You took some of the best thief skills, buffed them and then gave them to the revenant.

  1. Enchanted Daggers=buffed Skelk Venom with added siphon damage
  2. Re-positioning Shadows=Withdraw and Roll for Initiative’s secret love child
  3. Phase Traversal=Shadowstep/Steal/Infiltrator’s Signet, take your pick -_-
  4. Impossible Odds=near perma-Haste without the stun break
  5. Jade Winds=longer duration AoE Basilik Venom

Please tell me I’m not the only one that sees this. Very original indeed.

It’s a trade-off, you get less number of total utilities but you get to slot 6 utilities instead of 3 utilities. And they added weapon-swap in-order to provide more options when building.

I think its a pretty decent trade. I think of it as having my deathshroud and lich form up constantly while still being able to use my weapons, on my necro. Pretty beastly.

Been playing a bit of St.

Loving it more this weekend, than compared to last beta St event.

  1. Timing my Ossa for when they’re in our lord’s room has been fun.
  2. Supply depot changes seem to have made Mid-fights more enjoyable/a priority
  3. Adding supply gains from enemy kills makes defending more fun/fulfilling

The treb though…

If someone is on the treb, you pretty much have to stop what you’re doing and get them. And since the treb respawns every few minutes, if you’re up against a treb kitten, you pretty much don’t have time to do anything before the treb respawns and that kitten is back on it. There’s almost more benefit to camping at the enemy treb and destroying it every few minutes and waiting for mist champs to channel than running supplies or fighting else where.

If you’re going to keep the treb though, then you have to do one of the following:

  1. Put a cap on number of spawns for the treb (2 times)
  2. Give it a bigger spawn time (5 mins)
  3. Or make the treb easier to destroy

There were some matches where you could literally call the game mode TrebWars. It just wasn’t fun sitting at a treb site and fighting, don’t get me wrong, I like fighting. It just didn’t feel like I contributed to anything other than turn the match into a 4v4.

You could replace the treb with a cannon or a balistia that could help the lane defend. Or introduce a mechanic where every player kill within your gates/stronghold triggers a dead Guard’s respawn time so they respawns.

After today’s patch, July 10th 2015, whenever I launch GW2’s luancher, it freezes and doesn’t respond.

After I close it, or end it via Task Manager, it still runs in the background and I can’t stop/end the task. So I can’t re-launch GW2’s launcher.

I’ve reset my PC 6 times and tried to open GW2 now, and this continually repeats.

(I always run GW2 as an admin)

My next step might be to just uninstall and reinstall the entire client.

So I’m having a really lame time learning all the icons and what specialization they mean. I have 10 level 80 toons that I swap between regularly and playing with or learning new builds is a bit annoying at the moment.

I suggest this QoL change where when you’re swapping specializations you see an actual list with the actual names. Because I’m lazy and don’t like having to hover every single one hoping that it’s the one I want.

The more and more I think about this event, the more and more it gives off pay2win vibes.

Rich servers who can afford massive amounts of golems are just gonna rekt everyone.

Anet knows that there’s no gold to be made in WvW so WvWer’s are gonna have to shell out a bit for gem2gold4golems (g2g4g) is this what they think about when they see gVg threads?. Very smart event on Anet’s side of things.

Immobz is pretty powerful and should have more counters to them besides condi cleanses.

But I don’t think having stun-break or stability work on them like fear would really fit in with the idea of immobz.

I’d prefer to have all immobz work like roots. Where you can cleanse them off or you can use your auto-attack and remove the root. They already have this mechanic in the game and I feel it fits better when I think about immobz/roots.

But for sure, immobz are way to powerful to have only one mechanic to counter them, I wouldn’t really care what they did so long as they added something to counter it.

At the end of their first year, they release a fact sheet saying they sold over 3 million units and have a ~250k player base. That’s a little under 10% of total units sold. That’s like a video going viral and 90% of viewers thumb-downed/disliked it. It’s kind of crazy when you think of it that way.

But in Anet’s defense, selling 3 million copies of any game is freaking ridiculous. Having a quarter million active players is unheard of. And when you put those two numbers together… it doesn’t add up and for that reason they probably don’t want to really reveal the current state of the game is at anymore.

I’ve stopped caring about WvW. It’s pretty much a dead game mode to me, so this Golem Event doesn’t really mean much to me.

But can you guys imagine how stupid EotM will be with all them k-trainers running around in golem blobs and with a massive golem tail (cause you know there’s gonna be a massive tail of golems)

I haven’t really enjoyed WvW in awhile and I don’t think this golem event will be any fun, it might makes for some nice lols but that’s probably all it’ll do. Lols.

