Will contact you in-game. Probably important to know whether we are NA or EU.
NA here.
… that last POI in Verdant Brink. My engie pass by it every day and look at it with nostalgic desire, from afar.
Same boat… lol, I just look at it and wonder.

Play times are hard to coordinate with such things.
I have helped 4 small guilds cap their hall. Now that I am ready to cap mine not enough people are available at a time to get the job done.
Not complaining, but it would be nice to have a Guild Alliance feature where a number (larger than 5) can associate to do things – Guild Hall caps, Raids, Events, Missions, parties, etc.
Anyway, contact me in game if you need another body for your Hall cap.

Thanks again for all the advice. It is really helpful and appreciated.
Lots to think about.
Now, I currently have a Cooler Master tower case and the Thermaltake CPU cooler.
The cooler dimensions are nearly the same as the CPU cooler I am planning get.
The depth of the new cooler is 159 mm (6.3 in).
I wonder whether the cooler will extend too far so the case’s side panel cannot be attached. So that side bump-out on the Corsair S3 case is appealing.
Don’t tell NewEgg, but I am just using their site/tool to collect items. I will likely shop around to find better prices. So, BrotherBelial.3094, I will head over to Amazon to see what they want for the blue LED case. Thanks for that lead.
Thanks again.
Thanks for the input, guys. You are all so helpful.
So I am likely going overkill for the short term.
I may overclock and like having that capability.
Still looking at the GPU and may upgrade it.
And am still thinking about the PSU (I like extra power).
I made some changes to the Wish list (again thanks for input).
Much appreciated.
FYI, this is the last PC I may ever buy. Would like it to be nice.
(wish that Corsair had blue LEDs )
Hi all.
I am looking to replace my existing PC.
Using the New Egg public Wish List you can review the current components here:
http://secure.newegg.com/WishList/PublicWishDetail.aspx?WishListNumber=28811366
- The system will run Windows 7 64bit. Maybe will try Windows 10 sometime
- A 1TB HDD and a 24x C/DVD RW will be migrated from the old PC
- All peripherals (monitor, mouse, keyboard, gamepad, camera) will be migrated from the existing system. Or maybe upgraded separately.
Problem:
I am not sure about the mid-tower case and motherboard.
Any suggestions for equivalent/better components at cheaper price would be appreciated.
Thank you, I will try them all.
Much appreciated.
I am making a Sylvari warrior to enjoy Verdant Brink and beyond.
Can y’all help with the green an purple colors/dyes used on Tribal weapons?
Here are a few wiki links to help.
- Shield http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/File:Tribal_Shield.jpg
- Staff http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/File:Tribal_Staff.jpg (yes, I know; warriors don’t use staves)
- Sword http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/File:Tribal_Sword.jpg
- Mace http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/File:Tribal_Mace.jpg
FYI, I do have problems with colors hence my reason for asking.
Thanks
bump to keep this discussion going.
I am interested.
Just sayin’…
Saw and liked you video at Twitchcon.
Nicely done.
[NA][TC] player
Mine:
- Human female – LB/GS glass cannon
- Sylvari female – Axe+Torch trapper
- Norn male – GS melee (LB, but don’t use it much)
- Asura male – Axe+Warhorn regen buffer
My Asura simply bounces around any fight applying bleeds, group regens, rezzes and warhorn buffs. Doesn’r die and looks funny while helping out. Simply PvE though.
Is that a large pet or a weird shaped rock in the background?
It’s not a rock and doesn’t look like any pet we know. Looks more like a nature spirit or mordrem-like creature of some sort.
Looks like a Reef Drake, but since we are getting new pets it is likely one of those.
Oh wait, I am dreaming again.. Have to wait to see if we get new pets.
l will second Moonlit.6421. Necro has a lot of build options. So does Ranger if you want a medium armor class.
I really like Necro, but have decided to stick to medium armor classes and currently am having the most fun on my Condition Engineer as a Silverwaste farmer. That class in that environment does require movement and dodging (that way I play it), so maybe that’s a class you want to try later after getting used to the combat system… maybe?
Anyway, welcome to the game. Anything need or question you have please ask.
Lots of good people lurk these forums and hang out in-game.
Enjoy your subscription-fee experience in GW2.
(yes, that’s a dig at WoW).
What everyone else sadi…
If you are leveling in PvE, LB/GS strong, later zerker gear is just fine.
Rotate different pets for more offense(cats/birds) or defense(bears).
