My warrior is my go-to MF character that gets kill credit so easily it’s ridiculous and therefore she’s geared appropriately. I never take her to dungeons or any group related events for that matter. The gear is a mix of explorer rare/exotic/green depending on my luck with drops. I have the superior luck sigil on one weapon and even the trinkets are explorer. I believe without food or buffs it’s about 120%.
Saying all that and after spending a lot of time trying to maximize that character to farm open world; I would still be overjoyed to see a change to magic find.
Infusing gear with magic find would be a way to make any gear magic find gear, without losing offensive/defensive stats.
Instead of 5% agony resist it would be 5%green/10%rare/15%exotic/20%ascended magic find. The runes (max MF of 5 pirate runes +1 traveler rune) would be compensated for, if you have each exotic piece with a minimum of 15% MF infusion.
Maybe they could even make it mithril & silk scraps to infuse. Cheapest infusion ever.
Devs: Trait Challenge Issued
@Dante – I think your idea would be a lot easier than the Magic Find Infusion idea. A special amulet with percentage range from 50-300 is a great idea. But only if they do away with the MF gear or else people will still just get that and run with the gear to maximize the percentage.

Pretty soon it may be cheaper to buy the legendary than to buy the precursor and then make the legendary. The cost of some of the T6 mats are definitely going up as supply is slowly diminishing.
Just a thought. But if people are farming CoF P1 hard enough to make the gold for the precursor <— usually a third of the price for the actual legendary.
Wouldn’t it just be smarter to go ahead and farm 2/3 more of the time and put in a buy order for their preferred legendary?
They’d probably make back a good chunk of change selling all the materials they’d collected in preparation for making the legendary and not have to rely on RNG at all.
I’m not a number cruncher but from a little bit of preliminary pricing and rounding of max buy orders for components; you’re not saving a whole lot of gold by making your own. And there are hidden costs for some of the components (clovers = RNG, WvW badges will require some repair costs, T6 mats are costly and subject to market fluctuations, certain dungeons are harder to run than others (Arah for Bifrost), etc. )
EDIT: I’m not endorsing just outright buying the legendary. I think it makes it cheap when you are allowed to do so. I am just pointing out that max buy order for a precursor Ie. The legend = 600g and max buy order for Legendary Bifrost = 1800g At some point it just might be cheaper gold & time wise.

I really hope Anet considers a modification to magic find and its application.
I believe it would make everyone a lot happier if magic find was applied to gear like agony resistance now is.
Where the person wanting magic find, infused their gear with it instead of wasting a stat. The only down side to this would be for those running fractals that need agony resistance on their gear.

I have 3 lvl 80’s and a lvl72, 60, & 30. The last two alts feel like they are taking forever to level.
While I was on my main I hated leveling as fast as I did. I wanted it to slow down. Part of the speed was from crafting & map completion.
But that lvl60 has jewel & chef maxed. It is still a very slow process. I have found when I am out there alone it takes a lot longer to get exp. The other characters were always surrounded by other people. The more empty the maps, the slower it goes.
EDIT: Map completion does help. I would suggest visiting all three starter zones, and completing them. Queensdale seems to be a very popular starting zone. If you know how to get to Lion’s Arch you can go to all of them at any time.

Before anyone else asks; were you using rare GS’s or exotics?
And gratz.
Devs: Trait Challenge Issued
There are plenty of posters in the crafting sub-forum with 3-5 legendaries that give advice on making them, to those that ask. A couple of lucky MF gambling endeavors funds them to make even more legendary weapons. You can go totally broke playing the MF or get really lucky. Most just go broke.
The title is okay at 5 legendary weapons (I have 0 and no plans of acquiring one) but I would like to see the Twilight/Sunrise GS’s fixed.
If they aren’t the true legendary then Anet should have simply required two pre-cursors to create Eternity. Last I checked both Twilight/Sunrise had legendary status so they should count them as such.
Why make the greatsword lengendary so terribly confusing for new players. Even when you try to explain it to someone new, it comes out sounding nonsensical and confusing.
EDIT: +1 for making a title to go along with the achievement. I got off-track sorry.

