[Missing feature] Sharps for instruments

First off, the instruments are amazing.
However, there’s a big issue…
With just about any song I’m wanting to play, they have flats and sharps.
It turns out that flats and sharps are really common in music.
Now, the flats are just disguised sharps, so that’s neat and dandy… But we still need sharps for the instruments.

The buttons for the sharps would be F1-F5, which the minstrel in question then can rebind to whatever they like, should they wish.
It’s a bit too perfect to leave it out, isn’kitten
It just so happens that there are 5 sharps and 5 spare, unused buttons to place them on.

An instrument without sharps is like a house without a roof.
It works to live in, but in some cases, it will rain down upon you and you will be miserable and sad.

ANet, pretty please.
At some point when you’re recording other sounds anyways, just record a fresh set of sharps for the instruments? Setting up the instruments for it and hooking up the sounds shouldn’t be that hard when you already have the system and the keys in place, right?

If DR does get a makeover, I want a Canthan District.

That’s literally the only reason to rebuild DR. But we can build that onto Ebonhawke instead, when we expand the city to fit all the refugees.

That is insane.

Even if it’s getting destroyed (there’s no guarantee of that, DR has been attacked before)
of course they’ll rebuild it. And they should, the devs can’t leave one race without a capital city, it wouldn’t make sense.

That’s how war works.

Never rebuilding what you lost, even when you win, is how war works?
Even if that was true (it isn’t) this isn’t real life. It’s a game.

Every race currently has a capital city, and it should stay that way.

Don’t get me wrong, I’m not against DR getting destroyed (even though I doubt it will happen). I’m just against never rebuilding it, that would be ridiculous.

War destroys things, many times beyond repair.
If the enemy seizes the location, then you don’t get access to it (easily).

Why would every race need a capital city?
It would be more interesting if that wasn’t the case.
If humans would have to seek refuge in the other cities, especially Black Citadel.
Besides, humans also have Ebonhawke. Fits well that it’s the last bastion for humanity.
Sure, it’s smaller than DR. And that’s why we’re building refugee camps outside the city. Perfect.
That gives us a segway to the Crystal Desert as well.

Leave the new humans to enter the game in a refugee camp instead.
They can still access the personal story in a pre-destruction map, similar to Lion’s Arch, since that happened, chronologically, a long time ago.

I’m quite curious how much the sneaky devs are giggling at us right now for how they so neatly pulled the wool over our eyes with their well timed comment about the old Lake Doric map on reddit.
Would pay for being at their office and hearing their comments to eachother.

And yet the attack is clearly coming from the exact same area where Lake Doric is (was?) located. Though the lake is probably being drained because we see a large dam being destroyed in the trailer.

So even if Anet said that we won’t go to Lake Doric (I have seen no such statement) they didn’t technically lie. If the white mantle blow up the dam and drain the lake, there technically isn’t a lake anymore.

I believe there was a post from a dev on reddit that stated we were not going to get the lake Doric map.

“Wardrobes” in home instance or on a UI panel or in the bank for all the different clutter items in the inventory

Bookcase / Library
I want someplace to store my Marjory’s Journal, Zinn’s Study Guide, Scarlet Briar’s Journal, Apprentice Kasandra’s Diary, Justiciar Bauer’s Memoirs, Grand Savant Valis the Learned’s Research Journal, Hidden Letter “xxx”, etc etc.

A device box for all the Class II Rift Stabilizer, Exalted Portal Stone, Levvi’s Device etc devices you get from the different kinds of content.

Tonic shelf for all the different tonics.
Also make all infinite tonics toggle on/off like the Kodan battle tonic.
(That goes for the watchwork one as well).

A consumables cupboard would be neat as well.
For all the foods and oils and stones and what not.
Have the option to put x number of consumables into an auto-refresh inventory so that any consumable that is in that inventory, but not active, gets auto-consumed. That way you can select for how long you want it and not having to refresh it.

Toy box as Jayne suggests above as well. (Edit)

The items where charges are insignificant, like the Levvi devices etc, you can duplicate from the wardrobe onto any character in any number.
The items with charges, such as non-infinite potions and consumables naturally use a charge of the stack when using them or pulling them into the inventory much like how the materials tab works.

