Hero Points being soulbound is OK. That’s how it always was. The items to buy Hero Points in WvW being soulbound is kinda annoying though. But I can understand the reasoning.

It definitely sucks if WvW players have the edge in unlocking specializations over other players although they really deserved it by now for all the kitten they had/have to go through.

I didn’t factor in the gem cost of mystic forge stones because you get them for free, and in large amounts, from achievement points. I have enough to make roughly 83 mystic salvage kits. That’s over 20,000 uses.

Well it is true that you basically can neglect the costs of forge stones but only for making a proper comparison you really should take it into the calculation.

On paper mystic salvage kits are more expensive than both the silver-fed and rare salvage kit. The only reason they are less expensive in practice than the other two is because there isn’t really any use for the masses of forge stones we get other than mystic salvage kits.

Hard to tell if people actually left or not. WvW definitely took a hit but those players could have simply switched to playing any other content.

Personally, I barely play on the new maps. I play mostly Fractals or world events every now and then.

The new maps aren’t really too hard. The difficulty in addition to the reward just makes it feel tedious and grindy. I need forever to achieve anything and on top of the time I need I even have to wait for certain events to pop up before I get anywhere near the things I want(big examples for that are the meta events of the two final maps).

All in all I’m kinda disappointed in the expansion. The specializations are so much better than basic builds. Leveling Maguuma masteries takes forever compared to Tyria masteries (and then there are also a lot more of them). The new legendaries are expensive AND time-consuming (instead of only expensive like before). The new rewards feel like grind(I have to repeat the same events over and over for hours if I wanted to get some new stuff. I stopped after a few hours because I wasn’t even close to the first weapon skin after the story completion). And I paid more for this than I paid for the base game 3 1/2 years ago.

Well. I have to admit that fractals are really fun now because they are much more accessible than before. But A-Net basically sacrificed dungeons and made fractals the new thing. So that’s the other side of it.

Let’s see when we’ll get the next LS and what A-Net plans this time. Probably the warm-up for the next Elder Dragon in the next expansion.

Hmm I have to say the money of the expansion was kinda wasted for me. I’ve played through the story and made a few events but the last time I was there was like a month ago or even more.

The only thing I really use are the elite specs in pvp (only on my main in pve because that’s the one I played through the story with and had world completion anyway before HoT).

Masteries are nice but kinda useless. The next legendary I’m going to build is the back item and precursor crafting turned out as a big waste of gold AND time instead of just gold for simply buying the precursor. Maguuma masteries can’t be used in the old world. And fractal masteries are nice but neglectable.

We don’t even have news on the next living story after the expansion. All we hear is e-sports and an update to WvW to maybe resurrect it.

Raids interested me when they announced it but after I found out you basically need a standard MMO setup again I lost interest entirely. If I wanted to play something with the need of certain roles I’d go back to WoW which I quit exactly because of that need.

I’ll keep playing the game but mostly due to time-gating of the new legendary back achievements.

I wouldn’t flame anybody for the class he plays but tbh I’m happy about every game without a thief.

Thief just can’t team fight in the current meta (or at least most players can’t) making it effectively 4v5 even if he is good and contributes by capping and ganking.

The problem is you have to play different with a thief in your team and barely anybody is able to do so. I myself am not very good at this either (not in gw2). So I simply like it much better not to have to play around a thief in my team.

All in all nothing wrong with playing one though. Saw a few very awesome thiefs and warriors this season. They are rare but there.

I hate A-net for that. Why did they have to do that. I didn’t particularly like him but I don’t like that the community got what it called for. The hate for him was so unreasonable

Anyway. Best character still is Rox! And right after that Anise with Canach :P Kasmeer can be fun sometimes, too, but it’s really a double-edged sword.

I’ve been lucky enough to get in and do it, but I know that many others aren’t. I don’t know why Anet can’t just create a system to rotate players based on completion/time (for the trolls) or make a side server for it.

Either way, I agree. It is ridiculous getting in to the JP.

Or just, you know, use the overflow system they have since release of GW2. I have no idea why they don’t simply open a new overflow for that map when there are too many players. It works for every other map in the world, too.

But I definitely agree that it is ridiculous. Considering the system arenanet has at hand it simply cannot happen that a general map (so, obviously, everything except dungeons etc) is “full”. Just open up another overflow WTH…

TBH I dislike the lords but Foefire is still one of the best maps (especially now with all the AoE). It is the only map on which you actually can fight for the mid point. On every other map people will force you off-point with their traps, wells and general aoe-abilities or kill you with those. Not so much on Foefire.

And sadly mid control decides who wins most of the time no matter which map you are on.

I much more hate the Temple. Those “capture all 3 points immediately at 8:30” sucks so hard. In general it wouldn’t be a problem but majority seems to not know the timers and I lose so many games which we were leading because its 1v2 at said buff and they get it easily after killing me. the rest of their team just bunkers one on each point and the score goes from 350:200 to 350:500… Worst map ever for pub matches

Will season 3 be free?