Toughness, Healing Power, Boon Duration or Precision, Condition Damage, Condition Duration. Or any of the multiple different combos that aren’t in game presently and aren’t centered around DPS.
I hate the snowflake has boon duration mixed with magic find. Though with the new boon-hate my guardian with 72% boon duration is going to have to step very lightly.
Lets make magic find like an agony infusion and get back a stat. I digress.
So many different stat combos that could help condition & boon builds, that are non-existent.

@Wiser with Age – This exclusivity attitude is common. Yet it will only satisfy those that get lucky. The others that tried and failed, due to RNG, are left with a bitter taste. Anet was on the right track with it’s transmutation stones and armor dyes but the models are not as varied at the moment and weapons are less customizable.
I didn’t even try to get a fused ticket because I don’t agree with RNG chests. I ended up leveling an alt, getting a single key, and a ticket was inside.
My ranger has a nice longbow skin and everytime I use it I feel bad for the people that used 100+ keys and got nothing. I certainly didn’t earn that skin. I just got lucky.
One day there will be an MMO where customization and choices of cosmetic weapons & armor will be vast enough that you will be hard pressed to tell that you’re wearing the same armor or using the same weapon as the person beside you.
Being able to change the hilt of a sword/axe/greatsword/dagger or rifle/pistol stock. Being able to stain the parts of the weapon different colors. Earn a particle effect for the weapon and tint the color to your liking. Etc.

The WvW exploration component is VERY VERY controversial. Almost nobody approves of it
Pure PvE players like me hate that we have to walk into a PvP warzone and get shot at, in order to recieve a PvE item
Stopped reading there. It is not a PVE item. It is a reward for playing all aspects of GW2.
I don’t have an issue with WvW being included in making a Legendary. Some do. I don’t think the achievements required to make a legendary are that epic at all. Many of them can be bought using the TP.
I will say that if it is to reward all aspects of play in GW2 then PvP (not just WvW) should have been a part of the achievement as well.

As I just posted in another thread : I don’t think Anet is going to add any underwater combat ‘till they address the many problems it has. Severe lack of skills/build options, lack of stomps, huge unbalances, resurfacing when downed has no advantage to it but it’s instead a bad idea … and I could go on…
Bolded the issue I’ve seen too. Before when you surfaced it was entirely possible for you to fully heal and then be invulnerable to mob damage. Anet patched this and now surfacing doesn’t help at all.
Adding to that if you are low on health and try to make it to shore; don’t. If you are downed between land and water, all your downed skills disappear as if you’re still swimming and you can’t move (like being downed on land). Guaranteed death.
I hope Anet revisits the surfacing heal because it still tells you to surface to save yourself when it doesn’t help any longer.
After addressing the underwater combat system, I have hopes they do add more underwater content and the Largos race in the future.
EDIT: now it’s bolded

I took my devourer & arctodus on passive. They did just fine until the final bosses. If only I had 5 more trait pts I could protect them by dodging, when they need to jump. But I am not giving up Eagle eye or spirits unbound.
My spirit build actually was quite helpful to the party in the dungeon, up until the final bosses. Their survivability is still pretty dismal but the elite spirit revived quite a few people multiple times. Unfortunately it seemed to get a lot of aggro on the final bosses and healing spring was not helping at all. Either or both bosses liked me far too much when I brought out the spirits.
If you have the protection on dodge roll you can keep pets safe when it’s time to jump.

The new gauntlets are also unbelievably alt-unfriendly. Anet often makes sure that it is unnecessarily difficult and time consuming to play multiple characters with things like story mode unlocks, fractal levels, and laurels, but this seems to be the only thing that you cannot overcome with enough time and effort. One per account, never any more, ever.
Just one more reason that they really need to sell a Gem Store item that allows characters to make a soul bound item, account bound. Or get rid of soul bound altogether and use account bound.
It won’t fix the problem that the item you chose was light/medium/heavy armor and you can’t share that between characters unless they all use the same type of armor.
When I got the fused gloves for my Ranger I didn’t realize the flame color could be changed. Had I known that I would have gotten them for my guardian instead. Lesson learned and no fix possible unless they eventually let us get more of these in the future.