Here’s how it affects those not involved: The combatants will be tossing off effects and rolling around through clumps of people trying to stand peacefully. Or they’ll be obscuring events.

I don’t know about you, but every time I visit Divinity’s Reach, I see people throwing meteor showers at nothing. This doesn’t change anything in that regard.
Besides, if those “clumps” of people are doing nothing other than standing around, how do you suggest that they would be disturbed by it any more than random people throwing random effects at nothing?
Fighting could even be banned in cities, possibly other than at certain areas like the fighting pits or the shrine of Balthazar. That would be no problem.
They can’t really “obscure” events either since they’ll be contributing as well as their damage will add up with your damage. And if they weren’t fighting, they would be there throwing effects around anyways, so +/- 0.

And that’s assuming the people that want to engage in PvP with random others in the world won’t harass those who don’t want to with spammed requests or insults of “You chicken?”

Why would they?
If they wanted to be a butt, they can be a butt now through various means.
It’s not the gun that kills, it’s the person holding it.
And for the rare people that do act like butts, there’s a right click – block feature and a right click – report – verbal harassment feature.

I don’t get what this adds to the game. There are already 2 ways to engage in PVP in this game … we need another?

The thing is, you people who say that you don’t want it.
You still get to not use the feature.
So I don’t really see what your point is?
You’ll keep not being affected by it.
Nobody will gank you unless you put on your pvp outfit.
There are other people than you playing the game, who want to use features like this for various reasons.

As for WvW, no, that’s completely different.
In WvW, you don’t get to know who the enemy is.
You can’t do organized duels or GvG without the enemy being on one of the 2 opposing teams and you still don’t get to know who is who on the enemy teams.
There is no way to set up a proper tournament for GvG for example.
And you can’t go in to WvW or PvP to duel your friends while waiting for the worldboss to spawn either.

The reason for using outfits (or other items) for it rather than setting an option on or off is that then you’re able to have different teams without friendly fire and it enables lore-appropriate content for the feature.

But yes, it can absolutely be done with for example potions or other items as well, there’s no specific need for an outfit to be the vessel.

So I’m not sure if it was meant to happen or if it was a bug, but I think most of us know by now that the story lets us put on a Mursaat armor, which makes you targetable by players, although it also makes you immune to them .

This led me to an idea, which Blade and Soul already implements.
Flag for pvp by using outfits of different factions.
An inquest outfit would be an example of an obvious choice.
You put the inquest armor on and your name becomes for example orange to normal players to indicate that you’re flagged for pvp. For someone that’s flagged with a faction that does not allign with the inquests, for example Peacemakers or just about any other faction.
These examples may not be the best, for Blade and Soul had the problem that there were too many factions and most of them were largely unused. A small number of factions would be better.
Switch outfit to switch faction. Cannot switch faction while in battle or while in a faction quest area. Can remove outfit while defeated in order to avoid spawnkilling.

This opens up open world pvp to those who want it and those who want peace cannot be targeted since they’re not wearing said outfit.
By this you have the possibility to duel people wherever you are.
You can have guild battles with many different gamemodes wherever you want. Try to clear jumping puzzles first, with pvp. Kill the worldboss. Ordinary battle to destroy eachother. Etc.
It gives roleplayers the possibility to roleplay as enemies and have real battles as part of the roleplay.

Content-wise, ANet can have a small area of the world where quests are given to players of a certain faction in order to get rewards such as resources ore special gear for that faction. Those quests would then make players of different factions try do their quests in the same area, making them fight over getting their quests done. Switching outfits would reset the quest progress.

For implementation, ANet already has the ability to change the team of the player in PvE, as demonstrated with guild arenas, in the raids and with the Mursaat armor whether the last one was intentional or not. So using that system and putting it as a special effect on an outfit probably shouldn’t be too hard or too much work.
Ideally, the outfits would be available for inworld purchase in appropriate locations to those factions or perhaps by killing a number of NPCs of that faction to then steal an outfit from them.

