I honestly think 2500 is a bit low though. I have just under 7000 yak kills and I know many people have way more than me as well. To put it in line with Ultimate Dominator, I think it should be at around 10k

Completely agreed, it’s exactly how I feel and what I’ve been telling my friends. As someone who mainly plays WvW, I think Yakslapper change is too drastic. 10k seems like an appropriate number (fyi I have 2,8k so)

invigoration was an amazing trait and better than elasticity with sw/t, i can’t see how you’d think otherwise :O (I mean… opinions sure, but this just feels like too blatantly obvious to me) it’s literally double the invulnerability.

I think making mantras start recharging after using the first charge is a good compromise.

Chronomancer isn’t even out, yet you already know that is overpowered and deserved to be nerfed.

You seem like a reasonable and logical guy that judges things case by case and not make up his mind months in advance without any real knowledge on the matter. Can’t wait to hear more from you in the future, each word a precious gem. /s

It’s all hypothetical, I can’t predict the future nor am I omniscient. I’m saying this (saying this is bullkitten, anet is awful, i’m quitting the game, blablabla) is on the same level of people who will defend what will be OP on chronomancer even if it would be a deserved nerf. It’s quite straight forward and doesn’t leave space for such interpretation as you have. I didn’t say it was OP???
Although I have my own thoughts on the information we currently have, I usually stay pretty down to earth and wait until something is implemented in the game to make my final opinion on something you know… like a normal human being. So yeah, calm down with the personal assumptions over misinterpretation ayyy.
Also I’m totally a logical guy :^) 0/2 assumptions.

Mantras are still perfectly viable, they were legit broken with the previous recharge bug. You could so easily spam mantras and not die; that’s not how I want the class to be played, that’s not skillful.

I kinda feel like if we’re gonna talk about “spamming” mantras, we gotta address the elephant in the room, which is MoD+CS. Which got a minor nerf with the recharge change but they’re even cutting the cooldown so you can spam it more than you used to before June’s patch.

MoR is mostly something that gets spammed because lots of builds spam conditions (blind, immobilize, burning). It was quite powerful with the old setup but it was, in fact, quite reasonable for a pure conditrash build to out-spam you in 1-on-1. Far from immunity to conditions.

I agree with you though I was not the one saying it is immune to conditions nor that CS+MoD spam is a good thing. I think MoD is fine on itself though and it’s why it shouldn’t get hit too hard, but CS is the huge culprit. I already said I want a lower % change of stun or ICD big enough.

Also if you think mesmers were veil bot in WvW, you just don’t know how to play mesmer in that setting. Mesmers have always been amazing at picking on backline and even a train shatter/izerker, a TW can be greatly useful for your group aside from veil =/ My guild doesn’t even like to run veil and we do great without it.

I agree with these changes but the mirror blade nerf has me fearing a second coming of the dhummfire nerfs that took condi necros sustained condi output and made it crap over a period of 2 years.

To be honest, before the bounce was baseline I did hella fine bursting people without the trait so I’m really not scared for it so although I doubt I hope that could comfort you?
I really don’t see the mirror blade change being enough of a change to make 1shot burst impossible. Harder to pull off from bad mesmers, that’s all

@rchu I agree with you about them ignoring big issues and nerfing unecessarily but this patch to me is the best nerf mesmer patch we’ve ever had. The nerfs make sense aside from 1 of them. And I’m highly critical of their change to PU/MtD/CD, it’s just not the subject here :o Although I think I was wrong before the nerf to MtD (I did think it was too strong but really it’s not the trait, it’s the torment+confusion combo spam that to me is just too strong. It’s a condi lockdown to which if you run out of condi cleanse, you simply cannot do anything about it)

Yes you definitely can. Seems you just didn’t know how to build for that, you definitely can play that and the current mesmer meta build is a mix and match of it with mantras support and great survivability while still dealing great damage.

Why do other mmos want less nerfs or whatever you are trying to say… Because people want it all and none of the weaknesses. People that have become accustomed or really enjoying mesmer before the fotm were doing so out of appreciation of the intricacies and interesting plays mesmer can do. Being able to faceroll is not something we enjoy (most often) and so the mesmers want self nerfs because they wanna play skillfully. I say that but then you got all the PU death clones condi mesmers that just wanna spam more condis and be stronger

It’s pretty obvious to me. I want my class to be balanced. I want the other classes to be balanced. I wanna my skillplay make a bigger difference rather than build or gear.

