I left the game after playing for several months without a break a bit before Raids Wing 2 came out. I was a bit tired of the game after playing so much (x5 Lv80s and another two Lv40 characters during that time + Ascended gear… yeah I had a lot of free time) plus my guild wasn’t the best in terms of Raiding and the schedules were inconsistent, so the only thing I was interested in, Raids, wasn’t possible for me to do.
So now after several months I miss this game a bit and I’m considering to come back. So aside from the new Living World S3 content, what else could I do in the game? What has changed? What are your opinions on the current state of the game?
Also if you can tell me without spoiling, how good is S3? Is it exciting like fighting Mordremoth at the end (despite the endless bug) was?
I have a Lv80 Character boost that seems to be free waiting in my inventory and I have no clue why I have it. Does it expire? Hope not, because as I don’t remember which character I wanted to level first or which was a pain to level, Idk which one to use it in.
Sorry for so many questions and thank you to those that take their time in replying!
Daredevil is probably the least useful of all classes since its biggest merit is single target dps. Whereas the other dps classes have more damage and aoe (ele), epidemic (necro) and slick shoes (engi).
I know, but according to what OP says he only has a Daredevil so well, trying to cut some slack for the dude :/ Any other class would be better, but you can still make it in with a DD.
As a game developer in training, I gotta say ANet and CD Projekt Red are my idols to follow!
Thanks! Yeah 15 seconds before Mushroom was a bit too much.
Daredevil is useful in Raids, but not required. “Required” classes are Druid, Chrono, Herald, PS Warrior because of their buffs and utilities, but aside from that, anything comes in handy as long as you know your rotations and the mechanics well. You don’t even need Ascended as long as you know how to play well!
Thanks! Once I get home I’ll submit the request.
The Anet people are themselves hardcore players. They are thus biased toward the viewpoint of the hardcore customer players. I think that they are confusing what they want to play with what the majority of the customers want to play.
If you checked Guild Chats and dev responses on the Forums and Reddit you’d know about 1 out of 10 people from their dev teams are hardcore players. The rest only play 2 hours a day top, most of them haven’t even reached max Mastery Points or stepped into Raids more than an hour or so. Ruby even said she killed VG for the first time a few days ago.
Congratz! Still trying to get my kill. If you liked the Sloth, you gonna love the 3rd boss!
Update: Worked like a charm! Now I just need good squad mates. Should get a kill tonight
Congratz! This wing looks so good. Still fighting the Sloth in my case tho :P
OMG if this trully works I’m gonna love you! Gonna give it a go tonight and post feedback tomorrow.
Thanks a lot! For those of us that hate having the game in Windowed mode this is great
Love the idea! This could help people understand HoT monsters weaknesses better
The first one does sound like a bug, but just deactivate the Tag, after all its not needed in the fight. The fixation will change if the fixated person gets downed, but if that was not the case, then it might be a bug indeed.
It didn’t happen to me that the grub person from the party would disappear, but is extremely annoying as the healer (I’m main healer) to see someone with low HP and until I target them realize they’re the grub and my pet is already attacking them. Would be SOOO good if the HP in the Squad UI appeared in full red.
@TheonetoRule Raids are supposed to be different and have different mechanics. If you’ve done other Raids, you’ll know that tanking is still important for most fights.
If ANet made every encounter have the same mechanics it would be really boring. I feel Slothasor makes the entire team focus, unlike VG where only the Green Circle team and the tank have to focus on doing their job well, while the rest only have to evade the teleport once in a while. And I like the change.
In the Sloth everyone has to focus on the poison and know how to guide the Boss, which is not hard anyways.
He’s the final boss from the new Wing of the Raids. Some people speculate he’s an experiment made by the White Mantle with the Bloodstone, after all he totally looks like a Bloodstone Hulk.
According to people, that fight is a pain in the butt. Can’t wait to try it out!
Hey everybody!
I wanted to know how to remove the poison without triggering the AOE. If it expires on its own, leaves a pool. If you remove it, leaves a pool. But something removed it from me once that didn’t trigger it. I had Sloth’s aggro, I was fixated, was it that? Anybody knows?
Interesting fight so far!
Well I don’t see how MMO’s are for you if you don’t like repeating content.
^ This.
It depends a lot on your account and how fast you wanna level it. If you level it as you level your character you most likely won’t need to spend a penny. Personally only at 80 I had to buy stuff to level from 450 to 500 because I wasn’t doing too many things on Lv80 areas.