All of this would be optional for the people who want it and those who don’t just don’t have to participate by not flagging themselves. It’s one of the systems that I think was really interesting with Blade and Soul, although a bit poorly implemented since it was only the main 2 factions that had any quests and reason to play as. However for those two main factions it worked nicely.

Class Stacking - Can we prevent it?

Yes please, remove the stacking.
Have the matchmaking make teams with at most 1 player of each class and prevent players from joining back into the game if they switch to a character that is of a class already present in the team, still allowing switches to other classes.
It would be great if the game could be balanced so that each class is equally valuable, but that’s not the case and stack-prevention would automatically help balancing the game and remove cheese.
This would also make timers longer for more desireable classes and timers shorter for less desireable classes and would thus also balance how many plays each class depending on how long they want to wait. A good or a bad thing depending on how you view it.

Griffonrook Run will be broken, as will the the Orr one where you gather those 12 or so keythings to open the chests, but other than that I can’t think of any JP right now that would suffer very much from gliding unless done something about.

for me no ( i don’t play ele often ) . the reason is simple . if you can not go through diamond skin with your direct damage it is a problem of your build…. too lower direct damage .

What about those builds that open with a condi bomb?

Simple.
Don’t open with a condi bomb and get help from teammates if you can’t do a few points of damage yourself.

Positioning.
Communication.
Tactics.

Don’t try to solo an ele that’s sitting on a point. Go 5v4 elsewhere instead.

Don’t try to bash your face into everything you see, analyze the opponent and change your tactic to suit it.

It’s a team game, not pve faceroll.

Beating an ele is easy if you just do it right.

Use to be suggestion forum but Anet close it. They say it was too hard for dev to find suggestion in topic they have interest in. That forum also move really fast too.

That’s right, the Suggestions Forum was hard to parse. Having individual suggestions in the appropriate forum — a suggestion about Warrior balance in the Warrior forum, for instance — makes it easier to gather the input.

Perhaps the forum experts could act as a bridge and resolve that issue if they’re not already doing that. Or someone can maintain a running catalog of sorts for all suggestions.

Both my team (EN (2), FR, DE and ES) and our Forum Specialists do gather and share suggestions with the developers, yep.

I would suggest a public (to players) bug-report and suggestion platform like JIRA or the similar thing that google has where people make entries with searchable tags and suggested priority/severity level or what the problem is about as well as flags like “Bug”, “Suggestion”, “Criticism” or whatever types you wish.
Then there’s a comment section for the other users to give additional information.
Any user can also flag the entry as duplicate and link it to the duplicate one and then it can be moderated as mods see fit (removed, merged, keep the duplicate).
Would be easy to search and moderate.

It could possibly tie in to your private company tracker in that that the public system is duplicated into your bug tracker, with a flag on the entry that it’s from the public and not from the company.

Then when an issue is being worked on, it is flagged as such in the tracker.
When it’s done, it’s flagged done and the delivery date.
Then when delivered, it’s flagged as such.

The big big big advantage to this over the current system is transparency and that people see exactly what you know about, what you’re currently working on and what’s done and ready to launch.
This is good because then people can clearly see that things are happening and don’t have to worry, rumour monger or complain about stuff and everyone becomes happier.
EDIT: Aside from being much more structured than random forum posts that are easy to lose track of.

TL;DR:
1 effect slot per equipment (armor, weapon, trinket) slot
1-4 dye channels per effect
Strip effects from current items and make them unlockable effects, like dyes or armor skins.
Wardrobe for effects.
Restrictions for effects and what slot they can be placed in (and what kind of item has to be in the slot)
Increases customizability and compatibility and gives the devs a clear framework to work within instead of creating “hacks” for each effect.

It would be very nice if we could get one effect slot per armor, weapon and trinket item and that we then could put different types of effects into the different types of slots with different requirements for the effects.

It would also be nice if those effects would have their own dye channels as well.

One example would be to take the Zodiac armor blue starry shimmer thing and make that into an effect.
The requirements for the effect could be that it needs to be applied to an armor slot but the armor needs to be one compatible with that effect as well (in this case, perhaps only the zodiac armor).
And then the dye for the effect leads to that we could have green, blue or pink effects of it for example.

