whats the point of even traveling if i can get level 80 gear in the begginer zone? Sounds like a pretty desperate attempt at recycling old content to me)
Well, traveling to other zone would allow you to… play other zones.
your statement makes no sense at all… the fact that you don’t feel need to explore the other zones to experience their variety means they’re recycling content? what?
If i am just as good as every enemy i approach. They should just do away with the level system altogether.
You’re not. You only get downscaled in PvE, not upscaled. walk into a level 30 zone with your level 15 character and you’ll quickly see that levels matter.
I don’t think this game is for you, you don’t seem very interested in appreciating the content for its own sake.
Northern Shiverpeaks
why not simply research it a bit?
Probably because it’s a super obvious troll?

Everyone with an interest in PPT WvW already plays in T1
the self importance in this post is strong.

Guild Wars 1 didn’t ever seem to have a problem with matches being even. GVG, RA, TA, AB… name any part of the PVP aspect and it’s pretty much all pointing to the thought process in GW1 was better.
yes… because matches with less than 30 players and that lasted under 20 minutes are a really good comparison to a week long match with hundreds of players across several maps… they totally face the same challenges.
also, Jade Quarry and Fort Aspenwood both had big problems with uneven teams.. so gw1 PvP isn’t the perfect paradise you think it is.
Northern Shiverpeaks
I think some are putting too much importance on the ability to disengage.
You have to examine if it really helps you achieve your given objectives? or is it more a simple desire to “not die/lose”?
what’s the virtue in being able to escape a fight/situation you analyze to be un-winnable, versus committing to it while accepting the end result will be your death?
When I solo-roam with my Necro and I see a larger group coming my way, if I think I won’t be able to escape, I just dive in and and tie them up as long as possible. It’s a different kind of harassment than what a stealthed thief might deliver but it has its own benefits given the situation.
different classes/builds roam differently, that doesn’t make them inferior candidates for roaming, it just means that to excel you have to know how to get the most effective use out of it and play accordingly.
Northern Shiverpeaks
as someone who plays with a g600… I really don’t understand your idea.
.. why do you need this non-intuitive input scheme? what actions aren’t you able to map with the regular schemes?
not counting mouse1&2 you have 16 buttons, 27 if you use the shift button(and 80+ if you cycle between the 3 set-ups)
Northern Shiverpeaks
you’re totally out to lunch Fluffball
2 years of solo roaming with a necro and the one class I have zero worries about taking on one-on-one is rangers, everything else can be risky depending on player skill and build.. but rangers? free bag.
Mesmer is definitely my greatest bane and I usually avoid contact, everything else I can go toe-to-toe and hold my own.
Northern Shiverpeaks
were you under the impression that bleeding is not viable?
the cooldown is important as some skills can trigger multiple crits per second, and that’s the shortest one there is. most of the other on-crit triggers are 5sec or more.
Northern Shiverpeaks
Binding the quality/quantity of rewards to the number of participants in an inverse relationship is a really bad idea that would lead to a very toxic community.
one of the core tenets of the devs is “you should always be happy when another player comes to help”.
Northern Shiverpeaks
Faulty premise, Anet doesn’t work directly on the Chinese version of the game.
Northern Shiverpeaks
As I unexpectedly discovered there is a limit on the number of “joins” at the time.
How does this limit manifest itself?
it’s not really clear what you’re talking about

