Trapper Thief is a great build. It is OK. Reinforever made a real hype out of this, and it was really fun. Unfortunately, this build will go extinct when HoT releases.
Ps: we need to meet that Thief, he is getting infamous for his nice display to skill lol.
I’ve been on hiatus. Jesus, is this what the forums have come to?
The ghost trapper is balanced from a viewpoint of it will never kill you if you know wtf to do. As far as the power version goes, it’s far from permastealth and has it’s cons. for people that were wondering about the backstab trapper that I originally posted, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jpiAUU9b3Ew here ju go.I’m working on a p/p trapper pew pew build as my final hurrah before HoT comes out and breaks the spec. I’ll keep y’all posted.
so all those players you killed didn’t know “wtf they were doing”? So….. that makes you being The Only One player “who knew wtf you’re doing?”
Interesting!

“What Makes A Good Game – Progression” By dayrinni
http://www.spacesector.com/blog/2011/11/what-makes-a-good-game-progression/
“For my second post, I’d like to talk about about Progression in games. Before I get into that, I would like to take a moment to thank everyone who read and made some comments on my first post about Immersion. I will be making some replies there shortly. People have different tastes and impressions in games. I really liked reading the replies from people on this!”
“Progression exists in many different forms so I will talk about it generally. It is important because the players can see the reward for their time spent in the game. It can keep people engaged in the game and longevity in games is always a good thing to have”.
Progression
“Progression is having goals and how the player achieves them. What is their purpose(s) in the game? How do they fulfill their purpose(s)? By having good progression, it keeps players involved in the game. People, especially gamers, like to strive towards something. They like to set themselves a goal in a game and then achieve it. Put simply, this can be seen as the “carrot on the end of the stick””
“4X games for example offer several different forms of progression (more on this below): empire expansion, ship design, and technology/research to name a few. To me, one of the greatest joys in playing a space 4X is watching my empire spread out amongst the stars. I love building massive fleets and “incorporating” lesser civilizations into my own. MMORPGs generally have a lot of progression: gear based, skills, encounter based and so on”.
“As mentioned above, most gamers like to improve themselves and do better. They want to gain that next level, or that next technology for their ships. They strive to achieve these goals. It creates an environment that makes the player’s time well spent and encourages them to play longer. The excitement level and desire of getting something keeps them interested”.
“Progression rewards the players. That is why the typical experience and leveling system in MMORPGs hasn’t gone away (TOR is reported to have a very strong and lengthy leveling experience). It is very easy to understand and gives great results. “Hey I gained a level and got some new abilities!””
“You now have something you didn’t before. In 4X games, technology is a great example of this. Researching a new plasma cannon that can be placed on your ships: the excitement level grows with each click that increases the number of plasma cannons. Imagine the damage it will deal to your enemies! Or acquiring shields for the first time and knowing (hoping) that the enemy would not be able to deal with them”.
“Even though the developer may place progression in a game, it does not discount the fact that players make their own progression (sometimes unknowingly). In a 4X game, there could be an instance where a particular planet is “ultra-rich” in ore and it would be vital for the player to acquire that”.
“Perhaps this planet is controlled by an enemy empire with a strong defensive presence. This situation can set off an entire chain of small goals leading up to the eventual attack on the planet. The player just created a small progression system”.
“Next, I would like to provide a humorous real life example. In MoO1/2, I always played as the Psilons. I enjoyed having a large tech edge (plasma cannons, anyone?). I always got very displeased with the Darloks stealing my technology. So, I made it my mission to show them what eXterminate really means in 4X”.
“Other forms such as victory conditions and achievements helps too. The boundaries are really endless and each game can have their own progression and be unique. That is the beauty of games. I want to throw out one warning: do not make the progression overly difficult or time consuming. A fine balance must be done to ensure that the players do not feel the time spent is not worth what is earned (or will be)”.
Example
“As with the previous article, I want to give an example of how I achieved progression. I will again use the MUD for my example (I’ll use my own 4X game when it gets farther along). During character creation, a player could choose one of two skill paths to travel down. Each path had 10 skills”.
“They then could select 7 of the 10 skills and these would be gained in 5 level increments. This was a good system because it allowed the player to set their own goals with gaining skills at certain levels. Then they wanted to use them and so the player had to work to attain them. This created a small progression system that encouraged people to play more”.

What is wrong with some of you? The Op asked a simple common sense direct understandable question.
The Op is asking you the question: Not for you to ask him/her the question or to answer it for him/her . English is not my primary language and i understand the differences.
This is not the first time i see this happening in the forum where a OP would ask for other opinions or asking questions and to be instead criticized and ridiculed.
So many times, that is the reason why i do not even waste my time to post on the forums because of this.
By the way, where are the moderators?
What makes u not buy HOT?

