I haven’t been playing GW2 recently and even before I stopped playing I could never be bothered playing the Living Story because it was just horrible.
Anyway, after watching the new(?) teaser trailer (Gates of Maguuma) I see a different group now instead of Logan, Caithe and the gang. What gives?
I never use to run SA until just last week, I’m sure that 95% of the population of rival servers I’m playing against are all running condi builds hahaha.
It’s because the dungeons are mind-numbingly boring and people just want the rewards at the end. Skipping it makes the run more gold per hour.
You say nobody wants to enjoy the fights? Well PvE consists of literally no strategy or skill, just mash buttons and you win.
I find it hilarious that people actually boast about clearing a dungeon the “proper” way like it’s some kind of godly feat.
I disliked where they were going with GW2 with all the zerg content and living story BS (which I still don’t like). But now it looks like they’re actually starting to listen to what some people have suggested.
Account wide Ascended gears, Legendaries, Dyes and WXP. A Wardrobe system, reset traits on the go (along with the introduction of NEW traits), no more repair costs, significant changes to guild rosters and finally, some real focus on sPvP.
I’m glad this is happening and I’m definitely going to be coming back to GW2, these kind of updates would definitely be what brings others that have left GW2 to return with renewed hope and more money for gems.
Funnily enough in GW1 people didn’t really like the random mini-system either.
Because it was basically: Either you get unlucky and get a completely worthless Mini (or one you already have) or if you are superlucky you get one that is more or less invaluable and could get enough money/ectos/whatever to get more or less whatever you want in the game. Now everyone gets the same thing, rather than hoping that the RNG (that people love to complain about) will give them something good.
Hoping to get lucky with the Mystic Toilet by throwing hundreds of gold at it isn’t the same as hoping to get lucky with a free Bday present.
Nope. Here’s a few reasons why:
-Nothing new for Personal Story, I guess the dragons are just chillin’.So it’s Game of Thrones MMO now?
Yeaahhhhh, sorry but I don’t understand that reference.
Actually, there’s a really easy way to nerf it…make it so it sets the blinding field on the target.
That’s easy to do?
The wings ruin their appearance.
Nope. Here’s a few reasons why:
-PvP is the same, literally. There is still only 1 type of mode you can play, which is Conquest.
-No new races, classes, weapon skills, utility skills or elite skills.
-Living story is what it always has been, lackluster content they spew out every few weeks. Quantity over Quality = Living Story.
-Nothing new for Personal Story, I guess the dragons are just chillin’.
-New armor and weapon skins being introduced into the game……obtainable via gemstore.
-Crap loot, though it is kinda better than it was in the early days.
-Scarlet.
If I were to modify stealth.
Failed attacks cause you to leave stealth.
Hell no, this would kill Thieves for a lot of people I know since we play with a constant 250+ms ping. We can literally be right behind someone and have our backstabs miss.
Youre not the only people and profession that play with high ping you know.
Also, backstab does the bonus damage from the sides too.But we are the only class that has our most powerful skill (backstab) come from stealth, revealed on miss means it’s a waste of an attack and we can’t use it again for another 4secs.
No, youre not the only class that have powerful skills on long cooldowns. 4s is nothing.
And those skills are also affected by ping.
Only other classes cant do it from stealth and are highly telegraphed.Again, to be honest I have nothing against the thief class, I dont think it needs any nerfs at all. Just the kitten Lyssa runes that carry the class so hard.
Miss with a C&D, you’re down 6 initiative. You miss that backstab then you’re right next to your opponent, revealed for 4 secs with only half of your initiative left if you don’t have 15 points in Trickey. With D/P it’s 9 initiative to stealth. Of course you can increase initiative gain, but Shadow Arts isn’t the best to build for in sPvP.
Atleast with other classes you can rotate through your skills, switch weapon sets and still have skills available. Thieves have a resource pool for our skills, if we don’t manage that correctly then we die. And 4s is a LOT for us, when we’re out of stealth we take a ton of damage, we don’t have invulnerables like other classes, clones, CC, HA. Stealth is our only defense and offense really.