Well they fixed Mallicious sorcery and Mender’s Purity, but still not duelist’s discipline. Blinding dissipation and ineptitude are fixes, and I think it is a good thing. Mirror blade is an attempt to reduce the burst, so we’ll have to see how it turns out. Mantras, this is sad but I always thought this was a bug and not a feature.
The only one which bugs me is Harmonious mantra… it just does not make much sense to me. It is really not easy to keep the 5 stacks, so now this is simply worse than the previous version (4% per charged mantra I think)

like… do you people actually play mesmer in pvp and wvw? It was downright too easy to play and I’m glad it’s getting back to balance while still keeping the great changes the balance patch has given us. But whatever, people will QQ no matter what.

I agree with the concerns about the other fixes we haven’t seen and the other nerfs we need cough PU cough (I bet if it’s not before, it will definitely be nerfed when stronghold is out) and the confusion/blind spam mess ¬¬
I feel CS also needs the % of a stun to be changed or the ICD on it, it’s way too strong.

I would make PU 50% and remove aegis from the available boons. I think having aegis a close to guaranteed boon from stealth diminishes counter play to heavy stealth because I can easily perma stealth since the opponent would have to get me targeted for range or be right on me to surely land something that could stop me from going stealth again (and here I speak from experience). If you’re smart with your stealth rotation, you literally can perma stealth it currently and shatter burst reset whenever you want and personally I found that is the biggest issue with it. Surely it’s the same issue with a SA thief but I feel SA thief just doesn’t get the same defense that a mesmer can get.

Is perma stealth PU OP in sPvP/PvE? Nope, but there is a point where anet can’t say they want to keep the game balanced across all game modes and try to tie them together while ignoring completely OP stuff in one game mode.

I have seen Phantaram create 2 mesmers and not be given a torch also his food and items disappearing once he goes through the portal. It was a bit of a weird set up but I do not believe it was that big of a deal.

I agree with everything that was said from Xaylin (especially about chaotic dampening) aside from the PU trait.

You can literally perma stealth with it now. That is not good for the game even though it’s anti-conquest. (it is the most OP trait in WvW per example) You can let your phantasms do all the work while you rotate your stealth and rarely ever come out of it. Or you can go super burst and 100-0 people everytime your cooldowns are up from rotating your stealth again. It needs to be turned back to what it used to be. Stealth mesmer in conquest should never be a thing (imo) and this is currently buffing it to an obvious break of balance where it actually has a place (WvW). But at this point, why am I even bothering… OP stuff in WvW anet doesn’t care – venomshare wells cough cough

I had theorycrafted my build to use Chaotic Dampening before the patch because it felt right though when the patch hit I understood how strong it was and I can see why it needed a bit of shaving off but currently the amount chosen is very underwhelming and puts it back into the list of things that were nerfed too kitten mesmer. Please reconsider the % for recharge.

The original reaction about the NPC is to say “Thanka Anet, this is thoughtful and well done, we appreciate it!” Really can’t see anything wrong with it. The way people are handling though, that’s another thing.

Do you think the same of the reaction to Taimi’s disabilities being overwhelmingly appreciated or only when it comes to da evil gay social agendas? (here I’m just exaggerating, I don’t think necessarily that you think this way but your own reaction to this seems just as much hypocrite as you claim my words to be)

It shouldn’t need to be mentionned, I won’t disagree with that but I see nothing wrong with doing so.

Also your comparison to Logan/Jennah is illogical. Transgender is not a sexual orientation. And no one makes a fuss about straight relationships because straight relationships are seen as “the norm” E-V-E-R-Y-W-H-E-RE!

Invig was crucial to outnumbered situations. Very disappointed in our loss, no message of condolences for our grief… how rude!

I am glad they put the signet on the same cooldown as the trait; that’s logical. But the signet is just bad.