(edited by DarkSyze.8627)
Thx for the post Colin! So many people are statistically misinformed on so many levels.
Erm he told us nothing of any real meaning in relation to the point he responded to.
I don’t know, below sounds like a near direct answer to the post he was responding too.
Saying that there has been steady growth is pretty meaningless, a 1% increase a month is steady growth, so is a 25% increase a month, there is quite a difference between the two.
Furthermore growth in itself doesn’t mean much without context, people are complaining about the playerbase in relation to matchmaking, so lets say PvP has grown on average 3% a month, the question is how many of those players are playing hotjoin / rank farm servers, and how many are playing ranked/unranked, it could be that the “queued” PvP is shrinking, but overall PvP has grown because of hotjoin, we don’t know from the answer given.
And the second part about the influx of new F2P players in the last three weeks is not relevant at all, whatever the systems effect on the playerbase has been, good, bad or indifferent, those new players were not subject to that and are here because of F2P nothing else.
I find this interesting that Arena net believe that just because the game went free: pvp is “successful”. What is even interesting is: Arena net refuse to recognize the problems and will continue to repeat the same mistakes when Guild Wars 2 release.
Isn’t it obvious, Arena net is using the same deceptive practice that made Guild Wars 2 pvp successful when it was released? in the beginning?
Isn’t it obvious, it is exactly the same same deceptive practice they are using to the new players to make them believe that pvp is competitive, challenging and fun ?
Couple days ago, my guild invited me to do pvp with them. As usual we were prepared and serious about it. When we got to the Arena: we were wining by huge numbers. It was so bad that: after about 30+ minutes, we all decided to leave for wvw.
Before we left: we were criticized and insulted “for not playing fair” and “cheating”.
Were they telling the truth? Obviously! Yes! All of us were memsers.
Are mesmers a challenging, competitive, risk-reward and fun profession to play against? No!
So there.
So you want to know what the deceptive practice are?
“Competitive play in Guild Wars 2 is easy to learn, but offers challenges for new players and hardcore PvPers alike”
That is not true at all. They already complaining in the forums and will increase their complains: like how we were once before.
“New and casual players can easily hop into an ongoing match and start playing right away without worrying about setting up a team ".
There are already evidence of 4 ele’s in a team wining top matches, 4 Ele’s wining ESL
That is also not true at all.
" All characters are on even footing in both kinds of competitive play ".
Oh really?
“Players use their regular characters, but everyone is adjusted to the maximum so that all characters are roughly equal in power " .
Cele, Burn, D/D Ele, Everything Mesmer, Everything Thief etc.. ?
" Roughly Equal in Power "
So we are “roughly equal in power” like cele-ele and d/d ele?
Is this a joke?
My Favorite Part, “We’ve designed a PvP experience that’s fun and easy for all players, regardless of experience” .
We all not new players already know that is a lie.
https://www.guildwars2.com/en/the-game/competitive-play/
Conclusion:
This is what i see is happening (opinion)
1. Arena net only cares about Numbers: Profit,
2. Arena net is using the same deceptive practice they had used in the past to keep new numbers growing.
Tactics
A. Making the game “free to play”
B. Intentionally creating un-balance specialization to keep their numbers growing.
*More Un-Balance= More increase of ’White Knights"= Increase of numbers.
C. Leagues, Raids = Repeat A-C
C. New Expansion= Refresh Profit increase
All of this will happen while Nothing will be done to make the game competitive and fun .
All of this cycle will continue and repeat with the same empty words, with the same false promise, with the same false hope as long it increases their profits
The new players will replace newer players and newer players will replace newest players and so on.
We will leave the game when we embrace the truth, the next players will replace us, they will leave when they embrace the truth, they will replace by newer players and so on.
It’s all about increasing their profits folks, It’s all about keeping their profits refresh
We are only being used as commodity to their practices
It was never about their players-us.
It Was Never Was, It Will Never Be
What a tragedy!

Couple weeks ago, a Perma-Stealth Thief had prevented us- about 10 players from taking a supply camp. Some of us thought it was a hacker until the thief was killed by another Perma Stealth Thief from our party. The Thief who killed the enemy thief said that the thief was a trapper thief.
It only took about 3 minutes for the trapper thief to kill 9 of us until it was finally killed by our trapper thief.
Slowmelt: i agree with you 100%. So that is why i no longer blame thief players for being toxic to the game. I don’t even blame thief players for being responsible for the game losing sales and players leaving anymore.
Thief players are not the one who design or program themselves with very limited builds. It is Arena net who is responsible for refusing to give them diversity builds with skill play
Last, again, the only solution to make Thief profession be diverse and be skill-play is for the game to have a New Team with a New Leader who believe in challenge, risk-reward, hard-work, effort, skill-play and fun for their professions.
That is all.
I have done it all as a wvwvwer: zergling, scout, commander, havocker, ganker, escorter, naked RP, naked drunken RP. And I especially love being a solo or duo roamer the best. So much action your ears bleed karma and rank points. Choose to kill or run…fight to the death or live to fight another day.

Ra: Pewpewpewpewpew or Condi Stealth Trapper

Ele: D/D Live Forever, with rare appearances by D/F or S/F Stone Cold Stunners
Mes: StealthBetterThanThief GS Shatter and/or ConfusionHellWhat have you seen as solo roamers?
All the above.
Yeah, PvE in this game is dull, boring and dry. PvP (SPvP !) is the ONLY thing i’ve played after leveling and completing the dungeons from release. To this day, I simply cannot play the PvE at all, its so easy!?!
Early lvling is so dry and boring i actually lost contact with some friends i tried to bring to GW2, they made fun of me for playing such a stupid game that was so dull and dry. But, whatever… I play games ranging from league of legends > wow > path of exile, so i dont need to play 1 game all the time.
But that is exactly Anets problem with Guildwars2, they either don’t want people to play everyday for 3 years or they just dont care what you’re doing as long as you’ve bought into their game.
Anet hasn’t grasped the concept of happy players = happy game, Players are asking for more pvp induced game patches, harder PvE / world content / dungeons. I for one hate the fact that Anet takes 3 months to release a single balance patch for PvP!
Coming from games like LoL / WoW, they release balance patches every 2 weeks and hotfix anything inbetween! So if that makes me inpatient then its my fault, but I can’t sit around a year while so many things remain stupidly broken in PvP.
Best of luck to you, I have faith in HoT and you should to.
“The Only Real Mistake Is The One From Which We Learn Nothing "

There are a lot of players that spend a fair amount of time in WvW that are ‘taking a break’ until HoT release. I would think you can expect to see population levels on all servers go up a noticable amount when HoT comes out, however don’t expect this to ‘fix’ all the problems in fact it might make more (since some server may gain more or less players creating population in-balances)
The fact that ANET will not have time to do any WvW focused fixes until well after HoT’s launch and the fact that HoT itself will seriously mess with the norm of WvW populations for a while does have me a bit worried. I get the feeling ANET was hoping to capitalize on former players coming back to check out HoT and F2P accounts enough that we would not notice some of the more major issues with the new Desert Borderland map and population imbalances in general. It is unfortunate that they could not take the time to set up a better system 6 months ago before things got into such a sad state as they are now but I guess we are stuck waiting for a fix.
I just don’t want to see people forget where the real problems are or get too distracted by shiny new class specializations imbalances. There are a lot of ways WvW needs support and it helps that ANET listed them is pretty much the correct order on their “issues” post but six more months from now are we all still going to be able to agree on anything? I hope so, WvW population imbalance dramatically affects everything else that is goofy in WvW as well and what kind of fixes ANET entertains should be greatly affected by the opinions we all express over the next several months. How much protection of community will we be willing to trade for entertainment to last us another three years? Is it too late for many of the elements that drew a lot of us to WvW in the first place?
" Your Customers Will Never Forget How You Made Them Feel "
" Your Customers Will Never Forget How You Treat Them
" How You Treat Your Customers Will Determine Your Destiny "
In result:
It is too late, there will not a willing to trade, there will not be another 3 years.
And for our expressions of opinions: see Trash Bin. Last: merging servers or not merging servers is not the solution.
You will see.

