1st Item – Ghostly Halloween Themed – Probably Gift of Souls or Gift of Ascalon (or Eldritch Scroll by some players thoughts)
2nd Item – 40 Mystic Coins (equivalent to 2 months of hard work, Zomorros likes it, it’s shiny, and not trivial in large amounts)
3rd Item – 250 Karka Shells (Lemark fought hard the shelled beasts and was tired of the clinking noises of swords, again, 2 months of combat on an alien cursed place)
4th Item – IMO yet to be revealed
Gift of ascalon cant be put into the forge.
Mystic coins and karka shells work, but thats it
I dont have a gift of souls , but i dont think the gifts crafted by the dungeon vendors can be used in the forge (i can be wrong)
and if we are going with karka shells, Crystals (which say zommoros loves), doesnt go with karka shells either
(edited by Serophous.9085)
If you can see your reflection in it, it’s far more likely to be crystals than mystic coins.
So:
Crystals
Vials of Powerful Blood
Eldritch Scroll
???
doesnt work
So Eldritch scroll, mystic coins and vials of powerful blood.
Sounds like a new weapon skin.
no weapon smith blades work with those three. So either dull blade means nothing, or thats not it
And that goes against A.net’s stated policy of not talking about anything until it’s ready for release, per Mike O’Brien. You can offer the suggestion, but don’t get your hopes up of ever seeing anything like this.
And that’s the problem, that policy. The policy needs to change. This method isn’t working at all.
It first happened with the trait redux. I believe there was a cdi on it, but what was talked there didn’t seem to translate properly into game. If we had know sooner of the process, we could’ve given feedback that this isn’t what players wanted, and save time and resources on something that has to be changed again.
The second one I remember is the wvw tag colors costing additional gold. I never saw anywhere in the suggestions or pleas for this tool on making colors cost extra on top of unlocking. Its great they reverted it, but I also feel bad they had to call in programmers to change it on such short notice. Again, something that could’ve been avoided.
Next came the npe change, something that, let’s face it, would need a larger player testing that just the hire ons at anet. There are some good changes, and some that make no sense. And now, once again, time and resources have to be divided to fix those errors (skill unlocks, etc).
Now we have the gem exchange, which once again was unexpected and almost unnecessary. I can see how it can get confusing, but anet only looked at one end of the community, and not the other. They didn’t seem to ask how the change would effect the vets, how they would like the graph removed and the same implementation that RIOT uses, which also annoys THEIR base. This new system sadly thought only on the new players, and not concurrent. Hence why I’m OK with leaving what’s in already there, but they shouldn’t have removed the old way. They should have kept both. Again, this is something that COULD HAVE been avoided if we’ve known sooner.
Look, I get it. Collins did the blogs before saying new stuff was coming, legendaries, scavenger, etc, and they got backburnered or fell through, and the community threw a fit. In part, I blame the community for this because we took it too far, and should’ve been understanding that things as backburnering happens (though, with the loot hug and ascended gear, can you blame us?)
And then there was the wvw guild inv for the new map, something tested by wvw players to be used for wvw and expand the gameplay, and if turned into a pve karma train.
So I can’t fully blame anet for everything, as we as players need to admit that we’ve done wrong or failed on our parts when given the chance. If anything, there needs to be a reset, bygones be bygones.
Anet changes its policy to give more heads up on features planned so we can give feedback (MAYBE even testing again like with the wvw map), and we, as a community, assist in policing ourselves (like in the guilds cdi) and being more respectful, and not going off the hinges like we have before.
I think with the guilds CDI we’ve shown we can do our part, so anet has to take the next step. The communication is fine for what we’ve been getting, but that policy HAS TO CHANGE. Or the cycle of ‘implement then rage’ will never end.
Tldr: scroll up and read
I hope after the clues are given we play a game of “hot and cold”
Actually, the thing being overshadowed by the Gem Conversion farce is also Gem related. The removal of the Gem conversion graph and a mysterious jump of ~22% in the cost of converting gold to gem, which is significantly higher than any jump in the same timeframe in the games history.
And they removed the gold/gem conversion call from the API.