No. Uncatchable is not actually using the skill caltrops, its just the effect, therefore it doesn’t classify as a trick.

Are they looking that the damage indicators/floaters above the target? Do they know that it tallies/adds up the total damage you do over a period of time/a single rotation? Did they do a full rotation and ended on an auto-attack so that it looked like it hit for 50k?

Have them read the actual combat log and see what they’re really doing. Those damage floaters are misleading to a lot of players.

Most champs have more than 1 hitbox, Brie is kind of small but it wouldn’t surprise me if he has 2 hitboxes. So hitting him that many time makes sense to me.

I’m not sure if the projectiles do damage, but that could explain the extra hits too.

And for the damage, with vulnerability, might and how buggy a lot of the damage modifying traits are at the moment, I can see you crit’n for that much.

@Trice, those damage indicators are total damage in a rotation. So throughout the rotation you’ll see the individual damage of each strike but once the rotation is over you’ll see the total added damage you did via that rotation. In GW2, you can queue attacks and if you constantly queue attacks and the target has enough hp you can see those ticks hit over 6 figures, easily.

I’m not against the elitist community in dungeons.

But you’ve got to admit, even among the elitist community, there’s that one guy that just makes you tilt your head and be like, “really?”

I just want to hear your stories when you’ve encountered one of these.

For me, just today, ran a TA path. This warrior was just calling everyone noobs and scrubs, kept asking where the ele’s ice bow was and calling out the thief for his stealth. What was really funny was that before the thief and ele joined, he was like we won’t need an ele or thief and the entire run he relied so much on them. And started to kitten when they didn’t do things the way he wanted. They were dropping ice bow and stealth, just not for him. Lols, the experience in person was more funny than I can really explain.

What kind of elitist adventurers have you encountered?

Don’t hold your breath. The devs started a thread nearly a year ago about the subject but kibosh’d it.

I think in an interview a while ago, they touched on the subject saying that it would be a nice feature but not a necessary one that warranted them to devote the resources to make it happen, kind of like capes.

To be honest though, the new specialization is so streamlined and condensed, it doesn’t take much to retrait now. Especially, if you compared it to the previous system that required like 60+ clicks, this one only requires around 9-12 clicks to completely retrait.

It’s all about learning the traits, which you should do, once you do retraiting is actually really fast and simple.

I think a template system now, would only really benefit players that copy builds without learning the how’s and the why’s.

Currently, they allow us to save the spec’s/templates between the WvW/PvP/PvE. Which is really nice.

Runes and sigils trapped in gear

1. The reason they don’t allow you to salvage karma, WvW and story armor is to protect the games’ economy. They’re trying to keep the currencies as separate as possible, otherwise you’ll see tons of players destroying the trading post. Its a feature that needs to be intact, they won’t change it.

They should add a karma/badges salvage kit that only works on karma/badges gear. When you use them you get vials or karma or badges back (instead of the raw mats) and the rune/sigil. This way you get your rune/sigil back and the economy isn’t affected.

2. You know that out of all the runes, only 16 aren’t obtainable via crafting, karma or dungeon tokens? Out of all the sigils, 31 of them aren’t obtainable via crafting, karma or dungeon tokens and of those 31, 14 of them are slayer sigils that no one would normally want.

Over 70% of all sigils and runes are obtainable via crafting, dungeons or karma. And over half of the sigils obtained via RNG are the undesirable slayer ones, so you could say 75-80% of desirable sigils and runes are obtainable via crafting, dungeons or karma.

Just saying, #2 isn’t really something you can really complain about since every game needs some RNG system for loot and when it comes to sigils and runes, its a very small issue.

3. They announced these changes 3 months ago in detail for players to get ready for the changes, something they never do, normally.

They up’d players base stats and gear stats to compensate for the stat drops. The only reason you would really need to re-gear is if you suddenly decided to change your build completely, which is a choice. When players choose to change their builds before the patch, they had to go out and get new gear, so why do you expect them to not keep that same system with the new patch? They offered a way to change ascended armor, which was already really nice of them to do for us, I don’t really see an issue with exotic armors.


tl:dr
They should implement a system to salvage karma and WvW armor, that doesn’t break the trading post. But you shouldn’t cry over exotic gear, unless you’re a PvE scrub.

When your combo fields are overlapping, you’re suppose to say something and organize better.