" For a game to become an e-Sport, it needs to be competitive. This doesn’t just mean that players can take on one another, but that it needs to be set up in such a way that two groups can battle one another in as fair of an environment as possible (fair being everyone having equal opportunity for setups, classes, gear, etc " .)
The key words are Fair,Competitive and Equal Opportunity .
With:
Instant Kill, Anti-Roaming, Anti-Fairness, Anti-Competitive, Anti-Challenge, Anti-Risk+Reward, Anti-Fun, Ant-No Skill-Play, No Learning Curve, No Punishment for making mistakes, No Hard-Work, No Effort, Press#1= Game Over, Power-Creep, Condition Creep, Perma Stealth, 1 Traits/Build= Everything, No-;Low Cool-Down to Powerful Skills, with Stealth= Advantage
Last..
" Being that a lot of the competitive players had lost interest at that point, or weren’t aware of all the changes, yet again, nothing happened "
That is correct!
Same empty words, No serious action to make Guild Wars 2 challenging, Fun, Competitive, with Risk-Reward, Hard-Work, Hard-Effort, with Skill-Play etc…
Do you blame players for refusing to be deceived and to be lied anymore by leaving?

“Restriction to EOTM only will entice them to purchase the game more if they like WvW and want to help their server ‘win’”.
How can you entice new players to purchase the game by treating them this way? How can new players if you want them to help their server win when you treat them this way?
Putting them inside isolated a cage while you are free in a open area? How would you feel if they were the ones doing that to you?

I want to share this beautiful essay with the community which answer the OP question and ’addresses our concerns. Enjoy
(The essay is too long, so i will quote first couple paragraphs)
" Winning isn’t everything "
“It is quite simple: When you play a game, you want to win. Winning makes you happy, losing makes you unhappy. If this seems self-evident, there is nonetheless a contradictory viewpoint, according to which games should be “neither too easy nor too hard”, implying that players also want not to win, at least part of the time. This is a contradiction I will try resolve in what follows”.
The question is:
Question 1: “What is the role of failure in video games?”
“The simplest theory of failure states that failing serves as a contrast to winning, that failure thereby makes winning all the more enjoyable. There is, however, much more to failure. The study of players discussed in this essay indicates that failure serves the deeper function of making players readjust their perception of a game. In effect, failure adds content by making the player see new nuances in a game. The study shows that players have quite elaborate theories of failure as a source of enjoyment in games”.
“Even so, given the negative connotations of failing, would a game be better received if players did not feel responsible for failing, but rather blamed failures on the game or on bad luck?”
“This is the second question”:
Question 2: “Do players prefer games where they do not feel responsible for failing?”
“This study strongly indicates that this is not the case. Players clearly prefer feeling responsible for failing in a game; not feeling responsible is tied to a negative perception of a game”
“In effect, this sharpens the contradiction between players as wanting to win and players wanting games to be challenging: failing, and feeling responsible for failing, makes players enjoy a game more, not less. Closer examination reveals that the apparent contradiction originates from two separate perspectives on games: a goal-oriented perspective wherein players want to win, and an aesthetic perspective wherein players prefer games with the right amount of challenge and variation”.
“Nevertheless, these two perspectives still present opposing considerations – the goal-oriented perspective suggests that games should be as easy as possible; the aesthetic perspective suggests that games should not be too easy”.
“To examine this, I will look take a closer look at the role of failure and punishment. I am writing here about single-player games.”
-Quotes before last few paragraphs-
" Conclusions: The Contradictory Desires of Players "
" initially discussed a contradiction between the observation that players want to win and the observation that players prefer games where they lose some, then win some. This leaves us with several opposing considerations indicating that games should be both easier and harder than they are":
1-The player does not want to fail (makes player sad, feels inadequate).
2-Failing makes the player reconsider his/her strategy (which makes the game more interesting).
3-Winning provides gratification.
4-Winning without failing leads to dissatisfaction.
“Points 1 and 3 suggest that games should be very easy, whereas points 2 and 4 suggest that games should not be too easy. The actual relationship of game design and game playing is probably not as antagonistic as this seems. A more productive view is that games derive their interest from the interaction between these different considerations, and that the apparent contradiction comes from the fact that games can be viewed from two distinct frames of reference (see Figure 10)”.
“Playing a game entails (1) a goal-orientation as part of the activity, but a player also has (2) an outside view of the game that entails an aesthetic evaluation of game challenge. This is the source of the contradiction discussed in the introduction, between players wanting to win, and players wanting not just to win”.

Hi Anet,
Please limit free accounts to EOTM. It is one of the easiest ways to control them trolling WvW. Otherwise you will need to restrict supply carry, commander tags, upgrades etc for them in WvW which will be more complicated. Restriction to EOTM only will entice them to purchase the game more if they like WvW and want to help their server ‘win’. Level to 60 before WvW is not a restriction at all for serious trollers.
Restrictions listed here : https://help.guildwars2.com/entries/95982157
Free accounts need to be limited to EOTM only.Has anyone at Anet really given any thought to WvW?

