this guy would LOVE me
last week i was trolling around in hotjoin with a PERMAstealth, yes, completely permanent stealth build and i was spamming dodge rolls (with caltrops) and the caltrop utility, i actually killed quite afew people with large bleed stacks lol.
honestly it felt a little bit OP, killing people without them even seeing me once XD
GW2 ESPURTZ!
i don’t think i’ve played a game with worse servers…
and i’ve played my fair share of lesser budget eastern F2Ps.
on the plus side, this is actually making me want to watch now lol
seems like a good build for maximum DS uptime, worth a try methinks!
i’m usually too attached to my wells to try another power build XD
gotta say i’m not a fan of this idea, i play hotjoin because i like the lack of downtime,
i usually only have one night a week were work or personal life permits me to have a long pvp sessions, i don’t do tournaments because i don’t want to spend 60% of that time waiting.
so to have a mandatory wait forced upon you just because your team took the lead and someone on the other team decided to leave just doesn’t seem like the answer to me, the quitter should be punished, not me!
i’d prefer that they just fix spectator and team select with proper restrictions
(or simply remove them entirely since we all know the pvp devs are oh-so busy.)
I’m betting “most lethal enemy” is now Tequatl or a Mordrem.
imho in the tequatl fight the big problem is getting swamped by adds, so risen adds probably have even more kills now
i used to run shouts but i just find even buried in conditions that banner just seems to heal more.
if you’re feeling especially trollish and there is no source of poison around you can use dolyak runes and literally just stand there while someone hits away at you doing no damage XD
i think i will give shouts another go next time i play, but banner just seems to keep me up longer.
bear for pve tanking,
cat (sustain dps)/wolf (fear+knockdown)/bird (burst)/spider (immobilize + poison) for pvp, depending on your build and what you need.
drake for literally EVERYTHING else (the cleave outways everything, and they’re rather tanky)
imho all pets should have 3 target cleave
if you are someone who thinks that necros are just fine the way they are then i pretty much state that you don’t play the class in pvp .
i’m rank 80 and have been pvping since beta, i love necro, they are “just fine” the way they are, BUT they could use a little love, imho all they really need is more effective life stealing.
i’d also say that life stealing should heal through the effect of deathshroud.
life stealing is just as much a class mechanic of necro as stealthing is for thieves,
we shouldn’t be avoiding the blood tree because one of our class mechanics is regarded by many as sub-useless.
vampire builds should be extremely sustainable. (as they were in gw1)
note i do still use blood magic quite a bit in my power build since i use traited warhorn and have a high crit chance the damage it adds is respectable, but the healing is pretty sucky.
it’ll be a costume,
2 reasons i think this:
1. anet are piling costumes out at the moment, it seems to be their main cash grab.
2. Dervish wouldn’t really have a role, what would they do? close range aoe?
so many classes already do that, there just isn’t enough things that a dervish could do to be worth adding it as a class over something like a deathknight/ unholy paladin style class.
and its all free.
Do you think they have an ingame gemstore and updates that revolve new skins because it is all free ? Think again ! I know off people who spend double the price of other MMORPGS a month
i’m a pvper so i sometimes buy new costumes hoping that a new look will breath life in to the 1 game mode and the same 6 maps…it doesn’t XD
i agree with you though, if the game is still going it is because they are making a profit, we should see more content, call me crazy but lets turn it into 2 pvp game modes?! wild eh!
the problem with the gw2 classes is that they’ve spread classes out quite far so most things are already covered in small amounts.
there is room for a Deathknight/evil crusader style class though,
themes of both a heavy melee character like warrior mixed with necromancer themes.
you could probably also pull off Paragon, but other than using spear on land their skills would be very similar to warrior lol
you miiiight also be able to squeeze in the dervish, but i can’t think of how they’d be anything more than a PBaoE class with a scythe.
ritualist wouldn’t have a place since turrets already fill the role of offensive spirit of pain/anguish/suffering etc, and ranger spirits fill the healing/protection roles.
back in gw1 they planned a chronomancer class, i can’t see how the mechanics would work, but that would be an awesome class to see. (here is some chronomancer concept art from GW1)
i honestly don’t know why they don’t release them as armours.
firstly they get cash from people buying a whole outfit for one little part.