You don’t need a tinfoil hat to smell this fish.
Let’s say there are 10,000 gems in the pool before the patch hit, keeping the price at 10g a gem.
You get that little notification of ‘new build in 15 min’! What is going to happen with the people who wait till that notice to buy gems? They are going to buy. They are going to buy as much as they can. What happens to that pull of 10k? It dwindles fast. That 10g rises because of scarcity. For arguments sake, when it hits that there are 5000 left, it doubles to 20g a gem (I’m using fake numbers, I don’t know the actually algorithm).
You saw the same thing happen with candy corn once the patch it, it got to over a silver in price. Is that another conspiracy as well? Or was it the market being the market with supply and demand?
And since you have looked at the graphs before, you can usually always see a definite spike when a patch comes out, showing gem costs going up.
Note I don’t agree with their system either and have already made a suggestion on Gail’s forum post. I believe this just goes to show again that their current info policy is horrible and just angers players. Don’t blame them for not being able to tell us sooner so we can give pre-feedback before post, blame the higher ups who believe that releasing that ‘top secret’ project early because ‘we want to only release stuff ’when its done’.
If people hate it and give feedback en masse explaining why its bad, then clearly its ‘not done’.
As for exclusive stuff. Eh….it is still inclusive. You have one chance a year to get the item. To be fair with the wardrobe addition, bringing back old stuff that people might have destroyed eventually is fair for me at least. This stuff may not appear next year. And the raffle will award only so few that they will still be exclusive.
Ok, guys. Some of you are unhappy about this change, I can see that. BUT… quite honestly, most of you are sort of (I hate to use the word) ranting (sorry!) instead of offering suggestions.
I assure you, the team leader told me not 15 minutes ago, they will listen to suggestions.
- Does that mean you get everything you want? Probably not.
- Does that mean you should suggest something? Yes, of course! Because they’re expecting player input.
So you want lower increments? Think it through and present a suggestion! You want XYZ in the interface? Post that idea. You would rather see something else? Post what you think about that other thing. Please don’t get into the whole “I’m going to kick the devs and their little dogs, too” because it’s not doing you or us any good at all.
I’m not here to apologize. I’m here to communicate and right now, the communication is coming in without a whole lot of substance. Over to you for suggestions and constructive input!
Here’s my suggestion:
Keep the Current one first as a tab, for quick buys. If people know how many gems they need right away and dont want to fudge around, they can just click and buy.
A second tab can be implemented for lower amounts, because sadly, if you have 100 gems, and only need like 100 more for the horns, you dont want to spend 74 gold for 400, you just bought too many! So the second tab can have the custom amount, where you decide how many gems you want.
Add a third tab to see the graph rate.
Hey there,
Here are a few tidbits from the team:
- A lot of newer players had trouble with the interface. That doesn’t apply to you, you’re veterans who have been around the conversion block a time or two. But newer players will benefit from the updated system.
- The goal was to make the Gem Store more like other shopping experiences, and if you think about it, there is more of that feel to it now.
- You may be surprised to know this (I know I was) but very few people bought gems at smaller denominations than the first one offered in the new system. That’s not to say they never did, nor that there wouldn’t be the desire to do so. But overall, the current options were selected based on player purchases in the past.
- The team is going to listen to your feedback and, if and when it’s practical and desirable, they can look towards adjusting the new system to better meet your needs.
So please keep your thoughts coming on the new system. Feel free to make suggestions but please, keeping them constructive would be very much appreciated.
is it too much to have a system of “quick buys” where we see whats there now, and a “set buy” where we can set how many gems we want to buy?
I get this all the time. They are very mean to me.
Chris
I’m so sorry, Chris. I would hug you, but I blame you for anything that was ever wrong with the game by default.
And that is how it should be. I completely understand.
I dont blame chris, I blame the lil quaggan devil on his shoulder telling him to do things that make us mad in game.
In truth, all quaggans are evil
I just hope they some how bring back the first dungeon. It too was fun and I miss it. :‘( :’(
Can’t we wail on both mad king and the prince?
this again…
what about all of your pve exclusive past rewards that pvpers never got?
you think its fair that pve’ers get given the only past pvp reward but pvp’ers dont get wings of sunless, air filtration device, mad king backpacks etc…you have your past rewards we have ours, you have more.
