I do not fear this patch at all, if anything it will be a positive boost. Other games have megaservers too (I played DCUO whilst it had one) and never had any problems with not being able to play with people I wanted to play with. I personally haven’t heard anything about ESO’s megaservers yet so I can’t comment on that.
Also if they made such a thread they could not build up a hype, it would spoil the surprise. Let’s first see how their implementation does in the low level maps, if indeed it is difficult to play with your guildies/friends then let’s come back here and see if we can come up with solutions, until then I have my hopes high.
Said it before many times on related threads and will again. Try it first, THEN give feedback. The whole point of feedback is to do it AFTER something, not pre emptive. If indeed the system has its flaws then they will be shown and they can be improved. They will be only implemented in PvP and a few select zones first to test it anyway.
Relax.
Megaserver has its heart in the right place, and I’m quite excited for it. People are pointing out a lot of problems that it could, potentially, have, but I doubt anyone has said something that ArenaNet hadn’t already considered. But heck, even they know that the system probably won’t be perfect so they’re implementing it slowly. The goal is to unify people, not drive apart friends.
Two things I’d love to see them decide to do:
1) Allow you to pick your own weights on which map you land on. Right now it sounds like there’s a high preference for you to be mapped with other people from your server – but I’d rather be with people from my guilds or people on my friends list with my server being a super low addition to the equation.
I believe that it already is the case. Guildies/friend>server, perhaps not super clear in the blog post.
Again. That is the choice of TTS and its members. Your problems should not influence Guild Wars as a whole. I´m being quite blunt here, but I gotta keep it real.
Bully people? No. You create a Guild or Guilds that focus on World Events, PvE etc. etc. and make it a nice community for everyone and whoever wants to join, joins, who doesn’t, doesn’t.
Well. It has been your choice to run things the way that you do. It is up to you to come up with solutions. ArenaNet does their best to improve upon the Guild system, which is there to bring people together. Now you expect them to cater to something that you have made yourself that falls outside of this system. I’m not sure I find that reasonable. Good luck.
I’m a big fan of this change. To me, this is the best and biggest change of the entire patch. For people in other countries who play on US servers, or people who play at odd hours like I do, this patch is a godsend.
And I don’t think it’ll hurt some groups of people as much as they perceive it will.
Agreed. With the new perk for guilds to activate events at will I think it will only make it more easier for them to do so. For those who are not in a guild large enough that does this (I myself for instance too) and play at odd hours so that they can’t do the world bosses, it’s a shame. I suggest they do join a guild that focuses on World Events and see which guild fits their schedule. Perhaps the intensity of bosses will be increased after a while, but let’s first see how this works! I’m stoked!
With all the negativity surrounding the megaservers and barely any thread that praises it, I figured I’d make one. Please do NOT make this thread into another concerns/complaints thread. I’d love to hear more positivity from fellow players about this change.
I urge everyone to stay calm and see what the changes bring first. They will be implemented first to low level zones and major cities and from there ArenaNet and we as the community can see if it works or not.
I personally welcome this change and I am super excited for what it will bring. This same change has boosted the community in DCUO as well when they implemented their megaserver. It is also one of the main selling points of ESO and I personally have not heard any complaints about that either. If it is similar to either of those then it will only be a good thing. This change will give the game a much needed boost and I look forward to the feature patch with much excitement.
ArenaNet, please do take the negativity with a grain of salt. Concerns are valid, but as with any change people are freaking out before it is even implemented and assuming the worst. Also do not take this the negative way those of you that are concerned, it shows your commitment and involvement with this game and that is definitely a good thing.
Have some faith. This will end well .
Is TSS not a huge guild? Why is it out of your reach to get those boss spawn thingies? Please do explain that to me. If anything that specific change should make it even easier for a huge guild to do World Events as they can do them at will.
It would require complete redesign of the entire class.
And that won’t happen.
Great changes, keep it up. My soul has been forever filled with tears of despair. Joy.
…Sigh. Forums.
Ah alright. Yea I can see why you’re speculating who this entity is, but it probably is Mordremoth as that would be the most obvious and ANet is not known for very strong story thusfar with this game. It’s probably not as deep as people want it to be.
