Aren’t people who want to run with no MF’ers just as bad?

LFG [Boss name here], must not have MF gear. Behavior segregating people is bad no matter which way you look at it.

except wearing MF gear kittens your fighting capability, where as normal gear does not, be it more damage or less damage recieved.

MF does nothing to improve your fighting chances.

Hey Folks,
So what did we do?
We selected three specific sub-bosses throughout each dungeon chain and developed special drops for them that are influenced by your character’s Magic Find.

While everything else sounds awesome, this part really disturbs me. There is already enough disdain for magic find mechanics and the fact that players are, in a way, forced to wear sub optimal gear in order to get a better chance for worthwhile drops. Making this specific change you also make us wear magic find gear in dungeons where it completely messes up class balance.

Since MF gear (at least so far) is limited to power/precision and, with Mad King’s set (which is no longer obtainable) power/condition damage, it completely exclude builds that are build around other stats, not to mention the runes that are huge contributor to overall magic find.

Of course we are not forced to use full magic find sets, but I doubt many will be as bold to ignore the possible increase in chance, no matter how small.

not defending the system but you can get Pow/Cond/MF from CoE explorable tokens.

Heals dont have a cap, i believe there was a tactic of having zergs ball up with guardians built for healing and since aoe dmg caps at only 5 people in the zerg with enough healing you can complete negate all damage coming your way.

pretty comical.

it currently isnt ingame, if it’s added it’ll be related to the Dungeon with Jormag.
and yes it will be a player-worn armour, concept art for it has shown the Female version, and there are no females in the Son’s of Svanir or Icebrood.

HoTW Exp is very fun.

but dungeons are easy.
and AC is well known to give you atleast 50s per run of each path once a day.
you only need to do 5 dungeons for the whole month.

you can yes but nothing in the current dungeons calls for anything more than 1 guy to take the brunt of the beating and 4 guys dealing damage.

for example Mesmers have alot of Boon Removal yet i havent had a single boss fight where i’ve thought ye Boon Removal would be handy here.

the 3rd party article was a little off on it’s wording, it even called the Kodan, Koden.

nothing in the Anet blogpost says anything about being stronger than exotic, give it a day or so until Anet clear things up.

becouse lvl 80 exotics will be crap

GW1 had the same max level through every single expansion.
the Max-level gear also always had the exact same stats.

there was no gear grind, except for cosmetic skins, this is what people expected from GW2 especially with the marketing and promises they made.

it’s the wording of it that’s the issue.
hopefully Anet will clear things up, but im in agreement with Alcopaul that this will only effect things like monster skills in dungeons and such.

otherwise this could be a disaster of a design decision.

only paths 2 and 3 have underwater sections path 1 is very loot friendly.

no it’s because he died, over and over.
and how in any way is muscle memory skill, thats no different than me never taking a single hit from Subject Alpha because i know exactly when to dodge roll.

the only way your ever going to get true difficulty out of a boss is if the boss is random, the fight is chaotic to the point where you cannot guess or predict what’s coming next.

if you know what’s coming, and when it’s coming it’s not hard and it never will be, why else is WoW PVE so easy these days? because addons do it all for you, it’s not that much different from GW2 tells.

Artifical Difficulty in another form, that’s all.

i can confirm that completing a 5th dungeon in under 2hr’s hits you with the DR and you get 45 tokens rather than 60.

so thats 4 full rewards and 1 nerfed.

Dark Souls is just artificial difficulty though, you learn through dying, theres nothin remotely difficult about it, i’ve even seen a japanese guy kill one of the bosses with nothing but his fists.

it’s better this way, it prevents people from taking advantage of the changes before they are made and it makes sure people dont whine about stuff that was promised but wasnt added.

Crude yes, unless im missing the Heart vendor who sells anything better.
and for gathering tools i believe there are a few vendors in orr who trade for karma but having to go all over to round up some tools is a pain in the bum.

Karma is pretty useless at level 80 once your geared and not interested in a legendary.

there was once a time when you could buy Salvage Kits/Gathering Tools with it in LA but alas this was apparently un-intended.

I usually don’t jump on bandwagons, but I’ll take a seat on this one.

I’ve only seen all the story mode dungeons because I just wanted to experience the content. The dungeons have not been interesting to me. There’s not a single one of them that I want to return to.

Contrast this with Sorrow’s Furnace in GW1. That was a VERY popular dungeon that people ran over and over and over. Devs need to recapture that desire with unique drops and a complex dungeon design (meaning: you can get lost + it took a long time to get my head around how SF was pieced together).