Pve’ers had notification that an item wouldn’t last long. Trib armor had ZERO. Just poof and gone.
I would be fine with it if it came back as a PvP only armor, and others are OK with that too. I’m OK with some armors only available PvP only.
If I had at least known it was going to disappear, I would’ve grinded it out sooner rather than thinking ‘men, I got time’ because I was getting bored with the same matches over and over.
To put it bluntly, I’ll step more into PvP for sPvP exclusive gear, but then spvpers have to step more into pve for pve gear.
We’re looking into returning the Charr’s missing tail in an upcoming patch. (probably after halloween) – appologies for putting you off balance meantime.
while you’re at it, can you also fix charr paw prints in the ground? seriously, walking forwards and seeing backwards paw prints is freaken me out man….
- It seems that level 80s get a special loot table, and that loot table mostly consists of blue and green iron/soft wood weapons. The algorithm used to generate items is pretty transparent, so this equipment feels very formulaic very quickly. Level 80 characters see the same things over and over again, so it feels like characters are most likely to receive unexciting weapons – essentially, junk the game has misclassed as valuable.
You’re correct but not for the reason you think. It seems one of the side effects of increased magic find is that you are more likely to get an item that is at or near your level, rather than at or near the level of the area you are in. If you take a new character and level it up entirely in new player areas, you will see this in effect. There isn’t a loot table designed for just level 80 characters, but level 80 characters are permanently stuck at the top end of it.
The main outfall of this, of course, is that we are now awash in T5 and T6 materials, since even when players tear themselves away from the top tier farming areas, they’re still getting level 80 gear rewards. Secondary outfall is that T2-T4 materials are in short supply. This is also why collecting silver doubloons for The Juggernaut is such a drag.
I know this is taking the idea from a certain other game, but for dubloons and even some low gems, we could introduce prospecting to ore. This could also eat up some of the copper and mithril. Not to mention bring back more azurite
Perhaps ANet adds some form of PvE based Fame system, if you fail events too much, perhaps the NPCs would turn hostile of the player…
But just joking.
Hey, but that’s a pretty good idea! Some additional consequences for failing events! yay
Yeah…whole zerg vs a few NPCs….
Welp, no one would be using those vendors for awhile…
The NPCs get PvP grade skills, high stats (even high toughness and vitality) and Legendary ranks…
:P
And if its still large enough zerg, wont die. Not to mention you just added MORE bags to be farmed making them legendary :p
I am horrified by this news, and had no idea that this was going on.
Oh the humani…. quagganity!
I really am fighting not to create a thread about flying bunnies.
On a serious note it is Saturday, hope you are being paid no matter how much you enjoy what you do.Speculative posts about flying bunnies will be smited at my first opportunity with untold and horrific consequences. (You don’t want to even think about what that might mean!
)
Yes, it’s Saturday. Not I’m not on the clock. Don’t worry, I won’t spend my entire weekend here, but I like to try to keep up with things a bit on the weekends and after all, this is a pretty good crowd to hang out with.
Pft, or what? If we say "Gaile promised us flying bunnies! " is Dhuum gonna just appear over me in game during a difficult jump in a jumping puzzle and cut me down?
The other Blood Tribune in the citadel is Fierhan Sparwind, standing just outside of Rytlock’s office. Thanks to personal story dialogues we also know that seniority is taken into account in order to determine the highest authority of a foreign Legion, specifically referring to the Ash ones, Torga (being the senior) and Makk (the other Ash tribune, who was recently promoted according to himself). We could assume that Rytlock is the “senior tribune” for Blood Legion in the Citadel.
Now, back to the Khan-Ur thing, there’s another interesting dialogue in the Black Citadel, about an Iron Legion tribune (Fume Brighteye) who is against the Treaty and also supposedly “bucking to be the next imperator”, so there may be trouble for Smodur in the future before he can even try to do something with the Claw.