Haven’t read all the posts, but are you still speculating if it is Mordremoth or not? While we do not know Scarlet’s true ‘end game’, aside from waking up the Dragon I believe it has been confirmed that it is Mordremoth, by Arenanet. Woodenpotatoes and Mattvisual also said on their podcast a few weeks ago (when the patch hit) that they have been told weeks before that by ANet that they were going to reveal another Dragon, specifically Mordremoth.
But OP. That’s not content and I don’t want it so it shouldn’t be included in the patch. Or ever. No. I don’t want it.
April 15 is not a content patch. It’s a feature patch.
I know, but all those ranters on the forums apparently don’t <3.
But OP. That’s not content and I don’t want it so it shouldn’t be included in the patch. Or ever. No. I don’t want it.
Hello there!
Blood And Metal is always looking for more members to join us. We are situated on Gunnars Hold and are a small, social guild. We mostly focus on PvE related things.
Are you into heavy music such as metal, hard rock or punk?! Then we’d like you to join us! We have a shared love for heavy music that we like to express next to our fondness of gaming!
Contact me in game or send me a message for more info!
Kind regards!
They’re toning down the healing signet though. Let’s first see how that works out.
@ OP If you quit, can I has gear and moneyz?
Also I’m not hating on the dynamic events or anything, they’re great and it’s what drives this game and keeps leveling alts fresh. The other day I was leveling with someone and I started doing all these events that I had never done before on previous characters because they weren’t spawned back then or no one to do them with. Makes the same zone nicer to level through.
True true, though it was still refreshing at the time what Rift brought for me at least, compared to WoW. I guess only the Invasions held camps and stuff, it’s been a while since I played it.
Well then that must be changed, because at launch, when I played it the smaller Rifts did invade towns etc. etc. around it if it wasn’t stopped. I also did not say the invasions and smaller rifts were connected, I gave two examples.
I can remember certain maps after an invasion being occupied by creatures from the Rifts if there was inactivity in that map. If that has changed then you can disregard my comments, but those were my experiences in the beginning of the game.
The only pitfalls of Teq and the Wurm are the required amount of players, something I foresaw coming and my fears came to fruition. They have really cool mechanics, but the amount of people needed is not feasible for most servers, unless you join an organized guild, but we know a vast majority does not do that.
As said before: a Shatterer revamp would be much appreciated by me too, but not simply not with the steep amount of people you need for it (and still now you need a decent amount too due to the timer). More interesting mechanics I am all for, but not the ridiculous amount of players needed.
Entertaining analysis that ignores several important points.
Dynamic events isn’t a new system but having a game with a dynamic event system with no standard events is a new system. Rift had dynamic events, but those events didn’t chain and didn’t have pass/fail paths that spawned different events. Rift also didn’t so away with the traditional quest hub system, but superimposed its deeply inferior Rift system over the traditional stuff, almost as if it were a second thought. Guild Wars 2 was the first MMORPG that made dynamic events the center of its open world content. No one has done that.
Not entirely true, Rift did have fail paths that spawned. If you didn’t close a Rift in time it would start spawning small bases, more and more creatures which would overrun nearby villages. There were also huge invasions which invaded a whole map, which also if not stopped in time would completely overwhelm everything.
Some cool proposed changes, but about the Flamethrower: with your suggested change, does this not cancel out a FT HGH build? The reason that works so well, in my experience, is because of the 10 stacks of might due to Juggernaut.
I really would like to see a change ot the FT. I allways wanted to be a slow moving destruction machine. Like the cof FT guys. So why not change it like that? While equipped the FT or maybe only while using FT 1 you move slower. 1 could be channeled longer, pressing 1 again chancels. Damage at least doubled.
And that from a bomb/grenades lover lul I luv engis <3
If I am not mistaken it used to be that way, but in PvP especially the lower speed was a big hindrance.
Also. My build, pretty standard FT HGH build:
Link won’t open for me right now, but you some comments:
- Juggernaut gets you to 10 stacks of might if you’re in the FT Kit. It will drop after some time of course, BUT
- HGH allows for real easy Might stacking, easily maintaining 25 stacks of might. No blast finishers are needed, just drinking Elixir B the whole time and using your toolbelt abilities from the Elixirs. Especially with the runes and sigil it is easily doable. Have not tried without myself, so perhaps some other sigils and runes could be used.
Can make a build for ya at home if you’re interested.