Unless you run sword, but bleh, IS was nerfed to crap and so was vigor.
I would laugh so hard if after all of this they did another patch and LA looked exactly the same.
I remember people giving me kitten for suggesting exactly this.

I run a Hammer- mace/shield Warrior with Perplexity runes.

No grind = no goal to work towards = no point to continue to play. If you don’t want asc items no problem you can still effectively play the game. The problem lies that our society lacks patience. We want everything yesterday with as little effort as possiable.
Not really, Crafting is just boring. People want rewards that come from methods that contain more excitement and involvement, not just grinding materials and money.
If Anet made another segment to PS that was exciting and difficult but also fun and had an interesting storyline that awarded ascended gear at the end of it, then I for one wouldn’t care how long it took as long as I enjoyed the ride. Instead, in order to get Ascended weapons/armor we have to constantly zerg, killing the same things over and over again, creating the same things over and over again to level up crafting. It’s not fun, and that’s what games are made for.
Bleh, boring enemies, boring antagonist…
Would’ve been so much better if Scarlet was killed before this so that Jormag or Kralka-blabla could’ve invaded LA instead.
It was a stupid idea to sell a re-skinned TIER 3 CULTURAL armor. But Anet should’ve given a full refund to those who already bought it then let them decide for themselves whether it’s worth the purchase.
I’ve never played a sub-based game, and never will. Btw, if GW2 were to go P2P, I doubt they’d give us :
no need to buy bag and bank slots, expand this, expand that. Pay for boosters of various kind. Buy unlimited mining picks. What not…
That would probably also include less time gating, maybe a bit higher drop rates..
So they add content based on the guys that log in and spend 4 hours a day to do all the achievements of the game!
If you want that armor piece, then work hard to get it. Players aren’t Entitled to getting everything they want. Sometimes you have to EARN it.
You don’t need to work hard, the tasks you have to do are tedious and require little-to-no effort. All I see is another MASSIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIVE grind for a single pair of boots.
This, no. No more lazy armor sets that take existing sets and throw a random effect on them, please.
For those players that … support the game
You mean people who buy from gemstore? Yeah, they get rewards. People who have bought the product – the game – and don’t fund through the gemstore don’t deserve anything more, regardless of how many hours they’ve sunk in.
I think more stuff should be earned through in-game achievements, not by paying for it.
Anyway, as another poster had said, people could just afk a LOT and get rewards for literally doing nothing. If you have that much time to play then use that time to get rewards you want.
Most of them just don’t like the idea that other players can kill them. Yes things attack and kill you in PvE too but they’re usually a lot easier to beat and not as persistent.
Why do pve players whine about LW in EoTM – fist of all there are now queues so you can get in anytime you want – no more “I can’t adjust it to my playtime” arguments. There are no server specifications so even low-pop servers gain same amount of people as T1 servers do. You are not restricted to playing alone. The only difference is that there are more hostile creatures – be it Legendary Bosses or players.
The two things that make PVE players complain about PVE:
1. PVE players basically have a sort of combination of fear, anxiety, and anger at competition and the idea of other players being able to kill them.
2. In GW2, the mechanics of NPCs are extremely easy to predict and avoid. This makes it hard for PVE players to go into PvP where they are just taking advantage of some poorly designed NPC that simply requires them to dodge at the right moment every few seconds.
this is what happens when good PvE players go into wvw:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mCaEGzBkEuoseriously, scripted AI is better than 99% of the wvw and pvp players.
Nice try but that is a wvw player and the guys chasing are the pve ones.
nice try but he is not. he is my guild mate. he is a PvE player named Dub from the top PvE guild retaliate [rT] and the guys chasing are the wvw ones.
gg no re
Sounds like a general hardcore player guild to me, and those other players were just terrible tbh.