Technically, Sparwind is in charge now with Brimstone MIA. I wonder if that will play a part in the LS, and if the attitude is any different.
I refuse to buy it till the tail is added. And added with a spade at the end.
/serious
there’s absolutely nothing wrong with killing quaggans. Actually, the lack of “kill 1000 quaggans” achievement is the real crime here.
^
I agree! Finally I found someone else who shares my disdain for those little monsters!
I’d pay gems to have that achievement unlocked.

Maybe they don’t have enough Bloodstone Dust?
Is that even possible?
I actually do not have enough right now to complete my back piece….I’m so annoyed and glare angrily at my bricks
Convert your bricks back to dust: http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Bloodstone_Dust
….
I love you
Just so everyone is aware the first years Festivals were laid out and designed around the fact that they wanted content they could reuse as groundwork for the years after. This is how it will be most Halloween, Christmas, etc will be largely the same with small differences because that how ANet set it up from the beginning. They don’t’ wanna do massive overhauls of the event year after year.

Because we are all waiting for Assassin’s Creed Unity, while simultaneously waiting for Destiny to arrive on PC.
Really? Destiny? ;D Noooo, thanks. ;D
Who needs destiny when I still have my phantasy star online?
Because I learned to not rush for something in games anymore. Being first has no meaning for me in a race of “got to have it before everyone else does!”
I’ve actually JUST started my maudry back piece. I’ve started looking at collections, I still run for keys, I still play dress up. I am content…..
….until Tues….then its puzzle jumpin’ time!
These world boss crashes are getting real tiring. How many times do I need to submit these similar callstacks?
I crash almost daily at Karka Queen, or Shatterer. Today, I crashed at both.I don’t crash anywhere else. I think in the years I’ve been playing, I’ve had one (1) crash that wasn’t at a world boss.
I have been sending in callstacks for over a year now for crashes at world bosses, and while I’ve not been looking that closely at them, they almost always look the same. These crashes showed up around the time the culling feature was removed (when was that, a year and a half ago?)
And no, I’m not interested in playing at “low quality” settings. That is a BS solution, and by doing that stupid workaround, Anet won’t get the volume of callstacks they should be getting over this ridiculous issue.
Further, I play 99% of my gameplay with everything maxed, and there is no preset for that. High only sets about half the settings to max. I still have to go in and manually set half the settings higher after I choose the high preset. I’m not interested in fiddling with a dozen settings multiple times a day just to workaround some crashes that should have been fixed a long time ago.
Please, for the love of {deity} put some priority on fixing these crashes. I have sent you countless callstacks now. The issue is easily reproducible:
1) Go to a world boss where a zerg collects
2) Auto attack boss and wait
3) CrashThanks for submitting your log files. I’ve found your corresponding crash reports and we will look into the issue immediately.
The skinny is that it looks like we’ve allowed you to shoot yourselves in the foot with maxed out graphics settings combined with crazy boss zergs. The GW2 client is a 32bit process which has access to just 4gb of RAM, even less in practice due to fragmentation in high churn environments like a zerg fest. I can see from your log files that you are hitting an upper limit of about 3.5 gb of allocated memory before crashing on a failed allocation(i.e. running out of memory).
In the meantime here are some things you can turn down that will free up some memory in zergs without compromising graphics too much:
-Disable “High-Res character textures”
-Ease back on “Character Model Limit” and “Character Model Quality”
-Ease back on “Lod Distance”The memory use for characters can roughly be described as = character count * character quality * 4 (if high-res is enabled).
Report back if those changes don’t help and I will do the same when we have a fix in-bound.
im hoping this explains maybe my situation as well. Since I crash both in zergs and in populated areas.
I just hope anet is working on a 64bit in the background >.>
edit: and actually YES! Those are the same errors I get when playing!

Before hand, i was crashing at random moments. I deleted the local.dat and ran repair, TWICE. Still didn’t work. So I went into my BIOS and activated the feature on my motherboard to allow overclocking. So far, no crashes at all have happened.
BUT now I seem to have a new problem, where I get random screen freezes. Basically my FPS drops to 0, and it looks like my computer froze, until a few seconds later, it comes back. I have no idea if its the overclocking causing this now, or if its something else.