(i know there has’nt been a single outfit that doesn’t have atleast one part i’d buy the outfit for, but i also don’t want the full outfit so i don’t buy it.)
secondly they get cash from people buying transmutation stones.
if they keep releasing outfits that don’t require transmutation stones, then logically they won’t sell as many, also every time you switch armour you require transmutation stones to transfer the look, unlike outfits.
in other words Anet, You’ll make more money if you release outfits as armours.
plus i’ll add in that alot of the costumes are already in separate parts and already have icons because thats how they functioned before the wardrobe update.

Still think they should dump soloQ and fix hotjoin (where more people seem to play). Leave team for the real competitive players.
i’m a hotjoin player and hate it when tourny players suggest dumping hotjoin,
so it doesn’t seem fair to have it the other way around, they should keep solo but also fix hotjoin to keep new pvpers from instantly quitting pvp forever after their first dismal one-sided 3v5 thanks to exploiters.
also mandatory call for 8v8 hotjoin servers without spectator/team select!
(how pvp was before Anet broke everything)
as said before, if you want cheap 0 skill “i-win” you need a turret build,
something like this (the amulet is all preference, i like zerker) simply set up at a point (far point is the best), spread the turrets a little bit so they don’t get caught in the same aoe and then just spam your rifle skils along with overcharging the turrets, congratulations, you’re a pro! XD
gotta agree with bloodgruve, my mouse only has 2 additional buttons, but the Nostromo has EVERYTHING else covered without the need to be a finger contortionist.
makes gaming so much better than using a keyboard and trying to stretch to distant keys
i’d really like to see a druid style ranger using a staff with support/cc skills
example skills:
“Vine Wall” creates a wall of vines that enemies cannot pass through until it is destroyed
“Grasping Vines” creates a sproutling on the ground, when an enemy stands on it they are rooted for X amount of seconds or until the sproutling is destroyed. (kind of like a hybrid between a trap and the ranger root elite)
“Tree of Life” creates a tree of life which will passively grant healing, regen or condi removal (or all? XD) to allies within its area until it is destroyed.
“Withering Tree” creates a withering tree which will passively apply weakness and poison to enemies in range until it is destroyed.
auto balance should stay, team swapping should go,
but while this has been talked about repeatedly and all of us players know it is killing pvp, the devs haven’t even acknowledged that they plan to fix it, or that they even know it is an issue, personally i’ve lost all faith in their competence to fix pvp.
TR;DR they won’t fix it.
if you’re after an easy-to-play alternative then you could try a static discharge engi.
not as bursty kittenter/fresh air perhaps, but a whole lot easier to playSD Engi might have burst that is a bit easier to pull off, but they usually run no stunbreaks and are even more unforgiving xd
Ele and Mes both have invulnerables and built-in control skills at long ranges to keep a ranged game, but SD has to be basically in melee range to unload.
i dunno, as for stunbreakers, i LOVE Utility Goggles in an SD build, fury, stunbreak, 10% more damage (from 10 stacks of vulnerability) also 5 stacks of might for me since i run Gadgeteer in my SD build.
as for the range its a win win, in melee you get the power of rifle 3 and 5, from a distance you get 10% higher crit chance from the “Scope” trait,
i uploaded a gif last week of one-shotting two people at the same time with SD,
its ridiculously easy to play
i agree that for the ultimate burst shatter and fresh air are probably the best, but also require alot more practice than SD.
also guardian needs a shoutout in this thread
with good timing guardians can put out some ridiculous burst,
again though, its a hard build to master
I like the idea of the rewards tracks, but in reality my inventory is just stuffed with chests and crap I don’t want, won’t use, and is a hassle to deal with. Just gold please.
pretty much this,
we all probably got the skins we wanted back with the glory system,
and if you pve you probably already had a set of exotics with the stats you want.
so these armour chests don’t really have a purpose, and the stats are always horrible.
i’d rather they just increase the gold/skill points or something and do away with the myriad of different chests filled with (mostly) useless junk.
before people say “ascended!” and “precursor!” you’d be better off trying to get a precursor in the lootfest of pve if getting a precursor is your goal,
and getting ascended gear with stats you want is incredibly unlikely, again,
you’re better off getting it in pve.
i’ve had afew ascended items, one was a healing ring, another was a celestial ring and another was vitality, toughness, healing armour. (i mostly play zerkers)
if you’re after an easy-to-play alternative then you could try a static discharge engi.
not as bursty kittenter/fresh air perhaps, but a whole lot easier to play
those staff ele knockdowns iz OPz!
next week, Forum For Dummies!
