It is funny when all these “Thank you” posts comes from people that have spent zero dollars in game and requesting more updates.
Allie, Don’t you think we are due a response about this even if it’s to tell us where you guys are up to?
It’s completely ruining the tournament.
“Dear customer, we are looking into the issue. Please stay tuned.”
What else do you expect?
I would also like to do a Guild CDI soon.
Chris
What’s a guild in GW2?
It will never happen at this stage of the game, but would I pay $### a year to ANet to fix the bugs? focus more on the core of the game than gem store living story? upgrade their servers to reduce WvW lag? ban hackers? add new dungeons and stuff? Improve the rewards? Fix TP and gold inflation? Don’t apply RNG to everything in game? delete the gem store completely? Improve PvP and WvW and PvE rather than spending 6 months on feature patch? yes I would happily pay a sub fee.
One precursor or ten precursor, it doesn’t matter, because you know why? it is just a game after all.
Some people are sitting on 300k-1 Million golds and 20 precursors and they never stepped in a dungeon and some people like myself play 3k hours of WvW and sitting on 10 golds. I would consider myself lucky if I even get an exotic drop worth 1 gold…That is just how the game works….
It is better to be rich and successful in real life than be rich in a virtual world.
(edited by Zylonite.5913)
My excitement for this patch just went from zero to zero….That is all I have to say….
I had no idea PvP players made that much gold….
EOTM is not a solution! I want to be in WvW with the rest of my guild NOT with a ton of pugs.
Well wait in the queue then.
I have to agree with the OP. I am sorry but if this is called a feature PACK patch then what do we call an actual feature patch where new things are introduced?
Yes, the game is moving towards the right direction but all these changes should have been done (finalized) on release and not waste players time and specially the valuable developer’s time on re-working the game so that these changes can apply.
There is just too much hype for these changes and the reason for it is that the community has been on their knees begging for these changes since release day and after 2 years and a thousands CDI, we finally get something we have asked for….
I understand the amount of efforts that go into these things to do it properly but why make the wrong decisions when introducing something new and then spend 6 months figuring out how to fix it? That precious time can go into something more valuable to the game and the community.
…but enough has been said, enough hope has been shattered, and enough players have been tired of waiting.
The excitement is only a small light shining from a cracked door on a old piece of rug that is covered by dust….
(edited by Zylonite.5913)
In the large 80+ zerg battles, the servers drop down the calculation/processing to exotic level so that there is less overhead. So it makes no difference. For roaming solo it might make a difference but skill comes first.
I wonder why it took 6 months and why keep so many people on their knees for so long.
If there are no special changes in WXP other than merge everything into one pool, then why it couldn’t happen earlier (like 6 months ago or when WvW XP was intoduced).
I want to feel excited but somehow I can’t even if I try….I think a side of my WvW has already died from waiting for this change to happen….
I wonder what will be the outcome to this thread? It is obvious that everyone have been experiencing the same issues since WvW seasons or even before that….
I play a lot of online game such as BF4 and what needs more precise network/packet server side processing than sniping someone in the head from 500 miles away and the bullet still registers to the head while the enemy is on the move on a 64 player map with vehicles /jets and etc…
I suspect only one thing here, the servers basically cannot process all the packets and things get queued up on the server side. For example my healing skill is now in a queue and that queue gets nested in another chain of queues and eventually lost until some code resets the queues!
I think the only solution is to increase the number of servers or upgrade them to faster machines. This is expensive but then there is no other way really….
Because 1 + 1 = 3
- Skill lag. Can’t heal, can’t switch weapons, can’t attack. (can last up to 10 minutes or until I die)
- Blackgate
- No. When it happens to me, I also see a lot of msgs on the map chat from people expereincing the same thing.
- No.
- Usually when a lot of people are around. Example SMC fights.
- around 30 players in each zerg. Total 60-80 players.
It is more frequent on reset nights.
Also worth mentining that my frame per second drops to 5-7 fps from the normal WvW 30-40 fps. In PvE I get 80-90 fps.
