My friend rage quit SO hard last week over mesmer burst. It’s so unfair – especially considering how much stealth they now have.

I don’t know how anyone can actually defend mesmers at this point. I bet they even think they’re OP.

Well, Arenanet haven’t exactly gone out of their way to instil trust in their playerbase.

  • They said they would do a patch every two weeks to adjust balance in light of the huge balance patch. Have they? Nope. Have they even mentioned anything about it? Nope.
  • They haven’t released any statements regarding the wvw, or even acknowledged it.

A simple statement here or there would quell the playerbase immediately. Have they bothered to? Nope. Their silence only further angers everyone.

The meta is fine, the classes aren’t.

  • Mesmers need to be toned down. They do way too much burst considering the stealth & lick wounds strategy they can do.
  • Rampage needs to be toned down a little.
  • Guardian burning is ridiculous.

In general, damage across the board should be a little lower. But I’ll always prefer twitch gameplay to watching two bunkers hit each other with damp twigs for 8 minutes.

TDM is a fantastic concept, and I’m so happy A-net introduced it. Me and my friends love it, although admittedly Courtyard could do with several changes to encourage better fights.

What I would love is a couple more TDM maps. I always prefer actual fighting to running around catching blue/red circles, or 1-shot lazers (Skyhammer).

As a warrior I feel as if Rampage should be nerfed. Its very, very strong. Also I think Mesmer’s burst needs some adjusting; if not the numbers then maybe the cooldown. But I think the numbers are very high considering how easy it is to unleash the damage.

Hopefully they’re looking into both issues.

Hey there!

Me and my buddy are returning from a break which spanned over a year and a half and we both want to buy the Living World Season 2 from the Gem Store later today. Is it possible for us to run the story together as a duo, and in doing so will we both benefit from the rewards/achievements that you would get as doing it single player? Or would we have to play it single player in order to get the relevant rewards and achievements.

Arcing Slice- Greatsword buff suggestion

Even a simple change like on three bars of adrenaline the Arcing Slice has an 100% crit chance. Or a slight damage buff. Anything! It’s such an awesome, powerful looking animation put to waste right now.

As a warrior, I’m happy with these changes. But really what I’d LOVE to see is a slight change for Arcing Slice (F1 burst). Even if something like on 3 adrenaline bars it’s 100% crit chance on hit. That would be fine. Just something. ANYTHING. At the moment it’s a waste of an awesome animation.

Sorry if this has been mentioned before, but how do I actually acquire the PVP Zodiac Greatsword skin? What I’m planning to do is get the skin and then whilst in the mists apply the skin to another weapon.

It’s beyond me how Arcing Slice (GS F1 burst) hasn’t been changed by now. EVERY patch notes I look for a change and nothing. It’s shockingly bad right now. ANYTHING, even if it granted it might, would be better for it.

Ideally I’d like to see the damage buffed to reflect the cost, also maybe add something like a knockdown? Or if that’s considered imba, at least cause vulnerability.
It’s such a waste of a cool looking animation.

I’d like to see Arcing Slice put to #2 and changed a bit. Overall Greatsword is a bit gimmicky and needs something done to it.

Whilst I’m glad about the solo queue, I’m also a little upset. I used to love queueing with my buddy and taking on tournaments together. I feel like this has split us up

Is there any way they can do Solo Queue like how it’s done in League of Legends in that you can queue with at least 1 other person?

Final Thrust could do with a bit of ‘de-clunking’— whether this means reducing the cast time, increasing attack range or reducing cooldown. Any of these changes would work.

I’ve been playing dual-sword power build since the first beta weekend and I can say with full sincerity that this is the strongest the build has been to date. I’m very happy with how swords are at the moment, and wouldn’t mind if they just left it how it is. I feel strong, but not overpowered, I also feel I perform well in numerous situations thanks to the utilities the skills provide.

If I was going to nitpick then I’d like a lower cooldown on some of the skills, and maybe a faster cast time on Final Thrust. But in general I’m very satisfied with how the weapons perform.

Just wanna say I love the changes to Impale. Impale/Rip has always been my favourite skill, but with Impale now putting on Torment instead of bleeds it gives it the spice it needed.

I love how Rip works as it is. Very satisfying animation and decent damage, especially if you’re a power build. One of my fav abilities.

