Can we get abilities that negate an entire skill tree or class mechanic? Give thief a skill that disables engi kits for X seconds and all they use is weapon set or something…

Dagger pistol is way to go… S/p has no stealth on the weapon set… While fun in practice matches not as useful against people who know the game…

I run signet of agility with this build for extra dodges when I need them…
Feline grace is good but you don’t need all the extra dodges using d/p. Sometimes you will tho and that’s what agility signet is for.

I’m not sure why fury runs are not used as often in spvp. I see mostly pack or orge scholar… Since revamp on runes I been running fury and some sort of alternate source of fury….

You can survive on d/p with stealth times properly and grabbing agility signet helps with those dodges when you are low on init or buying time for a skill to come off cd…
Yea weapons over armor as that increases your dps. Base damage on the weapons are higher and stats too.

They are simply opening up more options… Thieves need this change in sa so they can survive in Zerg situations. Pretty sure they are not balancing for 1v1. I haven’t checked out rest of the classes changes but I’m sure they got something similar. Resilience was useless as gm trait because everyone choose venom share or rejuv. They got rid of might stacking, which everyone kitenned about. Now you cry the defense line allows thief to be defensive? Seriously, thief can’t win in the community no matter what we do…

Shortbow is absolutely a must in spvp… You could get away without using in wvw.
Pvp you need that aoe poison and weakness and teleport. Bouncing projectiles are pretty sweet too.
I usually just burst mm necro first then back out after they mitigate it and use shortbow to help cleave down pets… Sometimes you can one or two pets with the dagger cleave…

That high damage is against a zerker necro.
I’m running 6/6/2 d/p and sometimes 6/6/0/0/2 with s/p.
With d/p I auto attack necrosnat at 100% for 3k. I back stab them for about 9.5k.
Nothing abnormal about this video or anything. You will get kitten d by condis with this build tho.

They are good but I don’t know about OP… Dagger cleaves 2 targets and they can die pretty quick…
Don’t plan for 1v1 unless you are dueling. Plan for 1vs many…
Thieves will destroy noobs no matter what class they play. The problem is really when you have two really good players. One on a thief and the other on any other class. The other class should win 1v1 more often than not. At high level thieves main ability is simply decaping quickly because of shortbow/shadowstep.
Without that they would not be in meta for high level play… Go play a hot join and thieves dominate. Play a real match against a team that has been playing since release and you won’t 1v1 anyone unless maybe it’s a Mesmer with their abilities on cd…

I’m running d/p 6/6/2 in spvp… 3k auto attacks are fun.
I don’t much trouble with power mancers running 6/6/2. Gotta have condi removal and a stun break. Don’t stand in wells. Your aa will hit for 3k tho. So you can burst them down quick. Bs will hit for 6-8k depending on their buffs and % Life.
I’m a fan of rage. Sigil > trait. Same cool down as trait but 3s of haste instead of 2.

Try 6/6/2… You don’t need the daZe if your’re aa for 3k…
All they have to do is remove the shadow step mechanics from it and have the character movement aspect of it act like Mesmer’s portal.
This would require paying attention to the thief class.

I just use inf signet when I get knocked back to get right on top of them or inf+steal if it’s a long distance… If they daze me with gs then I just spam dodges and Dodges and PPP agility signet for more dodges…
I agree with OP that we need to stop complaining about this ability.

My reason why we need to stop complaining is:
Don’t wvw… Play spvp to learn how to play the class.
I don’t have a problem with them using d/p. Only time the get me is when I’m engaged with someone else and low and I eat a rapid fire…
In 1v1 just pay attention to their knock back timer and immunity activation. I just stealth when they have immunity up. Stay stealthed until it drops. Then dps and keep them blinded…
6/6/2 with 97% crit rate when behind opponent and 3s haste is kitten …

Any build I run has 2 sa for condi removal…
Imo is best build atm…
There’s also a bug when being stealthed and teleporting. Sometimes it shows you as no longer invis but you actually are if you look at the buffs…
Either that or check your revealed debuff. You can’t stealth when it’s up.
Why are you even trying to play a thief with 170-500ms latency? You should be on warrior or minion master necro…