If you have a Lv80 and you wanna level a profession from scratch, well, you may have to make a “big” investment. Low tier items can be pretty expensive, specially Lv50-60 (Rugged leather, hard wood, etc.) because they’re also used in Ascended Crafting, so the demand is high.
I’d say if you have to buy all the items, leveling a profession may cost a bit over 200g or 300g if you buy from sell orders (just making fast math)
That armor looks AMAZING. I would love them bringing it back, in whatever form they want. Craftable, PvP, WvW, whatever.
Awww I thought it was a “Share your experience when someone did something nice for you for no reason!” thread.
So many times Mesmers porting people, many times I’ve ported people myself :> I’ve given gold (max 10g) to people in need, etc.
The greatest act of “kindness” was a 15g “tip” for helping someone complete all 4 HoT Maps because I know them pretty well. It wasn’t even all the points, just some HP and Vistas the dude needed.
Although I don’t have any questions myself, good idea and nice attitude I’m sure it will help quite a few people get into/get better at Raiding!
Hey Met I just finished the survey. When or where can I check the avg replies? Very interesting post!
It would be nice, but it would wreck havoc with prices
Agree. My main reason for not spending 3 hours flipping the TP is because I get extremely bored of clicking… and because I don’t have enough money, but that’s another deal.
I’d love a repeat button, but I think it’d break the market.
This is really interesting! Nice post OP!
1. Which map is your favorite to EXPLORE?
Tangled Depths
2. Which map has your favorite MAP META mechanic
Tangled Depths
3. Which map has your favorite REWARDS (unique zone rewards)
Im not sure what you mean with this question. Map Currencies or Meta rewards?
Anyways Tangled Depths again. I love that map.
4. Which map has the best STORY (both personal story and event story)
Verdant Brink
5. Which map has the best VISUALS (map design, best view)
Verdant Brink followed by Tangled Depths. I love the terrain depth those maps have.
6. Which map has your favorite MAP CURRENCY acquisition method
They’re almost the same… Vedrant Brink because its really easy to get Map currency.
7. Which map has the best ENEMY DESIGN (mechanics AND visuals)
Tangled Depths
8. Overall which zone is your FAVORITE
Tangled Depths!
Thank You ANet that You made Heart of Thorns!

Yay a positive post! +1
THIS is an example of a well-written post/opinion, with valid points and objective argument.
I can’t talk about PvP or WvW because I don’t do either.
PvE – HoT Maps
I like the “difficulty” the mobs have, but I do agree is quite annoying or frustrating sometimes (For example, I can’t walk past a Sharpshooter with my Ele because it one-shots me with Exterminate… Quite ridiculous, I can’t even go in stealth gliding to avoid it). Dragon’s Stand is extremely boring for me. WAY too slow and the amount of time you have to wander around after MoM is dead is too short.
Other than that I really like HoT Maps. Is like the core Tyria maps but with a Meta every 2 hours.
Dungeons and Fractals
I miss dungeons so badly. They were great content! I don’t really understand why ANet would stop supporting dungeons to focus on Fractals… which are boring because they’re either repetitive or nobody joins because the other levels are “too hard or long” (specially 50+). They could’ve done Hardcore Dungeons with chance for Ascended if they didn’t want to make new 3D models for new Dungeons
Raids
This is the FIRST wing out of three, that’s why is “easy” now. I agree Raid rewards are disappointing but again, is the first wing. I clear it with my Guild in 1 hour. I love Raids honestly!
Also, Ascended is not needed. A group proved with full Exotics that you can clear all three bosses. They even finished Gorse with 1 minute left on the Enrage timer. People need to learn to use their toons well, that’s all.
Balancing is not easy at all, there are a lot of variables that ANet may oversee when they balance stuff that ends up being OP or exploits. Just check any MoBA patch notes and you’ll see how many times they balance heroes/champions (Monthly basis).
Ele might be a glass cannon (which I love) but you get hit by a bunny and you’re dead.
I checked this twice to be sure, and I couldn’t find the correct area and sub area in Bug Reports to report this so… Here I am.
When going downed with Agony on a Fractal I get instantly defeated because I get 45K+ Agony damage, when before I checked Combat log and I was getting 5K or less of Agony Damage (Fractal 77, I have 100 AR when 117 is needed).
Anything else having the same issue?
PS.: Nothing to do with the Fractal Avenger, because the defeated is instantaneous.
That is awesome.. Any link to the latest version or a page that is constantly being updated when something new happens?
Use this guide:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a5i5-2X4wMA
Has all the links you need and an installation guide. Have in mind that the video is for the 32-bit version. For the 64-bit like I have you need a different unlocker (which I didn’t need) and the 64-bit version of ReShade of course.