My predition: Elementalists, Thief and Mesmers will intentionally never be balanced. As long this new Arena net team who only care about themselves: not their players is in charge of the game. Also, as long this new Arena net: ‘play the way we want’ is there, nothing serious will happen to balancing the professions including Elementalists.
That is all.
Sorry, but this is incorrect as well. Thieves aren’t bad, balance wise. Sure, you pretty much always want one on your team…but never more than one. Mesmers, aside from being bugged and irritating to fight against, honestly aren’t that overwhelming. Elementalists are difficult to balance, but they do seem swing between the top and bottom tiers. If Arena Net were unfairly favoring them as a policy, that would not be that case. As an aside, the only serious long-term mistake that they made with this game (in my opinion) was making pets the ranger mechanic, thereby crippling their skill ceiling and making them literally impossible to balance. This was pretty obvious in the recent WTS, where ranger was the only profession which wasn’t used.
As for this website…why should I take your word for it that some relevant website actually said that, and why should I trust this web site without knowing what it is? If you want to bring an outside source in here, by all means do so. Just make sure that you actually post its name and web address, rather than expecting us to take your word on its validity. I apologize for my bluntness, but you don’t exactly have a track record of honesty on these forums.
Edit: by the way, if those are actual quotations from a web site, it’s obvious that that web site’s authors are not native English speakers. Did you try to translate it, or was it already translated for you?

I was referring to your little foray into the ranger forums, where you claimed that 1500 range was OP. Your ‘evidence’ was 5 minutes of zerging in WvW, and you wouldn’t listen to any of the dozens of ranger (and non-ranger) players who were telling you that it’s worthless in sPvP, dungeons, fractals, and PvE, and less effective than staff ele and well necro in WvW. You apparently believed that 1500 range gave an insurmountable advantage in a 1v1, despite the innumerable ways to deal with it and despite the fact that a ranger had to forego just about all defense and utility in order to make effective use of it in the first place.
I understand.
You realize i haven’t say anything in the ranger forum? I did better investigation and with result: i saw that ranger was ignored for a very long time by Arena net. One advantage that make ranger OP is 1500 range with almost instant rapid fire.. I now understand and realize 1500 range is what make them unique
I even went back and spend some time reading suggestion in the forum including yours. I even experience them with my level ranger. In result, i I learn and improve. I do stay away from the ranger forum unless for updates and suggestions with builds.
Thank You! for your effort also
( Again, it does not mean rangers are not Op

To be fair most of the other elite spec are major power creep for the classes all though they lose more then just a line from the old classes where tempest loses nothing from ele other then just one line. There less added to tempest becuse there simply less lost from going from ele to tempest.
Exactly +1
“I don’t know if it can be fixed, but to me it’s more of an issue than tier stagnation. I don’t understand why people care so much when the game mode itself isn’t even good”.
One way is to bring a new team who work with players to fix the game. Arena net continue to refuse to work with their players to fix this game, that is why the game is in this terrible state.
We players already did our part since 3 years ago. All we are doing is repeating the same thing over and over again.
It is not that people do not care about the game mode: it is that they want the game mode to work: be challenging, fun, with hard-effort, with hard-work, with risk-reward, with skill-play and Fun but Arena net refuse to.
“I think the problem is that the game mode doesn’t create engaging or meaningful fights organically. Most professions are too good at escaping small fights, and zergs usually don’t actually fight, they just cap stuff. A victory is meaningless anyway because people just insta-respawn and go back to capping objectives”.
I agree. If Arena net worked with the players: this wouldn’t never happen. It is obvious i like challenge including you and some other players. I play mmo’s for a very long time so i have good experience with challenge, fun, risk-reward with hard-work.
When i first play this game: i was very shocked by so many things. Like some things you mention including a tank profession:warrior=wear heavy gears running so fast, i though was a hacker. And than Stealth who can stealth so much: not even having any counter skills.. i thought was even a hacker. So i reported them as being hackers, exploiters until someone in the game including in the forum told me that they were not.
They told me Arena net design them be behave this way. Since that day, including instant kill by thieves, i never took this game serious and stopped wasting a lot of my time. I even haven’t spend any money since than, why would i spend my money with a game company who think un-challenge, un-skill, un-learning from mistakes, un-fun, no-risk, no-hard work, no effort, pressing 1 button= Game Over, giving powerful damage skill/s no-cool down/ low cool-down, giving high mobilities that do not make sense, power-creep and condition creep is ok?
So i tried making post about this to try to see if Arena net will take this serious. I even made post about why Arena net design warrior professionals to run away from risks and from challenge. I even mention that warriors are soldiers and that they should be a sacrificing profession: the last to die: like Spartans warriors.
Since i last posted, Arena net still continue to ignore my suggestions include many other players suggestion about this case.
(what is sad: some players still believe that Arena net will bring mounts in the game. The truth is: because of the high mobilities that does not make sense= No Mounts)
So there.
By the way, i want to share this with you. “Play the way you want” is a Lie. It is Play the way Arena net want, is what been happening 3 years ago and will continue in the next expansion.. So as long this is the case, no need to take anything serious including spending quality time and effort including taking other measurement until take serious action.

I am Surprised many people are believing this
-What do you see as the challenges when it comes to the MMO free-to-play space as we see more and more games coming out and consumers having more choices?-
“From a dev point of view, you have the irony of having a subscription-based model in MMOs that’s a very polarizing area financially for people playing. Research indicates that the average gamer can’t really support more than two subscriptions. I know for me, I don’t really want to keep more than one subscription going. That makes things massively competitive and really polarizes not just people’s attention, but also where they flock towards. The game that has the most people flocking towards it has the biggest income, and therefore it becomes a self-fulfilling cycle”.
“The interesting and ironic thing about it is when you do more free-to-play games it becomes more competitive, which is even better for the consumer. But it means you have a lot more people having a lot more choices and a lot more eyes on your product. You get a lot more feedback from gamers, and so I do see it shifting more towards that. I don’t think it’s going to make it any easier for developers. I think it’s going to create new problems”.
-ArenaNet on Guild Wars 2 and the future-
“ArenaNet’s global brand director Chris Lye remains tight-lipped about the future of Guild Wars 2 on console, but opens up about the state of free-to-play in the industry, and the studio’s plan to keep Guild Wars running after the sequel hits stores”.
Q: What are your feelings on WoW’s new First-20-Levels-Free scheme? Will the free-to-play trend result in all MMOs having a free element in the future?
CL: “Guild Wars has always been a champion of free online play and we think you’ll definitely see more experiments in free elements in the MMO space”.
Will free to play games always require microtransactions to offset the lack of subscriptions?
CL: “This certainly appears to be the main alternative to the subscription-based model – but even then there’s a huge variety in the types of items provided. I think you’re likely to see a lot of interesting experimentation in the area of microtransactions. By the same token I’ve no doubt there are other business models for MMOs that have yet to arise”.

