What you’re seeing is not a password reset request but an log-in session. When you use the forums, the Texas IP can show up, but it’s not resetting anything it’s simply reflecting your activity/access to the forums.
Hope that sets your mind at rest. (And yes, I’m working on not having that show up, because it causes so much concern and I truly understand how that happens! “Texas? I’m not in Texas! What’s going on!?” I really hope we can remove that from the log-in list, as it’s unnecessary and disturbing.)

I agree, I am concerned that someone has compromised your e-mail and then your game account, after which s/he added authentication that is locking you out.

I recommend Mobile Auth, if you can do it, but any auth is a very good idea!
Just to check, because it’s a common mistake, are you logging in with email and password or your display name (VietnamsesNinja) and password?

Hey I appreciate all the feedback and suggestions we have gotten on this topic! I have seen people refer back to the original CDI thread we did awhile back and I appreciate that as well.
My goal here was to spark intelligent conversation between the community and myself with perhaps a newer audience then when the original CDI went out awhile back. I also will say that I am glad to see that people participated in this thread and are still here from when the original CDI happened. Thanks everyone for keeping this constructive!

Can you try and come up with the mechanics and secondary objectives behind this MOBA like game mode in our game?
I think some of the sentiments expressed on the livestream are being misinterpreted – that’s probably on us. So, let’s clear things up! With each profession, we discussed where players felt they were strong, where they were weak, where they SHOULD be strong, and where they SHOULD be weak. We also presented what we feel the strengths/weaknesses of each profession was, and sort of our long-term high-level goals for balancing.
So, here’s a few notes on warrior:
Warrior:
Of the heavy classes, the Warrior is able to balance sustainability and damage. They bring high sustained damage and opponent control.
The point about warrior low/high mobility was actually community feedback that we were relaying, in that you would like to see the warrior have less access to mobility skills – not more. We don’t think warrior should have more mobility.
Our list of long-term balance goals is something we created independently of forum feedback, and honestly, we’re pretty happy with how closely your thoughts and our ideas coincided. Sorry for any confusion.

I have tried it already. I created the repair for the troubleshooting steps, but still doesn’t work. Should uninstall and reinstall it?
Game reinstallation wouldn’t resolve this, no. I suggest you consider the option of submitting a ticket from another e-mail address with the current ticket number in the subject line. What I suspect is that at some point, our NoReply@GuildWars2.com address was added to a filter, and therefore you’re not getting our mails. Alternately, your e-mail provider is blocking them. In any case, we can look at the situation via a ticket. Click “Support” above, then “Submit a request” for help.
We often find that forgotten transaction in the TP account for the change in currency. You’re welcome to submit a ticket for a review, if you desire.
So, i dont know if anyone else has been having this problem, but every time i log into my Guild wars 2 account, i have to change the password

And than Almost every password is taken, apparently because i hacker may have used it, so now my password has to be a random assortment of 25-40 letters, and has to written down each and every kittenin time, is this a thing or am the only being kittened by arenanet at this point?
There are two possibilities. As mentioned here, someone may have your credentials and may be changing your password while you’re inactive on the account. Or, you may be hitting a glitch. We have always tried to stay 5v5 to be consistent with the Conquest game mode, but I like what you were trying to solve there with the restriction of skills/traits.
Thank you for the update however this does not address the issue of players who have obtained the wrong place achievement. Am I correct?
Rewards will be redistributed based on the final standings at the conclusion of the Tournament. Your placement will be corrected, as defined by your World Association.
Glad it’s sorted out for you. I don’t think anyone on our end did anything, but it could be that your e-mail provider removed whatever block they placed on our mails, and that’s why it finally arrived. Hopefully that’s sorted for the future, but if you continue to have issues, feel free to submit a ticket and we’ll try to provide trouble-shooting steps.
The easiest way to submit any questions you may have about your individual account to Support is simply to click “Support” at the top of this page, then click “Submit a request” in the upper right-hand section of that linked page. The team should be able to answer your questions.
You need to double-click the tools to equip them to your tools slots. They won’t get used if they’re just sitting in your inventory.

