You can replace invention with alchemy …. it is really strong but you lose speed …. it is a choice . I found invention better for going solo .

it is not strong as meta scrapper but i find it quite viable for normal level pvp .

i tried the same build with berserker and perhaps it is better. You lose 5000 vitality , that is quite a lot but you increase damage really much. Try it . For going in solo in my opinion with berserker it is more effective .
try marauder scrapper with durability runes . It has really good survivability and hits like a truck .

Nice condi build that doesn’t quit. Only thing lacking is perma swiftness, and you have it up 70% of the time just spamming elixirs. Dd is a non issue. This works well with rabid too, but I can no longer count the times that duration has been a gimme in team fights/won me downed spam 1 wars.
You build is good but in my opinion if you trade slick shoes for elixir S and snake Giro for mortar it is better becouse you have also aoe which is really strong for engi , one more water field and 1 more blast . ( personal preference)
I like to play p/p with toolkit and nades ( old way ) the question is : for condition now which stats are better for wvw roaming ( i used rabid till now) are viper now better ?

I’d swap invention for tools. CD reduction on toolkit is really strong and then you can have speedy kit for moving and prybar often. Also the vigor is not that bad even if i think you miss damage in anycase. With firearm infact you have more damage through IP and condition from range with eg… it is an heavy loss
give druid a simple skill : unkillable for 16 minutes… with a cd of 15 minutes .
for high level pvp i am not so sure scrapper will take the place of rifle.
And the current meta ( on metabattle) with hammer ,eg and 2 elixirs, in my opinion , will not be the next meta in tournaments … it is fun and good but i am not so sure it will be used in high end pvp

i had a lot of fun with this build.
Nades with hammer work really well, in my opinion better than eg for the burst they give you.
If you are used to land nades you will find this build really strong .
I did not imagine that blast gyro was so good in pvp. you have to use it like a melee weapon … when they are on you u pop it up and detonate it
It is a break stun and it is quite good for CC, if you want it is a replace of BigBomb but with a lower cd ( i choose it becouse i need a stun breaker) .
Stability on function gyro is quite strong for stomping. Try it. For the sigil i chosed accuracy so that nades crits every time but anyone else is ok . Let me know

But, all in all, Pistols are in a pretty good place in HoT right now.
Correction: Pistol offhand #4 is good for condi specs. Pistol mainhand is horrible now and leaves no room for pistol+shield builds.
At least with Coated Bullets (the pierce trait) we could use pistol mainhand in power builds for the double hit when attacking from above, just under max range or when your enemies are up against a wall. It was a fun playstyle, not the most viable, but it did add some unique strategies for every encounter.
I’m not trolling you, but right now, in HoT, I’m running an Ascended Dire Pistol/Pistol build with Rocket Boots + 4 Gyros + Krait Runes.. I kid you not, I’m just bleeding and melting everything in my path. I don’t hesitate to solo Champs, herds of Veterans, etc. I’m proc’ing Bleeds at around 9 to 11 stacks and Burns from Rocket Kick, Incendiary Ammo and Blowtorch. I’m easily maintaining around 4,000 per tick damage from Condi alone – and it all bypasses Defiance. Often I take down enemy with the Defiance bar at 75% or better.
INcendiary ammo is not flame throwser ? how can you use it with 4 Gyros ? do you have 1 utility more than us ?

I main an engi. I had problems against mesmers. I rolled a mesmers and i played with it a lot in spvp . it helped me a lot. I gained 2 things : first, now i like mesmer really much, second it is now for me much simpler to see where is “the real one”. As an engi i suggest you to take nades for bombing clones down. it is not simple to fight a mesmer but when it gets to you automatic to understand which is the real …. it is not impossible to take it down. Without playing mesmer i could kill only really bad mesmers
The new maps are amazing, masteries were implemented perfectly, and all of the elite specs are a blast to play.