Yeah, barely any roaming from the server I’m in. Hopefully that’ll change with the Edge of the Mists
Hmmmm……maybe you’re just not as good as you think you are? You make yourself out like you’re some kind of god-tier player going like:
“Psh, no way, I didn’t lose to a Thief because he’s better than me. He’s obviously just OP and require no skill! And I refuse to listen to anyone who says otherwise or tries to give me advice on how to deal with them, I KNOW how to deal with them, OKAY?!
-sob sob-"
Concept art looks sexy imo, but it looks nothing like the in-game models. Even the shape of the armors aren’t the same.
Virtually zero lag here, but, I live very close to my internet hub, very good speed I pay dearly for and only a few hundred miles from the servers.
Ohhhh my envy.
Anyway, it’s hard for me to say if I’m lagging more since last patch since I live in New Zealand and 1-2sec delay is pretty much the norm for us. But I have noticed it gets REALLY bad at times where it hasn’t before, not sure if it’s just my internet playing up or the patch.
If it’s PvE, I won’t do it, just like the past Living Stories I haven’t done yet. (Every single one after the Queens Gauntlet.)
If it’s PvP however, I’m gonna have a lot of fun killing the PvE population
God, so many to choose from. Did they fire the GW1 armor designers or something? Because GW2 has such hideous armors.
Anyway, my pick would have to be Elite Luxon Assassin armor. But if Hero armor counted as well, I’d love Anton’s Deldrimor armor on my Thief <3

Oh god yes, I’d love to have my Assassin back. Spamming knockdowns was so fun.
Snipped as irrelevant.
OK, then where is YOUR suggestion besides open world or nothing? It’s amazing how you seem to like to make arguments, that can just as easily point out how unreasonable you are as well. So you have said it yourself, you want open world dueling and that is all you want, nothing more will do. If that is your only option, then I vote no dueling at all and will fight tooth and nail to stop the devs from adding it in.
usually when someone says “give me what I want and nothing else will do”, they get nothing. I am done with this thread, everything that needs to be said has been said in this and all of the other threads as well. The majority do not want open world dueling.End -Of – Story.
We’re being unreasonable? Wow hahaha
You don’t want dueling because of “player attitude” when there’s already loads of forums on how terrible the PvE community already is. You say the inclusion of Dueling would impact other players but never explain how so.
We want a dueling mechanic for convenience, we don’t like going through loads of servers to find one where -hopefully- no one will join (and 1600gems for a private server? hell no), we want to fight our friends and guildies with the gear that we worked for, for fun and for boasting rights. TO HAVE FUN basically, yet we have people like you that say “NOPE screw your fun, you can’t have it because well……ummmm, well you just can’t have it!”
I find thieves easy to kill on all classes except the ranger and necromancer. For the necromancer it’s down to my limited experience with the class, as I find they’re pretty tough.
Most of the imbalance is across the board though with 25 might stacks, blood lust and over the top condition damage, that needs a fix.
When I play my Nec, I just press F1, and mash 1. Dead Thief.
Sometimes I have to mix it up though, but no biggie.
You guys don’t know it yet, but this is a HUUUUUUUGGGGGEEEEEEE buff to thieves.
u r not too good at math i take it?
Soz, I probably didn’t sound the same as the mod about the initiative buff as much as I thought lol
EDIT: Not mod. Dev.
I live in NZ here, and the lag can get CRAZY. My good days still have at least a 1sec delay between inputs. Also, as someone else has already stated you get rubberband just by using normal skills on Thief. (infiltrators arrow and #3 on SB)
You’ll really only notice how much of a disadvantage you’re at in competitive PvP.
what makes wonder is why it got nerfed on first place… i never saw a single complain about sb….ever
Anet just nerfs Thieves outta spite cos’ they can’t beat em’ on their warriors.
You guys don’t know it yet, but this is a HUUUUUUUGGGGGEEEEEEE buff to thieves.
All the reasons people are listing that oppose dueling being added are some of the dumbest things I’ve ever read.
And your comment is supposed to support open world dueling how?
You are not doing much for your cause with statements such as that.
I’ve listed many reasons as to why it should be added in different threads regarding dueling, I don’t care to repeat them since all the anti-dueling people ignore them.
