-emaotional way will prolly yield better results then calling them what you are calling them.

Support has tasked themself with a 72 hour period in wich they have to react. This is a maximum. If you haven’t heard from them by 72 hours there is something wrong and you should let them know here (in the sticky’s is a threat for that).

Most cases get resolved however within a few hours. So be patient and when they come to you be friendly and polite. If you didnt do anything wrong, all will be fine.

there is no region lock and you can play normally from Canada.
You need to make an account on a server that is in the same region as where you brought the game. But Canadians can connect normally. I have a few canadians in my guild who all play on a european server (the one who got them hooked on the game is a former englishman that moved to Canada and uses the game to stay in touch with old friends)

possibly during the instalation you checked unchecked an option to make a shortcut on your dekstop.

Like being asked have you actually been to the chantry of secrets?? and did you do it after you made sure you got 100%??
There is a known bug that prevents you for getting 100% map completion that can be resolved by going there and exiting again.

If that doesn’t work, also make sure you have the ones on claw island (if you have done the personal story there then your ok).

Many people have claimed to checked it thouroughly, but found out later they really didnt have 100%. Best advise is to print this list on paper, check very map, end then checkmark them with a pen. You don’t have to go there, you can hover your mouse over the worldmap where the area is and you’ll see if it is completed or not:

Yes, the player base is actually growing. The reason you see fewer people is because the initial level rush is over and now players gravitate towards where they want to be. You don’t have to take my word for it either. Just do a dragon champion event on any server and you’ll see how many people are still playing. And those are just the ones interested in pve.

I have to disagree strongly with the motives to keep a respawnrate silent for everyone, to prevent botters for mis-using the info.

I am very strongly against botters and I think they should be stopped. Thats why it is important that things like bot detection methods or how DR works have to remain a secret. That information doesn’t effect the general population. When it comes however to important information like this I think you push it too far.

Lets not make this a police state over botters.

I would imagine doing something as in the lost shores event. After the event the new map was open to explore.

Now for the ’ dungeon’ we have to wait and see. but for the two instances. It might very well be that after the living story has ended the hatchery and cragstead is open for public as part of the map (so open the gate without entering an instance). Maybe even with a heart that remembers of the past events or a dynamic event.

There are facets of the content I would rather see to be gone. As for changing the world. Keeping new content forever doesnt help. So I’m just curious bout what they mean with an everlasting mark on the world :P

3: All I can say is that you should keep on talking to support. If english isnt your native language, it might be wise to tell them that and also what your native tongue is. Perhaps even if it isn’t officially supported they have someone there who speaks it.

4: if you cant get a proper solution with support you can always ask an arenanetofficial to have a look at the ticketnumber. You can make sucha request by asking in the account section of this forum. Make sure you include your ticketnumber then.

The bug is that the daily reset doesnt reset for some characters. afaik it’s a totally random bug that can hit you out of nowhere

I am on Gandara, an highly populated and mostly english speaking server. Basicly its active all day round but peak like said earlier is in round 7-10 pm GMT

most european servers are slowly getting active now. Many people who have a job are starting to get home. But the real peak on european servers isnt for another 4-5 hours from now

Walkthrough:
Inquest engineers that spawn after disabling containers need to be killed in order to contribute to event progression. Otherwise, there won’t be enough containers to complete the event and it will fail.

So this isn’t a bug but as designed.

Some events have a random change to happen (Maw). Some have a few pre-events that have to done successfull. Some have a spawningwindow. Etcetera

Second of all in general, many fantasy genres have enraged spirits or ghosts. Often called things like wraths, demons, shades, lich, etc. Many times emotional reactions that last an eternity are the cause of this transformation.

It shows how eternity can drive a soul to madness.
It’s not often that you see the transition and reason for this madness, but think bout the fact that every undead you kill and every ghost you kill is for a reason. Good and evil and the balance between good and evil isn’t a sharp line.

I wouldn’t do Ascalonian catacombs storymode if I where you. You have to kill two ghosts that where lovers in real life and in afterlife.

The size of the skill effect is scaled to the the target rather than the user of the skill. Use anything on an air elemental and you’ll see that. Using Impale(warrior offhand with a sword) on a Norn is also a good example. Instead of looking like they got impaled by a sword it looks like they got impaled by a greatsword.