Another example would be the new wintersday shoulder effect.
Requirement would be to put it in perhaps a shoulder slot or if it’s deemed less important how it can be combines, it could perhaps be put into any armor or any trinket slot.
As for the dye channels, it could have 2 or 3 that makes the snowflakes different colors. That way, some snowflakes could be pink, some other could be blue or you could have 3 different kinds of white for the flakes…. Or yellow if you like.
The legendary effects could be made to be used with other weapons. But if the effects could be used regardless, then for example engineers could have all their legendary effects on all their kits.

All this in an effects wardrobe that unlocks much like the normal wardrobe.

I believe that the implementation shouldn’t be too tricky.
It would require some amount of rework to allow for dyes to be used on effects. Much of it could be copied from how the armor dyes work, but the textures or particle effects would have to be made greyscale if they aren’t already.
The UI would mostly be copypaste and would be fairly easy.
The system the effects use right now, of course would have to change and I would assume that’s the part with the most work, but I feel that has to be done regardless to have a robust platform for it instead of that one item carries the effect in one way and another item carries the effect in another way. This rework would allow for much more freedom in creating new effects and clear rules for the developers on how the effects should be used and created.

Currently it feels more like a hack than a robust system.
For example, the wintersday aquabreather carries the effect with the item, not the skin.
The legendary weapons carries the effect with the skin, not the item.
The ghostly infusions carry the effect via an infusion, not an item or a skin.
The queen bee is an exotic jewel, not an infusion, item or a skin.

If changed this way, it would allow for more compatibility and customizability.

Go to pvp and put on a healing power trinket.
It’s stupid, yes, but it works.
I get 3-4k heal ticks from the middle in toypocalypse and can easilly outheal Toxx while tanking him.

You want to play with your friend. You wait till he climbs the ladder like you did.

You still have Unranked and Hot Join to “play with your friend”.

What’s even the point with being so overzealous?
You can just have a weighted average MMR depending on division.
Simplified example:
Now:
5 diamonds:
5 + 5 + 5 + 5 + 5 —> Avg 25/5 = 5 -> division 5
2 diamonds, 3 amber:
5 + 5 + 1 + 1 + 1 --> Avg: 13/5 = 2.6 -> division 2-3

Weighted arithmetic mean using the division as the weight:
5 diamonds:
5*5 + 5*5 + 5*5 + 5*5 + 5*5 / 5 + 5 + 5 + 5 + 5 = 5 -> division 5
2 diamonds, 3 amber:
5*5 + 5*5 + 1*1 + 1*1 + 1*1 / 5 + 5 +1 +1 +1 = 53 / 13 = 4.07 -> division 4

Math.
It works.
Good luck winning with 3 amber against a full team of ruby.
And it still allows you to play with friends.

Ruby&Diamond shouldnt lose tiers

As it is now, I’m probably not going to bother trying to rank further in ruby, which I will reach in 5 wins.
Now I don’t know what division I’m supposed to be in depending on my skill, but I know that the game will try to give me balanced matches no matter what division I am in.. and I can deal with 50% win chance in earlier divisions, but not when I have to get 30 wins (if I don’t lose anything) in order to advance. Then I want to fight people that are supposed to be on that tier so that if I’m good enough, I’ll have an easy time making it to the next or if I’m supposed to be there, that’s where my 50% win rate starts.

You do realize they waited an hour in Q. Not for all those matches, but I was watching the stream last night and they had an hour Q. Should they wait forever? Or should they atleast get one match in when there is no one near their division or should they continue to wait until more diamond people log on in like 3-4 hours? I don’t think it’s fair to pair them against pugs or casual teams, but you can’t help that the community isn’t nearly as big as ANet wants it to be. Here’s how I see it:

-They wait an hour in Q and get a match and most likely have to wait a pretty long time in Q again after that match

-You wait 2 minutes in Q, get destroyed by them and then get another Q after the match in about 2-3 minutes. Can’t really complain when you are getting 2-3 more matches than they are.