Colin has said himself IF they add anything it would make sense if it was a Heavy Armor user, BUT they feel they’ve pretty much nailed all the arche types from GW1. What is more realistic is more traits/utilities/weapon+class combinations and they’ve said they’re working on that as well.
I’ve actually already got a heal build in my signature. You could check it out to see what i use.
Perhaps should’ve clarified, but it’s not for WvW, it’s for PvE uses, hence me not caring about Power Shoes for instance ^^
For one, if I am dumping this many trait points into one kit, i would be using it primarily. So I cannot justify traiting a shield for the minimum toughness it will add, when I lose the toughness when in bomb kit.
I hardly call faster access to my AoE blinds and CC with smoke bomb and glue bomb + 10 more stacks of vulnerability “a little more damage”. If you feel that the longer recast shield skills offer you best return for defensive, skills, then by all means, invest in it. I for one disagree. If your using clerics gear, then your apparently looking to be group support. Yet when it comes to group support, you chose personal defense over group defense.
Good point, though I’d rather then take Protective Shield or Elite Supplies.
Thanks for the feedback Mork! I think I’ll run with something like this:
http://gw2skills.net/editor/?fcAQJAqelIq6ZHvyuF17ISoHSohpWiK8YfeIXpVbB-jwBB4hBkaAk+AILqIasFhFRjVNjIqWnEDA-e
3rd Utility will be an Elixir, which one will depend on the situation. That’s why I took the Fast Acting Elixirs since I don’t see Invigorating Speed be of any use with the Sigil and the tankyness of the specc, only other option would be Protection Injection. Could also take 10 pts out of Explosions and put that into Alchemy but this looks like a healthy mix between tankyness, support and damage.
Only certain periods does ANet allow us to do so, they did it 3 weeks or so. Stay tuned and they might with some coming LS content!
Not sure if this was discussed anywhere, but I was speaking with some guildies about Scarlet and all of these story arcs they are putting together.
Does anyone else notice that:
Molten Alliance, Aetherblades, Toxic Alliance = Vigil, Durmand Priory, Order of Whispers? The evil versions obviously. They are even growing an evil Pale Tree. Scarlet is creating evil versions of what we got going on.
The LS up until now doesn’t sound so random when you think about it with this in mind.
Someone must have rolled a dice… where is Evil Abed?
(not all will get the reference).
Always have my attachable beard with me.
If you really want to go the bomb healer route, that build is not bad, except one trait: 409.
It really only makes sense with at least 2 elixirs, otherwise just use Elixir C. If you want to cleanse conditions from your group just use Fumigate (EG 4), HT overcharge and Super Elixir. Investing in this trait to remove one condition on a ~60 second cooldown is not a good choice. Protection Injection or Backpack Regenerator (as you have a high heal stat and will be in melee range a lot) would fit much better. But before you invest a lot of resources into new gear, be warned that even with a very high heal stat Elixir Bombs are rather underwhelming. I suggest you test it in sPvP first.
Already have the Cleric gear so that’s no problem!
What would you suggest instead of 409: Backpack regen, Fast Acting Elixirs or Protection Injection? I personally think out of those Fast Acting Elixirs since I’ll already be a tough cookie, but then again that comes down to playtesting I guess.
I do not understand reinforced shield really. I would rather go with power boots for the flat 25% speed boost since they are changing it to be out of combat too. Then you can tale the 10 points in tools and move it to the explosives line.
Well it gives me my blast finisher quicker, also the small stun or immunity from the shield might come in handy from time to time, that compared to 25% movement speed, when Swiftness will be up quite regularly through speedy kits, Hidden Flask and possible group buffs I don’t see that as being a good trade off. I did consider a more offensive build, something like this:
Another possibility perhaps?
So with the future change coming up I might give support a go again. I know Berserk Grenades and what not is better, don’t care.
What I do care about is your feedback on the following specc, should I run it like that or perhaps with different gear, traits, etc.
Some explanation perhaps needed: Energized Armor since Cleric gives toughness therefor power>more pew pew. Might be swapped out for Protective Shield if I notice I’m too squishy.
Reinforced Shield so I can blast more, such as my Turret, but also Fire Fields.
Figured I should put my last 20 points in the Alchemy line, at least 10 since I thought Swiftness=Vigor thanks to Speedy Kits and Invigorating Speed, which I can imagine being handy being in melee the whole time. Figured I’d throw the last 10 points in here as well and go for the Cleaning Formula for some more support and since I find Engineers to be very susceptible to conditions I thought it would be a good pick. Might change with the Transmute change coming.
