D/p isn’t a noob build. It’s just simply the best weapon choice for stealthing.

In spvp there is 4s revealed. X/d is dead in spvp because of that. 4s is an eternity if you are not standing in a black powder.

In wvw, sorry to say, but stacking stealth is needed. People cry so much about heart seeker spam over black powder. How is that any different from x/d spamming cnd off creatures?

Noobs will be noobs. In wvw d/p is king. If you aren’t running it you are stubborn and gimping yourself. In spvp you have 2 choices. D/p or s/d evasion build.

Way I see it, thief is locked into a small amount if builds simply because everything else has been nerfed into the ground. Thanks anet!

It`s not one button, even a 12 year old can get that. It used to be much higher, it got nerfed more than once, so your QQ is unwarranted. Can`t be pulled off on anything than another glass cannon. Can`t be pulled off in spvp. Can be countered with literally ONE button: your stun breaker. It leaves you naked since you waste everything on a gamble.

For a single strike, it’s way too much damage coming from something that is completely invisible to the opponent. Not to mention that the thief is hardly “completely naked” – thieves have way too much escape potential in WvW. It blows my mind that anyone can actually think otherwise after actually playing as or against a thief for any reasonable amount of time.

I can kill thieves pretty easily on my warrior (which is considered lowest tier for PvP), especially D/D Thieves. The ones I have trouble with the most is D/P, but I can still get em down pretty fast by whacking them outside of Blinding Powder or using Whirlwind through it.

I just love that ArenaNet puts in objectives that, to reach them, you have to farm for, and then goes and nerfs every possible way to farm. So where’s the logic in that?

And if you’re not supposed to farm, why the need for so many mats for a single item? How would you ever acquire it? By simply playing and then sometime in the distant future you have all the materials? Best delaying tactic ever. Not.

Buy Gems, trade them in for gold.

- Get rid of downed in sPvP should be there, or atleast a sped up “FINISH HIM” animation.

The Downed Mode is one of the coolest Parts of PvP and has a huge impact on gameplay, build-creation, playstyle etc. – removing it would be completely senseless.

I’d love to see a bit more love towards “while rezzing” and “on rez” effects though. Especially the ones that trigger after a Rezz could be much stronger, because it’s quite a prerequisite for the Trait to Trigger.

Uhhhh no it’s not, it’s just an annoyance, especially considering other classes have MUCH better downed skills than others. I usually don’t even bother using the finish animation since it takes so long that their allies can come and revive them.

By that logic, you should remove being able to do DMG, because some classes can deal more damage than others.

The Downed-State is one of the Events in a game which requires quick thinking, good preparation and Teamplay. People that want it removed are often solo-q’ers that can’t grasp that concept of teamplay, making a Teamcomp that can control downed Players, stomp them well and are able to revive Teammates.

And I can completely understand your Problem, but that’s why many Teams specifically create Builds that can damage and Poison downed Players to make it possible to stomp them before being revived.

What the heck? You comparing damage classes can deal vs downed skills was completely kittened. 1st off, I can EASILY finish a downed player with Blackpowder and a stomp. Except for a Mes and Ele, Mes can vanish into stealth and summon illusions that deal an INSANE amount of damage (for a downed skill) and not to mention their illusions are still active from BEFORE they were downed. The Ele can mist form to RUN back to their allies, I’d like to see your teamplay stomp an INVULNERABLE ele.

All the downed system is is a time waster to troll your opponents after they already defeated you once. It belongs in PvE only.

Yet I still encounter around 7 out of 10 thieves still using it! They live and die by their heartseeker.

I use D/D/BS still. No one spams Heartseeker, do they? :O

Go hotjoin or WvW, you’ll see a lot of people HS spamming lol. It’s pretty hilarious.

While talking about ’’monsters’’ I think this enemy is the most weird one…

It’s those bandits running around with kegs, suicide bombing, yet, they don’t die themselves, or taking any damage at all.

I mean, what the hell? Running around with an explosive keg, put it down, fuse it, and not take damage yourself?! That enemy makes no sense!

(I know there are many weird enemies that doesn’t make sense but this one is beyond my imagination!)

We’ve only gotten weapon skins, and most of them were only obtainable by RNG from BLC. I would LOOOOOOVE new armor skins. I like the look of those new gauntlets (wasn’t able to get those due to RL stuff Q.Q) and back pieces though.

Yup gear is pretty expensive, thankfully they added it to WvW for badges and a little amount of gold. But still, I barely play an hour a day, it takes me ages just to get 5 gold lol. Unless I run CoF, but that’s so boring and so many elitists.

Just like some of the previous posters have said: anti-stealth traps are not gonna be a problem for the roaming thief. Too expensive, requires 10 supplies and the cost is just way too high.

The anti-supply trap is another thing. Just look at this new VotF video showing a thief own the enemy teams in WvWvW and denying them supply over and over again: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lv4P-kTBzE0

Now imagine somebody providing that thief stability or thief providing stealth for his ally full bunker guardian. Enemy teams won’t have any supplies. Gg, and another epic fail from Arenanet.

So in other words: this latest patch gave more power to thieves since they have the best access to stealth. So just relax and you can continue to play Thief Wars 2.

The zerg could’ve easily countered that with a stealth trap, it’s easy because these are the first days with the traps. Some people may not even know they exist, and others will just forget they even have them. You’ll see in a few weeks that trying to play that same trick he did won’t work when people realise this.

Anti-stealth traps are underpowered.