If that guardian is still miss timing his light fields, then it means he’s a scrub.

Working with each other is the entire basis for ‘combo’ fields and finishers. I hate the idea of removing the skill cap from group play.

The game is way to easy as it is, it doesn’t need to be easier.

i have chochobo but i’d settle for at least 30 dollars. i know it’s a late thread but…. maaaan…. i like gw2 but i can’t afford to pay 50 bucks for each expansion :T and i don’t want to wait like… 3 years to get the expansion for 10 dollars…. you know?

From what I can tell, they never planned to do an expansion system at launch which is why year 1 was filled with content. And at some point they figured it was better to do expansions instead of the feature and content patches like they were doing in first half of year 2.

If you’ve really been playing the game for 3 years, you can’t say you haven’t gotten 1-2 expansions worth of content, and all of it for free. So it wasn’t waiting 3 years for an expansion but waiting 3 years to pay for 1.

The change to the Specialization system wasn’t for balancing. It’s to introduce a system that allows for class progression, i.e. Ranger > Druid, Guardian > Dragonhunter.

The old system didn’t have that.

It took them over 2 years to balance the old system the way they had it. It’ll be a while for them to balance the new system.

But I’m all for them trying to introduce any form of the trinity you see in other games (power/tank/healer, power/support/control, etc)

I’d prefer a more stream-lined/condensed version of the current system, not an expansion like this.

  • Profession(i.e.Zeal) – Profession Effect (i.e. Virtue Recharge Rate)
    Does Profession attribute fact affect anything besides Profession Skill’s (i.e. F1, F2, etc) recharge rate? If it affected damage, it wouldn’t be applicable to every profession and would be a useless fact to know for more than half the profession. So why list ‘profession’?
  • Concentration – Boon/condi “effect” duration
    There aren’t enough generic boon/condition duration buffs to really merit a skill fact, is there? Most duration buffs are specific (i.e. might duration, bleeding duration, etc). Right now, its just taking up space for a lot of professions/characters and doesn’t need to be there, unless you want to suggest more generic duration buffs, which would be less flavorful, as say a bleeding spec ranger or a might stacking ele. instead it’ll be condi class or boon class which feels more dull and have less flavor.
  • Malice – Condition damage
    condition damage is already the primary stat that affects all conditions differently depending on the specific conditions damage formula, if you wanted more detail you’d have to list condition damage – then a list of every damaging condition, which can be over 5.
  • Spirit – Healing Power
    Healing power is the primary stat for Benevolence, but because benevolence doesn’t have a major roll at the moment, it isn’t listed. That could change in the near future though, sense it looks like they’re adding more and more traits/skills that rely heavily on benevolence (i.e. healers)

Firstly, tell me why you need to see your own name.
Secondly, isn’t it just clutter for the times that you don’t need to know your name?
Thirdly, the camera angles would just make it look stupid 95% of the time, like it does for other MMOs.

Why can’t you see players’ items like in WoW?
First, gtfo like WoW…
Second, GW2 is all about the community, if you want to see a players equipment/gear you need to take the step and ask them. It creates dialogue and a connection to other players.

Get rid of Crit/DD spots for Bosses

DD spots are just places where the range of cleaving melee weapons hit 2 of the bosses hit boxes. Not all classes/weapons are even capable of utilizing these spots.

Most melee cleaving weapons can hit it, pretty much no ranged weapon auto attack can utilize it, though certain ranged weapons like ele staff meteor storm can hit all 3 hit boxes with a single attack. I suspect ranger LB AOE can too.

They aren’t gimmicks, they are just an artifact of the fact that most mega bosses have more than one hit box.

Crit is just bugged currently I believe since it was just added.

That maybe so, but with the increased HP pool, even with Crit we now need to use the DD spots or have a higher chance of failing. I think if DD is going to stay in the game it should be an area instead of a spot. with a bigger range to match what the current range of skills are. Instead of the current 80 or whatever it is.

Think of a dart board, with the Boss in the middle. Those Circles are the new Crit zones and DD hit zone. Thats what I am thinking here.

The increased HP pool was a response to the high condition damage. Adding crits was to prevent non-condi players from raging/qq. Crits are pretty buggy at the moment tho.

And I’m all for higher fail rates for world bosses.

They are WORLD BOSSES, the thought of them being little push overs always annoyed me. These are creatures that are meant to be menacing and ferocious, so failing should always be a possibility, it adds to the suspense. Even done current Teq when it was relaunched? Getting the win after so many tries, and getting the win with <1min to go? That was suspenseful. Triple Trouble, standing at a completed Wurm Head and just cheering on the last Wurm to die, with seconds to go and getting the win, has to be one of the greatest PvE feels ever.