But yeah, to add to that, it would be good if there was a way that an off-hand animation could be integrated with the auto-attack chain, or in the Flurry. But that’s not going to happen, I actually don’t think it’s possible based on how weapons function in GW2.

Brilliant! This is the best news I’ve heard all week. Now I can show this thread to my friend and he’ll likely come back to the game.

It’s shocking, really, that I’ve had friends rage quit so hard over this map they’ve literally quit PVP. I hope they make balance changes and adjust the level of gimmicks.

Please don’t allow the Skyhammer map to be in the tournament cycle any longer. It promotes un-skilled PVP and gimmicks and imposes a rigid meta in order to be successful. A part of me dies when I see myself grouped with another Warrior or Thief, but should I really feel that way? Is this what it comes down too, I’m just awaiting the luck of being on the same side as a necromancer or a guardian? If that’s the case then that’s proof of poor map design. And it really is the case.

Can you please take note that a simple map that promotes actual fighting is what the majority want, not a map filled with gimmicks and all style over substance. This game is attempting to be an e-sport, but fearing someone off a ledge and 1 shotting groups of people with a lazer is not the ingrediant for an e-sport.

Not a tourny map. It’s horrible and full of gimmicks. It’s so frustrating to play on and doesn’t feel rewarding either.

Too much gimmicks. Too much style over substance. Give me forest map and some streams. Not mega lazer death cannons. The sheer rage coming out from my PVP friends on Skype today… I honestly think this map could make them quit the game. ¬_¬

Dual Swords For Warrior?

I run a dual-sword power build and have since the beta. I have a lot of success with it and I’m happy in general with the damage and utility.

Don’t listen to what they say about Rip, it’s not that hard to land. Not hard at all in comparison to the sword #3 skill. Infact the Rip range is 150, making it easier then the standard 130 range. It’s a great skill, just with a long CD. Also Impale (#4) isn’t bugged, it applies stacks over time whilst the sword remains in the target. The general idea is to leave the sword in to apply the stacks of bleeds, and then use Rip to maximize damage. However, as a power build, I generally use Rip shortly after Impale.

The hardest skill to land is #3 (Final Thrust) because there’s a long windup animation, and the 15second cooldown is very unforgiving if you miss. But when it lands it does great damage and has got me out of 1 or 2 hairy situations.

What I’ve loved about expansions in the past is getting 3 or 4 new zones open and released at once. It really was a breath of fresh air, and gave me a new perspective on the game as an adventurer, rather then just re-visiting old zones with slightly different mobs.

The problem, I think, with the living story updates is that there’s no real ground breaking change. It’s like 1 small area, a couple of small events and then waiting a couple of weeks until the next update. There’s no brand new sweeping forests to explore, or new towns or villages, or no new castles/mountains/jungles. And for me that makes the new content just seem a bit hollow.

An expansion would change everything.

Final Thrust is Infuriating

When the patch got released I was the first to criticize the changes to sword, having used them almost exclusively since the beta weekends. But after having played with it since the update I have to admit I feel stronger in PVP since the changes. I think the biggest changes that have had the most positive effect has been the new sword auto attack. At first I didn’t like the change because of the reduction of overall sustained damage, but now I’ve come to realise I prefer the faster attacking timings, and the cripple does have its uses— in general making it better from a PVP standpoint. For PVE it took a bit of a nerf, and a 15sec CD on Final Thrust doesn’t really do it any favours.

I had beef with Final Thrust at first, and this is mainly due to the cooldown and the casting time. The thing with Final Thrust is you just need to be really really particular about when you use it, and in what situation you use it. When the skill lands it can turn the tide in a fight because of the decent damage, but it’s difficult to land and I guess that’s the trade-off. In an ideal world I’d like to see the casting time reduced a bit. Maybe even from 0.75 to 0.50 would make a nice quality of life difference.

In general I’m adapting nicely to the changes. They weren’t the most optimal changes I had in mind for sword— but I’ve gotten used to them and really starting to enjoy it. Could be a lot worse.

Final Thrust is a Bust!

Old chain was 2.5s now its 1.9

Final Thrust has a 1 sec cast time for damage and .7 aftercast for a total of 1.7 delay on the skill.