If they really wanted these things to take time to achieve, the Legendary would have been gated behind a legendary quest chain. One that required a gift of “xxx” to continue to the next quest. The gifts wouldn’t necessarily depend on RNG as they do now (gold & lodestone)but one for dungeon mastery(all dungeons & paths run once), one for map completion(all PvE maps completed), one for personal story completion, one for killing one of each type of enemy in Tyria, one for maxing crafting to 400 in each profession(account wide not per character), one for killing all the world bosses, one for completing ‘x’ amount of DE’s in each map, one for opening all the temples in Orr, etc.
There is always someone that will rush through content to be the first. A quest based system (similar to that mentioned above) could have slowed the process. At the culmination of the epic quest chain, the player gets to choose an account bound pre-cursor. Then the player would have most of the components needed to craft their own account bound legendary.
Even if they implemented something similar in the future that doesn’t make all pre-cursors account bound, only those that are received as a reward. Pre-cursors that are dropped by bosses/chests/JP’s etc are all still sellable.
EDIT: After thinking this one through, they could have implemented a similar type epic quest chain for WvW players as well. There are plenty of difficult achievements inside of WvW just because of the nature of the place. Kills with different types of equipment: arrowcart, seige, canons, etc. Map completion with POI’s, JP’s, Vista’s, skill points. Champion map enemies (not the tower champs). DE’s in the WvW maps not the tower/keep defense but the less popular ones that pop up in the map like killing the veteran Warg. Taking x amount of keeps, tower. Killing x amount of keep/tower champs, Acquiring x amount of Badges of Honor. You guys get the idea that there are plenty of epics that can be put into a check list type quest for seeking the pre-cursor/legendary, even in WvW.

As a level 80 ranger I would say, no. I feel like if I play smart I can survive in Orr but certainly not powerful.
If I need my fix of feeling powerful I’ll take my toon back to a low level area and harass some mobs.
At level though, I don’t think harassing multiple mobs at once is such a great idea. (it’s a mixed spec for using spirits)

There are a lot of minor issues to be worked out with underwater combat. Once they get that done I would love to see more of it. I even hope that some day the Largos will be a playable race.
Many classes are limited by their choices of skills/elite skills underwater. The problem with the Z axis targeting being a bit off and mobs(still next to their spawn) go invulnerable and regenerate health, right next to your character. And another strange bug I found after they patched the surface invulnerable bug. Now if you are caught between land and water in the downed state, you will die.
(EDIT: just to explain that you die because you have no option to use your downed state skills (terrestrial or aquatic)but the enemy is still targeting and killing while you can do nothing)
It’s the small things that make underwater combat a bit tedious at this time. In the future it could be a great addition.

The chances of getting precursors are horribly small, it’s just that all the people posting here are either those who got a bunch of precursors very fast, or those who spent a ton of gold and have nothing. Really, if you want to get your precursor from MF I would suggest just playing the game and buying a few rares occasionally and hopefully in a year or two you might get one
^^Pretty much I’m doing this. I have been collecting rare weapons along the way. I don’t sell any of them just put them in my bank. When I get four of the same type I put them in the forge. You only lose about 20s per rare and you will, at the very least, get a rare back. For weapons that have dropped over time playing the game just running around, there isn’t a huge loss involved.

The item itself actually says Able to mine all metals, so it is quite unlikely that they would be unable to mine any possible higher tier.
I see, I’d still like a dev comment on this just to ensure.
On a second thought though, I think it’s unlikely they’ll release new node tiers because then they’d have to add new armor/weapon/etc tiers into the game and they promissed ascended would be the last of them.
You won’t get a dev response confirming, the response you will get is “We have no plans do add higher tiers right now, nor are we working on it. We cannot guarantee we will never add tiers, but it is currently not being worked on or considered.”
This sums it up pretty well:

As someone who uses spirits a lot and is still trying to make them viable; what did you mean by this:
“-Spirits Unbound should give a flat 50% damage to all Spirits”
Not sure if you mean their passive bonus abilities give a 50% damage increase or their activated ability would get a 50% damage increase.