I would LOVE to see a new playable race. Tengu would be my favorite because Largos are not just mostly extinct but I also don’t like their colors. Well if you could change the colors then I’d like them a bit more. Kodan are really boring… But well, I just want a new playable race.
No Quaggan please, I’m not interested on being a living balloon.
On my Guild we use a Scrapper as Tank on Gorseval. As I don’t use Engi I don’t really know what traits or skills he uses but we never had an issue and, as the healer, my job was easy as he barely needed any heal.
Gorse didn’t move around much either.
Druid sucks it is that simple they made a monk out of a ranger and they never should have done that.
So a profession based on using a wild creature as a companion, has a lot of abilities related to spirits synergy with nature has nothing to do with a Druid, a shaman that lives in a forest, makes rituals and communicates with those same nature spirits? K m8.
I don’t have a Guardian/DH so I don’t know about that.
At least we know that the next LW or expansion will be the Crystal Desert!
This much sand has to be used for something, right?
Am I missing something, or am I just unlucky?

You’re just unlucky. I had to kill Smokescales for the Pristine Claw (which is basically your situation), farmed for 20 mins and decided to quit, I didn’t care that much about the GS. So I just kept doing whatever I wanted to do and killed every Smokescale I could come by and then continue with my stuff. I got it about 40 mins later after killing just 7 or 8 Smokescales.
“The best way to find something is to stop looking” worked for me. Same with the Oakheart Spirit for the Staff.
I run it with ReShade as well and it’s even more amazing. Here, check the comparison!
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UbnLry44RTE
I didn’t need the ReShade unlocker for some reason. I have an i5 and GTX 760 running at 60 fps all the time excluding World Bosses.
Get yo kitten straight m8.
He was killed by Kralkatorrik himself, the Elder Dragon, not by a Lieutenant
They won’t re-design it and they shouldn’t either in my opinion. This game is based on adaptability, get a Necro for Spectral Walk or a Mesmer with Portal and that JP is easy. I did it with my Necro and yes, I fell a lot of times but most times I could come back with Spectral Walk. I really enjoyed that JP despite the difficulty, is the Evolved Jungle Wurm of Jumping puzzles. Don’t expect everything to be easy in the game, that’s just dumb. I found Trolls Revenge a lot more annoying because of the lack of space to move, but I just gotta do it with my Asura and I’m sure I won’t have an issue.
BTW What’s the new entrance to Troll’s Revenge in the new LA?
I’d like to know how it works as well or if it’s bugged. I have Core-Fractal hero almost complete and I have NEVER received a glob, and I only have 9 Vials…
Raids are supposed to be hard, and this is just the FIRST wing, the easiest one. Raids were not intended for casual play, so yes, skill and learning mechanics are required. I’ve seen no-updraft Gorseval, being this boss the one with the biggest HP pool. Also people with Exotics made it to and killed Sabetha as well, so gear is not required, but skill.
Last night I killed VG with 3.5 minutes left on the timer, Gorse with 2 minutes left and Sab with also 2 minutes left, so the raid itself is not really hard if you know the mechanics and know your rotation, you could even call it easy.
The problem is that people don’t want to learn or face a new level of difficulty, but rather expect Raids to be your mindless autoattack boss.
I really like how ANet is handling their Raiding content and I really hope they keep it like this, because is great.
After a few tests I am pretty sure that the last patch also changed how healing works. Pre patch the target with the lowest health was priorized for healing, regardless in what subgroup he was. Now it seems, that the subgroup of the healer is priorized, which is a bad change imo since it limits party composition, because now parties have to run either two healers (one in every subgroup) or they run one healer in an own subgroup, but then this healer doesn’t get boons.
Is this change intended or is it a bug?
And will it get fixed, or if it is intended, can we please have this change reverted?
I’m main healer and I didn’t have trouble Raiding last night, worked just like before. Well probably because I was alone in a Subsquad 3, maybe your group should do that.
You can also target a player with low HP and that will guarantee he’ll be healed.
When will Bubble’s minions start showing up?
I understand and sounds cool if you’re holding the whole Bubbles mystery for the last expansion or one of the latest, but I’m really anxious to see some!
Will we ever have some bounty creatures?
This is what in other games is called “Rare mobs”. I would LOVE to see bounty-like minions that you have to kill for an achievement. For those like me that love to explore maps, this would be SO AMAZING! With exclusive weapons and such. And if they could have special mechanics, even better!
