Zhaitan is very, very huge. I ripped dragon models (with textures) from gw2.dat and animated them in Cinema 4D; that picture of Tequatl’s and Zhaitan’s size on wiki is my render. If you guys want more renders of Zhaitan in comparison with other dragons (or with an airship we are fighting on with Zhaitan), you can tell me.
That model is really beautiful. Its really a pity that we cant see Zhaitan very well in the game. After his death, they could make an instance where we can walk on him or something like that, that would be wonderful
BTW: the model’s wingspan on wiki render is 446 metres. In comparison, model of human from game data is 190cm tall, The Bifrost is 205 cm tall and an asura is 124 cm tall (4 ft.) (from wiki: “an asura is usually about four feet tall”), so it sounds like its a real size.
This is hardly different than a thief teleporting in most scenarios. You wait until the last possible moment and move and A stomp is wasted. There’s prescedent from that aspect.

Because if you’re fast enough you can still teleport to where the thief went (steal to them works).
This is a small slice of a much larger issue though. There are several tiers of downedstates. Ele > Thief/mes > Guard/ranger > War/Necro/Eng. They go from 100% can not be stomped on the first attempt regardless of numbers down to… can be countered with blind, block, stability, two stompers, person/pet/tiny rock in the way… it’s clearly far from balanced.
When I play thief I wait until people can’t react quickly enough to teleport, even if you try to anticipate it you can’t get the stomp off, maybe it’s server lag.
To stomp an ele on the first go you have to be a stealth class so they never see it coming.
You can’t measure the downstate on defense alone. The ele has one of the weakest offensive downstates. Measure the down state in it’s entirity.
Or they could have already used steal or not be fast enough. It could be several things but there is a solid counter to it.
Being a stealth class won’t help unless they never see you at all ever and don’t feel the need to use mist form. I wouldn’t call that a solid counter.
195+ 10svuln 1/2s cast time isn’t too bad.
x5 755 damage + immobilize + 10s bleed again not too bad
Do you really find these skills so subpar to where it warrants ele having the only 100% get out of stomp free card?

Even the dev’s at the time said that ele had the strongest downed state when they made the 2<->3 swap change.
Yes, numbers maybe sounds nicely. but. As ele, if you are dueling with someone and both of you end in downed state at same time, there is no chance for you to win. I experienced this many times and I never won in downed state duel.
The current living story is about Scarlet. We havent known about her very much, but in this patch many things were revealed and Im actually very excited about how it ends and Im definitely looking forward next patch!
Took a while but i think i finally understand what went through the developer’s mind when he created that code in scarlet’s lair. It’s a pretty interesting message and i think it gives us clues about a possible expansion:
I suspect the next Elder Dragon fight will be open world. It will be a large fight that will utilize some of the techniques that were originally used in these initial large scale battles.

first of all there are indeed people like you casuals, but also people like me hardcore, why everything should be about you and not me too? second 2 bosses and maybe fractals that i consider the only hardcore content is only 5% of the whole game, everything else is for casuals. complaining about that is just selfish
Very true! people are forgetting that there still are hc players who want hard things to enjoy the game. The new world boss style is lovely, its hard, but its epic. Or do all people want Zhaitans fight style bosses? me not..
BTW Its not that hard (for casual player) to guest on a server where Tequatl is slain every day 5×.
agree..also eles vapor form is bugged that it does nothing and goes on cd, thats too a class bug and should be repaired as fast as possible

Experienced this many times, mainly in fractals, vapor form tends to fail when used. It simply does nothing, your character stays lying, however you see 20 sec cooldown. This happened to me rly many times and always killed me.
This bug is similar to bug with conjure weapons (which has been fixed), when you casted a conjure, but nothing happened and you could see the cooldown.