This partly right, if you look e.g. to Dragon’s tooth, there are limitations to the scaling. e.g. on the oakheart champion it starts with the tip of the toothe allready in the oakheart and then falling through the body. If you try it on the shadow behemoth it actually starts halfway his body and falls through it (and barely visable).

it also depends on the animationtype of the skill or effect. a skill like e.g. Whirling Wrath has an animation that is totally scaled to the caster.

Botom line is, that its all animation and effects. The size, amount of damage, range and hitrate of skills are always the same, no matter what profession you use.

Yip clovers are only used for making a legendary weapon. So unless you get 75 more, and also the rest of the things needed for a legendary weapon they are useless

this is not a molten alliance mining pick bug but a well known gathering tool bug.
When ever you use a gathering tool while in combat there is a bug that very rare can hit you that results in ruined orr, ruined plant fibers or ruined logs.

To make sure you don’t hit this bug make sure you are out of combat

I recognise this quote. Arenanet has not the power to create money or items out of thin air on the live servers. and thats what they basicly are saying. Never asume that 50 people complaining bout something on a forum is what ther majority of people in the game wants. From my guild im the person afaik thats active here. Besides that on places like this people tend to say what they dislike rather then what they like. So you end up with more negativism as is reality. My engineer belt uses elixer h as healing (medkit is useless crap imo, specially cause I have the Self-Regulating Defenses-trait active wich resets the elixer h skill when tossed, even though the description doesn’t say so)

So the F1 skill I only use to heal allies, cause I never have a big health issue.

I use a rifle to keep foes at distance during single foe fights and switch to flamethrower during most fights. and off course am traited to make conditions do more damage.
I use two turrets as dummy’s for extra damage and to get agro of me. these are riffle turret and rocket turret. Personally I never feel the need to use f2 and f3 skills that come with them.

The flametrower skill (9) gives incendiary ammo on F4 wich i never use cause when I want to burn my enemy’s I switch to my flamethrower.

Together with armor specs and traits I’m really happy with my engineer. She is quick in killing, and very durable.

I totally understand why you are asking this but no. The respec handicap is created to forge people to make it difficult to change and to work on character development.

In GW1 people where too much specialised in the task ahead. Many tricks only started to show up after many years of playing. But the ability to change your skills and attributes whenever you where in a town made that you could change from a solo farming tank to a dps machine with 3 mouseclicks. Now people are forced to decide how they want to play the game. You can always change the path, but with a handicap.

But i dont see this happening. the reason is that they trive to not give any race an advantage over the other. And while this game could also be played with a char character, it would make the humans an silvari feel left out.

Not true! For almost all points and specially the easy ones you need EotN, but not for 5 titles in pre-searing ascalon.

(drunken, sugar, festival items, survivor and legendary defender of ascalon).

To get those points without owning Eye of the north you need to make a prophecy’s character and never leave the tutorial map (if you look at the worldmap you only see ascalon).

However these titles are all very hard to get. Where the legendary defender of ascalon can be done within a few weeks, the rest needs months and even years of playing to get them and you have to stay in a very limited area all the time.

So best way to do things is to actually buy Eye of the North. Having the black moa pet at level 20 and the hero M.O.X. is I think the easiest way to get to 6 points. If you don’t have all three campaigns you can also use your 50 free torunaments point Tolkano gives you in the great temple of balthasar to get 10 zaishen keys, sell them and use the profits to get one normal undedicated miniature and one tapestry (you get one on arrival, but you need two if you mix different shrines).

If you don’t own factions for the black moa pet you can also finish any campaign to get your three points.

I have been a resident of Gandara since release and I really enjoy it. Chat is very friendly and kind. people are helpfull. It is highly populated and very good balanced (we do okayish in World Versus World, have a mature sPvP population, low level maps are nicely filled, but high level events are also very active (I’ve been guesting round several times to find an unlocked temple of balthasar but always ended un my own server cause people where actually doing it succesfull).

What one of the ANet people said about it, basically magic find increases your chance of all loot types you’ll get less empty loots and potentially less greys and maybe some less whites (though bags tend to be calculated above whites) but in return more blues including t6 mats if your lucky.