I’ve played Chronomancer, Daredevil, Scrapper, Reaper, Tempest, and Herald. Yet to be disappointed by any of them.
I played scrapper and tempest quite a lot. For pvp , in my opinion scrapper is good but not so better than other engi builds ( i main an engi ) . For tempest in my opinion in pvp … is not that good (calestial , cantrips + arcana+water + (air,fire,or earth with staff) remain far superior for me
old pu shatter meta in my opinion is still really really strong. I tried other builds, chronomancer too but for pvp , i find it the best. Chronomancer is stronger against condi enemy , but i am not so sure that Chronomancer is stronger than classic mesmer. The chaos line is really good and for pvp , at the end, i find classic pu shatter mesmer stronger than chronomancer at least in solo . It is only my point of view obviously . the mechanics of the builds are almost the same ( gs + sword torch usually )
which profession can counter a necro ? ( power .. mm or condi )
if not sinister necro sinister engi or sinister mesmer … class that can outplace damages and conditions togegher…
this game is becoming dps war 2 …. do you agree with sinister stat in pvp ( from hot release ) ? will it become too damage oriented ? Till now you had to chose between dps or condi damage but with sinister you will have both of them in a single hand. I think for example at a sinister necro ….
I use traveler runes for mobility. if you play with nades without explosive you lose a lot of damage, if you play condi without firearms you lose a lot of damage, try to take firearms , explosive and alchemy and you will see the difference.
Speed in pvp is not a must and if u want it you can get it from runes . This game has become dps war 2 … not guild wars 2 and condi engi with only 1 between explosive and firearms have not enough condi pressure in many fight, at least with nades or bombs . It is a little different if you play with ft or eg+ elixirs . trading invention or tools for one between firearms or explosive raise up your survivability but , at my feeling, it does not give you sufficient survivability to balance the loss of dps expecially against some classes like mesmers for examples. See how your damage rise up using both of them ..and with nades you can fight maintaining distance and making a lot of damage . try it with rabid amulet and see . I am speaking playing a condi setup with nades essencialy

for pvp it works . You can use it with ft or with eg+ elixir. IF you want another really strong setup, for pvp , try alchemy+explosive+firearms pistols toolkit, eg, elixir S or B (for speed if u don’t use rune of the traveler) and you will see how condi nades are strong now. The only problem using nades now is that , in a condi setup , you have to take explosive and firearms togegher otherwise the loss of damage is too high ( nades speed is a must and IP is … IP
Pistols are condi weapons
Real problem now is that you are almost obliged to get in your build explosive and firearms togegher with pistol . If you play nades or bombs explosive is a must (expecially for nades becouse granadeer helps you a lot in hitting targets) .
You can take only firearms alone if you use ft or eg+ elixirs but ,personal opinion, i miss nades too much .
Pistol benefits from explosive line too ( on autoattack ) and Incendiary Powder is really strong and it is now in firearms (burning is the strongest condition now) . The old pistol pistol build was really strong and basically was based on explosive with IP and Alchemy for survivability. Now you can not have something similar if you don’t take firearms and explosive lines. On the other hand alchemy is really strong and with rabid amulet you have really a good survivability. In my opinion if you play pistol pistol , if u don’t go ft or eg with elixirs , the best choice is to take firearm , explosive and alchemy and find another source of speed if you want it ( traveler runes or elixir B ) . I can ensure that pistol pistol, with nades,toolkit + eg/elixir S taking alchemy firearms and explosive is really really a strong setup (really underrated for me ) . if you give up with explosive or firearms you lose a lot of damage and now you feel it heavily becouse avarage damage is really high and the survability you gain with invention or tools is not enough to compensate the loss of damage . Firearms+ explosive+ alchemy … with nades ,toolkit and p/P is the way

i prefer pp at least for pvp but in wvw in my opinion , for going condi , shield is quite a must. In wvw damage is too hign … and i find also quite difficult to go condi now … there are some profession as necro or mesmer really difficult to fight with pistols … and with condi in general.
I usually play with alchemy but now i am playing in pvp with shield and i decided to give a try to alchemy. Protection injection , elixr B and elix S are really strong, but what i don’t understand is why people say that alchemy is better for condi cleanse .
From what i understood transmute remove 1 condi every 15 sec ( the first incoming) , while cleaning sinergy remove 1 condi every 10 seconds. If i sum from alchemy hgh ( considering only condi by traits ) it seems to me that both alchemy and invention clean 6 conditions per minutes. What am i doing wrong in my thoughts ?

it is early to say. Probably some things will change. I would wait to spend golds for a new setup … it is quite hard to predict what will be best . Sinister is in any case a good choice for pve

Soldier in my opinion is really strong but not optimal becouse fights become too long .
Rabid with hgh elixirs + eg or FT is really good but you have necro as a big problem as counterplay and some mesmers also.
Celestial is still good, you can play it in power or in condi. It does not excell but it is balanced and let you have a good mix of direct damage condi damage and a good survivability.
Maradeur ( i hated that setup ) in my opinion is the strongest. You have good survivability from tools traits and a really really strong damage ( aoe with nades hits like a truck ) ( i play caith build with rune of the traveler for mobility becouse playing in solo it is quite important for me ) . It is not so easy to play but perhaps it is the most effective setup .