I agree. Focus is a great defensive weapon and Im using it more and more (althrough firewall is really bad skill). If we are talking about useless skills: how about scepter water 2 – shatterstone? incredibly high casting time for absolutely nothing. 4 Vulnerability for 15 sec is maybe interesting but thats just a condition which can be (and will be) removed after no time.
happened to us too. Luckily it was just 2nd fractal so no big time was lost, yet it was annoying.
The logic is because we have various ways to clean conditions and heal ourselves back up. Hp by itself is a lame stat if you don’t have ways to keep avoiding damage or recover.
You dont have that many condition removers if you go dps build (however I had decent before cleansing wave nerf). Yes we can heal ourselves back up but necro has life steal and death shroud instead. He should have lowest base amount of hp right like eles or eles should have high amount.
And I keep avoiding. Perma vigor, cantrips, Im trying to avoid the most of dmg, yet its useless against condis, which I can barely remove with DPS build and with so tiny hp its just impossible to stay alive.
I cant get why so low hp. Yes, we have water attunement, but thats just very little heal, if you compare it to necromancer: necros have highest health cap. They dont have water heal as ele, however they STEAL LIFE (comparable to water heal, maybe stronger than water heal) + they have DEATH SHROUD. Seems legit!
Thiefs has same hp as elementalists, but they have more condi removals and plenty of stealth, so they are still well viable.
And now, after cleansing wave trait nerf (ANOTHER NERF, FFS!), we have a stupid little amount of condi removal and still the lowest hp. Its almost impossible to kill necro in spvp. Yes I can use diamond skin but then I will suck against other classes… no solution.
Can anyone explain me that lowest hp logic?
this is so unfair! Guild mates who play medium and heavy could cheaply buy their mats, now they all have asc sets. WE with kittening light have to farm golds or materials and wait daily to craft that stupid imballanced damask…. Really great ballance really

I have Fractal capacitor with dire stats, but now i decided that I dont want dire anymore, I want berserker stats now. Now I created Prototype fractal capacitor (with zerk stats) and upgraded it to ascended, so it has the stats I need. The problem is I want the look of Fractal capacitor (that shiny, fully upgraded).
The question is, if I transmute zerk stats from Prototype fractal capacitor into the Fractal capacitor skin, do I lose Ascended infusion slot? I really dont want to put another 250 ecto for upgrading the prototype to beta again, just because the slot will disappear:/
If they added dwarves to this game, they might as well add elves, hobbits, and Sauron. Fantasy is more than just dwarves and elves and I, for one, I’m thrilled they’re not in this game. The only two MMOs I accept them in is Lord of the Rings and DDO, because I feel they have a right to be there.
But the rest of the fantasy could do a lot better than trying to copy Tolkien. Better writers have already done so.
Dwarves are already in Guild Wars lore.

Im using S/D. 30 in air for fresh air and 30 in arcana for evasive arcana (to have blast finisher and condition removal – conditions are real pain for me). Now with Cleasing wave moved to master tier, my ele is again nerfed as hell, since that trait was very, very useful and I cant use it anymore. I was hoping that elementalist will finally gets somewhat boosted in this patch (its called balance patch), but sadly, its not true. Its nice that they added some interesting traits such as diamond skin, but it really isnt nice that they nerfed existing things! Im just directed to use new builds and cant anymore use my favourite build I was happy with. now i have 10 in water and adept traits here just sucks hardly. What can be as good as cleansing wave? stupid 4 secs of regeneration which has 10 sec cooldown? No, I dont need a few hp more, I just need that condi removal that is reliable in very fast moments. Now my elementalist is even more useless. Thanks so much!

They just want to nerf, nerf and nerf ele. Elemental attunement, Renweing stamina and Cleansing wave were usefull – “Nooo, ele cant have useful things! lets move it to master tier!”

I play from start, and got nearly 10k. Did almost every daily and every monthly. 40% of my all AP comes from dailes and monthlies. So its really about how long are u playing. Another very big amount of AP comes from living story…U just have to play the game often to obtain high AP.

Yep, legendarys should be hard to obtain, there should be something very big that one would have to do for them (except farming and ability of buying the mats). something that not everyone can do.