In my opinion, Spirits aren’t fixed until I can safely put them on my bar without a single point in Nature Magic.
+1 Very well said. Utilities should be of some ‘use’ whether traited or not.
I have been using spirits with the full 30 trait pts for awhile now. Spirits unbound, in PvE situations, can be quite useful to run in towards the enemy and proc the spirit’s active skill as soon as you’re on the enemy. Unfortunately when doing this the little buggers have decided to wander too far and one of the three ‘may’ have hit it’s mark before being killed.
I have traited them to have a higher chance to apply their passive & to have more health. When at range I try to keep them in the Healing spring but have found that it won’t help to keep them alive under AoE attacks (especially in a dungeon or WvW).
And comparing the spirits to minions isn’t totally fair. The only minion on a timer is the jagged horror that spawns. The rest do not need to be summoned constantly unless they are killed.
I’d be happy if spirits acted like minions. Instead I am managing my pet plus it’s F2 ability, and 3 spirits plus their abilities and making sure none have dropped dead from their incredibly short lifespan.
The patch was a step in the right direction, I just don’t believe it went far enough.

I have only taken my pets to the new dungeon thus far. They lasted up until the final bosses. I don’t have any points allocated to the BM line so YMMV.
I wonder if the dev’s couldn’t buff pets specifically in dungeons and only dungeons?
That way they would never be OP outside of the dungeons and have a chance during an AOE storm inside them.

https://www.guildwars2.com/en/news/linsey-murdock-unveils-new-high-end-ascended-gear/
it says there will be ascended weapons, eventually.
“You’ll also see more Legendary items in the future and an update to our existing Legendary weapons. Legendary items were always intended to be on par with other “best-in-slot” items. So fear not, all existing Legendary weapons, which are currently on par with Exotics, will be upgraded to be on par with Ascended weapons at the same time that we add Ascended weapons to the game. Thus Legendaries will remain “best-in-slot” items. All Legendary items going forward will be of Ascended power. We also have plans to add more fun ways to acquire Legendary precursor items with a more “scavenger hunt” feel than they are acquired currently. "

Think of this like an extended Karka event. At least it gives us two weeks and not hours to complete it.
I am hoping the rewards are significant since it is so limited.
I would also really appreciate a way to redo the content at a later date. If it was an issue of really good rewards being limited time, then there’s a simple fix. Run it once for your rewards and then a flag is set. Afterwards you only get normal dungeon type rewards.
Maybe I’m just dreaming/hoping here.
I am happy to wait until the bugs are worked out before jumping in. Nothing worse than almost finishing a dungeon and being kicked out for a patch.

Many people have played MMO’s that they know going into the game, they will have to upgrade gear each and every time the game gets an expansion or level cap increase. They ‘know’ when they start playing, this is the key to the issue.
GW2 was not marketed as that type of game. Most people have taken their meager earnings and put it all towards ascended & exotics to gear up multiple characters. They are not doing this with the thought in mind that all this will change when the next level cap increase occurs.
If it was clearly stated that the level cap will increase, then I would wager that most people would gear differently than they do now.
I don’t think Anet is in a hurry to increase the level cap. They are still working on balance, tool tip accuracy, & bug fixes. An increase would be a nightmare to balance if it was implemented any time soon.

Agreed on the flesh golem. He/she/it just sort of floats at the surface uselessly when you go into water and of course can’t be used.
Would seem to be an easy fix since the lesser minions are already adapted to underwater combat. Maybe it’s swimming animation didn’t work the way it was intended.

Okay I have a question for the pros. I love the longbow but in WvW I want to provide support too. I have tried to trait points for both LB and spirits.
The way our traits are set up a full 30pts needs to be in Marksmanship to get both piercing arrows and Eagle eye. No way around it.
To maximize spirits or even just make them viable, they need 30pts too. If I was to spec simply for manning arrowcarts or ballista then I wouldn’t need the spirits to move with me but I do like buffing the group with moving spirits if I can swing it.
I am locked into those 60pts.
My question is that if I wanted to put 20pts in skirmishing to reduce the cool down on bow skills, would it be worth it to drop the Eagle eye. Now the reason I was thinking this is because I have failed to get LB #1 to hit reliably, it is easy to dodge, it’s easily obstructed, and if the target moves closer it’s not going to be used. That would be something I would keep if I was going to remain in the keep to defend and just remove the points from spirits moving to put them in skirmishing.
If I am going to do a little of both defending and running with LB/GS combo then I wonder if it’s better to drop eagle eye to be able to allocate 20pts in skirmishing.