In my opinion shield is good for wvw condi but for pvp i prefer double pistols . it is a personal opion, not a truth
Actually the dps still exixt.
Guardians can deal really high dps with direct damage more than with burn. Burn is more a burst build, but the direct damage is still efficent as always and grant so much better damage in time. (expecially in spvp where every build have some condi clean skills).Thief can deal insane damage if the player know how to not be killed istant.
Mesmer can do a really insane damage by a really long range using berserker why, if is a good player, there’s so much skills to save it’s kitten that a mesmer can survive to everything or flee from everything still in a berserker build, dealing really insane damage.
Ranger pewpew can deal really high damage by range. (but need to know how save himself when attacked)
Necromancer can inflict a really high dps while in DS or with Dagger (with no defensive skills and DS that is it’s better offensive and defensive skill at once, making it “weak”, but some builds can reduce that problem)
Actually the only classes/builds that play bunker is: Necro MM, Guardian Bunker, Engi Soldier/Celestial, Ele Cleric/Celestial. All the other professions/builds play in dps or at last hybrid or with lowbunker stats like valkyrie (necro?), Knight, Cavalier and more, depending on the build.
Actually 6/8 of the classes play at 80-100% in dps with direct damage and sometimes with hybrid or condition damage.
And they’re not really bunkers or defensive classes/builds.There’s for every class a lot of skills that grant a chance to play as a dps (direct or condi) and more or less everyone want to play as a damage dealer more than as a bunker, expecially with immunity/block/evade skills.
The only class that is totally witout a real defensive skill is the Necromancer but I alqays see a lot of them with dps builds play really well and make it’s part in the fight, killing a lot and surviving a lot. (they die quickly if focused but they can still do they’r role).
I don’t see all that bunkers in the game.
There will always be a bunker in a good party to help the team, healing and ressing allies, but almost all the others can be dps or hybrids.
You forgot maradeur engi which have a good survivability and a great damage …
Condi is not the real problem. In my opinion the real problem is the damage as awhole . It is condi or direct , match now have too high damage. I play engi. When i play condi (usually rabid ) i make a lot of condi damage but i have my weaks too ( for example 1 vs 1 with a necro is quite impossible ), i find it balanced . When i play maradeur instead i don’t have the condi damage but sometimes i kill really really too fast. When i am able to block with net shot , with all nades and sometime rifle 5 i kill the target. They should bring down a little the damage for all the classes in my opinion. Maradeur amulet was a fun thing in pvp , ok , but it make much more damage in all the matches and sometime you die and you can do nothing
In my opinion cleric engi in this moment is not that usefull. In pve. … none needs it. IN pvp the damage is too high. I played a lot celestial since june patch , soldier and rabid but now i moved on maradeur using caith build ( I changed the runes to traveler for having speed becouse i need it playing usually solo ) . What i see is that there are too burst now to play cleric… you can heals once… twice but you don’t last in 1 vs 1 with a player of the same skill level. In wvw perhaps someone use it for zerging … i usually roam alone so i find rabid a much solid setup . I really don’t understand what is the role of cleric engi in a game where there is no need of healers … but perhaps i am wrong .
For pvp alone , in my opinion , rabid and cele with maradeur remain the best choice. Soldier is really strong but in 1 vs 1 the condi damage of cele in my opinion helps a lot , soldier engi works well but for playing without a team the fights last too much, much longer than with cele .