“They” are wairing hours because they’ve made several guild teams only to farm wins when that bug was there and now they’ve started recruiting amber and emerald players to farm more wins, or even using alts of those ranks.
There are 2 teams on EU that have 5-8 or so spots on the top 25 guild team leaderboard because of that.
I don’t feel sorry for them.
I do think the system is too easy to exploit.
I do think they are exploiting the system.
I do think it takes too long time to reach a rank that you’re supposed to have based on your skill.
And I do think that consecutive wins should award bonus pips and pips should be harder to lose and that along with heavier weighting on the higher ranks when calculating the team MMR/division would solve most of the issues.

Basically they went on a journey to the the park with a bunch of guys where they were supposed to walk. They however took a car instead just to get there first and now they’re complaining that people aren’t there yet to play with them.

Actually, clearing any more profession specific achievements than that of the tier you are on, doesn’t progress the achievement any further.

The class specific achievements only progress the achievement that requires you to clear x number of class achievements and then there are 10 other achievements that has to be done.

It says on the achievement what it progresses.

As for the raid.
If you’re so uncomfortable switching roles that you can’t switch away from the one you’ve chosen, you won’t be able to raid.
Raiding is about constantly figuring out what is needed and see how you can fill that gap.

The thing with the raids is that they are DPS races against the clock and at the same time you’re not allowed to die.
As such you do the least effort you can to not die, just so that it works and then you put the rest of the effort into DPSing.

Also you absolutely cannot have 2 tanks in the raid, so if you and your friend wants to raid together, one of you is going to have to take another role.

Not trying to be elitist here, but that’s just how it is. If you need damage, you need to take people who can do damage.

If you feel confident in your ability to do the raid and nobody is willing to take you, then set up your own raid group with your own rules.
But keep in mind that raids aren’t casual strolls across the meadows, you can’t do like with dungeons and just take whatever roles you want and still clear it.

About tangled depths meta event, that’s also a DPS race but the difference there is that the only mechanic is interacting with things or killing things and because of that, anything other than damage classes is pretty much worthless. What are you going to tank? There’s nothing to tank. What are you healing? Nobody to heal. Again, not being elitist.. It’s just how ANet has made the game.

Not saying that I like it, just explaining the situation.

The 15k ap requirement is just stupid though, I’ll give you that.

Support told me that all 4 lanes need to succeed and the item would be in the chest. I’ve been trying to kill this thing for like 5 days now. Nobody is doing it, none of the big guilds are doing anything. I’ve tried to organize a few times now and nobody listens and nuhochs broken and the whole event is a big mess and anet won’t even respond.

Not only does Nuhoch have a scaling issue, SCAR also requires a full lane team of full ascended zerk DPSers that purposedly fail to defend the sonic thingies beyond lvl 0, otherwise they simply cannot do enough damage to the gerent.

Timer Madness

Tangled Depths – Takes 15-30 min to do the meta event if you spread out. Then you need to wait for 1h+ or so until the next meta boss.
Usually that means that the map you start doing the meta event on will be completely abandoned when the gerent spawns, because people just don’t want to wait that long.

For TD, my suggestion is to change the cucle to 1h or 1.5h instead of 2. It’s way too long to wait.

Dragon’s stand could just have the timer start on map creation or when the first event is done, instead of having it on a global timer. The global timer means that there is no point what so ever to go to the map when there’s 30 min left on the timer. And it means that when you’ve done the boss, you’ll likely have too little time to start up a new map, which means that you’ll have to wait around unnecessarily.
When a map becomes organized, it fills up fast anyways and after the initial 30 mins, it’s very hard to find an organized map. Having the timer start on startup would mean that if you want, you can, at any time, just start a new organized map and still have time to taxi in people and figure out who’s commanding and all that. Unless you’re a guild or community, that’s not very easy when there’s like 1h left on a map because there’s quite a bit of logistics.

For Dragon’s Stand, my suggestion is to start the timer on map startup or first event completion and have it as long as ANet feels is ok. This way, the after-boss timer can also be changed to allow for more time to get your well-deserved loot.

If you don’t have much time on the day, you can’t afford to “wait around to have fun”.

Hint missing api/v2/items

I think hints are part of the collection, not part of the item.