There was a thread started on this subject a while back. It got moved to the graveyard, I mean the suggestions sub-forum.
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/suggestions/World-Bosses-need-to-be-Epic/first#post1640914
The dragons are a bit too stationary and less organic than they should be. They have teeth, claws, tails…let the beasts use them.
The mechanics are there. Warriors have charge and stomp/kick. Just take that mechanic and give it more force when the player gets hit with a dragon’s swipe.
If the player gets hit with a claw or teeth = bleeding stack applied. Let the dragons use their feet for a stomp that hits the player with a nice knockdown and some damage applied with the hit.
I like the idea of different parts of the dragon having health.
Let us whittle away at the dragons. A flying dragon means it can call upon it’s adds to attack the players. If it can fly try to damage the wings first so it doesn’t fly away and the adds can’t come in. Players will focus on removing/damaging the wings of the dragon first.
Now that it’s on the ground let it use the tail the teeth and the feet to damage.
If players focus on the head for damage then at a certain level the dragon becomes blinded and lands less of it’s hits. If the players focus on the feet the dragon no longer is able to use a stomp attack that sends the melee range players flying. If they focus on the tail it is damaged and falls off hence no more tail swipe maneuvers that could hurt players at range.

Bounties can be frustrating to the point of guildies no longer participating in them. We have about 100 members in the guild and 10-15 online on average. Our guild was trying to manage 2-3 bounties per week and stopped. We now have just one.
People stopped coming to them. We failed a lot. There was communication, there was coordination, there was participation, there was little feedback from using map chap, there was even a little guild to guild griefing, but we didn’t succeed. The three I have done so far all failed due to trying to find a random spawn bounty.
The attitude has become one in which we do the bounty to give the people personal rewards and write off the merits. If we can find them we always succeed at killing them but finding them in the time limit, and hoping another guild hasn’t gotten the same bounty just doesn’t always work. Please consider increasing the time limit to finding them or remove it all together.
For the record I have activated Sotzz by mistake on a low level character killing a boar when a barrel spawned. I watched him wobble for approximately 60seconds before disappearing. I still believe that a weekly rotation of the colors will help immensely. Other than that the only other fix, and still keep the WvW requirement, would be to move the poi’s to the gate of the keeps. That won’t fix the skill point in Stonemist or the vista’s inside of the keeps. At least that would make it a little easier to get a POI.
I too became interested in WvW when I finished all the open world PvE maps and ventured in to keep going with map completion. I am at 98% on my main but being on Blackgate it could be a long while to see 100%.
I agree with both sides of the argument; those only in WvW to get map completion are taking up a spot and they don’t want to be there. Those that spent a lot of time getting their map completion already would feel short changed if the rules were changed.
Don’t forget that many people simply employed free world transfers to get their completion while many others (like myself) felt that was a cheap way to do so, and refused.
For those dead set against WvW; I suggest you run naked so you don’t rack up a big repair bill. If I’m in WvW and see a naked player I don’t attack even if it is a free kill. I know why they are doing it. Others may make a meal of you but at least you won’t be paying repair bills and the worst that happens is you have to backtrack.
EDIT: And there is the possibility that you may come to enjoy WvW. I did, but I certainly didn’t start out that way. I do like the white flag idea someone mentioned prior. But it still takes away from active WvW players that want to be there.

Didn’t ANet state somewhere that as soon as they release Ascended Weapons they will bump up the damage of Legendaries as well? I always assumed they meant they’ll bump it up to equal the damage of these future ascended weapons, but maybe they’ll make Legendaries even more powerful.
My only guess though is that in order to balance that out, they’ll also have to have full Ascended armor available to restore the armor/weapon dmg balance.
Yes they did say this. The legendaries will be the same stats as ascended weapons. They also warned about transmuting stats on current legendary weapons.
That said; I love the Kraitkin. So if I can’t ever hope to get the regular versions LB/GS/SB/Axe for my main I’ll go for that one instead.

Think about all those free trial accounts and the wasted precursors during the Karka event.
I mean I can’t complain; I did get 3 exotics worth about 8gold. But I cringe when I think about the people that only played for a few days and left with a precursor in their bag.