What kind of minions are you trying to make?
Simple question because we have no idea what minions you’ll be making. I’m guessing they will either have a relation to the next Elder Dragon we have to kill or something completely new, not related to the Dragons?
Was destroyed by Scarlet during LW Season 1 and now it has been rebuilt. Personally I like it.
ANet! Please continue to post what your working on next or planning to implement next/ more often. Working on things in secret all the time is giving a lot of players the misconception that your not listening to them and that your game is lacking and will see no change.
Also, please explain your changes in more detail. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve heard people make up these conspiracy stories about why your company is making “said changes” to the point where I don’t even know who to believe
I remember hearing about a PTS server in the works. Hopefully it gets released soon! Players should be able to test out changes and provide feedback before they go live. Stronger communication is whats gonna give players hope about the future and keep them excited to keep playing.
They do but not in the forums. They mostly use Reddit, Guild Chat, etc. People just expect to find everything in the forums because digging a bit is too much work.
I don’t blame them tho, I’d also expect to find more info in the forums. But after seeing how people react in the forums vs how people react on Reddit I totally understand why they do it.
Its like going from kindergarten to college.
How you managed to read the OP and at the same time take it seriously is baffling.
I have seen stuff… people saying stuff… pointless, dumb stuff but they were serious… It traumatized me. The forums changed me…
me and my husband has perma 400-600 ping, after a few weeks of raiding, we are getting tired now .. and gradually letting it go.
all i have to say is that… it really sux!!
… Where do you live? Mars? Really I live in Uruguay, almost the bottom south part of South America and I have 180 ping and no trouble Raiding.

I thought that you guys could make a GW3. Where its in Glints World. One idea that I had if you choose to do this Gw3, is somehow you can have the characters swing on bars and other stuff. That’s really all I have other than I accidentally sent a semi-false report. I had tried to report someone but I hit the wrong report. I hit scamming when I should have hit verbal misusage I think is what its called. So, ya. As you know, love the game:D
What’s the point of making GW3 over a new expansion?
- Outdated graphics: Nope
- Outdated scripting system: Nope
- Outdated sound system: Nope
There’s no point to make a GW3 when there are still lots of things to do in GW2 and the system is up to date.
Its a LOT more expensive to make an entirely new game over a new expansions. New games of the same saga are released when the systems are very outdated.
Sorry but your suggestion is just dumb.
Place the vendor window with item you want to buy right below the ‘Yes’ button. Then double click the item and with a 3rd click you press yes. It’s very fast.
WHY DIDN’T I EVER THINK ABOUT THIS? Thank you, kind soul
I like the idea but you gotta be able to dye them Or at least change the Bat wings and make them dyable.
I think I’d prefer a Branded glider first :P There are so many possibilities I’m surprised ANet hasn’t released many gliders yet.
I went through the same! I started playing about a year and half ago, but when I reached Lv80 I didn’t know what to do.
I started playing again and made a new account three months ago. I have 1000 hs of gameplay by now, four toons Lv80 and two 40s… This is what happens when you realize all the stuff you can do at 80!
Things you can do:
- World Completion: At least once, this is a good thing to do. Not only for the mastery point but for all the rewards you get for individual Map Completion.
- Finish Story: At least once, again. Its annoying to do the almost same thing every time but it has its benefits and decent rewards.
- Do Living World/HoT Story: Waaaay better and more entertaining than the Personal Story, and better rewards!
- Start gathering stuff for Ascended: Ascended Weapons and Trinkets in particular are required for participating in some of the end game content by groups. Raids for example, if you’re interested in them. This is optional tho, and does take a good amount of money/materials.
- Max out professions: Its useful and if you’re not interested on crafting Ascended stuff, you can sell the Ascended mats for good profit!
- Achievement hunting – Achievement chests have some really nice rewards!
- If you have a Ranger, get all pets! Gotta catch them all!
- Get some sexy armor skins if you like Fasion Wars.
- Jumping Puzzles! Might have been a joke but they’re quite fun.
- Raids! I haven’t had as much fun with any other PvE content as I’ve had with Raids.
- Get rich! – Flip the TP, do dungeons, gamble, sell your in-laws to the black market.
I don’t do PvP or WvW yet, but that’s something a lot of players really enjoy so that’s another alternative.
Basically it depends a lot on what you want to do and what you like doing. I like almost everything GW2 has to offer, and I don’t say “everything” because as I said, I don’t do PvP or WvW… yet. I do have lots of fun with Dragonball!
You can also kill hunters and farm their armor pie—- Oh wait wrong game.