Elixir Gun is there for some more support and another blast finisher. The Elixir can be swapped out to whatever is needed.
Runes of Altruism cause I have those in my current Cleric set and thought it would be a nice little extra support for the party.
Feedback is appreciated!
Cheers!
It’s the best of both worlds for you and I, sure. But what does this do for Anet besides lose them potential revenue?
Make it cost a transmutation stone/crystal to bind it to a piece of equipment. More people will buy those and they can earn their money that way as well.
I hope they leave it at this. THEY BETTER!
How? Large servers will have a LOT more people doing those events, if all those events give bonuses to the server in WvW that would make it very imbalanced as the smaller servers will not have that. No.
Sounds good! Perhaps on the banner you slap into people? BAM! (actually the tag of my guild as well :P)
Good idea LoreChief! Allows for a lot more personalization in your builds and perhaps open up doors that are now not even considered. At the same time it might actually make builds that are extremely popular now (Berserker basically) even more overpowered, no?
I’d love to hear more elaboration from you LoreChief why/how you think that this will not happen.
Great job though!
Same here OP, that and the combat system that GW2 has. DCUO also had a good one and I can imagine Tera has a decent one as well. Would not be able to play a game like WoW anymore. I tried SWTOR again a little ago, but it’s just so boring..
ANet does not want it so that race X is better than race Y or that you have some sort of advantage over others. Their solution was the racials we have now. Which are a bit underwhelming, but the idea is good.
I’m afraid that your suggestion would not work, I don’t agree with it and it is too late to change it now.
I did and I don’t think Arenanet will do something like that. The crystals would be sold a lot less, unless you care to explain it because it just seems to me that you use the crystals to put the item into the ‘wardrobe’.
It’s not the transmutation stones/crystals I have a problem with, it’s the fact that skins are not put in some sort of wardrobe like the achievement skins are and therefore I can only use them once – that sucks. I
Can someone answer me on why rytlocks holds onto this and doesnt give it to queens jenna so she can enter ascalon with it and put all those foefire ghosts to rest, its hurting my brain, is rytlock an absolute moron, not only that eir had broken the counter part Magdaer and sent it off to be reforged, so why not end it once and far all, rytlocks people are dieing and he’s sat there behind his pretty little desk holding onto his pretty sword that he doesnt even use, he doesnt deserve to be a leader in my eyes :C
I read somewhere that it was because of the ghost threat that the 3 legions are united.
They united forces to keep Ascalon from falling from “Charr claws”.So… if Rytlock ended the curse, the reason why char are getting along will cease to be, therefore the alliance will break and every charr will again mind their own affairs.
In my point of view, that same curse is the reason of charr current success and Rytlock knows it.
Rytlock might be the new Khan-ur or is planning to be… but thats a whole new debate.
The Charr with the proper leadership (Khan-ur), whether that’s Rytlock or not, I think Smodur might be a better one, they stick together. The reason they fell apart was because they lost their leader and everyone was kitten ed off and what not. They’re under speaking terms now because of the threat indeed, but they can be united once again IF the story finally starts moving forward again..
True perhaps not for ALL skins, but at least for the gemstore skins. The reason they have this system is so people need to use the stones/crystals to transmute the whole time, which I can imagine is a source of income.
+1 I also want a change in the system. I think it would work as well if it just costs 1 stone/crystal per withdrawal or something like that. Unless you meant that as well.
As long as you unlock them permanently I’m happy. I have the Aetherblade Armor with Berserker stats and various Runes. Wanna change specc? That’s possible! You just loose your stats and runes if you wanna keep the looks. Wanna keep the looks and other stats or runes? Well too bad for you. Even though I spent 10 euros on my set I can’t apply it to multiple sets because I’ll loose the stats which is VERY annoying.
DCUO has an excellent wardrobe system, a game that’s also about looks. It also has its flaws and may not work for GW2, but some elements could.
LS skins and gemstore skins should be unlocked account wide and applicable on as many sets as you want per use of a crystal. That’s my two cents at least.
Easier solution for you OP: don’t get it. You already point out some things and I feel the same way: it’s not needed. Don’t get it.
That would make it even more unbalanced.