The Tempest North Wind warhorn collection required Machined Warhorn twice instead of Tempest Loop, the armor piece. However the hint for the instance of Machined Warhorn that was instead of Tempest Loop had the correct hint for Tempest Loop while the real Machined Warhorn had the hint for the Machined Warhorn. (This is now fixed)

This very strongly suggests that the hint is indeed in the collection, as you say, and specifically that very space in the collection, as opposed to being tied to any item.

I was only able to invite people to my raid party that were in the very same instance as me.
I could not right click on people in my friend list or guild to invite them.
They were not in a party and not in a raid or squad.
I could not invite people in other instances of the same map.
I could not invite people from LFG, trying to click join makes me get ripped out of my raid party, without confirmation, and get placed in their party.
What follows is that my raid group cannot invite me back or seemingly invite anyone else and I could not join them in any way.

My wishlist:

  • Support raids in LFG -at least- by letting people invite to raid. Posting a raid on lfg could be nice as well, but not necessary.
  • Fix the robustness of the raid squads with decent warnings about what is going to happen if you try to do something that is probably not desireable, like getting ripped out of your raid group and be placed in a party. And the issue with not being able to be invited back to the raid (because the leadership and options wasn’t properly inherited? unsure? something?)
  • Make it possible to invite people from the friendlist and guildlist.
  • Give us a part of the Squad UI dedicated to inviting people, like with a normal party, where you write the name of a person and regardless where they are in the world or any other world, continent, isntance or coffee house, they should be invited to the squad/raid (except if they’re cross EU/NA servers naturally).

Maxed a character when gems were cheap, back in the days..
By then it was an ok price to buy them with gold.
Now I’m not even considering upgrading my other 8 characters.
I just get annoyed that they don’t have the slots and then I’m done with that.
If they would lower the price to a reasonable one, I might even bring the credit card out for it.
But as it stands, I’d rather buy every single outfit and armor set in the gem store and actually get something out of my gems than buying 20 more slots for 10g + 400 gems, times 4 per character times 8 characters. No thank you.
400 gems is too much for me.
The next person can pay it if he wants, I’ll just take more trips to the vendors.

Floors disappear (why!?) and doesn’t re-appear.
Some of the winds make you swirl up, but you don’t get to open the glider and instead fall to your inevitable death.
Puppets won’t go onto the rocks but teleport around on the vines sometimes, and then suddenly they start going on the rocks again.

I’m on my 8th try now. And all the times, I’ve died to bugs or failing mechanics.

I suppose that’s a possibility, but that feels kinda weird.
The game also won’t treat it as the new dagger, but as a reskinned incinerator. (Not sure that will ever make a real difference though).

I do think though that collections are a bit wonky since they’re not repeatable.
If I accidentally or otherwise delete a reward from a collection, it can never be re-acquired (other than through support tickets).
It would be great if the ones with unique rewards could be made repeatable somehow.
Or if there was an NPC that sold formerly acquired unique collection rewards for currency. That way, I could get a Princess for each of my characters if I wanted to.

Actually, though i’m sure it won’t apply to the rarest collection items, you can buy many of them again from the guy that unlocks the spoon collection, one example is the ascended accessories from dungeon rewards.

Yes, look at that… They already have the technology for it.
I think they should start using it for other stuff, like Princess and Mawdrey II for example.
Currently he only sells said accessories and 3 different consumable recipes according to the wiki.

So the news says "For future sets of legendary weapons, this gift will only come from a large collection achievement that is unlocked after completing the collections and recipes associated with crafting your precursor weapon. This fourth collection is a continuation of the themed journey that was in the first three precursor collections, and it will take roughly the same amount of effort that those three required combined. "

Currently, collections aren’t repeatable.
That means that said gift needed for a legendary isn’t repeatedly available, despite the precursor collection supposedly giving a recipe for creating precursors?
As new legendaries can only be acquired through the new system and they are account bound, that would then mean that you’re limited to 1 per account.
For the sake of for example daggers, that would mean that you cannot have 2 of the same legendary dagger, dual wielded (you can still reskin another weapon, but then it isn’t stat-changeable and it’s not legendary). And you can’t give both your necro and druid a legendary staff of the same kind.
Is this an oversight or is it intended?