(edited by DarkSyze.8627)
That’s not even the problem. There’s a reason why classes with so much “sustain + mobility/escapes + tankiness” gets stacked.
Do you not see the pattern? The real problem is this: not every build is equally balanced based on EFFORT. If things were balanced based on EFFORT then class stacking would be fine. If a class has SO MANY things going for it then class stacking will HAPPEN.
If d/d ele was “legit” complex people wouldn’t be stacking them. You can argue the same for Rampage Warrior, sure. But at least that has SIMPLE COUNTERPLAY.
THAT’s the real problem, it’s because certain classes DO NOT have simple counterplay. D/d ele you have to count how many dodges before bursting? And how many defensive cool downs do you deal with after you land your big hits? This is why d/d ele gets stacked: they are stacked in design AND it takes no skill to play because of being stacked in design.
TL;DR Class stacking wouldn’t be a problem if these “complex classes” didn’t have such anti-fun mechanics.
If certain classes didn’t have both mobility tankiness damage and sustain, EVERYTHING would be fine. That being said, I don’t really agree on GS Warrior having an evade either (not that I dont know how to deal with it but I don’t agree with mechanics like it). Those “stacked” mechanics themselves is the real culprit.

Fun has everything to do with it. This is a game. Not a job. Or a duty. A game. And people play games for fun.
.If you don’t find it fun, here’s a novel idea: Don’t do it!
But don’t complain if your objectives flip either.
It really is your choice.
Here, I’ll give you a real-world analogy: If you don’t lock your car when you leave it, you are at risk of having it stolen. Is locking your car any fun? Well, not really. But do you value your car, is it important for you and your overall “fun”… well yes.
What you’re doing is complaining about having to lock your car. Thieves should just be nice and not touch if because it’s too much of a hassle to lock it.
The correct analogy would be having to sit in your car despite having locked it, then putting on a blindfold and ear muffs, and if a thief breaks in he brings 20 friends who persuade you to hand over the keys. The tower or keep has gates, they are locked.
What’s being complained about is despite locking the car and spending time looking around the area, the thief was in the car all along and you couldn’t find them, or if you did you didn’t bring enough people to remove him, and he stole your car.
Having to use 10-15 people to sweep isn’t fun, and in less populated servers that’s three times the amount of people you have anyway.
After a while, rather than spend 20 minutes not finding the stealthed mesmer out of your hour of gaming time, people would rather do something they find even vaguelt rewarding, like, for instance, fighting other players.
Not everyone plays wvw 24/7 and thinks nothing of hunting mesmers for 2-3 hours at a time .
I will quote what a game director from a huge mmo game i play say about Arena net: stealth-risk—reward.
Game Director, " It Is Unbelievable How Broken-Poorly Design Company- Arena Net Stealth Concept Is. Basically A Stealth Player Can Avoid All Detections and All Risks And Yet Somehow… Still Be Rewarded Just As A Non Stealth Player Who Risks Everything "

I’ll believe it when I see it.
Today, Arena net took some serious actions against The AC Exploit: they should be appreciated for the effort and hard-work. Any serious actions taken with effort and hard-work should be appreciated
Any serious actions against: High Bursts, high mobility, Reward-No Risk, Zero-Low Cool-down on Powerful Skills, Instant Kill, Power Creep, Condition Creep, d/d elementalist, Thief, mesmer, guardian, burning conditions and stealth professions hiding in keep after players sacrificed their time in working hard with great effort to take the keep?
(edited by DarkSyze.8627)
Not able to check patch in the moment: did Arena net fixed conditions: Burning ?
Wouldn’t it make sense if the sword finisher was facing Down: as a sign of Defeat? Another: having the defeater striking the sword downward on the body together with the sword animation? Since there is a dragon: can have the dragon going down into the dead body?
You are striking down on the ground: how is the sword animation finisher striking up? It do not make sense at all.
Here is a example of what i mean:
(edited by DarkSyze.8627)
I want to rant but i will keep it "civilize’. The major obvious problem in this game is how all your hard-work, hard-effort, time and your sacrifices are worthless: they mean nothing at all. Seriously, can we have those 2 co-founders from GW1 back including the original ArenaNet?
It is not even annoying, it is Pathetic and Ridiculous how this even considered “balance”, “challenging” or “fun”?
Example; you take 1 hour of your precious time with your group or party and worked hard to take a keep, than suddenly it is taken away from you just because a game company says so?
I do not know how some people think being robbed for your hard-work and hard-effort is a good thing? That is correct! You are being Robbed for your time and effot! How can some people believe this is a good thing?
So you believe and agree that it is a good thing to have your paycheck and your hours take away from you, just because the company says it ok? No! it is a good thing because obviously! players who sacrificed their time, hard-effort and hard-work is good thing.
Not to insult:
Well if that is the case: this game is for you, obviously. You will defend Arena net practice until your values, principles and morals mean nothing anymore.
Last: I am not here to try to change anyone. I am here to defend value, principles and worth. Your Value, Principle and Worth Should Be Rewarded, Not To Be Taken Robbed From You Just Because a company Says So
" Never Give Someone The Opportunity To Waste Your Time Twice "
" It Is Your Time. Value It. Or Someone Else Will "
" Don’t Ask Someone Why. Why You Keep Letting Them? "
Until your precious time, efforts, hard worsk and your sacrifices are valued and worthy… I suggest: Don’t Waste Them
That is all.