I’ve only been suffering a very minor amount of lag since the last patch. Before then it’s been the most lag-free mmo experience I’ve ever had. Beats the hell out of what I had to play through n DDO.

Yeah I used to have a 100% lag free experience with GW2 until after the SAB update, ever since then I’ve been lagging like crazy and have been barely playing. I even try to play with Best Performance preset, it doesn’t help much.

In this game, I lag immensely. It’s not FPS drops, it’s pretty much CRAZY rubberbanding. It happens EVERYWHERE but it’s really annoying because it only starts going crazy when I get into combat. For example, I play a thief where positioning yourself properly is really important. I can be literally standing 1mm behind enemies and my backstabs won’t hit, most times I’ll be behind someone then rubber band away from them then back again.

Not to mention the 1-2sec input delay I get regardless of where I am, is it just NZ/Aus that gets this problem? I’m on the fastest internet plan there is here, which is pretty pathetic how slow it is :\

Then aegis would DESTROY thieves, once you see them go stealth > aegis > block > thief revealed for 4 secs > CC > dead thief.

Of course, an experienced thief can get out of any battle alive as long as they dont get kitteny or are just good.

Seriously, every update you never fix the lag, it actually gets worse. In WvW I now have delayed skill activation, hits not registering when they’re right in the swing of my sword and CRAZY rubberbanding. The game is honestly unplayable right now, not only for me, but a lot of other people I play with.

I don’t know what happened to the flawless gameplay near launch, but it’s gone now, and I suspect never to return? Or are you actually planning on fixing this?

When a thief hides behind an obstacle and tries to insagib you out of stealth, they will obviously be laughed at when they fail. They deserve it.

I remember I was overlooking the supply camp next to the jumping puzzle and I get hit by this thief out of nowhere. I threw him off the cliff to his (oh so satisfying) death.

Other classes deserve respect when you beat them. They deserve a “/bow” for a good fight. No one has ever bowed to a thief that tried to gank them in a sneaky manner.

Go figure.

I saw a eley ride the lighting off a cliff when he was trying to hit me i just shadow steped out the way.

IMO the haters are the ones who don’t have a firm grasp of the class mechanics. More experienced players who know how to counter thieves just don’t seem to carry the same hate. The fact you were in sPVP and on a brand new character, supports this.

So please explain the counter for this…

Two thieves vs 20+

The only times when they are visible are;

When they have the ability to evade,
When they are out of range, and
When they are behind someone bursting them down.

While they did take damage, they didn’t take enough damage to die before that stealth debuff wears off and poof. They’re gone. When they become visible again, they have most (or all) of their health back, most (or all) of any conditions are gone.

Two against 20 and it was basicaly a stalemate. They were able to down players, but couldn’t finish any of us off. Too many people reviving.

No amount of skill can stand up to the sheer numbers we had. It is a crutch mechanic pure and simple.

Invisibility=/=Invincibility.

Time their C&D, when you see them pop SR, AoE the hell out of it. As soon as they’re out of stealth, use an Immobilize or CC, they won’t be able to survive for more than 2 secs if you got 20+ people on them.

I find it funny that so many people complain about a system that doesn’t exist. No one is saying that a duel system has to be based around invites. It could be exactly the same system as Costume Brawl. I.e. you set up a (free) “duel box”, and other players can then accept your duel by using the same box.

Which would duels still allow to happen in places where I don’t want them. Keep those anoying effects and sounds out of my field of view, allow them only in certain areas and you can have it, otherwise I am and will always be a no.

Yet people already have costume brawls everywhere, there’s always a box of fun in a city which creates a lot of sound and effects. There’s always people spamming their skills to show off the animations of their weapons, there’s always people using portals and portal guns and even more people using them.

The reasons you guys don’t want dueling are some of the most absurd ones I’ve ever heard.

It’s not like people are suddenly going to start running Warriors because there’s a new trait giving them a bit more damage against bunkers. As if that was their problem.

No, they’re getting bonus damage against boons (which any guardian will have at least 2 up all the time, they’re standard.) and 3 unblockable attacks. Since one notoriously powerful attack has been known to crit for 24k, this is a problem. Making it unblockable, and adding damage for the boons that should be protecting us? It’s beyond a joke.

It’s a little odd thematically, but I think it makes sense from a game-play perspective. Their point was that Thieves are too capable at burst and not capable enough anywhere else, which ‘forces’ Thieves into glass cannon builds, and that’s a very accurate assessment. I think that nerfing their burst potential in certain areas while also improving their attrition through healing and mobility is a worthy endeavor.

They are trying to improve Thieves’ survivability and reduce their dependence on having glass cannon spec to do anything.

but this is not the answer….atleast not by itself. they cut 33% of burst dmg and give us like a 12% heal? OMG a heal we wont even use bc we mostly use it as a opener. they had the brass to call it a finishing move….NO NO NO! HS is a finisher! jesus lol isnt that why the dmg goes UP alot as they have less HP? point is to get them to have less HP for skills like HS and executioner / thief infilitrators runes….cmon we all know STEAL is a best opener skill for thieves bc they are melee. all a person would have to doo is run with a bow and keep firing. we need it as a gap closer. warriors have whirl…etc jump…leap… cmon. common sense anet

So they fix confusion but they don’t fix BACKSTAB? I see favoritism.

Backstab doesn’t hit for much unless it’s against a light armor class or a glass cannon, backstab is also pretty much the only way to deal damage effectively on a D/D Thief if you don’t run mug.

I don’t see why they’re nerfing Confusion either though, I thought it was fine & I always fight against mesmers.