As for kill speed vs loot chance, if you have 100% MF you need to have similiar loot rate you’d have to kill twice as many in the same time period as without that MF, considering MF gear doesn’t slow you that much its basically a preference…

Though there is/was diminishing returns on loot at some point but I can’t remember which one it effected most.

100% MF doesn’t double the amount of loot.
e.g. lets say the change of getting an exotic when farming is 1 out of 1000 (0.1%). With 100% magic find that percentage doubles to 0.2%, so 2 out of 1000. So 100% MF means bout 10% increase in value of loot (considering you sell everything you loot to the merchant). And yes you are bout killing10% slower, ending up with roughly the same amount of wealth.

MF is only effective if you really are farming for high end items (e.g. rare’s and exotic gear for ecto’s or rare materials like lodestones)

DR affects the loot table in a negative way just as MF effects it in a positive way (you get lesser loot and lesser valuable loot). But DR isn’t going to be actrive due to what kind of loot your getting. DR gets active if you overfarm a certain part of a map and/or a certain type of foes.

What happens to the basic items then?? the total amount of drops still have to be 100%, so even if magic find gets you more fine drops (wich I actually doubt) it means you get lesser basic drops, so lesser lootbags. While lootbags are what you really really want when farming tier 6 materials.

It might be that the effect is slightly higher, but cause of the decrease in white drops and so lootbags and the effect of slower farming with magic find gear it will in every scenario be less effective to put on magic find gear.

I disagree on this statement.
Engineers don’t need the toolbelt skills (f1, f2, f3 and f4) to be succesfull, just like a guardian doesn’t need them. They are just a nice addition, besides that they don’t have a weapon swap button, actually giving them the same amount of buttons as the guardian.

I only sometimes use my F1 skill on my guardian to give other players a bit of healing. What your ssaying only goes for certain engineer builds wicharen’t more effective as others.

The one with the least amount of buttons is the Thief (only weapon swap, F1, 1 to 0)

hmmmm, with all do respect, you are also asking questions bout how to farm tier 6 materials in another thread. So calling yourself an avid gatherer might be a too bold statement. Besides that you go against the statement on the offcial wiki and that of established players like Bri.

I’m NOT saying your wrong but it’s hard to swallow it as a fact when other sources are disagreeing with you. So can you please explain more of your testing methods. Best offcourse would be a few sets of screenshots with the servertime showing on the map (3 sets of 2 pictures would do).

Magic find increases the change of getting rare items from drops and depending on the materials you want it can havet an opposite effect.

The rarity of the matieral isn’t based upon the tier but on the rarity itself (the colour).
Most tier 6 fine materials you need are mostly coming from dead corpses directly or lootbags. Fine materials are blue coloured, while it increases the change slightly to get a blue drop above the white drops, MF is mostly aiming for rare and exotic drops

Besides that the molten bags that also give these fine tier 6 materials (and are actually the better source then direct drops) are of basic rarity. By increasing the change of getting rare materials using MF, you are decreasing the change of getting these.

MF doesn’t work on opening the bags, it only works negative on the droprate of these bags.

So for The fine tier 6 materials like e.g. vials of powerful blood, they have no effect to a negative effect. besides that you are killing slower cause of using MF-gear so on those its a bad thing to use MF-gear.

Very different it is for rare tier 5 materials you also need like e.g. crystal lodestones.
They drop from bags (according to the wiki, but I actually doubt it cause the amount of actual reports are minimum, if they do the change is so low it isnt worth it), chests in a certain dungeon and drop directly from a certain foe (for charged you need sparks in malchor’s leap).

Now these are of rare quality and drop directly from the sparks, so it is a good idea to use MF for that.

Sorry for a lengthy post. It turned out to be more difficult then I suspected.

Empty maps: If a map gets empty (no players) it goes to sleep and is remade on the server when someone enters it again, restting all events as it was a serverreset.

If you do a tier 1 bounty on monday and a tier 2 bounty on wednesday you end up with 20 merits in total. 15 on monday and 5 more on wednesday.