This is a good point. We’d like to revisit this system at some point.
What types of specific stats do you want to see (keep in mind combat stats vs “gamemode” stats)? How much info is too much info?
I think it’s good to show more info for these types of things, but keep in mind that if we add too much, it can be overwhelming for some players. Due to that we’d want to find a nice balance between too little and too much.
Just wanted to say thank you for being so constructive in this thread guys. We’re watching threads like this one, and we really find peaceful debates to be highly useful for us when gathering balance perception data.
We know food is an issue that definitely gets people passionate, so thank you for staying calm while voicing your opinions! I can’t make any promises on fixes, but I can say we’re debating this issue internally just like you guys are, and we use your points/counterpoints as reference in our discussions.

I very much don’t agree with several of the concepts you’ve posted here. Overall though, remember the medium and that “proof” is more to show evidence that a biased sample doesn’t necessarily represent the entirety of the population.
It has come to the point that as WvW has not received real updates since launch that we ourselves would not mind doing the testing.
I can appreciate that many people don’t like EotM, but don’t conflate a lack of updates that you personally like with a lack of updates. WvW has added a great deal of content and rewards over just the last calendar year.
Hopefully you will find more you like in future updates and we’ll continue to add to the game.

There are some reasons why inflation coesn t take in account value of alpacas in France.For the same reason should not take in account all the stuff that has almost no (real) demand.
While T6, Precursors, lodestones, gems, etc etc etc should be the best indicators.

First off, there is a huge amount of demand for alpacas, they’re pretty awesome.

Great responses, all. Really impressed with the turnout. Posts like the ones from Holland, SuinegTsol, and pierwola (to name a few) are exactly the type of high-level role discussion we are looking for.
As a note, I want to be very clear that we’re looking for comments from all game modes, PvE, PvP, and WvW included. Don’t be shy.

There’s some really cool ideas in here! Considering nothing like this has really been done before, I’d keep discussing the ins and outs of the structure and rules until you land on something that works for everyone. There will be a few obstacles for you guys to hash out, such as streaming the event and determining winners, but I think you’re on the right track.
I’ll keep this thread bookmarked and check back in. I’d be really interested in seeing how the invitational mentioned above would pan out.

I’ll make a couple of points here to hopefully clarify this issue.
1) It takes a very large amount of time and effort to make a new map. It’s definitely more than a 6 month process from start to finish. Especially if we are talking about building a new borderlands taking all the thing we’ve learned since the game came out into account. With that in mind it’s a big task. It took us a little under a year to get EotM built and shipped from conception to release. So that is a more reasonable timeline for a new map.
2) The area we added to Obsidian Sanctum was in progress prior to the incident mentioned above and, while it didn’t take a particularly large amount of time, was still a process of over a month. We don’t release map changes without thorough testing. Keep in mind that was just a small change to an existing map, not a completely new map.
3) We currently, unfortunately, don’t have the ability to rotate maps in and out of the game in the manner discussed above. We have talked about this concept many times and it is something we’d like to be able to do long term, but it is not a small task given the technical structure of our game.
All of those things being true, we absolutely want to make new maps for WvW and when we have them ready to talk about and show off, believe me we will. It’s very important to us that when we do release a new WvW map it is a clear example of what we think the ideal WvW map would be. That means we will test the heck out of it and do everything we can to make sure it is even more awesome than the current maps. I realize this isn’t a timeline or an answer to where are more maps, but it’s as much as we can give you right now and it hopefully gives some insight to the size of the task. As I said, as soon as we have more to talk about or show, you will hear it.