In my opinion it is hard , in a single beta to say if some specs are op or not ( i think at druid or scrapper ) . I main an engi and i tried scrapper in pvp. I wanted to try all the new thing so i tried scrapper with 4 giros … it was fun ok , but i think it will not be “the way” to go. I think for example that hammer, with healing turret , nades , toolkit, eg or elixir S and sneak gyro is much stronger that hammer with 4 gyros as i played …. but in those 2 days . .i did not want to play nades … (i play them since start ) but i wanted to explore gyros. So it is a little early to give a judge

it is one of the most important skills of engi. Now i play quite often without toolkit but it is the skill i miss most. Pull, pry bar and block are great, ok , but i can play without them and substitute them with something else ( elixir S from alchemy trait with hgh + elixir S for example ,let you have an elixir S every 24 secnonds , or the shield ( i don’t like it) .
Pull is fun but not always simple to land, prybar is good but there are other skills that make damages. Box of nails is really handy against thieves and in melee fight becouse it let you retake distance from your enemy every 10 second .It is really really strong in my opinion
hammer is ok (it is a direct damage weapon like rifle ) .gyros : i liked sneak gyros in pvp and also the all the other toolbet skills from gyros.
Blast Gyro is good but it should be a blast finisher and it should move a little more. ( Throw Mine is much better as a static thing )
Shredder Gyro is completely useless : nobody is so stupid to stay attached to it to take damage from it .The really good thing for me is its toolbet skill (very strong with hammer2 )
Purge Gyro … can works ok , but elixir gun is much better , while have i to chose this ? give me an idea
Medic GYro seems ok but you should add a blast to his detonation so that we can blast it in his water field , without a blast finisher in fact its toolbet skill seems meaningless

In any case i liked the all thing : the hammer is something new and fresh and even gyros are in any case something new. The real thing missing is the blast on medic gyro explosion … for the others, sneak a part, there is the problem that there is no real need for them… ok , it is fun to play something new but kits and elixirs remain( in my opinion) the best resourses of eng by far

In my opinion it is much easier for dueling to use a build with no ground target skills.
I really love nades but i find them easy to dodge in 1 vs 1 expecially in wvw where you are not obliged to fight on a point .

This build is really strong in 1 vs 1 and it is quite trivial to use : stay in elixir gun for all the time you are ranged and when enemy comes to melee switch to pistols for pistol 4 and pistol 2. It hurts really a lot. It is not a build made by myself, i used a version a little different but i copied this from Jebro ( if i remember correctly ) and in 1 vs 1 it is really great . It seems weak but with short elixir B and S ( from elixirs and from alchemy trait) , frequent stealth , protection and stability it is really strong . It has also a good condi removal . Remember also that you have 3 blast finisher , 1 water field, 2 light field … use them wisely and you can arrive to get really long periods of retaliation whch is really op .

for condi builds in my opinion firearm and IP are better . If you play a power based build go on with explosive .
i think it will be something not so different from ranger spirit or pet. The reason is simple … they are working at the thing at the same time so probably they share a lot of code
in my opinion inventions without alchemy is really weak. I don’t like to be obliged to take alchemy but it is the only way to clean condition . Inventions remove only 1 condition .At least in spvp you don’t go too far without alchemy .
try jebro celestial build with rifle , bombs , elixir S and Slick shoes …. it is really strong now . You find it on his channel ( for pvp ) . Bombs are not weak now … try it and see. People does not try thing and they often think it does not work . I thought bombs were bad. I tried his build and it is really strong .
take tool (15% reduction on toolbet ) , take hgh from alchemy ( 20% reductio ) and take elixir B … and you have stability …it is a matter of choice
yes i play 2 different good build , one with rifle power and no kit ( all elixirs , really fun), other with pistol pistol eg and all kits ( condi bsaed ) but kits are really strong
yes i see now , 5 sec… more vulnerability than with firearms … i did not see it
I played a build very similar to your and it worked really well in 1 vs 1. The only miss is the lack of aoe . I suggest you to trade inventions for tool line . The reason is quite obviouse : with tool you get 15% reduction of your toolbet skills …. they are all elixir so you have stability and stealth more often … and you have also more migt and condi removal . other than that you can have vigor which is really handy .
So try to take reactive lenses, lock on ( can help a lot ) and adrenal implant. You lose the benefit of bunker down and of Automatic medical response , yes , but you gain vigor, lower 15% on toolbet elixirs ( which means more might and more condi remove ) and in my opinion is it stronger than invention . Try it and tell me
it is a great build in my opinion heavily underrated . you lose also swiftness ok .. but you can rely on elixir B in pvp … it is different for wvw on which i trade streamlined kits for lockon