There are two types of games.
a: a game like e.g. Skyrim. It’s an offline game that is foun for bout 100 hours of gameplay but then you have seen it all and you move along until an expansion comes out. Nobody complains bout this cause you also only pay to buy the game.

b: a game like e.g. WoW. They do everything in their power to keep you addicted and interested in this game. The simple reason is they want your monthly 10 dollars

GW2 tries to find the middle between them. They are doing their best to keep the game interesting between expansions, without asking monthly fees. They do this not for gaining profit, but for the love of the game and the community.

The game is definitly not dead or anywhere going there. But you are right that people are temporary moving on. Although thats changing as well I have seen people leaving for the new tombraiders game. They finished that and are coming back now.

wait for the next expansion and you will see it grow active again. Or do what others are doing move along for a bit. Do never expect this to be a WoW clone. Anet was founded by people who worked for blizzard and disagreed with how they approached the worl of mmo-gamers

You are always free to sent a support ticket, and this form should be working. Perhaps can you also tell your windows resolution your using. As webdesigner myself this can be important to get the bug out of the system.

To answer your problem directly. The amount of gold you can sent to a new account is limited. This is done to discourage goldsellers. To prevent a bypass in this system, if your sending items or goods, this is also limited (the merchant value is being used I think/guess).

Lowering the amount of goods you are trying to sent will solve this for now. You can always try again in a week or two when the limit will be higher.

When transfering valuables like gold or items to your rl GF, always include in the the message why you are sending it to her. Even if she is in the same room as you. The reason is that for the same reason a suspicious flag can be raised having a GM look into it. So your actually writing this for the GM.

It is actually very simple. Do not break the rules. It’s not ok to offend others. There are no ’but’s’ or ’tho’s’ to this rule. If you got offended then just report them.

There is an old internet saying ‘Do not feed the troll’. What you did was wrong. You shouldn’t have offended other players.

As for the other players, the reason they might not have been suspended can easily be that nobody actually reported them. If people decide to ignore them, move server cause of them etc then Anet will never know bout it. Bottom line is that you used faul language and you shouldnt have done that, no matter what the cause was.

I really understand your anger, but I have to agree with Anet’s decission here.

I am having the exact same problem.

I got the Star with my name and the 2 gifts of the explorer and EVERY area says it is complete, but I am still stuck on 99%. and I have the Plains of ashford one in south west

the title, gifts and star are rewarded when you get to 100%, but after you finished some now points are added. This is not a bug. While the game keep aknowledging your effort (and keeping the rewards in place), they changed it a little bit by adding new points to discover (yaaaaay new content).
In historical sequence:

2 poi’s in wayfarer foothills and diessa plateau (both in the flame and frost instances, walk to the gate to unlock them).

2 WP’s in brisban wildlands and plains of ashford (guildmissions update)

2 WP’s in Orr area’s, so there is always atleast one waypoint incontested in any map.

2 poi’s in lions arch (these where added end of november and where if i didnt missed anything the first additional points to the game since launch)

You need to have done 4 daily achievements. To get one daily achievement you need to do 5 daily achievements in a day. Keep in mind that this has to be done inside a 24 hour window that last from 00:00 UTC till 23:59 UTC. if you done it 4 times you will have 4/4 for your monthly

1: rightclick the name and then click report (add them as friend frist to make it easier).
2: if no time, etc screenshot it and open up a ticket.

I know it very likely is very easy. but on the other hand it isn’t always the case. I normally leave priority and timeplan to the experts who need to do it (in this case anet).

In many cases they do so. I think the 72 hour response time is that sometimes a senior staffmember needs to look at it and like in most company’s they work officehours. so 72 hours is to bridge the weekend for tickets that needs review by a senior. My experience is that most issuesi are resolved within a day.

Like I said, the name is wrong. end of the story and in my point of view you should be ashamed of yourself.

Yeah, and i was wondering myself, how it is possible to link a key to a permanently (?) banned account. Apparently, there is no block, hence why i started this topic in the first place.

If it is an unused account then make a new one, but make sure the pruchase problems are solved and cleared first. Your friend is now marked suspicious by anet and thats the thing that needs solving.

If he didnt got his money back for the first key, then he should ask for a refund as well.

In the one I mentioned:
This is next to an uncontested waypoint (never use that one!) where people end up being swarmed by the enemy’s while loading in. there is no event going on but the village/campment is constantly udner attack by waves. This goes on for hours and hours till a servereset. This often only solves it for a a few hours.