The old chain had a higher overall DPS, since the final thrust hit was about x2.5 damage, making it as strong as two and a half regular hits. I used to get something like 430/430/1100. So roughly x4.5 damage every 2.5 seconds. Compare that to the new chain, which is x3 damage every 1.9 seconds

Old Chain: 1 hit worth of damage every 0.55 seconds
New Chain: 1 hit worth of damage every 0.63 seconds

It’s not as big a damage nerf as everyone seems to think , but it is there, 10-12% give or take, for a power build.

I actually like the speedier chain, but the overall DPS is lower. I’d like to see the chain sped up even more, maybe something like 1.7, which would bring it up to 0.56.

Also, final thrust #3 is SLOW as anything, it really needs it’s animation sped up quite a bit. Cooldown of 15s is also a bit high.

5.5% less damage in a power build than before. But more condi damage until you hit the cap. TBH i like the change. Power builds use sword as a CC weapon to setup their burst on their 2nd weapon or to gap close. Both of those aspects have been improved and now you have a #3 that hits as hard as Eviserate below 50%. Condi builds do more damage now too.

Sword is not only about to gap close, it could also be used to gap away and by putting Hamstring on the chain and adding cripple on Savage leap you remove some of the combat versatility of the sword. You can still use it as an escape but doing so result in wasting your cripple too. Wich was a tool needed if you didn’t want your foes to catch you back. But please, explain me how is reducing the overall DPS and reducing the number of utilities is seen as an improvement? Ok, if you use a specific offensive gameplay with a special setup, but when it comes to a more defensive gameplay and other variety of builds working around ranged weaponery or not using Leg Specialist and Opportunist you start to see the lack of a good and strong cripple.

Yes now we got a power “variant” of the sword (wich can only be used for a burst), but comeone, do you guys don’t have enough power weapons already? Why can’t they just leave the sword the way it was and keep the Mobility, Control and High sustain DPS and leave the Burst option to Greatsword and Axe (or Rifle).

I’ve always (since the beta) used sword with a power build anyway. I havent had to change my spec really to accommodate the new Final Thrust. All I hope is they make the skill more user friendly.

I’m finding it hard to understand what your problem is, you can still use the sword as a condition weapon— no changes has been made for that. If anything it’s now easier to apply bleeds.

Final Thrust in its current state is simply not viable. Okay, on rare occasion you catch someone out and do decent damage.. But that’s quite a rare and blessed oppertunity.

The casting time is rediculously long, you’re basically asking them to dodge you. It also feels very clunky and unresponsive. The cooldown is obnoxiously high, making it very punishing should you miss (which, let’s face it, happens all the time).

In its current state it’s bad and doesn’t justify the DPS lost from how it was before the patch. Unless they reduce the cooldown or casting time I’ll remain unhappy with the state of MH sword.

Final Thrust is horrible. The casting time is rediculously long, GL trying to hit anything with it in PVP. It’s got a huge “Hey guys, I’m about to attack you! Dodge now!” wind up animation, and it feels clunky as hell.

Also the cooldown is really unforgiving. Oh, you missed? Okay. try again in 15 seconds.

I’d rather they revert the changes. The damage gained from the new Final Thrust doesn’t come close to how it was before, this is purely because the cooldown is obnoxiously high.

i actually like this for my build, i can earthshaker someone for 5k and switch over and thrust someone for around 7k

but overall, i think this was a bad change for reasons people stated already

If they reduced the casting time + reduced the rediculously long cooldown I might be happy. But right now I just feel underpowered. It’s not practical.

So before you could spam it, and every 2 seconds final thrust would we up. So that’s around 3500 damage. That was fine, because it was spammable and easily achieved.

Now Final Thrust has a 15second cooldown, and the auto attack has received a harsh nerf. As if sword wasn’t bad enough, it’s one redeeming factor has had its balls chopped off. A 15second CD on Final Thrust is WAAAAY too high to be even remotely viable.

An absolute joke. Thieves can run riot with never ending initiative and no cooldowns and we’re limited by 15 seconds. I just don’t see how they thought this was a good idea.

I don’t understand how people thinks sword MH has got a buff. No. It’s got a nerf.

Think about it, Final Thrust as it stands now is the highest damage dealing skill for the sword. As it works currently, it has no cool down, meaning you can use it every 2 seconds’ish because you just need to spam auto attack to use it. After the patch it will be put on skill #3 and HAVE a cooldown, making it non spammable. In general the damage will be significantly lower because we can only use it as much as the cooldown allows us too.

AKA nerf. I’d rather they didn’t touch sword and leave it how it is.