Finally, LFG tool. Getting into a hotw story group tookittenerally a week of me spamming in LA and just standing there waiting for a guild group to advertise for one more. Most people would have just said “Kitten This.”

unique drops are being added to dungeons, probably with the 15th nov patch.

it’s been in the works for quite some time now.

any good developer knows full well to never reveal patch notes ahead of the patch itself, there are many reasons for this.

yes many of us would like to read them ahead of time to see what’s coming, but there are many problems with such a method.

the change is designed to remove the random element from the precursors which is the ONLY way to get them currently, be it world drop or MF.

so far he has promised the Legendaries will still remain rare, nobody wants Legendaries to be easy to obtain, we just want a way of obtaining them without playing with the Mystic Toilet.

all of these routes are very quick if you know what your doing.
there’s also CoE 1 depending on how good your party is at getting over the lasers and fighting the endless waves of Golems.

essentially path 1 had a mechanic that spawns wave after wave of mobs, this was avoided by many players by simply keeping 1 enemy in the wave alive, have someone kite it around near the waypoint area out of harms way, this prevented other waves from spawning, this was considered an exploit and has since been fixed.

however the original problem was not fixed, the waves of mobs are insanely tough to kill and now you have no way of preventing the next wave from spawning making this route absurdly difficult, more so than it should be because of a silly mechanic and the oversight of actually fixing the problem in the first place by making the enemies weaker in the very least, bringing their massive HP pool down.

Path 2 afaik hasnt been touched, it’s not particulary difficult but it does take a fair bit of time to complete.

just avoid Path 1 until the devs change something hopefully for the better, do 2 if you need the achievement but if your after the Tokens just farm path 3.

Path 3 is easy, 2 is long and boring though the last boss is atleast somewhat interesting.
1 has gone through a series of changes that have essentially made it pointless to even try to do it without a specific group/setup.

just do Path 3 for the time being.

some speculate it’s endless, and yes i mean endless.

Even GW1 had challenges that were endless and just got harder and harder and harder to the point where it’s impossible for you to complete it.

Factions introduced this system, you would farm them for competiting scores/faction points.

in Nightfall the Challenges rewarded you with an item that would give 1 of your heroes their unique armour sets and the droprate for such an item got higher and higher and higher as the difficulty increased which was the perfect system for farming.

Sorry, I was thinking of exotics with previously unknown recipies, not precursors.

dev’s stated there is no 100% recipe for the precursors, there is no source of them creating such a recipe in future, ergo not true until proven otherwise.

i dont expect the devs to reveal the recipe if indeed they added it this way, but they have not said they will be adding such a thing as a recipe.

it says nothing but the fact u can use 3x lvl 74 or less items and 1×75+ and get a precursor as the OP has described in his method.

you just again have a lower chance because the MF has a bigger list of items it can spit back out at you as opposed to using all level +75 stuff.

Yes they did say level 74 rares DO NOT reward precursors, I even PM’d Linsey Murdock about the case, and she confirmed that level 74 and below rares DON’T reward precursors. (I can post evidence)

please do because i already know your reading the reply wrong because a friend of mine got the Spark from using 2 godskull items only a few weeks ago, long after the change.

but 74 rares do reward precursors and a dev has never said they DONT, the chance was just fixed after the whole Godskull incident that caused the precursor mess in the first place.

your chances just go higher when you use higher level items as you limit what the MF can spit back out at you.

DM is the hardest thing to get in this game but that’s not saying much at all because the vast vast majority of stuff is easy.

as for the topic at hand, it’s nothing but luck, theres no tactic to this at all, people have been discusing these issues for a long time in the Crafting Forum.

It’s because AC and CM gear was originally level 60 and 70 exotics, so they were cheaper. They changed them to be level 80 exotics so they would be a viable option at 80 instead of leaving AC and CM as completely dead dungeons, but they left the token prices the same.

you missed the point completely.

the issue here is some items have the wrong price tag and is inconsistent with every other dungeon vendor.

all items should have the following costs:
Helm 180
Shoulders 210
Chest 330
Gloves 180
Legs 300
Boots 180
giving a total cost of 1380 tokens for a full set.

To Lorna, if you could show me how to do that or direct me to a video of that I would really appreciate it. I looked around a bit but couldn’t find anything.

we found the trick was to teleport into the wall just to the left of the Door, from there teleport further to the left as you basically bypass the invisible wall around the door itself.

once your inside the wall it’s possible to use charge skills aswell as teleport skills to get you all the way through, the key again we found was to aim for the left wall rather than the room and the game will budge you across, we used an Ele’s Magnetic Shield for this.

there is a way to teleport through the door via teleport skills, Thieves are best at it with the ability to spam their Shadowstep ability on the shortbow compared to other proffesions.

Arah in general needs alot of work though im guessing devs are busy working on the new dungeon & the new loot system over this atm.

hell Arah is locked for half the servers all the time anyhow.

Instanced zones such as dungeons and Story Missions give you several hours before being booted.

this system has been discussed before, it’s far better to any other server system where the servers are taken down to apply any update meaning you cant even play.

if you were kicked before your time was up then that was obviously an error and not intended.