Personally for faster, smoother leveling I stick to a power-focus. Then at lvl 80 I change each ranger to its dedicated role (Glass cannon, condi trapper, mid-line melee, regen buffer). note: I currently have 4 lvl 80… one will become a Druid; haven’t decided which yet.
Let me know in game if I can help you along.
Good luck and Enjoy!
I used to use the Naga, but as xarallei.4279 said, the old ones were designed for little hands. I find the G600 pretty good sizewise. The 12 buttons are easy to configure. I create a new profile for each character I am playing and switch using Logitech Gaming Software application.
FYI, I also use the Logitech G13 game pad. G13 for left hand, G600 for right hand. Just about eliminates the keyboard entirely except for messaging.
Hope you get what you need and enjoy. Good luck!
Have you looked at/considered the engineer?
I have 4 rangers each geared and specced differently. Quite good in what they do, but fun is not the word I would apply to them.
I tried a power enginner before and set that aside, but with the June 23rd update, I tried a pistol/pistol condi engineer running almost full Sinister. I am hooked! So fun, so risky, so rewarding. So much bust damage, nice sustain damage. Loving it in SIlverwastes.
I am leveling another engineer to become my SW farmer. My current lvl 80 (asura) will become a Scrapper with his melee hammer.
Anyway, Guild Wars 2 is such an amazing game. Look and you will find whatever you are looking for.
Good luck and enjoy.
Just want to post a Thank you to you guys.
Your advice was all right and very helpful.
Since equipping, I have done 15 puzzles in 2 days. Sometime today I am going down to Orr for those 3. Oh yea, I dusted off a human Mesmer and am using him, so… no golem. But your idea makes sense. Will equip Hounds instead of Moa!
Yes, Teaniel, the staff is no optimal. I did switch to Greatsword.
(edited by Slalom.3174)
Thanks guys.
Didn’t think the traits would be too critical, but good to know.
Here’s what it looks like:
http://gw2skills.net/editor/?vhAQNAW8dl0nh+0YZawWNwsGLrG05RCSRMjx06ZZEOeAA-TxhFABAoEEDdD9o8z5nA+TzXEAXU/pj9HECgJ-e
Thanks again.
Ele seems to be in a good position in all game modes. There seem to be a good builds that work. If you are looking for group acceptance then that might be a good route to go.
Necro, at least to me, is very good in PvE solo content; so many different builds.
However, after 3 years, I have decided to pretty much stick with the Adventurer (medium) classes. Ranger has so many build options and has so many updates, the possibilities seem endless. I have 4 atm each with a different build and purpose.
Engineer (condi p/p) is just fun! And as an Asura, hilarious.
Thief… well, if I had better reflexes and liked ganking up-levels from stealth I would play that profession more. (just kidding ).
At the end of the day, it is up to you to experiment, find what you might like, try it out. If it doesn’t suit you, move on. <— sounds like a cop out, sorry.
Good luck to you.
Doesn’t the listing timeout after a few 9maybe 5) minutes if no one joins the group?
I am stuck!
Which hammer skin to use with my Scrapper/Engineer.
At HoT I am making a new engineer, probably human, that will be a scrapper (that is if I like the spec.). I just cannot decide on a hammer skin.
Yea, I know. It is personal preference.
Why does it have to be so hard! (<— fyi, rhetorical)
And don’t suggest the Juggernaut, after 3 years constant play, and, recently, 20k SW bags, never a precursor in sight. Ha.
As Khisanth said, wait for a condi-engie to kill it for you.
or at least burst it down to a near-death level.
Seriously (haven’t played much guardian for 2 years), this is what my engie does:
- burst them then wear them down from range
- move constantly attacking from side and rear
- watch the animation and dodge or leap away from their charge
- dodge (need lots of endurance) their “streamer” things (whatever those things are)
- use that stun break if ever locked down
- don’t get double or triple teamed… they love doing the “teragriff bounce”
- got stability? use it. (I don’t… yet. )
- for Champs, bring a friend as fodder
- and finally, pray your Elixir S kicks in (oops, you’re not an Engineer )
Good luck out there
I am making a Mesmer (probably asura) strictly for Jumping Puzzles.
Not caring about DPS or other game modes, the focus is on:
- Movement skills (portal, blink, etc)
- Swiftness uptime
- Boon duration
- Damage avoidance/mitigation (via traits ?)
So looking for build ideas, I find some that are pre-June 23. But none that are recent.
Hoping you all can help with ideas.