My network connection is 100 Mbits fiber line and my machine is 8 core AMD 8350 with ATI 7970 running of a Samsmung EVO 840 1TB SSD.

As much as I appropriate the account bound wardrobe change for skins and dyes and understand the efforts that went into this change, I really don’t see how its a major feature patch.
This is something that could have been done before the game was released and save the dev’s time so they can focus on actual features such as expanding the map, introducing new ways to get higher tier gears, a revamp of dungeons/fractals/PvP/WvW?
I want to write a comment but I am speechless….
But the graph will not raise upward forever…
You know who’d disagree with you? C C P.
Well there is always exceptions…..GW2 is not one of those though.
To be honest GW2 is at its peak right now and people are still buying gems, otherwise the living story idea would have been scrapped long time ago…
But the graph will not raise upward forever…
ANet marketing is smart. They know this and they are OK with it.
As long as there is revenue through gems they will support the current model.
All these CDI and other stuff are just an illusion of someone might be listening on the other side…
(edited by Zylonite.5913)
I don’t know, maybe ANet already gave up.
Even the main discussion forum is hardly moving anymore. Yeah, yeah, all those people are enjoying the game instead of wasting time on the forums… Sure.
People are bashing ESO, but it is a RPG with roles, that are not bound to classes, that is what I actually expected from GW2. And it has a whole new story to tell, not just junks of crap every two weeks. And AvA, it blows WvW out of this plane of existance.
The funny thing is, I won’t even buy it, but others will. The combat is slower, but that is not a bad thing. It feels like combat, not like spamming 1, 1 and 1 again.
Nah, the feature patch will bring some minor features, maybe some guild stuff, if we are lucky. They do not even hype it, as they know, people would just be disappointed anyways.
I am curious how this game will be getting along with all the competition ahead.
+1
If anyone could actually read the dev’s question, this world would be a much better place.
He is asking for suggestions for improving the in-game communication through the UI
Adding VoIP is not a feature in the UI.
Team Voice Chat! <3 <3 <3
TS3 already exists and most servers and guild use it.
Yes cuz there is clearly no value to having an in game voice communication? Let’s get everyone in solo queue (or soloing team queue) to type in a new server every match. Or continue to harm teams because one person isn’t able or willing to use a 3rd party program for w/e reason. (Lag, crappy comp, needs to update, ect.)
Let’s have everyone not in ts to use an awkward vague ping, or leave them to type when certain things roam or float.
“But the mutes aren’t going to talk anyways” k well at least they can listen to strategies instead of players crossing their fingers hoping to god they are reading chat.
Clearly the communication is fine as long as we have a 3rd party programs.
With all the server lag issue and legacy net code used in GW2, I highly doubt we want to add VoIP overhead to the servers. It won’t happen so it is waste of time talking about it here….
Team Voice Chat! <3 <3 <3
TS3 already exists and most servers and guild use it.
What can the game do to improve communication between teammates in-game through the UI?
if you talking about PvE 5 men groups then it is fine as is…
If you talking about PvE large 150 map group events like (wurm, scarface, teq….), then you need to send some ANet devs with red commander tags leading the events instead of some random PvE commander who bought a tag 100 golds, shouting in map chat and telling everyone what to do…
You make the game the way you want us to play, they you have to have the resources to lead us on how to do it instead of throwing random boss fights at us….
i want to press a buttom and talk to my team mates like any other game in 2014
Nobody likes getting yelled at…so no….
depending on how much it takes to rank up after you level 30+, the reward chest seems a bit too low.
Only 1 tomb of knowledge for PvE levelling per chest for each PvP rank is way too low as a reward considering with glory you can get almost 10 tomb of knowledge per rank as of right now.
(edited by Zylonite.5913)
The stuff in the gems store is fine but the problem is the inflation and the gap between the community.
We have the gold farmers and the TP flippers who are sitting on 30k to 200k golds which drivers up the gold -> gems.
And then we have the causal players sitting on 10-500 golds, mostly saving for something or invested in something and don’t want to pay the high gold -> gems exchange.