“we’re removing the ability to type on the forums, it’s confusing new players,
however, if you slide some money across the table we will let you type again.
this change will benefit us all! comply COMPLY! COMPLY!”
they actually had one for 2013 and then didn’t deliver what they said they would,
pvp ladders and seasons, regular new skills and traits etc.
don’t expect another roadmap.
I’m one of the people who saved every red cent i earned for a month in order to be able to purchase the greatsaw skin immediately after the first halloween ended.
It is VERY upsetting to hear so many people crying and complaining to Anet to give them the skins again…..
EXACTLY!
if people want it then they should save up for it like the rest of us, it’s already going to have its value hit by the 100 more that Anet are shoving in to the market.
part of my love for my greatsaw is that i’ve only ever seen one other person using it.
best 1600g i’ve ever spent!
while i think adding 100 more will deliver a hit to its value,
i’m atleast happy they didn’t ruin it completely by adding it to a vendor/loot table.

11:29 pm in the latest part of EU (uk) apparently…
this is what they call tuesday XD
well i play a power necro primarily tailored towards sustaining and recharging death shroud for as long as possible, in 1v1s with a whole life force bar (which i regen quite quickly) i can turtle my whole heal cooldown
To your benefit I’ll assume you’re using Vital Persistance. That means even if your lf pool was full before going into DS you’d lose 50% lf by natural degeneration, and only so little if you healed right before going in and immediately leaving after the 25 sec cd was up. Of course you could regen some lf while in DS but for the sake of simplifying the whole thing let’s just say your opponent in those 1v1s has to damage you for about 50% of your total life force pool in 25 seconds.
I’m sure you can see where I’m going with this by now: your opponent sucks hard.now imagine throwing in all of the healing from support eles, or healing springs or healing turrets or spam water field blasts, it would be ridiculously OP.
small heals from life syphons are ok (and would add a reason to go deeper in the blood trait tree), giving the necro a little bit more sustain.
large heals would be game changing, deathshroud becomes a fight reset button. Why? Other classes benefit from ally healing just the same. And like I said earlier, a few waterfield blasts is by no means resetting anything. What most people consider a “large heal” is somewhere in the range of 3k or more? Big deal, you go into DS with 1k hp and come out with 4k. That’s not game changing at all, you’re merely 2 hits away from being downed instead of just one.
Also, since your argument was about a 1v1 originally and then I was supposed to imagine a support player comes and heals you, you must at this point assume that it’s at least a 2v2 now. I’m sure you’re not suggesting that anyone is op because they won an outnumbered fight.
So in that situation, again: every other class always get the full amount of ally healing while having defensive abilities that scale a lot better in team fights than just a high health pool. So please, really think about it, why on earth would any of it be op for necros?
yep i use vital persistence, but also with the 100% crit chance i get from Deathly Perception combined with traited Locust Swarm and Reapers Precision,
i get 2.5% life force every second for each enemy within 210 for a total of 15 seconds.
thats close to half a bar of life force just from locust swarm,
plus i usually throw down my 2 wells before entering DS, (another 16% life force)
and the usual 14% from Life Transfer
i can stay in DS for a veeeery long time while i spam 3-4k life blasts.
all the while my health bar remaining nice and untouchable,
allowing me to be healed by anything more than the small life syphon heals would obviously be a bit over the top.
I have better things to do than to farm and grind my butt off months over months just for 1 single item skin.
and that is why you won’t be one of the people who get one, and you’re here asking for it to be devalued.
if you really wanted the “silly holiday skin” as much as the few of us who have it then you’d do the grind and get the reward, like i said, it was the most worthwhile time i’ve spent in gw2 for my favourite item, i’ve only ever seen a small handful of other people with the greatsaw so it was a grind i’d gladly do again, thats how much it is worth,
to some of us.
i don’t agree that things like water field blasts and outside heals should heal the necro,
that would be OP.Care to elaborate on that?
I really don’t get why people would want to make a distinction between different sources of healing when it comes to Death Shroud.
Every source should go through DS 100%, period.
Only allowing self heals not only overcomplicates the issue (again), but it is an even worse discrimination against necros than not being able to heal in DS at all.