I havent tried going back to normal settings (since there was really no point in OC in the first place), but I don’t want to go back to crashing.
Please help!
Anet isn’t delivering an expansion as others due with a new box, it seems they are sticking to introduction through living story.
So far, we did get one new map, with chances are another new one with the return of the LS in November. Let’s face it, we are going to chase that vision, so it will lead us further into magguma.
Perhaps in reaching this vision, we may discover a new profession (because it is time the game came out with one), and perhaps there could be a new race tied to it, and/or new weapons (scythe and two handed Axe plz?).
There are people who both agree and disagree with me on this, which is fine. I’m just saying what I feel needs to come eventually, and makes sense being introduced in LS.
If they just go with box, then that’s fine too.
1. A sense of progression. A WvW guild gaining more perks for fighting in WvW, while a PvE guild would gain more perks in PvE.
2. More Noticibilty (my own word, too bad). In other words, if a guild team wins a tournament in spvp, its announced across server. If a guild defeats a tough boss for a mission, its announced, similar to the hall of heroes announcements in gw1.
3. Consumption of materials or donations of items to unlock guild only recipes. Example: donate so many armor and other random mats to unlock a new skin recipe for the person to craft (similar to warframe’s dojo research facilities).
I’m all for 2.
Based on the many games I’ve played and all the feedback I’ve read from countless players, what will definitely work is 2:
- If you are lucky, nothing happens, good for you, go on.
- If you are unlucky for many drops generated for your account, the “safety” kicks in and your chances of getting something rare increase each time a drop is generated for you with “unlucky” stuff, until you finally getting the stuff you are looking for is inevitable.
- Regardless of you being lucky ‘naturally’ or through he safety system, when the stuff finally drops, the safety resets.
Every time such a ‘cushion’ is added, less people feel like they are never getting anything or that the only way to get anything is farming then buying the stuff from the few that do get it.
I’m for this method.
Edit: only problem is, how would this effect such things as the world boss chests that garuntee a rare or better?
(edited by Serophous.9085)
Wait a second. The/A Producer for Anet hadn’t played WvW prior to that? Yikes…
There are many producers here! I am quite new to the company, and I do not produce for a team that is related to WvW in almost any way; trust me, if I were I would have played WvW prior to my starting here
I actually think this is a GOOD thing. If a newbie at Anet who never participated in WvW much before tried it out, then it gives fresh feedback to the devs on new people trying to join, and perhaps moreso on how WvW is becoming stale.
There have been multiple armors that make charr and asura females topless since launch. There are no breasts. What’s weird is putting a cat in a bra.
nothing weird, looks natural
We can stick to the possibilities we know. Based on Majory’s description, “E” is a human male with no necromatic power. Therefore, there are 3 possibilities:
E is a human male.
E is a mesmer who disguises himself as a human male, or has the help of one.
E is a group of people that includes a human male.
I’m partial to the last one, but that there is a true E, and others go out to say they are E.
Also, the more I think about it, the more I am getting a DeathNote vibe here…
I finally got yo actually crafting the amber weapons, and thought of creating some insect look with my chart.
Note, I did want to use the ramparts head, but the broken eye just always got to me.
That is freakin awesome.
Ty
As for the grind, it isnt that much. ill use the uber armchair for this example:
Uber Chair of Awesomeness- 50 Spiritwood Planks (intricate wooden chair), 500 Ancient Planks (uses more than one type of wood), 5 Deldrimor Ingots (screws/bolts/nails), 20 Bolts of Damask (soft cushion), 500 Gossamer Bolts (more softness for cushion), 200 Gold Ingots (gold plated), 20 of each type of Orb (its very shiny), 200k Karma (giant shiny chairs require lots of convincing to build), 50 gold coins (think of it as insurance for your many rare materials…)
The idea seems fine at first glance but adding a giant material sink into the game doesn’t seem like a great idea. Especially involving things like time gated materials.
Well, ATM there does need to be some giant material sink in the game to at least balance the supply and demand. Look at what happened during the past two zeph events. Many of the common and over saturated markets rose a bit.
