Dungeon armor is about the looks. The looks will still be there so dungeon armor won’t really change.

not true, dungeons are a great way of obtaining exotic gear for alts both stats and looks making money in the process.

[merged] Level 20 Scroll --> +20 Level Scroll?

in Suggestions

Lorana.2468

the problem here is, they added an item that is given to everyone upon every 5k AP points & once your characters reach 1 year old (multiple characters multiple scrolls) which is useless to alot of people now and sooner or later becomes useless to everyone unless your constantly adding new classes/races to the game which i highly doubt is going to happen.

if it was changed to a +20 levels item, people wouldnt have a problem with it, because you can still use it on a level 80 for skill points if indeed you dont have any alts.

it’s not that strong an item anyhow, again everyone gets these things, they are extremely limited (remember this is a once a year thing besides the Apoints) and it’s nothing 2 crafting proffesions to level 400 wont get you within 30 minutes of crafting.

you are correct, still im honestly not a fan of the npc version of the armour.
they already changed the orrian heavy to be less desirable, not exactly wanting them to change my offset either.

although if it’s a new set entirely that’s added then i cant complain since it wont affect me.

Deadeye can reliably give me gold for the time i put in to kill him.

i’ll agree that he gives way to much gold for the speed at which you can kill him when you know what your doing, but the fact that there is now a farm ingame that doesnt involve any luck of any kind is perfectly fine for me, even if it is temporary.

i did the entire gauntlet on a guardian in Knights gear, Chomper & Strugar gave me the most trouble, the dog being immune to immobilize on a class with almost no cripple was pretty rough.

i also farm Deadeye often on my thief, this is one aspect arenanet did right, they made the Gauntlet tied to your account not your character so if your struggling on a particular encounter with one class you can play another which is what i did when i went for the more interesting achievements involving gambits.

the gauntlet actually brings me back to gw1 days, using a build specifically designed for an encounter be it raptor farming or what have you, the good old days of 55monks and such.

the real issue with the gauntlet is that it gives you way way way more gold than anything else ingame, it is however temporary.

the skills are fine, blame the devs for making almost every encounter anti-melee where even thinking about going into melee range will most likely get you killed.

if the devs knew how to not just give every add more damage and hp then we wouldnt be having this issue.

Warriors, thoughts?

in Community Creations

Posted by: Lorana.2468

Lorana.2468

Warriors are weak in PVP, expect nothing but buffs coming.
the issue with them in PvE is that the AI and design of encounters is flawed.

Mobs do not avoid big bursts of damage or any kind of AoE, the only two that come to mind remotely are Dredge Bombers and Flame Legion Rangers, most people probably wont notice.

this means chanelled abilities like Hundred Blades are able to dish out extreme amounts of damage because the mobs do nothing to avoid it like a player would in pvp.

Boon Removal is useless, there isnt a single boss fight where you can take good advantage of this feature for proffesions like Necro/Mesmer.
the 3 bosses that come to mind for Boons that can be removed are
CoE Golem
Ginva the Butcher
Flaming Effigy

all 3 bosses share the exact same mechanic, the boon is applied from an outside source, be it a totem/turret or crystal, boon removal is useless because the boon you remove is reapplied almost instantly, infact it makes much more sense to bring raw damage to destroy said outside source to remove the boons from the boss, bad design.

Poison is mostly wasted, 4 bosses have noteworthy healing in this game
Subject Alpha
Lupus/GL
Flaming Effigy
the infamous Simin

Lupus steals health on many skills but poison is never something you really consider because such skills can be avoided rather easily.
Flaming Effigy was nerfed long ago, his healing is nowhere near the level it used to be.
Simin is famous around these parts for her ability to heal, both her and Subject Alpha are 2 fights i would definately consider bringing poison for, neither are needed but they certainly are a good contribution to the fight.

the problem isnt warriors, the problem is there is no reason to bring anything but Raw damage to a fight so everything dies quicker, for those of you who played the Beta Weekends you may remember that enemies actively avoided AoE abilities, something was changed since then and this is the aftermath.

take a look at WoW, each class has a defined roll and it may or may not change depending on the fight but bringing atleast one of every proffesion is almost always going to go in your favour, no such thing in this game, why would i ever bring an Engineer to anything (yes i have one at 80).