Why shouldn’t necros get the benefits of ally healing at all time? Aren’t all other classes able to do so as well? Are you suggesting that if this was possible everyone would do nothing but heal necros once they see black smoke? And even if they would, do you think necros wouldn’t be the first target in any team fight anyway because of their lack of stability and disengages? If anything, necros need it the most. Also, I think most people completely overestimate how much healing it would take to really sustain a necro.
Half the time necros get those heals anyway, so we’re really just talking about a part of of those heals that are wasted on a time frame when – ironically – necros are trying to defend themselves. So the next time you’re on a necro and get focused (or you are the one killing the necro), ask yourself: how long were you/they in DS and how much hp would they have had to heal in order to survive a little longer?
And keep in mind, we’re talking about hp pools in the 18-25k range for a class that has no blocks/invuln/stealth or other means of defense but that big hp pool. In that context 1.4k hp from a waterfield blast is almost nothing.
well i play a power necro primarily tailored towards sustaining and recharging death shroud for as long as possible, in 1v1s with a whole life force bar (which i regen quite quickly) i can turtle my whole heal cooldown, now imagine throwing in all of the healing from support eles, or healing springs or healing turrets or spam water field blasts, it would be ridiculously OP.
small heals from life syphons are ok (and would add a reason to go deeper in the blood trait tree), giving the necro a little bit more sustain.
large heals would be game changing, deathshroud becomes a fight reset button.
Stuff like the scythe staff/great saw ect are way too overprices, this stuff has currently the worth of legendaries and thats way over the top for just some silly holiday skins.
i didn’t get the skin on halloween…
i farmed for months to save up (as you said) enough gold that i could have bought a legendary but i chose to buy what you call a “silly halloween skin”…
i consider it the best time i’ve ever spent for the best item on my account.
because if you actually wanted it thats what you’d do to.
it’s still obtainable for those who really want it.
how can people just be so god darn selfish!
i know right…
“i want what you have, but i don’t want to work for it.”
i keep seeing this pop up so i’ll address it again, atleast in relation to the skins,
if you look right now you’ll see that the 2012 halloween skins sell for nearly 2000g
and some of us who actually want the skin have farmed for months to buy them
(it was 1600g when i made the grind and bought one last year)
being unobtainable has made them extremely valuable and prestigious,
re-adding something like that to the game would be a huge slap in the face to anyone who REALLY wants the skin.
if you really wanted it you’d farm for months to get it like the rest of us.
if you don’t want to farm for months then you don’t really want it,
either way, don’t ruin it for those of us who have made the grind and got the reward!
You should never lose a game in hit join.
(1) hit play it now until you are on a winning team with more number than your opponent.
(2) if you ever have the chance, to autobalance, do it. This counts as a win and you get bonus glory.
(3) if your team has less players than the other team, hit spectate mode…. Wait for a player to autobalance, evening up the sides, and then transfer over to the winning team.
hotjoin cancer 101.
if only Anet would fix their kitten game.
i don’t agree that things like water field blasts and outside heals should heal the necro,
that would be OP.
but vampiric syphons could still work without making necro OP
Honestly spirit watch is fine. Just fix how lunges and super speed is unaffected by the orbs “slowness”.
Yeah, GS, sword/WH warrior is the most OP Orb runner.
sword/shield is better than warhorn for orb running, you don’t get the effect of swiftness while holding the orb but you can block without dropping it, the Warrior Sprint triat bypasses the movement reduction though
also if an engi is lucky enough to grab the orb out of combat he can switch a utility for Slick Shoes, use super speed and then switch the utility back, gets you half way to raven in seconds
the whole sentence was " these releases will feature the same content as last year but with refreshed rewards, giving you fun new festival-themed items to earn." which actually made me think it would be new items.
but with Gaile saying that it could suggest “something much loved is returning”,
i dunno, people have been asking repeatedly for the 2012 halloween skins to lose all of their prestige and value! (aka for them to be re-added) XD
i think it’ll be new items though “same content with refreshed rewards” sounds like new items, lets hope!
before the last patch? yep, too strong.
now? its still strong as raw healing, but any source of poison will ruin the warrior.
the active is weak and unlike another class that could opt to wait for the poison to end before popping their heal, the warrior can’t, poison will always reduce his healing.
the adrenaline nerf fixed the stacking with Adrenal Health,
the stacking was a huge issue.
warriors are killable now.