This model works for Anet as the causal players spend real money which some of it becomes gold in game and drives up gold > gems.
Would you complete the living story bi-weekly patches if they had no achievement points?
EotM was the big one which manages the queue problems. Course queues aren’t nearly the problem they were when season one started.
Yes, the position in queue is fixed now and EoTM should help with hours of queue.
So let’s discuss what has been fixed since season 1 and which aspects of WvW has been improved in preparation for season 2?
I think WXP merge is still in talks to make it free or not. I mean if you have to pay 800 gems to merge the points between toons into one, imagine the amount of profit that would make….
It is not really a bug to be fixed.
They will give us account bound WXP before the season starts, and then they will “hey, see we do work on WvW and give you guys excellent features”….
The event itself teaches players how to play.
- The Watchknights teach you that you cannot deal damage to them without the correct calibration, which is similar to the atunements you later receive.
- The player must receive all three atunements and gain Prime Light to enter the fight. They become familiar with this without being taught it.
- The NPCs aggressive revive everyone on the fight if someone does make mistakes.
Why is your version of “how to play” in a spoiler tag then? What I meant was to give the players information in advance how to do the fights.
So how do we all rate the end of LS season 1
in Battle for Lion’s Arch - Aftermath
Posted by: Zylonite.5913
I could rate it if I had any clue what the story was about…..
I killed Scarlet finally, but no idea how she ended up half dead on the floor in some lab….
Also I am never found out who she was or why she attacked GW2….
I agree with OP. There hasn’t been much changes since the release other than the living story stuff.
If the core of the game (outside LS) doesn’t interest you, then I suggest moving to other games because the living story contents will not stop any time soon due to the fact that it is heavily tied with the gems store bi-weekly items.
Polite PSA to Anet RE: server population
in Battle for Lion’s Arch - Aftermath
Posted by: Zylonite.5913
I am on Blackgate and have yet to see Blackgate’s none overflow map during Teq, wurm, scarlet and now LA living story.
So I am not sure if it makes a difference because you can play in overflow like everyone else….
Wouldn’t it be nice to get some kind of in-game information on how to fight these living story bosses such as the knights?
Here is some suggestions:
- Show a cut scene with the event’s boss showing its tactics/attacks.
- Have some NPCs explain what we should do and how to play the event.
- Some kind of message on the map chat telling us what to do at each stage during the fight (already kind of there).
- Timer should beep or flash when it is about to expire.
last but not least, the most preferred way imo:
- Have the devs in RED commander tags leading us in the event.
Anet, You want us to play in certain way then you lead us……
Now with the community disappointed about the recent patches, talk of server merges due to lack of numbers to complete the events, doubts in the quality of your work due to 4 patches in 2 days and still bugged evets, etc, how this will end?
How can you win our hearts back ANet?
4 patches in 2 days means they are responding swiftly to bugs as they appear, instead of letting them sit there for a while.
Well the patches was to nerf the loot and buff the knights. The other bugs are still not fixed.
Here is the thing: Nobody asked for the living story and nobody asked for PvE zerg content.
ANet brought this upon itself and risked a lot here.

(edited by Zylonite.5913)
So it might be just me but I have been noticing a trend in WvW lag, and whenever there is a zerg content in the PvE land, the skill lag in WvW increases. The skill lag was almost all gone some months ago after the WvW season 1 had ended, but now it is back.
Does WvW run on the same servers as used for the PvE living story contents? Because if the servers are trying to process 300 players on EBG and then another 1000 on one PvE map + the overflows then this could lead to more skill lag in WvW.
However, there is very little skill lag in PvE even in 150 zerg fights, so I could be wrong…..
i’ll tell you this right now:
no content at all will be bug free in any game***
things happens, it’s hard to see how/know ~ bugs pop up when there are a ton of people trying to do the event. a lot of the time bugs pop up unexpectedly, so stay calm, tell them about the bugs that pop up, and wait for a fix.
That is true, glitches can happen, games release without being properly tested, bugs that are hard to find, etc.
First of all, if a game releases with this many bugs, I would be a fool to spend money in that game or even buy the next release.
