I’ve always interpret that statement that the game allowed level advancement through various play styles. You can see this in all the different activities that award XP beyond bopping critters on the head. Crafters can level gathering and crafting. Explorers can level uncovering maps. The game’s co-opt nature means players who want to help strangers can without negatively affecting the player they are helping. Also the lack of a split XP and loot pool promotes socializing.

It’s not just bonking things in the head until you reach max level and then raid for BIS gear.

I’ve always viewed that as part of it as well, and it makes sense. You can level up doing pretty much anything, and gear was like that too before ascended was released.

^This. Part of the initial appeal of GW2 for me was how easy it is to get max stat equips (exotic back then) by just doing essentially what I wanted (whether it be dungeons, crafting, wvw, open world exploration etc). They really messed that feeling up for me when ascended was introduced.

earnings report is out, GW2 is trending down in terms of US and EU, but contributing to royalties. Wildstar is out performing it, but not by much for a new release.

Personally i figured this would be the case, My perception is that the game essentially needs some big expansion like content (i mean new zones, modes, professions, weapons) to revitalize the NA/EU market, there is only so long most people can play the same stuff.

As for the the number 7 stat, its good that people are still engaged enough to log in once a month, but that doesnt tell us much with a buy to play mmo. It would seem a different type of datapoint might be more relevant.

To be clear, GW2 is still doing adequately well in earnings, its still the number 3 earner for ncsoft. Its just that it is getting closer to the lower earners, blade and soul and aion.

Whenever a new patch is deployed it’s also likely that people go online to check it out only to go offline for the rest of the month 5 min after.

Or people just doing their dailies. Not that it’s a bad thing – it’s what B2P appeal is anyway. Is it profitable enough to keep the game running and updated as frequently for more years to come? Remains to be seen.

I’m not a PvP player by all means and have no idea what goes on there so I figured I’ll just ask here: do you have to be physically present in the tournament to have a chance at getting the glorious hero set? I have no idea how the tournament of legends/glory/whatever rules go.

I don’t know about you guys with your weird contemplation that these skins are way better than their legendary counterparts(I seriously disregarded the comments on greatswords), but all I have to say is that the design and form of the chaos skins is just not unique in their shape, but not in their effects. But everyone is different, and people are more willing to just pay attention to the effects of the weapon, and disregard the shape of it overall; take for example, people who buy skins like Vision of the Mists, and weapons similar as such. I for one think the chaos staff looks alright, but the tormented staff suits my liking better, but I like the ley line staff better than the tormented one because of all the effects it has. Likewise, I hate the chaos greatsword, and hate the ley line greatsword, but I like the tormented one, and also the phoenix one. The list can go on. Though I will say this, I like the chaos weapons over the silly/feminist looking legendaries as well. ^^

Yea the default townclothes (tonic ones) are for commoners.I don’t have the heritage armor sadly, I think it’s the closest we have so far appropriate for an event like this.

Seriously? These are the classiest particle effect weapons we’ve had to dare. The fact that they aren’t tacky unwieldy shapes is what makes them so great. I for one don’t care if they are reskins over level 1 starter weapons, because frankly the starter weapons are more tasteful than most of the rest of the weapons in game. And wow, the dagger actually looks sharp, unlike most of the thick rambo knives in game.

You know what would avoid suspicion? An appropriate attire for the event. I mean, who would trust someone that looks like this (1st picture)? Or worse: like that (2nd picture; might as well have cursed a child to eternal sleep)… I wish we had more “town clothes”-esque outfits like the nobles are wearing. Considering my human mesmer is a noble too. No wonder they don’t trust me.

My favorite weapon set so far.. I’ll probably reskin my Twilight and Bolt with the Chaos skins as soon as I get enough tickets.

Personally, the Chaos line is my favorite weapon skin set so far. I like how it’s simple yet elegant. I wouldn’t be opposed if it gets more love but I’m satisfied with how they are now.

Well, it’d be a convenient way to kill him. I’ve been eyeing that sword of his for a while now.

This is one of the “new” battle mechanics that they absolutely have to refine. It’s very clunky to fight using those crystals. So annoying.

I have to agree with the people who dislike having jumping and aspects forced on us as the only way to progress in LS S2. I have no jumping ability, and this will effectively lock me out of LS S2. I started a thread about this in Living Story /Discussion, which may get moved here. Not trying to be redundant, I just posted it in the wrong place.

What about people that have slow reaction times? They have been having issues with more or less every release.
Or people that are colorblind might have had rather major issues with quite a few segments due to not seeing AoE circles and such.

So it’s ok to alienate more of their playerbase because they’ve been doing it before?

Just contact CS, if you want a refund for your gems because the clipping issues werent visible in the preview window, when you bought it.

For those that are unaware of this feature with outfits, you can toggle off gloves/shoulder/head piece by toggling off the corresponding armor piece. Also, the Ancestral Outfit doesn’t come with a “head piece” so if you leave it toggled on, your regular armor will show. I don’t know if the dragon around the neck is considered shoulder as I haven’t had a chance to get a close look (I don’t have it yet) but if it is considered “shoulder” it’ll disappear if you toggle off your shoulder armor.

Marionette was better because not only did it point the players in the right direction, having more players on your lane was a good thing. This event scales poorly in comparison, and telling people they aren’t welcome to join you and look for another boss for whatever reason is just poor by design in gw2 standards.

I personally think the cat tonic is cuter so I chose panda.

Personally, my favorite so far is the lovestruck set… :/ I’m not a big fan of the color combination of the phoenix set although I do love the bird motiff

Warden used to be the best but I concur that the bug at the moment makes it unreliable. I personally prefer the duelist because of the range.

I’m hoping the release of the backpieces pertaining to the gods is a hint of them coming back… For now, the only ones missing are Melandru’s and Kormir’s. Maybe when they’ve all been released we’ll see the resurgence of the six along with the new dragon?