There are going to be several new Legendaries plus crafting for all precursors. All of these need the shards. Possibly several hundred of them. Since some people will refuse to PvP and some people will want to buy to hurry it up, the shards are likely to be a good price. How much is impossible to say but they could well be a better value than T-charges.

They -could- be worth more… or they -might not-.
But connecting them would mean that they have a guaranteed lower value. Sort of like a gold standard of sorts.
It would also be “fair” since they take away those 2 slots from the pvp reward track.
So as long as they are worth more, then pvp reward trackers get more value.
But when they are worth less, then pvp reward trackers don’t lose out on the deal and get scrap currency.

Black lion ticket scraps make BL tickets, which can be used to buy skins from BL traders. You gather 10 scraps which are then tradeable for a ticket.

Effectively this would extend the same principle to keys so instead of getting 1 key you have to get 10 shards. The shards could drop 10 times as often as keys, making them far more common, even if you don’t get any more keys than present. Then you do know how many shards you have so how close to the next key you are.

And with the added bonus that you can include the shards for repeatable content like pvp reward tracks and still control the rarity by controlling how many shards are needed for a key and how many you get from completing a track.
You can’t necessarily give a full key for each completed repeatable track since that may give out too many keys to players. That is likely why ANet will only give full keys for one-shot content. Key scraps, as said, solves that issue and they can be given repeatedly.

You can, if you want, sell the glory shards and then use the funds for transmutation. It’s 3 steps (instead of just one), but it gets the job done and allows others to make use of the shards you might not want.

That won’t work. They are going to be account bound.

That is correct.
I missed out on that personally.
I think the issue persists somewhat though since shards of glory still will be worthless to the majority of the playerbase, as most people likely won’t have the time or money for crafting legendaries if I understand it correctly.
As such, it would be nice with a guaranteed sink for the item for those people that don’t want it and see more value in the transmutation charges they got before.
The market may get flooded with the items quickly if not enough people need them.
But I do see part of my point as moot with them being tradeable.

A once per account black lion key is a rather underwhelming announcement.
It’s a rather insignificant item when you can only get it once per account I think.
So my suggestion is that black lion key shards could be implemented.
X number of shards gives 1 black lion key.
Shards could be distributed in the pvp reward tracks (and the rest of the world) to give players that little extra sometimes.

The reason for shards rather than keys would be that the low droprate needed for a key would mean that there is no progression. It’s just pure RNG. Nothing to work for, and that’s rather boring.
With shards, you could guarantee a shard for each time you complete a pvp reward track and through that, let people have their progression while still maintaining the rarity of the keys.

I don’t really see a specific need to include the keys as drops in the game at all to be honest, as they are buyable through the gem store for gold-bought gems, but ANet seem to want to have it as a rare reward once in a while and even make news about it, so I present this as an alternative, repeatable, yet rare way of doing it.
One-shots are pointless for insignificant consumable items, but rare repeatables of said consumable items are more interesting and make for better announcements according to me.

Arent there a currency already in the game called black lion ticket scraps, why add a shard all of a sudden?

Tickets scraps (not sure of the name) are for weapons.
The suggested shards are for combining into black lion keys that would be for opening chests.
GW2 has very low drop rates on Black Lion Keys in PvE and ANet have just recently announced that they are “very excited” to announce that they will be offering black lion keys as a reward for some one-shot pvp reward tracks.
Since ANet wants to include keys as a reward, I’m suggesting to make it repeatable and rare, with visible progress instead of/in addition to one-shots.
Because I think that one-shots are rather pointless for a consumable item that, in few numbers, often give no value.
I simply think that this is a better way of doing it.

So it has been announced that 2 of 4 transmutation charges in the pvp reward tracks will be replaced by shards of glory, that will be used for legendary crafting.
However, not everyone wants to craft legendaries, because it requires a lot of work and possibly money.
So for those people, I suggest that you make shards of glory tradeable for transmutation charges, so that the pvp track change doesn’t mean a loss for them. Possibly, you could also buy other things for the currency.
I do think this is rather insignificant for myself, but it should be easily implemented and shouldn’t cause any negative effects if put in place, since it would just make it +/- 0.
Even though it wasn’t announced as far as I can see, I recognize that this may already have been planned and in that case, good. Otherwise I suggest that it will be planned. Scrap currency is no fun for anyone.