This Friday on “Ready Up” I’ll be joined by Game Designer Karl McLain and Game Design Lead Jonathan “Chaplan” Sharp for a discussion on balance design philosophy. “What’s that, and why should I care?” you ask? Great question!
We won’t be going over future changes we’re making, but rather discussing the ideas and philosophy that drive balance changes. We’ll also be discussing our vision of what purpose/role each profession serves in relation to another.
To get started, we’d like to ask a few open-ended questions to all of you. In your opinion, what should the strengths and weaknesses of each profession be? What’s your profession’s kryptonite? And remember, no single profession should be the best at everything!
We’ll be reading through your thoughts over the next few days, and we’ll try to address as much as we can on Friday. Feel free to post your thoughts below, but try to keep your replies relatively short (I’d aim for under 300 words).

Discussions of gold selling, in-game abusive, hacking, exploiting, and the like are not allowed on the forums. If you feel a player is abusive in-game, please report them using the in-game ticketing system so our Customer Support team can properly investigate the issue and take any appropriate action.
Not a bug. When you complete a story step with another player, if you’re on the same step, it will ask if you want to accept their progress and progress to the next step with them. This can put you on a different Order’s storyline (or different minor race in Chapter 5.)
Hey all!
As an update, we’ve had some meetings and this did come up as one of the skills we’d like to test changes with. To start, we’re looking at the overall radius and damage output. We did discuss some of the other ‘crazy’ stuff (that involves functionality change), but for now we’re going to test it out with some number changes and see how it feels. This probably won’t be in for quite some time, but I just wanted to update the thread and let you know that we didn’t forget.

I would like to ask how come sometimes the lute “chords” are different? Despite pressing the same key, it would play different strums. I’ve tested this and noticed that there can be 3 different strums (or maybe more) from pressing the same note.
While each key represents a specific chord notation, different structures/performances of that chord notation can play on any given key for a variety of reasons:
1. The inversion of the chord changes depending on what the previous chord inversion was. This is done automatically in order to ensure the most natural-sounding voice leading, so you don’t have to think about it. Chord inversions included: Root position, first inversion and third inversion.
2. There are also variations. Think of them as several different takes of the given chord. (Take one, take two, take three). This is to allow extra diversity of the sound of a chord, to prevent repetitiveness.
3. For each chord type that is played, there is also an upstrum and downstrum version.
I also don’t quite understand how we are suppose to duet with other players on a locked 120bpm tempo? Unless you’re specifically playing songs that are 120bpm only…
That’s right, if you and another performer (lute or drum) get together and play to the global tempo, you can jam out in sync at 120 bpm. But if you want to play songs outside of 120bpm and don’t care about tempo drift then you can always unlock your tempo and play that way. The options are yours!

For those wondering about what boosts are converted when you double-click a powder. It enchants boosts from character inventory in the order listed in the tooltip.
Sounds like you should try the ‘Play Now’ button. It prioritizes servers that are just starting a map, has playable space, and is the same server other people will hop into when they use ‘Play Now’ so that they’re usually never empty and/or fill up quickly.
I just want to be sure to say that there is a really good reason that it can take a while to sort out issues of this sort. The reason is that we want to use every possible measure to ensure that we are helping the real account owner and not a hacker, and that we are not allowing our processes to be used against any player. So security best practices drives the information we seek, even info that you don’t feel is critical, or which makes you really have to stop and think to be able to answer.
The serial code is not the be-all and end-all of account security, although it’s very helpful! But we are well aware that a hacked e-mail account can result in a hacker getting access to that code. For that reason, we have a lot of means of identifying a person and we use more than any single means to make sure that the person writing is the legitimate account holder. When we make those checks, we’re then able to help that person do all s/he can do to secure the computer and the related accounts.

Thank you for asking. As answered above, account sharing is strictly prohibited. Shared accounts make up a significant number of support tickets for any game, so that is why sharing is prohibited for Guild Wars 2 and for Guild Wars, as well.
If you’re getting a response that indicates that the team cannot help you, then it could be that research indicates you are not the original owner of the account. If you’re using a second-hand account of some kind — given, resold, stolen, whatever — then you’re not the original account owner and we are not able to offer you any support services. Only the proven account owner can make changes to an account, for security reasons.
If you are the original owner of the account and you’re unclear about the matter, update your ticket to request further information.