All the reasons people are listing that oppose dueling being added are some of the dumbest things I’ve ever read.
Yeah PvE needs people like you with that attitude trolling around. If you are going to support open world dueling perhaps you should not use insults to support your cause. It is that very attitude that people don’t want to see spill into PvE.
Oh no! don’t add dueling because of the bad attitudes people MAY bring!
Perfect example of the kind of player we do not want to have to deal with. When I mentioned the “community” that would make dueling a bad idea, THIS is what I was talking about.
And you’re a perfect example as to why this game never improves, shooting down ideas before they’re even tested. Dueling is already being done and it’s a positive, fun experience. What does adding a convenient dueling mechanic take away from the game exactly?
Oh no! don’t add dueling because of the bad attitudes people MAY bring!
Exactly and that is one reason people don’t want open world dueling if you read over all these threads. You can’t even control yourself from throwing insults in a thread about dueling. Now imagine you and those with the same mindset as you in the open world if dueling were an option. No thanks.
If there were a dueling option I’d be fight people that would want to fight and wouldn’t give a kitten about anyone else. All of you just need to grow a pair tbh, bad attitude is gonna be everywhere, it’s already in PvE with people hating living story, whiners about the champ train, people who kick others mid-dungeon for their friends.
Sounds like the PvE community is already full of trolls.
All the reasons people are listing that oppose dueling being added are some of the dumbest things I’ve ever read.

2 new bosses, 1 permanent, 1 temporary, a list of achievements to do.
Nothing other than living story till April.
That means no new:-
Quality of life stuff.
Nothing for PvP.
Nothing for WvW.Plenty of Scarlet thou…
Nooooooooooooo……. it’s not true…… There has to be more.
Ummmm, MORE GEM STORE STUFF!!!!!! \o/
All the reasons people are listing that oppose dueling being added are some of the dumbest things I’ve ever read.
if you can’t burst down a thief before he re-stealth then you will never kill a good player thief that perm stealth to recover on 1v1. That’s how broken this mechanic is in wvw. However, I find mesmers to be a lot more annoying using constant stealth than the actual thieves.
but mesmer cant perma stealth
they got CD on stealth who thief didnt got
90% of the time stealth mesmer dont solo roaming
Thieves gotta give up a utility spot to achieve perma-stealth now, and it’s not worth it since it’s obvious where they’re doing it so you can just lay down damage.
Seriously, what’s going on? The lag is very annoying, I lag every single time I get into a fight.
We are trying to take steps to address some of the dominance of Berserker/DPS players. More info next week, I think.
Jon
Got to wonder how people go from “addressing” issues to OHNOES!! They N3rfing mah zerkers!!!
relax people…sheesh.
How can the people not worry? Anet handles ANYTHING implemented into the game TERRIBLY.
Your second argument is rather funny. Out of initiative, lol… Yes, then you stealth and have all of it back before even dropping out of stealth. There is a reason you can perma stealth. Its the initiative system that break the stealth system to begin with – no cooldowns, few limitations.
>Person complaining about Thief mechanics
>Doesn’t even know how they work
So the last couple of days I’ve been getting crazy lag like: teleporting to an enemy then getting rubberbanded back to my original spot (use to happen a few times before, but now it’s happening 90% of the time), crazy rubberbanding in general, enemies teleporting from spot to spot, skill activation being delayed by more than 2 secs, finishing an enemy without it actually finishing them (use to happen on rare occasions as well but could easily be corrected by moving to a closer spot in the direction they were running where they would’ve been downed. This time it just fails everytime when it happens, not sure if hacks or the lag.)
Because gw2 was supposed to be an upgrade, not a new game entirely of questionable merit.
And it is an upgrade.
But maybe not an upgrade in the way you wanted it to be.What would be the point in spending a massive amount of money to create a game they have already created but with nicer graphics?
If I knew GW2 would end up like this, I’d have preferred they spent that massive amount of money on building GW1 with more content and updated visuals.
You can still make a Warrior of a different race, just buy another character slot
And you can change the sex of your character with a Extreme Makeover kit.