Now granted, when its a permanent feature, more farmers would try to fill the market again, but if demand is high enough, that would take awhile.
I agree that time gated items such as ascended mats should either be left out, or for very minimum items that require very little amount of the one per day ascended mats.
The trend in wow expansions now is “goes up, then goes down” for subs.
As for gw2. It needs its own form of expansion, but not like the standard. What people are really asking for is basically: new profession, new weapons, multiple maps at once.
I’ve been disconnecting lately too, and noticing maybe some lag in dry top.
For the lag, I was soloing the vine events, I would dodge out of the red circles of its range attack. I see all evades on my screen, but I get poisoned, outside of a red ring….OK….
The second issue is the DC drops. This is occurring everywhere. I posted it in the tech forum, got one response from anet, then no more (I had stated that I hadn’t dropped in awhile, but soon enough…).
I’ve dropped saving zepherites in the mines, I’ve dropped fighting the vines, I’ve dropped taking on world bosses, I’ve even dropped standing at a crafting station in LA while crafting, looking through mats, and yes, even just by standing still.
That’s all fine in LA. But when you are on a dry top trying to get beyond tier five, its very frustrating to be booted, and go back to a tier 1 or 3.
if people keep asking for past pvp content to be added then i’ll gladly take an Air Filtration Device , Wings of the Sunless and some super weapon skins
;)
why can’t people let past content remain as past content?
This armor was only obtainable by chance in the MF in spvp. In other words, grind and salvage for the chance at the mats you need for a chance for this armor to even be spat back out.
People want it back because the method to obtain it was absurd.
I finally got yo actually crafting the amber weapons, and thought of creating some insect look with my chart.
Note, I did want to use the ramparts head, but the broken eye just always got to me.
Well, we know first he said “whispers of an attack” on the council. That could have been his way of saying “I see it in the future”. Let’s face it, claiming to have " heard of an attack" will get people on edge more than “I have seen into the future”.
As for writing letters, chances are this offspring wasn’t raised by glint, but by the zepherites. So it may have some human habits. Not to mention that the zephs can just write what he says.
As for the short meeting with Delaqua, we’ve seen with the countess that you can make very life-like mesmer clones to fool people, and even clones to look like other people (as she did with the queen). There’s also the point that mesmer magic can create a strong enough illusion to make someone appeared clothed….
The thing is, a lot of people are totally hyping themselves up for this, and for a surety, they’re going to blame Anet when those raids don’t meet those expectations.
Duh no. Anet has already started hyping it just by posting the position. Its a new hype marketing strategy to trick us gamers into falling for it. I mean its so devious and sneaky!
Players are never at fault for over hyping something! Never never never!
I would take a look at Dry Top right at the crystal race and haze escort events are. There are plenty of people at times who afk there, setting their aoe heal to autocast, and getting credit for the events for just standing there.
Some of these people are there for hours, when they should be logged out after so long.
Im hoping since its not out officially yet, that is just an incomplete version, and the rest is being added
then can add in new crafting professions like archetiecture and carpentry to build the decorations AND map pieces to craft like halo reaches map builder thing. you have set amount of room to build freely in and can expand it to max as guild grows. even have basic gardens that can farm stuff like sacrifice one item like food omnom berry for chance of higher yield after say 24 hours or something.
You know what? that is a very good idea/point. It shows that just by adding one feature, it could expand to create new things. Nice job.
One of the big reasons I keep logging in is because Arena Net left out a lot of the terrible game mechanics other MMO developers use that have caused so much trouble over the years. Fighting over resource nodes, gear, quest kills, environmental quest goals are all gone. And the awful need and greed mechanic …. wow is it nice to see that gone. This has help contribute to a much friendly playing environment.
all of this….I try other mmos and just groan most of the time.
This is a great list, thank you for taking the time to put in this level of detail. We will get these confirmed and reported this week.

First off, I’m a little late to the “party” here, am I to assume by the existence of this CDI that guild halls WILL exist in gw2, as they did in gw1?
There are NO promises made here. But some CDI’s HAVE come to the game, such as the wardrobe.