So having run CoE many times over these past few weeks my group cant help but notice, 1 Alpha Essence always escapes from the final Alpha fight regardless of which path you choose, it’s invulnerable so you cannot stop it.

it could be a bug but we cant help but feel Alpha could one day return, anyone else noticed this?

would be nice to see Alpha return stronger than ever in the future.

guardian too indispensable in dungeons/frac

in Guardian

Posted by: Lorana.2468

Lorana.2468

the benefits of a guardian far outweigh any benefits of other proffesions

Rez skills? who goes down when a guardian is tanking all the damage
Ranged Damage? no problem i got the best projectile defence in the game
Need to Group up mobs? i got what you need
want to make sure enemies dont run away or chase weaker players? i can do that too.

the Guardians only real weakness is ranged damage, generally speaking the damage you do at ranged is determined by how much you can reflect, looking at the fractals the only boss you would likely see a Guardian go ranged on are in the Grawl Fractal and Smite is one of the best skills for removing the boss’ shield because of it’s massive 15 hits on a low cooldown granted they can and will be shared with the elementals if they are near the boss.

im not saying our melee damage is absolutely amazing either, but thats not what the guardian is there for, you have 4 other party members to fill out and im pretty sure most of them will be built for dealing damage.

Why do PvE bosses seem to equate to...

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Lorana.2468

Lorana.2468

How is this any different from other MMOs? You are basically doing the exact same thing, mashing a few keys and moving out of the way of damage.

Except in other games, you have well-timed boss fight mechanics that add interest to the boss fight.

Take the Jade Maw as an example of a boss done right.

There’s a decent amount of time between each of the Maw’s attacks.

The only suggestion I’d have to improve it is: Make the “you’re targeted” notification more visible on the targeted player’s screen to ease confusion. Like maybe some text on screen to state “Quick! Grab a crystal!”

The fractal boss fights are definitely an improvement over the dungeon bosses. (Granted, I still think other games manage to do better at boss fights… but it’s a good improvement.)

if you think Jade Maw is a boss done right then your experience of Boss fights seems extremely limited.

this game has only 1 really well done boss fight, and that’s Lupus in Arah, the fight is so well done that a dedicated enough player managed to beat him solo.
Subject alpha in CoE is also another boss whom requires you to pay attention to the fight, but he has the tendancy to bug out and not do anything half the time.

the rest of the bosses are for the most part nothing but punchbags that drop loot.

What happens if precursors are easier to get

in Crafting

i was under the impression people dont want them easy, they just want a 100% surefire way of obtaining one.

you could throw 4 items into the forge and get your precursor
you could also throw in 5 million and not get it.
this isnt a good system at all, i’d rather kill 10,000 of X enemy because atleast then i know after every kill i progress towards it and not just praying for luck to go my way.

in Crafting

Lorana.2468

I have done AC a number of times to earn a nice greatsword, but I was unaware of CoE dropping charged lodestones. Doesn’t it also require an event to be completed before it’s available? It took me forever to finish my personal story (the first time) because of the Arah event requirement. I will have to check out how often my server has groups doing CoE.

it does have an event to unlock the dungeon yes but it’s nowhere near as long as the Arah one.

the class balance in dungeons

in Fractals, Dungeons & Raids

Posted by: Lorana.2468

Lorana.2468

the majority of all content is built around Guardians and Warriors right now.

for example, very few enemies actually run or kite players, the only ones that come to mind are Dredge bombers, because of this a warrior built for Hblades has very few issues in killing waves upon waves of enemies because they just stand there and take it.

way back in BWE3 i distinctly remember that enemy AI avoided AoE, i would drop Radiation Field on my Asura and enemies would refuse to stay in the cricle, they would leave the circle as quickly as possible, this meant i had to do something to keep them in the circle, but now w/e they did to change the AI means skills such as Cripple/Chill/Root are mostly wasted on enemy ai it’s just a case of
>Binding Blade
>Stack AoE fields
>Collect Loot
>repeat

shame really because the ranger elite Entangle is absolutely amazing for keeping enemies bunched up, but because they never run what’s the point.

stop farming sparks, start farming CoE.
although the drop rate could use a small boost in CoE the difference in drop rate between Sparks and CoE is massive still.

Farming CoE 1 up to Bjarl takes about 20 minutes in a good group.

well the issue is nobody supports better than the guardian, and the Mesmer is one of the other elite supports to have because of Timewarp and other shennanigans.

if you’ve truly got bored of both, i would suggest the Elementalist as they can fill many supportive roles.

in Fractals, Dungeons & Raids

Posted by: Lorana.2468

Lorana.2468

i dont mind dredge, initially the switches part is annoying but after that it’s sweet sweet miner bag loot, dredge may be annoying to fight but they definately give you good rewards for killing them.

consider a mesmer for their amazing Boon Removal abilities to combat dredge boons, or a Thief with Bountiful Theft, it wont remove boons as well as the mesmer but it will apply those very long duration boons to your party, a mesmer also brings Feedback if you lack a Guardians projectile defences.