I was a die hard Staff supporter and I still am. If rifle was release, I would have been kittened for real, but that’s it. I could understand if you didn’t like the weapon, and elite traits sucked, and cores trait are reduced to ash. Completely understand.
BUT THIS IS NOT THE CASE. it’s just a new weapon.
All of you switching chars cause Thief is getting Staff;
All of you who will stop playing because Thief is getting Staff;GOOD RIDDANCE, I tell you. For it shows how questionable your loyalty to the profession was in the first place. You didn’t even see traits or weapon skills but act like you are agonizing in injustice and oozing of some imaginary unsatisfactory performance by Anet.
GOOD RIDDANCE and see you in WvW on your mesmers.
It will be a delight Finishing you turncloaks with my Daredevil.
I wasn’t a fan of either rifle or staff, while I’m completly indifferent at the decision, your whole text kind of sweats hypocrisy. Both staff and rifle believers were in the same boat in terms of questionability towards the Thief class. If the outcome was Rifle, one of its believers would write the exact same thing with a few keywords changed.
I beg to differ. The hypocrit is the one who stops playing Thief because of an announced weapon to which nobody has any data on, wether weapon skill or trait quality… It is hypocrit and unfounded. As if playing with staff is the only option in this game. If we were indeed in the same boat, why are these people suddenly quitting?
I guess you’ll never know how I would react if Rifle was revealed instead, but it’s safe to say that whoever is about to quit a game or a character based on a look or/and without any information on weapon skills and trait, is being blatantly unreasonable and immature. Not to mention that Anet very surely took their opinions into account when building the character, and they are just going to leave like that? Hypocrisy.
Interesting… Evidence?
It’s me or that weapon just looks like a Spear?
You may be correct.
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Thief
“There are seven possible weapon sets for this profession and two weapon sets while underwater. The thief can switch between two weapon sets in combat”.
Aquatic:
Harpoon gun — Bombard enemy with ranged attacks – good for kiting with several attacks that cause movement impairment.
Spear — Rapid melee counterattacks spiced up with the usual thief tricks
Or
It may be club? staff?
http://www.tradeindetectives.com/blog/thief-4-weapons-and-gadgets-420/
In Thief 4 game: Thief use club, bow, arrows and claw.
“This club like weapon can be used to knock out enemies, it’s a reusable weapon and so it never loses power and cannot be dropped or lost. The Blackjack is your ideal weapon for close range combat, sneak up behind your target and with a whack on the head with this Blackjack means it’s nap time for any enemy guard”.
In the end: it may be Spear or Club/Staff?

Everything in GW1 felt right, and in GW2 everything feels wrong, Conquest gets old really fast is so boring, u can’t make exciting builds like in GW1, the traits system is a joke. People in GW1 were always evolving, creating new builds new strategies. You can’t do that in GW2, the game modes in GW1 were amazing GvG,HA, TA all of these game modes were amazing. I’m so disappointed, heart broken.

This post hits home. It feels like GW had the recipe for success and a few of the aforementioned items played a big part in it. I do not understand why GW didn’t keep these elements intact and build on them with GW2. If I had to compare GW2 to an outside example, I would bring in “New Coke.” Coca-cola tried to introduce a new recipe and it failed miserably. Why? Because people enjoyed Coke the way it was. Same with GW. It feels like GW deviated too far from what made it amazing to begin with, making it unappealing to its core GW1 audience. Almost all of my GW1 PvP friends do not play GW2 for this very reason.
+1
You do know that this is not the same Arena net team from GW2? What is even worse: 2 of the original creators/ co-founders: Patrick Wyatt and Jeff Strain who believed in challenge, fun, risk-reward, trying different strategies, trying different ideas, creativity and Fun, left the game. From the conclusion of my research: They made Fun their #1 priority . It was so much fun: players made many dance videos in youtube and posted many videos of having fun in GW1.
Last: They Even Made All Their Game Modes: Fun, Challenging, Creative, Using Skill Play, With Hard-Work-In The End…Be Reward For It
Ok, Read this post i posted:
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/pvp/Why-Balance-Problems-Won-t-End/first#post5407936
“There was couple question asked for the 2 original GW1 creators and 1 of the question someone asked was, “What was the main reason you left GW2”? Here is the answer: “We felt all the work we put in GW2 suddenly didn’t matter anymore, yea… (other creator), it was not suppose to end this way. We wanted GW2 to be a re-incarnation of GW2, an improvement of course having just about everything from GW1 of course… having our faithful players in mind..yes our faithful players who never gave up on us.”) Being another chapter to GW1 legacy (smile)” (i hide source)"
“Here is quote from a GW1 player, ““What if you had 5 players from GW1 with all the GW1 skills, attriubtes, health, armor and energy systems go up against 5 Players from GW2 with its respective skill system, no balancing as in armour or HP, just one game vs the other as is. Who would win?”
“With the sheer amount of DPS and armour youd think the GW2 players would win, they could one shot almost any char in GW1 but… GW1 has 100x times more skills, more creativity and clever ways to adapt to things, like kitten monk”.

Guild Wars 2 have been Doomed long time ago: especially for WvW . Did you forget this? Or want to continue be in denial that it is not true? Or continue to find excuse to justify that it is not true? How much more evidence do you need that Arena net already give up on this game?
Here is the thread from the President of Arena net: telling you ’face-to-face- that WvW do not exist.
“Who Plays WvW”, Mike O’Brien
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/wuv/Who-plays-WvW-only/firstSome players provide good reasons why this game is soon dead or already dead.
I hope soon the rest of you players will wake up before you regret wasting your precious time believing in words without actions, instead of seeing results improve..it only gets worse.
" Sometimes….It’s hard to accept the truth when the lies was exactly what you wanted to hear "
" Words may lie but Actions Will Always Tell the Truth "
Doesn’t that quote say not many do WvW ONLY? As in, most also do some PvE or PvP.
Saying that most players do more than WvW only is not the same as someone saying WvW does not exist. That’s completely ridiculous.
It is not ridiculous. If you want to lesson the reality and the truth, than go ahead. Let me give you example:
If someone tell you that they do not care about you. How would you translate that? How about if i translate that and tell you, what the person is saying is that he/she does not love you? Would you say that Not Care is not the same as saying Not Loving You?
Doesn’t Care come from Love?
Doesn’t the person action show enough of not caring for you: not loving you?
It shouldn’t take Arena net President to tell us, who plays wvw. The evidence is everywhere of wvw being abandoned, neglect. What is even sadder: Arena net treat their players the same way.
Did you forget about the Golem Event? How about getting no answer from Arena net for the entire 1 week of the Golem Event? How about if i tell you again that WvW doesn’t exist to Arena net? Where is Arena net Care, Attention and Love for players who report problems during that whole week? Yes that is correct! Arena net treated these players the exact same way as wvw for 1 full week. It is nothing compare to 2 years+ treatment to all wvw players. How about if i tell you, the more time these players report the problems, the more it got worse? Just like in wvw: the more the wvw players report problems and concerns.. it only gotten worse? And No! Arena net does not need to say the word, their actions did it for them.