Here’s what it looks like atmC:
http://gw2skills.net/editor/?vhAQNAW8dlknhC0YZawWNwsGLzG0pYUDzRMMlB42JD-ThxFAB0o8r5nA+jJq/w8FBgj9HAQJoQAMB-e
Gear-wise probably go Soldier with Traveler or Centaur runes. Soldier trinkets with boon duration doubloons.
Staff/Sword+focus with doubloons
But NO CLUE on Traits.
Any guidance/ideas/opinions would be helpful.
This is strictly fun build for running around and doing JPs. Also helping others with JPs (fee-free of course ).
Thanks everyone for the insight.
Guess what, based on what y’all have said I am stuck between berserker and sinister.
Will play around for a bit with gw2skills to see what I like.
Thanks again. Much appreciated.
Thanks, Black Frog.9274… more to think about.
With engie, I rely on Rocket boots, AED Elixir S, dodge/endurance, health and armor to bounce around teragriffs. But they can put a hurtin’ on ya.
Most mobs I can handle face-to-face, but teragriffs’ “charge” has such a wide swath dodging doesn’t get me out of the way sometimes. Gotta be able to take a big,big hit, get up, get moving, recover and return.
And forget the teragriff bounce! haah
Gonna have to give this more thought and experimentation.
i only play zerker in pve as thief. but in bwe2 i tested condi daredevil with d/d, condi dodge and it was way easier to be alive during fights in verdant brink than with staff. but the fights took so long. i had a mix of rabid and rampager, cause there was no option for sinister.
the thing is condi thief is not “viable” in pve because you dont have access to burning, the broken condition. you just dont do enough condi damage.
so i suggest you go zerker.
Just the kind of advice I was hoping for. Thanks
I guess zerker is still the way to go then (Too bad. I do so like conditions on my engie ).
Checked my vault and have a full set of both berserker and sinister stored away. Pays to be a packrat.
Now will work on weapon sets, runes and traits. Always so much fun…. :/
I haven’t really played thief and this topic does not apply to PvP or WvW.
But I have a sylvari thief I have been saving for general fun play in HoT.
Currently running a full sinister engineer in the Silverwaste events (VW and such). He has a great initial burst of burning and bleeds which melts most everything. After that it is dodge and move while awaiting cooldown before bursting again. With a 19-20K health pool and 2400 Armor he survives pretty well.
A thief doesn’t have those Health+Armor safeguards. Is that why I see p/p thieves running around SIlverwaste? I would rather not go the pew-pew route (save that for a ranger ).
So…
Strictly speaking about PVE in the Silverwaste and the upcoming Verdant Brink, what sort of gear (or gear mix) will excel for a thief in that environment? I think I want to stick with condition, so Sinister. Dire, Rabid, Rampager or a mix?
Sword+Dagger/Shortbow? Dagger+Pistol/Shortbow?
If you have any insight or opinion after playing against those mobs in Beta, please let’s hear it.
Thanks in advance.
Lots of people use elixirs.
Me, I use AED, FT, Rocket boots, Utility Goggles and Supply Crate… mostly for the F-skills. Love ’em, but I stay in Silverwastes mostly.
Current Traits (which get shifted around):
FA 1,1,3
Inv 2,3,2
Alc 2,2,1
Remember than ascended armor can now be recast/respecced via the Mystic Forge.
Well, gee whiz… that is disappointing.
Have been saving up for a Bursting sigil.
Now need to decide whether to stick with Bursting or Corruption.
sigh
Thanks, Bubi.5237
My harpoon gun has a Superior Sigil of Corruption in the second slot. Sigil of Earth in the first slot.
I have one pistol with Superior Sigil of Corruption equipped until 25 stacks are achieved.
Then equipping a pistol with a Superior Sigil of Bursting removes the stacks.
Why are the stacks removed? What might I be doing wrong?
I thought that we could retain the stacks.
Thanks in advance.
… Sinister gear is the way to go (power, precision, condition), since even as a condi engi you have the potential to do great direct damage through grenades and bombs.
Agreed.
For Silverwastes only, Sinister is fun. Though Rabid might be cheaper/easier to get.
Currently I am using Firearms(1,1,3), Inventions(2,3,2), Alchemy(2,2,1) with full sinister p/p.
As @lalex said, Logitech G600 is one choice. It has 12 buttons on the “thumb” side as well as the left, right and (what call the ring finger) buttons. You can set up various profiles and toggle them as needed.
I pair that mouse with the Logitech G13 game pad. So with mouse in my right hand and game pad under my left, the keyboard is eliminated except for message typing.