Second of all, we are not talking about some small game developer company that release their first game. This is ArenaNet with a massive MMO at hand. The expectations are different than other game companies like EA, etc….
Third and last, This game is almost 1.5 years old, the content should be already polished and QA’ed to the full before release. If this happened at release, it would be totally fine, but the game has aged and the devs should know their game by now.
I think it is too late to be complaining about the bugs and etc. A lot of people have already got the meta and have moved on.
I truly wish ANet has the courage to come out on the forums and publicly say that they rushed the content, they didn’t intend it to be played the way it was designed at first and then they changed it without giving it enough thoughts, the lack of communication on the fights to the players, the bugged bosses and loot, was all their mistake…
I said this before and will say it again: Don’t try to change the way we play. We play the way we want and if the content forces us otherwise, the #1 the community might grow apart from each other, #2 The player base might get tired of the game’s limitation to change the way they want to play versus the way the developer want the player to play.
I participated in every living story until today, and this was truly a shameful ending to all that effort that the developers/designers/writers/etc put through.
And as something to make up to the community, they should give 800 gems to every player in the game….even the AFK ones…..
(edited by Zylonite.5913)
Welcome to GW2 reward system. I think if someone is playing GW2 for the reward then they are playing the wrong game.
I never forget when I was helping a new player running a dungeon for the first time and he got dusk from the final chest while I was stairing at my blue GS loot (When I asked him, he said that he only had like 20 hours into the game while I had something like 1.2k hours. )
GW2 doesn’t reward you for the efforts that you make. Meanwhile you can hop into the gems store and buy stuff there that are not RNG. isn’t great?

While I appreciate finally getting a response, honestly it’s too little too late. As with all LS content, after the first few days when most players get their achievements the number of players doing the events drops considerably. If you have not gotten all the achievements in the first 2 days, it can be almost impossible to get them after that time due to not enough players. This is true with this update as well. Players now do not care about the achievements, now it’s all about farming the loot so those of us who have not gotten them all by now are out of luck.
I myself stopped doing the events as I saw no point in it. achievements now out of reach, no loot dropping, story already finished so why continue beating a dead horse?
I now just log on, do my dailies and log off as there is nothing left to do. I am sorry, but the ball was dropped on this and there is really nothing you can do now to fix it. At this point I have no hope of ever getting the rest of the achievements and I am not going to even attempt to get the super rare power cores I have heard of because I just no longer care.
I agree with this. Almost of the living story contents are highly active only in the first 2-3 days and then people stop playing it once they have thier achievements. So as time passes, it becomes much more difficult…..

Let’s stick to the QA side of things.
(edited by Moderator)
2) Anet has 300 roughly employees. If they focused more attention on campaigns and less on LS, we’d easily have an expansion already, much like we had 2 after only 1.5 years after initial release.
And where do you know from where they’re allocated and what projects are they doing?
Isn’t it obvious?
For god sakes in 1.5 years there has HARDLY been any xpac worth content.
This
In 1.5 years, we have had:
- One TA new path dungeon (very nice long path + actual content).
- SAB 1 and 2 (temporary content but not bad for anyone who likes JPs. SAB 2 was buggy).
- Two new fractals (re-used from living story. Kind of nice I guess).
- EoTM (mostly dead now since it didn’t get any attention).
- Holiday festivals…..re-used every year from the previous but not bad I guess.
- Some mini games….
- One new world boss (wurm) + re-used dragon world boss (Teq).
The rest are just re-texturing some parts of the maps and spawn some champs called living story…
Personally I think the team that created the new TA path should continue to make the contents…Even if a new dungeon brings gems store items, people might be willing to pay for it more than 2 week temp gem content cycles.

So I thought RPG MMOs are not so linear and you can actually have some choices? Why the only option was to finish her off? I had some questions from her before I ended get life but I wasnt given a choice!!!
all fixed in the latest patch…
Zerging alone in EotM is more fun than running with guild in ESO.
Lol. You mean the two PvE’ers that are running in EoTM?