“Refreshed rewards” seems to suggest something new or something much loved that is returning. In either case, it sounds good to me!
noooooo! that last bit scares me!
don’t devalue the 2012 skins!
(speaking as someone who dedicated months to farming to pay for the greatsaw under the impression that it was unobtainable and as such, worth the farming!)
game overflowing with terrormancers, lets nerf the only viable power spec.
honestly did you just set up sticky labels with random traits on a dart board and throw a dart at it?
“i’ll try to get that nerfed today!”
(edited by Liewec.2896)
So basically you run around trying not to die while your pets do all the work?
you just summed up every AI build ever.
also for the OP i wouldn’t dream of making a MM build without Training of the Master.
its like making a power build and deciding not to take a trait that gives you 25% more damage.
even the minor 3 point trait that turns 7% of power into healing synergises perfectly with Cleric Amulet’s high power and vampiric mastery which makes you minions deal more damage based on healing power via life syphon.
imho the best MM will be 4/0/6/4/0 until something changes, it seems to do everything well, the damage is far more than someone should be doing with cleric and your regen makes warriors jealous
(edited by Liewec.2896)
You could play Archeage, It’s free to play and awesome in every way
Inb4 Infraction
Countless
lol i mentioned that game afew weeks ago and got infracted for 2 weeks,
Heil Anet!
Liewec,
removing / fixing team select and spectator mode does not prevent 5 vs 4 situations from happening.
sure, but it would happen less, and when that 4v5 happens everyone wouldn’t just camp spectator and wait to join the winning team.
people would be assigned to teams as they join (as it used to be), and spectators would only be allowed to join the losing team regardless of if they both have the same amount of players,
the choices would be join the losing team or don’t join at all.
this would encourage them to actually join rather than cowardly waiting to join the winning team, meaning less 4v5s.
although it could result in 4v5s in favor of the losing team, which imho could be a good thing.
ofcourse they could take the time to put in some "if"s such as this rule not apply unless the winning team has 4-5 players.
regardless, it is incredibly discouraging that NOTHING has been done to even try and fix it.
we can put out as many ideas as we like, they won’t fix the issue, ever.
they just need to remove or fix team select and spectate
removing would take no time at all.
improving them with restrictions shouldn’t be too hard either,
leaving it to fester in this toxic condition is just evidence of their total and utter incompetence and lack of caring.
Next week, we will talking about Killshot on warrior.
God I hope you take some English lessons in the meantime…
i cant stand comments like this, how bigoted can you be to assume that English is everyone’s first language, he could be from somalia, and i guarantee he types English better than you type somali.
Rune of Ambidexterity
1) +25 Power
2) +5% Attack Speed increase while Dual-Wielding.
3) +50 Power
4) +5% damage increase while Dual-Wielding.
5) +100 Power
6) +10% damage increase while Dual-Wielding, 10% attack speed increase while Dual-Wielding.
ENOUGH!
there seems to be multiple of these put up every day.Its already in the game, very easy to add it back… its an amazing army set (and we need more of them) thats why you see it, its not yet been addressed.
yes and i’ve said repeatedly that as a pvper i’d feel cheated if they re-added our only unique past reward but pve-ers dont get their (far more than pvp) exclusive past rewards readded.
it’d be better if they added more sets rather than bringing past content back.
its a brilliant change and definitely needed, imho all necro life stealing needs to get the same treatment!
i agree that gw1 necros had more of a necro feel, the MMs were perfect,
no corpses? useless
lots of corpses? necrotic overlords!
also vampire builds were viable, life drains in gw2 are weak as weak can be.
the class however doesn’t bend over backwards, it can still preform well, it just doesn’t feel very necroish, it feels like a retake of a standard spell caster class with green particle effects.
warrior is the ultimate berserker class, and therein lies the fun for me
My definition tends to differ; a glass canon thief is more of an “ultimate berserker” than heavy armour, highest HP pool warrior IMO.
i’d say glass cannon thieves are more assassins since they play by landing a big hit and then retreating/stealthing.
a glass cannon warrior is still fairly squishy but focuses everything on damage and gets stronger the longer they stay in the fight, that seems more “berserker” to me
i dont even take stances just so i can have the bonus stats and crit chance from signets for more dakka. XD
ENOUGH!
there seems to be multiple of these put up every day.