Also the GM of Illusions are kitten for power shatter unless you choose the only choice you have. Illusion of choice, ha ha what a joke right.
Ineptitude is an absolutely subpar trait and should be replaced with Invigoration.
And you know it would keep invigoration on shatter mes balanced because you wouldn’t get to pick the other power shatter trait.

And it’s right to compare it to endure pain trait; why in the hell is this still there but not our invig which really you’d want to use for distortion more often than not to save your kitten . And it made sense.

grrrrrr still disappointed in the choices made overall to the Illusions line, it needs traits to be swapped from a tier to another and put invigoration back as GM.

I understand some are speaking about these waypoints changes making sense for the new map but the new map is not meant to replace the old BLs forever and it still makes the WP in SW/SE towers to be ridiculously stupid. The distance from spawn to southern towers is completely benign. Might as well just delete those waypoints altogether instead.

I think forum specialist should be somebody with zerg, guild and roaming experience, who played on servers of diferent tiers with more than 1 profession. Maybe have eu and na experience.

i go for variety more than most and i only meet 4/7 of those -.-

I have all of those \o/ still wouldn’t be a good FSP though.

Honestly just find someone that is definitely active, that is in general accepted by the community as a good representative through his/her actions meeting requirements (aka not someone with a low rank that has only played on tarnished coast or anvil rock – ps sorry to EU) that can communicate with people and accept there will be haters and they will be targeted by having this position.

I really just want a personal arena area (in guild halls, would be perfect) that can support a leaderboard cough the day anet knows how to work a leaderboard cough and a set of rules with a locked roster (maybe even builds) at the start of the GvG. Anything else is too much to ask, they will never give a complete gamemode with all that fancy stuff with queues when they already have a problem with making it work 5v5 sPvP.

PS: Stop calling guilds that tries “kitten” just to put yourself back up on that pedestal. It shouldn’t be a reason not to try but really what the kitten does that accomplish? It doesn’t help the community grow and you know it.

Clone Death is the most passive gameplay and unskilled (imo). Robert’s arguments towards wanting mesmers to use their profession’s mechanic is on point. I disagree, it is a good thing to be getting rid of.

So far I think most of the changes are good, aside from some numbers tweaks. But I have encountered two somewhat concerns looking through the Illusions line.

  • I think Phantasmal Haste and Compounding Power should be swapping spots. Compounding Power is a way stronger trait and is more important than Phantasmal Haste for a shatter build. Even for PvE it would fit better this way (although in the grandmaster line you wouldn’t have the BEST choice for PvE than previous way of making builds).
  • Not only that but also the master and grandmaster trait choices seem very limited for power shatter. You don’t really have a choice: you choose Phantasmal Haste and Master of Fragmentation while the adept line all have good traits that will be a hard choice to choose from which is not necessary a bad thing but considering the two other lines it feels like too many good traits have been put in the same line and not enough in the others.
  • We are missing Illusionary Invigoration which is a very strong and good trait. To be honest I think it should replace Blinding Befuddlement as a grandmaster trait. If you are going for condi shatter, you will most likely choose Maim the Disillusioned anyway. There isn’t much for Glamour build into Illusions, only side traits to go for just to get this Blinding Befuddlement. I don’t think the trait should be completely eliminated but it seems to not have it’s place.
    I know Jon Peters has taken note of it and they will go back on this. In my opinion this is how it should be implemented. I also know that Robert Gee mentionned that we have a signet that has the same purpose – but that signet has a 30s higher cooldown (trait 60s – signet 90s) difference and it is not worth taking over our stunbreaks or third utility. It also has a cast time while the trait doesn’t. Maybe if the signet’s cooldown was changed to the same as the trait plus lowering the cast time and added a stunbreak on it, it would be worth taking. Otherwise I hope this trait comes back.

Nah I was doing these fractal runs daily, once every day for weeks now with my friends.

Cyninja, I don’t want an actual 100% chance of getting an ascended ring at above lvl 30 although you can’t argue with me that getting nothing is an appropriate reward for the content being played.