If you don’t go the extra hardware route, you can search the web for GW2 keybind layouts. As @Danikat explained, many PvP options are available. You will likely want to use whatever you find as a guide and re-arrange key assignments that work best for you.
Have you found the Wolfineer site ( http://www.wolfineer.com/ )? A wealth of information there.
THIS ISN’T MINE, and I’ll pull it if the character owner wants me too, but it was the first thing I saw that made me think the zodiac armor wasn’t too specific to go with anything else.
Yes, zodiac can work nicely.
My necro…

And coming soon!
Shiro Tagachi legend on Revenant.
Can hardly wait!
Just wondering…
My Asura engineer does a flip at the end of the Rocket Boots “leap”. I find it disruptive/irritating. Anyone else?
Do other races have similar animation irritants? Are some races better/smoother?
(Thanks to ANet I have a spare character slot so I guess I could check each one, but I am feeling lazy and cheap today * shrug *).
I really like my little rat, but that animation bugs me. And I thought I’d ask while sitting here eating lunch.
I don’t think so.
Have you looked at this page for an alternative?
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Equipment_acquisition_by_stats
Grats on Mawdrey though. Still need the fractals relics to finish mine.
What Liet Talon said.
When doing chest trains in Silverwaste I fill my 1500 vault very quickly. Even more so Dragonite. I can’t imagine a faster source.
Edit: Example of very quickly, yesterday I did 7 or so rounds. Afterwards I made 32 stars and 35 ingots. They stack up pretty quickly.
Peutrifectus,
Thank you for the kick in the butt. Have been trying to get comfortable with Rabid, but I think that the carrion would be better. Would miss the Crit chance, but it would be tolerable.
Will have to think about those traits, but am anxious to try it out.
P.S. I sorta agree that FT feels slow (one-dimensional); pistols are so much fun. Need to add a shield for those pesky rangers.
(edited by Slalom.3174)
Silverwastes is a great place to use a condition build. DISCLAIMER: IMO.
Seems I kill those mobs faster by piling up conditions than by direct damage. Or maybe it is just more fun.
P.S. I still hate teragrifs with an overwhelming passion! Their knockdown has too wide a path and when they gang up 3-4 at a time.. Geesh!
…I’d add Muddy Terrain and the trap that cripples (forgot the name of that one) for utility recommendations. …
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Spike_Trap
I include that trap in most bow-based builds, especially for WvW. Gives a moment respite while switching to melee for that silly warrior that closes distance. haha
Dodge to avoid attacks.
For the Ranger,
- Send the pet in to attack first (F1) before you fire a shot
- As soon as you can get the Taunt grandmaster trait (Beastmastery/Beastly warden)
https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Beastly_Warden - Utility skills (Protect Me and Guard) can be useful
Rangers are fine in easy mode if that is what you want. Over time you will discover they have a myriad of builds and playstyles.
And if anyone gives you any grief, an arrow to the knee changes their tune.
(edited by Slalom.3174)
@Arioso.8519, you said, "When you cast an elite skill” rune.
Which one are you looking at?
- Rune of the Mad King - summon ravens
- Rune Of Lyssa - converts conditions to boons
- Rune of the Krait - aoe bleed, torment and poison
- Rune of the Sunless - aoe fear and poison
Funny thing.
I was just looking at/thinking about those runes this morning for the same reason.
Adding a passive condition removal would be helpful.
I don’t know how to fit them into a WvW build yet.
So, here’s 2 requests for info.
After reading posts here, this is what I am running in Silverwastes. The trinkets are not right yet and the sigils are not what I want, but this is PvE afterall. I will get the right stuff when I can afford them.
I hope this will help you get moving in a useful direction.
Note: I toggle Flamethrower to engage swiftness via Streamlined Kits. It is also useful when surrounded by mobs as pistols don’t have much AOE.
(edited by Slalom.3174)
What about the Venommaster thief build. Is that no longer viable?
As engineer, remember Pistol#2 is poison.
It is very helpful on my condi-build engineer along with bleeds, burning and confusion.
Wishing I could afford a Torment sigil. heeh
Did anyone mention http://gw2crafts.net/ ?
They have crafting guides, including guides for the 400-500 push in each profession.
Good way to plan.
Remember that leveling to 80 only gives 400 Hero Points. 465 points are needed to finish the Core Training and Traits. So you can do some Map explore/Skill Challenges to get points and get some Ranger practice.
Then you will only have to worry about the Elite/Druid Specialization training. Is that with Hero points too? I think so.
The hardest decision is Which Race to play!!!! ARGGH!