I certianly see what you’re trying to do with the new system with the buffs.
You’re trying to prevent people from tagging the event and then afking.

The downside to it is that people hop around like bunnies, tagging the attackers to gain a lot of stacks of the buff, not helping out with killing them.
People who do stay to kill them don’t get nearly the stacks you need for max reward.
Another problem is that once you get 10 stacks, you know you need to get to 20 to get the next tier reward and you look at the time and realize that over half the time has gone, so you just go and afk for the rest of the time because you know you won’t get it anyways, thus capping up the map without participating and helping.
Thus, with this system, you’re incentivizing what you’ve earlier tried to disincentivize.

An option to that system could be:


Afk and you’re kicked. Participate and the whole map gets more rewards.


That makes it so that if you leave the event, you don’t gain the buff and you don’t get the reward and thus you can’t hop around and tag. You have to stay.


You get the buff at the start of the event or when you join the map for the first time during the event. Buff has a short duration that is renewed constantly when you are actively doing things to help the event. Not short enough to stress you out, but short enough that if you don’t participate, you lose it. If you lose the buff, you won’t get the reward at the end. If you actively participate, you keep the buff and you get a portion of the reward at the end equal to the percentage of time you spent in the event out of the maximum (with some optional grace period in the beginning). This also prevents people from joining in the last second. Alternatively the buff gains stacks based on the time you spend doing the event, not the number of attacks you go to.


For veterans, there’s no point in doing it. You gain nothing you don’t have and nothing is really worth any gold. So why should veterans socialize with the new people during this event when they have to grind for no reward? Put in some rewards that veterans can enjoy as well and they will stay around with the new people and everyone will get more connections. Could be as simple as some crafting materials (enough so that it is worth it over just doing chest farm or something instead!)
Also the time it takes to get the rewards from the NPC is ridiculous. A friend wanted the toxic skins, but when she realized that she’d need to spend basically all her awake time during the weekend in order to get them, she just gave up instead. That’s not viable.

It was also stated HoT would take place immediately after S2 without pause. So technically speaking we are in a frozen point from that perspective. That discrepancy I notice is noted in the wiki article you linked.

The personal story in Heart of Thorns will continue right after those events, yes. However personal stories are more of flashbacks.
You can make a new character right now and play the core game personal story with it, but it doesn’t occur right now, it occured a few years ago, timeline wise.

I’m not sure why we’re discounting the Zephyrites from being a source of jade. Yes at this point in the story they’re basically a non-faction but don’t forget Lion’s Arch had a trade agreement with them for months before the events of season 2. Who’s to say Canthan jade wasn’t among the things traded?

True. However, we didn’t see any jade trade, which we kinda should have due to the size of the blocks. It would be near impossible to hide them. It’s an enormous amount of jade that’s been used at the memorial.

But even if they did come with jade, and we didn’t see it… Would you really buy a bunch of jade and stock it up and not use it for anything?

The second last time the Zephyrites came, Lion’s Arch was still standing, so jade could not have been ordered with the intent of building the memorial. And whatever was ordered during their last visit, obviously never got delivered. So any jade ordered by them should have been for other purposes, which it hasn’t.

And even so, that was a year and a month ago, only a month after Lion’s Arch had fallen. It’d be pretty much impossible to have plans for the rebuilding ready by then. Let alone the funds.

So I dunno, but Zephyrites seem unlikely in my book.

Maybe they just dumped huge blocks of marble into the Mystic Forge. . .

Nice try, but if they did, they’d get granite back.. if they were lucky.

But it’s been 250 years since Shiro’s influence was eradicated from Cantha. I thought it was mentioned somewhere that the Jade sea would return to normal after a while, and 250 years is a long while.

If it has or if it hasn’t, there’s still a block of Jade in the Durmand Priory’s secret archives that is intact, and from the jade sea. So even if the sea is returned to normal, blocks of jade that has been broken loose evidently hasn’t.