Your theory is all and good until you have to wait two, three weeks for a chance to finish
Waiting 2-3 weeks is really nothing.
have some patience, getting world completion is not a race.
Northern Shiverpeaks
all the same things you were doing before you hit 80.
the only real changes are that certain zones are level 80, so you’ll be at level parity when you go there, and you have full access to everything in your build(that unlocks based on level).
but from a gameplay perspective it doesn’t change anything.
Northern Shiverpeaks
I seem to recall that people were using the sonic tunneler to hide under the landscape or to evade attacks by going underneath.
I don’t know if what you said was true or not but I highly doubt this happened.
It’s true, it was also causing a lot of glitches with various gates.
Northern Shiverpeaks
Anet should announce active player numbers
How do you define what constitutes an active player?
Northern Shiverpeaks
for those that don’t get why the other players’ reaction was warranted..
picture a basketball court, a league game is about to start. as the players line up for the tip off, a stranger wanders on to the court and asks “hey, what is this, it looks fun, can you teach me how to play?”
.. you don’t think everyone on and off the court will shout at him to get off the court?
now picture that stranger sitting down in the middle of the court for the rest of the game because “ppl were mean to me”.
Northern Shiverpeaks
I just lost a weeks WvW rewards (week 1) after putting 60 hours into a loss.
You played 60 hours in one week, but you couldn’t take 2 minutes to logon once the following week?
sure, things come up, but come on… anyone that can devote 60 hours to a game in a week has to have a pretty easy-going schedule lol.
Northern Shiverpeaks
Jax:" That has happened in other tournaments but Anet know about it so I don’t think that will happen this time, and anyway who wants to win by cheating, that wouldn’t be fair."
you were wrong to say that.
it’s not cheating, Anet is fine with it and it’s perfectly fair.
that’s just how every 3 player/team game works out.
Northern Shiverpeaks
Did they actually say we have one half of Season 2, though. Or are they just calling this a mid-season break?
“mid” meaning middle, meaning between two halves =)
though halves are not always equal.
Northern Shiverpeaks
Til recently we were able to acces our bank and guild bank accounts on the borderlands through the guild masters.
But with the last update, you silently patched it away.
Why A-net??!!
because it was a bug and we’re not meant to access our bank through a guild master NPC

Besides making your posts immediately recognizable as your own.. the formatting really isn’t helpful. A little goes a long way but your overuse of it actually makes your posts harder to read.

dynamic caps for population would be much much worse than ones for activity.
it’s all the same problems only with more permanency.
Northern Shiverpeaks
If the content is fun and engaging, of course.
If the content isn’t fun and engaging for someone, why spend any time playing it?
will a “better” reward retroactively make all that game time more enjoyable?
Northern Shiverpeaks
Or go 12-12 split instead of 6-9-9……
the bigger the leagues, the more unbalanced the matches can be.
Northern Shiverpeaks
I think you’re missing the issue.. when I mention participation going downward, it’s a mechanical result, not a player motivation one.
a dynamic cap only limits ppl from entering, not leaving… so as one servers starts losing players, the cap lowers. It would only go back when all servers in the match have parity, which is pretty unlikely outside of primetime.
edit to add: there’s also problems with dynamic caps allowing servers with a lead to drop participation once they’ve built up their defenses, lowering the cap to make it harder for other servers to take their objectives.
Northern Shiverpeaks
(edited by GrandmaFunk.3052)
the enjoyment of doing the content is meant to be its own reward, if you did all that 11 times just to get an extra reward.. you’ll never be satisfied with this game.
Northern Shiverpeaks
boosters, consumables, guild bonus?
Northern Shiverpeaks
If you read my suggestion above, I laid out a way of letting players choose their server whilst keeping each servers population relatively close together.
I read your suggestion and soft/dynamic caps have been discussed plenty of times on here.
they simply do not work as they inevitably force participation/activity downwards, unless the allowed gap is so wide that the cap itself becomes meaningless.
Northern Shiverpeaks
Reallocate guilds to random servers in even number distribution.
That doesn’t really work because even if all the WvW servers had a set, equal number of players bound to them, there’s still no way to guarantee they all participate in even numbers at a given time.
you simply cannot balance player activity.
Northern Shiverpeaks
if you felt the need to rush to 80 in a week, this probably isn’t the game for you.
your priority was grinding to 80 the fastest way possible.. of course it won’t be any fun, you’re not prioritzing fun.
if you want to enjoy this game, find the content/modes you enjoy playing and play that. the levels will come on their own as you play.

It’s been requested many, many times.
It needs to be restricted to PVE and the Heart of the Mists.. absolutely NOT allowed in WvW or inside PvP matches.