Those that have gotten lucky at the forge; did you throw in your rares/exotics all in one sitting? Or did you find that you had better luck/RNG if you did it every so often.
I only ask because I have only thrown 8 rares into the forge and both times I got a pearl exotic. I did it months apart.
But I do tend to throw in all the lvl80 greens I get. Probably 1000 of them have gone in since I started the first day. I found with the greens if I saved them up and did them all at once I had a poor return for rares, but if I did it sporadically or on characters that hadn’t forged in a long time; I would get rares consistently.
I know everyone will say RNG is RNG. But sometimes patterns do emerge. Just curious is all.

I’ve gotten more exotic drops this month (about 4-5) than the last 3 months. Bag drops in Orr were increased, but lazy people ran away because you can no longer afk farm everything. I run with 30% MF usually, and try to get to the major boss events when I can. I have 11 characters but generally only get to 1-2 bosses a day. On average I can make between 60-80+g a week farming for a few hours a day. Some part of that goes to making MF food, supporting my guilds influence, and spending on events I host very often on my server. About 5g actually gets used on something useful, the rest goes to events and whatnot. I don’t like holding onto my gold I guess :P But I also don’t give it away ^^
I think the average player should be able to make 1-5g/hr with a little effort. So if you play for say 2 hours a day and 5 days a week thats 10-50g a week. Seems pretty fair. (At 80 of course)
Players with more time to spare say 4 hours a day could be making 4-20g a day or 20-100g a week. Now increase loot drops for everyone, and you can see the dilemma.
^^This is one that did a lot of research in Orr and about Magic Find.

Then the November patch came and it all went away. I and many others reported our findings in a huge thread. Many equipped MF gear above 100-150% to change the rate but it didn’t help.
It seemed that the only way to get any loot drops, either trash/rare, was to have a character that could kill mobs very fast or be in a group that concentrated on the same mobs. The dev’s finally answered us declaring there was a problem with kill credit. Since that patch the drops are better, but still nothing like they were.
I have since abandoned my Ranger’s beserker gear and have given up exploring with her. The warrior I created still gets a ton more loot so I put MF gear on that character. And that is the one I run around exploring in open PvE with. Guaranteed I will double the loot, be it trash or rare, on that one character.
I’d love to see them rework the magic find in the game. Make it infused like agony resist is now and free up the stats that matter. For those that don’t plan on ever needing agony resist; they can infuse each piece of gear with magic find instead. Or just do away with it all together and increase the rate of loot drops and chance at better.
This is coming from someone who has never had more than 48gold banked, no legendary, geared up two lvl80’s in crafted exotics, and checks the TP sell price on every piece of gear that drops before merchant. The problem with making gold in the game is that unless you set out to farm for it (dungeons/Orr runs/dragons), you won’t make it.

Mine says “Oh no it got my pet” or the shortened version “It got my pet”.
OP are you requesting a cue when the pet is near death or just dead? We have the auditory cue when the character says something about a dead pet.

If I have little time, I log on with MF gear character and do the daily, then log off. If I have more time I log on to the same character, do daily, then log onto my main and go to WvW or explore some or level one of my alts.
If I get lucky, enough members are on for a guild mission, but that is rare.

Because they haven’t evolved, as humans, far enough to have morals without the threat of punishment.
Once the notion of whether an action is right or wrong has been established; most people will choose to stop. Others will simply weigh whether the punishment is worth the benefits gained or whether the chances of getting caught are high or low.
EDIT: I do advocate Anet making an announcement that an action is an exploit and will be punished for those unsure of the ‘right/wrong’

Other games just implemented a 3 step process to avoid all scams.
1- Person A puts up the item to trade in the window – press accept
2- Person B puts in the gold/item they will trade for it – press accept
3- Person A can then cancel the transaction or press accept
Done
The reason I don’t see Anet ever using the trade system is because gold selling would be even easier for those doing so. Anet would have to track all private trades and that would take a lot of resources.

Biggest thing holding me back on buying this isn’t the over-the-top price, it’s the character-bound issue.
If I could use it on any of my characters, I’d have bought one as soon as I found out about them.
Same here.