Guild Wars 2 have been Doomed long time ago: especially for WvW . Did you forget this? Or want to continue be in denial that it is not true? Or continue to find excuse to justify that it is not true? How much more evidence do you need that Arena net already give up on this game?
Here is the thread from the President of Arena net: telling you ’face-to-face- that WvW do not exist..

Some players provide good reasons why this game is soon dead or already dead.
I hope soon the rest of you players will wake up before you regret wasting your precious time believing in words without actions, instead of seeing results improve..it only gets worse.

Arena net is not ever trying: how can they try harder? Each time they try, it only gets worse, so how is that trying harder? Shouldn’t trying harder make improvement? So where are the improvements? Shouldn’t trying harder take serious actions against problems? So where are the serious actions taken? Shouldn’t trying harder learn from mistakes? Why are the same mistakes being repeated over? Shouldn’t trying harder try to make things work? So what is the point in trying harder to make things work if they’re are not even trying?

+1 Supreme, OP
Also i want to share something interesting.
Skill balance > GW1.. Obviously
(Remember: ArenaNet from GW1 are Not Arena net in GW2)
http://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/Skill_balance
“A skill balance is a game update that is aimed at changing certain skills in Guild Wars to make them weaker/stronger as the Designers see fit to maintain a balance between all builds”.
" The main concept behind skill balancing is to prevent any set of skills in a build (for example, a healing monk) from becoming overpowered to the point where no other build is used to achieve the purpose of that build, simply because it would not make sense. In PvP, the player community will always go for the most efficient build".
" As such if one build is proven to be a lot more effective than all other builds, everyone in the community will simply run that build and ignore all others, removing diversity from the game as well as a lot of excitement. In PvE, if a build is far more effective at killing monsters than any other build, everyone will simply play that build to farm those monsters and, again, variety (examples) will be taken out of the game as well as a possible inflation in the game’s economy".
“An example of this concept is the nerf to the Ritual Lord build for ritualist. The build was so effective at buffing up the defenses of a team that almost no one played anything but Ritual Lord in the ritualist profession especially in PvP where it made little sense since no other build could benefit a team as much as a Ritual Lord could”.
“Another important concept is to prevent skills from falling out of practical use. If there’s a large number of skills in a profession which not many players are trying to use in PvP or PvE, the developers will try and strengthen that line of skills to give it more life and usage”.
“An example of this concept would be the buff to the Channeling Magic line for the ritualist profession. The line was nearly abandoned in both PvP and PvE partially because of the dominance of Ritual Lords mentioned above, and partially because it could not mete out as much damage as elementalists and necromancers. It’s damage has been increased as well as its ability to keep dishing out damage”.

Thieves playing victim role?
Playing the Victim: Avoiding Responsibility While Getting Sympathy- “Most of the time, when the manipulator casts themselves as a victim, they don’t really see themselves as victimized, they just really want the other party to see them as wounded, injured, or suffering in some way in order to elicit sympathy, cloud the picture about just who is the victimizer and who is the victim, and otherwise impression-manage the real victim”.
“That’s why playing the victim role is such an effective tactic. Especially when they’re confronted about their own malicious behavior, disordered characters will try and turn the tables by trying to get you to see them as the injured party”.
For 2 years: thief always viable: if not, show me their balance sheet and Arena net actions? I can show you more of “thief worse than” evidences if you want? Yes! evidence with actions not with words.

Thieves have pushed out so many builds that the only builds left are those that the thieves can handle easily. They created their own problem.
1. conquest favors bruiers
2. thief players totally created this game, rrrrright!
I do not see the words, “thief players totally created this game”? Where do you see it?

" Theif’s the most OP class "
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/professions/thief/Theif-s-the-most-OP-class/first#post899731
“So, I keep reading through these forums and i hear over and over again the problem with theifs being able to infinite stealth is based on the “culling” but this is just a way of brushing off the topic that they are the most OP class in the game, and the profession make it less fun for other professions to play the game”.
" Thiefs are still OP "

“With thief its just ridiculous.
I don’t think any profession should have the ability to kill any other profession in the game in just a few seconds…..
Its just not balanced".

Congratulations!
Congratulations?
7.3 million(3.5 million+3.8 million+January 2015-Present)= 5 million (2015)?. Arena net lost 2.3 million+. Where is the sale figure from January 2015 to present? This is not congratulation at all!
“Guild Wars 2 Sales More Than Double Thanks To Chinese Launch: Guild Wars 2 has over 3.8 million Chinese players according to a census uploaded to Reddit, all accrued in just two months after launch”.
“This means ArenaNet’s MMO has more than doubled its global playerbase since launching in the new territory. The last update we got on Western sales was back in August 2013, when the figure stood at 3.5 million. This figure is likely to have risen since then but, even if we assume it hasn’t, this means global sales of Guild Wars 2 should now be well past the 7 million mark.”
I missed it- see: “Guild Wars 2 sells 3.8 million in China in 2 months time, tops 7 million worldwide in less than 2 years”.