your favourite restaurant gives a free cake to anyone celebrating their birthday there.
you’ve gone there for your last ten birthdays and loved every minute of it.
starting this year, people celebrating their birthdays there will now get a free cake AND a free toy.
is your first reaction to storm in there to complain that they now owe you 10 toys?
Northern Shiverpeaks
You are only catering to new players.
seems like a valid approach when talking about the initial part of the story.
Northern Shiverpeaks
Anyone know why conditions are shared between players?
Performance issues and difficulty scaling.
Northern Shiverpeaks
-Allow all characters on an account to craft for one another. Add an option within the Hero Crafting tab to select which character to utilize. Keep all the level restrictions dependent to the character with the crafting skill active(IE: a lvl 500 weaponsmith on a lvl 40 would not be able to craft any items with a lvl requirement greater than 40). Grey out all items to signify no leveling while using the features on a sub character.
This seems awfully convoluted for not much practical benefit.
Northern Shiverpeaks
…after watching the guild mag interviews…
1). Cut out the " I don’t knows".
…
2). Having people talk about parts of the game they don’t even work on is a mistake.
… But the dev who made this comment is a wvw dev. He has nothing to do with this at all.
So… in the context of interviews like the one in question, how do you reconcile #1 and #2?
they were asked a direct question.. about something they don’t work on. you don’t want them to say “i don’t know”, but you also don’t want them to answer if it’s not within their area of focus.
situations like these (and the massive overreaction that followed) are exactly why they’ve communicated less and less over the past two years.
no matter what they try, they can never win.
Northern Shiverpeaks
Here’s how silly it gets, my guild literally tries to jump on the dead bodies in order to try and taunt more players into coming to fight us
That’s a really counter-productive thing to do.
with mega-servers, ppl can’t drop back to LA and make a rallying call for help, so all you and your guild are doing is making it less fun for the opponents that DID show up, which is more than likely to just make them leave.
Northern Shiverpeaks
As for WvW meta, it’s already horrible, you cant make it worse. And it’ll make things more interesting as players can get out of combat and change their build to suit the opponent.
changing your build to suit your opponent is exactly the problem.
a build is a series of choice, it creates strengths at the cost of weaknesses. being able to toggle at will to move them around effectively removes the strategic aspect of build making. when you don’t have interesting decisions to make, all you’re doing is going through the motions.
there’s dozens of threads that have already gone very in-depth on why this would be the worst thing to happen to the game.
Northern Shiverpeaks
For WvW alone we have have 3 builds we may want to run at different times. But it’s a bit of a hassle having to carry all your gear in your bags, and then have to swap them out one at a time AND THEN having to change your traits for that build!
That hassle and the time it takes is important.
quick swapping full builds on the fly, even out-of-combat, would have a huge impact on how WvW plays out.
it would result in an absolutely horrible meta.

1.38 months. Closer to 1 month than 2. Nice try!the finale doesn’t end today, it starts today.
if you want to calculate how long the half-season lasted, you need to know when it’ll end.
That’s like saying that your TV show doesn’t end on the date the series finale airs. It does, just not ‘till the credits roll, like they will in an hour or two when I’m done with this episode.
Which is my point. the credits haven’t rolled yet, the episode just started.
if you’re legitimately “done” with all the content from a release after an hour or two.. well, that sucks for you, you probably shouldn’t skip so much stuff.
Also, if you consider the length of a release to be “how long it took me through rush through it once”, then this half season hasn’t lasted a month either, it would be an 8 hour season.

would be nice to see something else in game that makes gold that isn’t strictly scripted dungeons, is what is being ribbed at.
And that’s another problem with the “hardcore” crowd.
they ask for content, but what they really want is a reward generation tool.
just look at what content is popular and receives a lot of replay: whatever generates the most rewards for the least time/effort, not what’s fun or complex or engaging.
Northern Shiverpeaks
but your overall quantity of content isnt enough for such a audience
For the audience you’re describing, there’s no such thing as “enough” content/replayability.
Even if they did release 10 times as much content, there’s still a portion of that group that’ll finish it in 2-3 days and then complain about having nothing to do.
Northern Shiverpeaks
If you want Hardmode for a bigger challenge, just downgrade your equipment.

I can confirm that jumping puzzle chests reset with the dailies, not on their own 24hour clock.
I normally opened them every morning before work, but whenever I’ve played in the evenings after reset they are available to be opened again, even though I opened them only ~12 hours before.

Necro’s transformations are great, but suffer from the disabled AA.
Haven’t used Lichform in a while but plague form pulses on it’s own, you don’t want AA, and DS lets you set which skill you want to AA.
Northern Shiverpeaks
The Necro ones are very useful.
the only one I have a problem with is the moa-form, I wish there was a way to get turned into one in the mists to practice those skills

AP in my opinion measures how seriously you take this game
No, it measures how seriously you take achievement points.

I have a problem with my install that has taken a good deal of effort to fix(and at the time I am posting this is is still affecting my high level characters) The simplest most effective fix at this point would be simply to
.. reinstall from scratch.
having a mod magically relocate your character’s position won’t fix corrupted map data on your system.