Making all World Bosses like this, suspenseful and epic. +1 Vote from me.

But they probably won’t do it, once they fix a bit of the crit bugs, everything will probably be the same as always. No point in qq about higher failure rates.

Hero points and spirit shards represent an updated version of the previous skill point system. Hero points are used to unlock traits and skills. Spirit shards are used to purchase vendor items and used with the Mystic Forge. When you log in for the first time, you’ll notice that your character has a quantity of Hero points converted from the previous system. Your character’s Hero points are visible in the Training tab of the Hero panel. You’ll also notice that your character has a number of spirit shards converted from the previous system. Your spirit shards are visible in your character’s wallet. The Wallet button is located in the bottom-left corner of your Inventory panel.
Moving forward, you may earn Hero points by leveling up and completing hero challenges (previously skill challenges). You’ll be able to earn spirit shards through daily achievements, champion loot bags, PvP reward tracks, birthday gifts, and, once you hit level 80, from tomes of knowledge and regular drops from creatures.
Level Reward Changes

  • Base attributes now increase at every level from 2 to 10 and every even level from 12 to 80.
  • Hero points are now earned every odd level from 11 to 80. A total of 398 points are earned through leveling.
  • Weapon skills now unlock by level 8.
  • Underwater weapon skills all unlock together at level 8.
  • Weapon swapping now unlocks at level 10.
  • Skill training now unlocks at level 11.
  • Utility skill slots now unlock at levels 11, 15, and 19.
  • Profession skills unlock at levels 5 (F1),11 (F2),15 (F3),19 (F4), and 31 (engineer F5).
  • The WvW tip has been moved to level 31, but characters may enter WvW at any level.
  • Specialization slots now unlock at levels 21, 45, and 71.
  • Various smaller milestones such as equipment slots, personal story steps, and tips have had their levels updated.

basically they split the old Skill Point currency into 2 types, Hero Points and Spirit Shards. Hero Points are used for leveling and Spirit Shards are the new mystic forge currency.

short answer, they needed a class/profession progression system like you see in other games. the previous system didn’t offer that, so they came up with the spec system.

as they add more and more elite specializations, there will eventually be more options than with the old system.

Maybe Backstab should have a cool down.

Did anyone notice it’s 2 thief attacking a very glassy player ? unless steal now has no cd!

this is just a QQ/TrollPost…

It’s showing the damage from Mug and the interrupt from Sleight of hand. It’s not showing 2 steals, just 2 skill facts from a single steal.

Used an exotic (L60) sigil on my L60 sword.

My L60 sword turned into L80.

This doesn’t seem normal.

I thought the mortar kit was suppose to be our option for that long-range damage weapon.

Instead it’s become a crappy ranged support weapon with all of those combo fields. So basically a long-ranged elixir gun.

So instead of cutting the grenade’s range, basically nerfing it, can we instead find a way to nerf the elixir gun now and make the grenades what it used to be?

Currently, when you’re re-spec’n your character, you click on the spec icon and you get a window of icons. It’s a bit annoying to have to however every single icon to figure out what each one is.

This might now be an issue for later, for when I learn each icon for every profession (which isn’t very likely).

But could we get a list with the actual names of each spec? Instead of the icons only. Can it also be sorted so the top of the list are the Spec’s you don’t already have equipped and the ones at the bottom of the list be equipped?

This is more of a QoL suggestion. I’m sure I’ll get the hang of the new spec system and what each icon means, eventually. Sigh, really regretting having 11 characters at the moment.

Learn to read instant bursts from invisible targets that can stun you three times in a row while teleporting around like deranged poltergeists. Such a l2p issue, amirite?

It’s not instant though. You do know you can see clones run towards you right…..you can dodge shatter just like you could prepatch. Its nothing new.
If you are having problems now , chances are you were having a problem with mesmers before, and that does make it a L2P issue

Uhm, you can dodge while stunned? This is news to me. I really need to read up on those patch notes and get good.

Stability/stun break is your friend. All classes have access to it.

Stability’s duration is too low, most players can just out stealth the stability.

Only real option is equipping 3 stun-breaks. 3 stun-breaks, is that appealing to you? Is it even viable?

And if this does become the meta, 3 stun-breaks aren’t gonna do anything against 2+ players running it because it became meta.