There was couple question asked for the 2 original GW1 creators and 1 of the question someone asked was, “What was the main reason you left GW2”? Here is the answer: “We felt all the work we put in GW2 suddenly didn’t matter anymore, yea… (other creator), it was not suppose to end this way. We wanted GW2 to be a re-incarnation of GW2, an improvement of course having just about everything from GW1 of course… having our faithful players in mind..yes our faithful players who never gave up on us.”) Being another chapter to GW1 legacy (smile)" (i hide source)
You see.. GW2 was supposed to carry GW1 with it and make it much better.
Here is quote from a GW1 player, ““What if you had 5 players from GW1 with all the GW1 skills, attriubtes, health, armor and energy systems go up against 5 Players from GW2 with its respective skill system, no balancing as in armour or HP, just one game vs the other as is. Who would win?”
“With the sheer amount of DPS and armour youd think the GW2 players would win, they could one shot almost any char in GW1 but… GW1 has 100x times more skills, more creativity and clever ways to adapt to things, like kitten monk”.
Ok! i will stop now..
I never play GW1 but i bought the collect for a good price. I want to feel what they feel including some of you GW1 players. I want to experience the fun, challenge, skill-play, the creativity etc.. of what Guild Wars 2 was suppose to be. I want to feel the action. In the end: Action makes things happen, " words without actions are only for amusement and eventually disappears "
I am just tired of the amusement
Hope the 2 original GW1 creators come back in GW3 and make Guild Wars 2 be what is supposed to be.
Until than,
Balance is dead, Original vision of GW1 left the game long time ago. They care about Guild Wars 1 ’legacy and their faithful players. Stealth, high mobility, high damage, hight burst, 1 trait give everything,1 build give everything, immunity to everything, invulnerability to everything, instant kill, spam 1 = game over, reward without-risk/punishment for making mistakes, skill-less play, instant access to high skill at anytime, instant to low cool-down to powerful skill , having unlimited access for not doing nothing at all? ? Seriously!! These would never happen with the 2 original creators of GW1, Never
Last:
I only wanted to share this with you players because i feel GW 2 deserve the best+ but it is very too late for that.
Good Luck with GW2 “Balance”

If there is something i have gotten wrong or missed please let me know and lets help them make a great game.
The Holy Trinity is what you missed.
By the way: Arena net was not the first company who did not use it in their game. I do not know why some people believe Arena net "came out with this idea? Why not do research before supporting something just because?
Continue: The Holy Trinity have less chance to not balance compare with non-Holy Trinity< depend if the company center it around The Holy Trinity.
What does that mean?
Guild Wars 2 plan was to center non-Holy Trinity around Holy Trinity but something went wrong: the 2 original GW1 creators left. Yes that is correct
Why they left? ! they believed in the non-Holy Trinity centering around The Holy Trinity and had no choice but to leave because last creator no longer wanted to center it.
What does it mean non-Holy Trinity centering around Holy Trinity?
The Holy Trinity idea required hard-work, hard-effort, risk-reward, concequences for making mistakes, fun, skill-play, learning from mistakes and making sacrifice for the better. The Holy Trinity model is: tank. healer and damage dealer.
The original Non-Holy Trinity idea required the same hard-work, hard-effort, risk-reward etc…. as the Holy Trinity but instead would combine all three Holy Trinity in 1.
I do not see a problem right? Isn’t that’s what Arena net non-Holy Trinity requirements? Elelementalist, Thief, Warrior, Guardian and Memser > combination of all 3 Holy Trinity roles in 1?
Remember i said ‘original non-Holy Trinity’: which was the original plan for GW2 including all requirements?
But…?
Here is the created new non-Holy Trinity model idea requirements: No-Hard Work, No-Hard Effort, No Risk-Reward, No Consequence for making mistakes, No Fun, No Skill-Play, No Learning From Mistakes, No Making Sacrifice for the better, No anything at all, Free Access To Everything With All Of IT!
Do you understand now?
The New Non-Holy Trinity Is Anti-Balance,
The New Non-Holy Trinity Is Having Free Unlimited Access To Everything With No Requirements.
As long this New Non-Holy Trinity remain, balance will never end.
I’m done.
Burning does not need a nerf… Specific professions need to have their access to it reduced and their durations adjusted. Otherwise professions like Necromancer will get yet another undeserved nerf by having their very limited access to burning become even more irrelevant.
Just because Guards, Ele’s and Engi’s can stack 8732482974293 burns doesn’t mean every other profession should suffer a nerf for something they can’t even do.
Please start thinking beyond “this is OP it needs nerf” before making complaints.
OP i understand what you are saying: when arena net nerf other professions: Necromancer will be scapegoat for their punishment. But you say necromancer have limited access to burn, what scapegoat punishment they will get? More limited access to fire? So what! I hope you understand
The main problem is for those professions who have unlimited access to it. That is the problem with Arena net balance: giving unlimited access to everything instead of having hard-work, with effort and risk-reward.
*The #1 Main Reason why we players are always arguing is that Arena net changed their definition of Non-Holy Trinity without telling us. That is correct! Arena net changed it: re-wrote the rules and by doing that: it is causing anger and confusion to their players. That is not right at all!
Last, you want to stand up and demand serious action or will continue arguing who is wrong or right by asking for “nerfs”?
For example: look at the results of some of the “nerfs”- thief traits, mobility, permanent-stealth, condition, burst, teleport, evasion, instant kill, invulnerability, etc…
Did the “nerfs” fix them? and you also expect burn to be “nerf”? Good luck!

Arena net: Robert Gee,
I want to ask you a quick question with answer. Whenever i play necromancer: a enemy player reset my death shroud when i want to activate it.. Is there a way to prevent the resetting of deathshroud of activating?
I asked before and i even post in a thread: everyone ignore me.
That is all
That’s because your question doesn’t make sense. I have no idea what you’re trying to ask. It doesn’t make sense either grammatically or in terms of game mechanics.
Sorry english my second language. I will try better.
What i mean by resetting? A enemy player would reset Life Force upon entering death shroud. Here is a example of a bug doing it. Perhaps it is the same bug?
“This is a short video illustrating a bug with the Necromancer’s Death Shroud. Upon Life Force depletion, the utility skills are locked out for 1 second”.
“From these short tests, it apprears that when Life Force drains to zero (by either natural decay or combat). there is a 1 second delay on Utilities”.

I’m surprised this make some people angry and disappointing. My question to you: would you rather see things happening or hear only words? People pay huge money to hear big speech and fail to see the results.
I am a person of action: what person are you?