Also, by the time you are doing regular lvl 30+ fractals, rings are an okay reward already. Your point about it being less of a “oh I got something cool” feeling seems wrong since you’re already past that point. I don’t know exactly how eliminating the chance of getting nothing actively impacts the % on rarer items. “nothing” is a value in drop rates and I think it should be eliminated past a certain level, in my opinion past lvl 30 but maybe from Anet/others it could be a different level. It just is rubbish to get nothing at almost the top lvl fractal possible.

Yes another thread about this, yet I feel my inquiry is different. Please make it so it is impossible to get absolutely nothing from a chest above lvl 30. It’s been 4 fractals run in a row (three lvl 42 + one lvl 36) where I have gotten nothing, not even a ring. I feel like this being a possibility diminishes all the work (fun still) I’ve put in and takes away the rewards from doing fractals.

Fractals being the most challenging PvE content in the game, why is it punishing people for doing high level fractals by giving them just as much rewards as the lowest level possible. I understand how it is somewhat of a lottery and maybe I’ll get lucky this time, but not getting even a ring for a lvl 42 feels like I’ve been robbed. 4x times in a row now. =/

Simply make it so it is not a possible “drop” to get nothing from the daily lvl 30+ fractals.

Yep, tried the ports and mesmer blink is still unchanged when traited for distance. Will show as if possible port, go on full cooldown and only teleport you 2 steps forward because it cannot path. Frustrating. But you can now port easily on mid point ledges of forest.

My friends and I are testing the ports. It seems mesmer’s blink has been untouched. If a port seems possible to do (green reticle) but the pathing is wrong, it will still teleport you forward a inch or so and will go on full cooldown. Very disappointing imo. It seems actually hard to find the port spots that are now not working for thief. (mesmer really seems untouched)

Even after swapping character/completely closing down the game/relogging/etc, this bugged queue pop up will not leave my screen making my account unplayable, literally. It happened to my whole team that was queued up with me as well. I have reported this bug through support but this is kind of a pressing issue since it makes my account unplayable :O

So as the title say; Cannot preview the Chickenado finisher like any other finisher under the finishers tab yet there is a mysterious “Martial” finisher available through that yet not on the gemstore. I think there has been a mix up.

If you play another class you may notice some abilities require you to move from a single spot or even follow the target at close proximity! It will blow your mind!

There are melee builds in this game, wow mind blown! Sorry about trying to be helpful, disregard my post!

I called out the rangers for doing this the most. Every build has some sort of ranged skill that you can start attacking the engi with. I am suggesting trying not to get in range of the thumper if you can help it. It has high health, but not much range. It is some of the easier damage to avoid. If you do try to take it out, the engi will cause you a significant amount of pain with jump shot and blunderbuss, then they will just knock you away and net you. Going after the thumper is not really worth it.

Seems to be a reoccurring bug for everyone in WvW that I speak to (no matter their settings. I play with max settings as well). It’s quite problematic in case of static fields since there is no counter play to them if you can’t even know it is a static field. It just looks like another red circle – and you don’t wanna stay in a red circle thus you try to exit it and get stunned.

Needs a fix ASAP.

This finisher reset bug is highly annoying and affects everyone that pvp/wvw yet is being completely ignored. It’s not game breaking but it’s clearly not working as intended and as someone that payed for quite a lot of finishers it is frustrating.

In my opinion this is a complete mistake, there is absolutely no positive side to this. As people have already touched the other aspects I am just gonna say that this is not only negative for objective oriented gameplay: It would also gravely affect groups looking for fights/roamers. White Swords means there are people in this map. If I am roaming, I look for sentries and camps flipping. Seeing white swords on a camp is my beacon of light!

With this change in mind, scouting would become having people sit in every objective and check every door and wall all day long? That is cancerous.

It’s not only an objective oriented nuisance to take away white swords. White swords as always been used to know where there are people in the map that you could fight as a fighting guild, as a group of roamers or solo roaming. Removing that would affect negatively everyone in world vs world!!!

To be franc I think it is completely stupid to implement this.

If there ever was a thread that needed devs attention, this is the one.

This is what veterans and new players feel alike with the recent changes.
I know pouring money into this development may make it feel like you would have wasted it all (which it is, unfortunately) but the state of the game and players satisfaction is way more important than saving face by sticking to your guns.
The game is in a bad place right now and putting your head in the sand is gonna be the death of it, anet.