Berserker: Power>precision-crit dmg
Assassin: Precision>power-crit dmg
Assassin sounds pretty good if u go for max precision. You can achive 100%crit chance with fury. I personally think it can do more dmg than berserker, which has more base dmg, but has less often critical.

I tried your scepter build and its totally something different. The damage is gorgeous. The traits are a bit similar to mine though so it will be easy for me to get used:)
I would try that dagger builds but I just love scepter skills too much.

I dont really think that. You can apply dmg conditions only with fire and earth and u are not all the time in those, you just need to swap. And if u use scepter, air is most used attunment, so no conditions applied at all. And if u apply some burning or bleed, the enemy can really quickly cure them.
I play my homemade dps build with my ele (S/D, mostly full dps but still traits for some earth and water defense advantages in tiers1) but I feel its very underpowered, in comparison with other classes. Before I can do any burst , I have 50%hp while other class just spammed autoattack and some 2 other skills. I thought with this build I will have dmg enough and with insta vigor and evasine arcana will win easily, but it just sucks too hard. Its just so hard to kill someone, while other proffesions can kill me without any pain. So I assume my build is somehow wrong.
Any ideas for the best build for ele where which in terms of difficulty to kill someone would be balanced with other professions?

I think that this kind of fight as it is against Tequatl would better fit to guild mission (perhaps part of bounty, challenge or introduce new kind of guild mission), which would contains some difficult bosses require some difficult tactics, not like those bounties as Tessa, Poodaboo etc. but something similar to raids as we know from others mmos. World bosses should be a little easier in compare to this new Tequatl. I would enjoy fight against the Tequatl more with my guild personally. After all, isn’t this game called Guild Wars? Just my opinion.
I agree, it would be definietly better if it was some kind of guild raid, but I think it would be hard for them to make Shatt and Claw guild bosses while they have their events in world. Anyway it would be cool if they make new dragons to be guild raids (but maybe there is a problem with non guild people or guilds with small amount of people).

I am a bug dragon fan in games and your dragons have the most epic design I have ever seen in any game. But the easy fight with them just ruins the epic feeling of them.
Thus I really love the new Tequatl fight. Finally something really challenging!
Before the patch Tequatl (and the other bosses) was just a noob, lame, that provided me some daily loot. All people just jumped in and without any fear attacked that noobish dragon. So boring! But now, I feel some sort of epicnes from that dragon, some respect and finally a challenge. Thats something I really missed about GW2!
It would so awesome if you revamped The Shatterer and Claw of Jormag too. Heck, they are champions of ELDER DRAGONS, they just must be hard as **** to beat! The Claw of Jormag fight is much better than Shatterer but its still a guaranted win. They look so cool yet they are so poor. Please, revamp those mighty dragons too. Also add some special rewards from them. For example I totally love that you made mini Tequatl. Just imagine a mini Shatterer . Or Claw of Jormag tonic!!

Many people are suggesting that tequatl should be instance raid boss, because its hard to get on organised server/overflow – its full even hour before tequatl arrives. Or its full of afkers or unorganised people and tequatl fight is just waste of time. Guilds with just around 50 players are trying to do tequatl (since event is scaled by number of people near the event), but they cant, because there are 100 another people who doent know what to do.
A simple kittenion would be making your own overflow with a password. It would be something like instance (which are people mostly suggesting like I said above), but still on world map. Guildies or people on TS would easily create their overflows. That frustrating thing when you have to wait a hour before event starts would be gone, along with annoying people spawning on turrets, ruining the whole fight (or another unorganised people).
If they atleast said that they will work on it, it would be fine (for me). Maybe it would take a month but we would know that we can look forward it.
We have this issue in our tracker, but unfortunately I don’t have any sort of ETA on when it will be fixed.

and what the **** you want for such an easy battles? The rewards corresponds pretty much those bosses. They are super easy. You just need to stand at them and spawn skill 1. Sometimes you kite something, but you dont even have to. Boss is down in 2-4 min and you get guranted rare and strongboxes, thats a low reward? Sigh. Gimme gimme gimme, right?