TBH at this point I don’t even want to know if it’ll be free or not. I’d rather know if we even get another season.

At the beginning of the year I thought the expansion would only path the way to beat the new elder dragon in season 3. But with the end of the story of HoT being as it is that is no longer possible.

What will happen in S3? When will it happen? No news on new living story content for over a year (well since they announced the expansion). At this point I start thinking that there won’t be another living story.

Remove Jumping Puzzle requirements

The sole reason why the jumping puzzle requirements should be removed from achievements is due to the world being full.

If someone comes on say 2hrs a day to play but can’t get in to even do the jumping puzzle, why have it as an achievement. Same applies for the bell choir, there seems to be long stretches where one can’t enter that as well.

this is basically the only argument I accept in here.

The jumping puzzle is part of the event. The shoulders are a special item from the event. Makes sense that you’d need to participate in parts of the event to get a special item.

And please stop saying you never needed to do jumping puzzles before… There were so many patches and events which required you to jump through the world. The only difference is that the items you got there weren’t as major as the new particle shoulders from this years halloween and wintersday. Or don’t you remember festival of the four winds and bazaar of four winds, super adventure box, LS1 + 2 (especially Dry Top and its story parts). Those were only a few. You could even add fractals to this list but I didn’t because it was mere randomness which fractal you got in the past.

I agree. By now I make my 3 daily matches and then I leave pvp or go offline entirely.

I started the season with my old D/D ele because it was really fun pre-hot. Well I realized fast that this was a waste of time. You pretty much get instagibbed in a teamfight as D/D ele.

Switched to staff to get a bit of range and it was better but still lacking. A few matches after that I said to myself “kitten it” and went tempest like any sane person would.

The problem didn’t solve itself entirely though. Even with the better range and skill-set you still get interrupted by any kittening ability you get hit by. I swear there were fights in which I were unable to cast my heal because I got knocked around, dazed and stunned like crazy…

All this made me switch classes to something more over the board. I decided against DH (because I don’t like playing the lame one-trick ponies) and went for revenant (yea judge me if you want).

That was a lot better but there are still fights in which I can’t do kitten if I get unlucky. especially in a 2v1 I can be happy if I get a single heal through. And then the Rev nerf hit. Can’t say it hit very hard but it is definitely noticeable. Now you not only get interrupted all the time. You also die almost immediately by 20 stacks of all kinds of conditions everybody kittens on you in a matter of seconds in a teamfight.

I thought maybe I should try something else because I just suck as melee (always have. Don’t know why but my positioning is much better as ranged player in any game). So I finally gave in and tried my guardian in a few hotjoin matches. Noobstomp at its best. People at my MMR can’t handle a DH in the slightest.

So I’m stuck with playing the most stupid class in HoT or getting frustrated by the amount of cc and conditions and heal and invulnerability and immunity and all the other stuff every kittening elite specialization has nowadays.

I can’t believe I’m saying this (especially because I hated it as D/D ele) but I really wish we could have the turret engi meta back. That was exhausting but at least playable. In HoT matches I’m unable to move most of the time. I really wish we could go back to pre-HoT state. Just disable all the elite specs or if you don’t want to do that then please disable all the classic specs (there is not a single class that benefits from not taking its elite). At least then all people would be on the same page.

And why do posts about class balance always get neglected? It’s not convenient for them to talk about this issue because they want to prolong this kittenty state and squeeze the juice out of it for as long as they can obviously. It’s been months and not a single word from devs about class balance? wow

The whole year was really kittenty for GW2. Not much new stuff between January and November. Information on the addon was really little. Then the addon releases and it is a mess. And still all I see from Arenanet are posts on E-sports. The crap they tried to pull with the bundles in the store don’t help this situation the slightest. WvW seems to be a big problem even after the new maps (or maybe even because of the new maps). Can’t say I’m thrilled to go there again. Well like there is any reason to. The last WvW season was over a year ago.

At this point I’m not even angry anymore. I’m just really disappointed how all of this turned out. Is this what I was waiting almost a year for?

Elementalist: Celestial staff bunker is probably the best non-HoT build out there. D/D seems also viable, though slightly overshadowed by the ongoing power creep.

are you serious? SLIGHTLY overshadowed? I really loved D/D pre-hot but now it’s impossible to do anything because you have to get close and right into the range of all the kitten that is slightly too strong right now. 2 DH on the enemy team? Better don’t to onto any point where they are around. You are likely to run right into double trap placement and die instantly even though you took the defensive build.

as you said -> staff bunker all the way. the only way to even stay alive in this meta.

Even then I feel like staff bunker gains a lot by going tempest, namesly invigorating torrents/soldier rune synergy with shouts to spam condi cleanse.

but d/d is just kitten right now. gets easily beaten in duels by the fotm classes(maybe except dh) and is more likely to die in a team fight due to its low range.

It pretty much comes down to who has more DH/Reaper in their team. Seriously. I lost every game in which we had less of those two and won every game in which we had more of those than the enemy.

I kinda want the old turret engi meta back. At least those could be beaten by just ignoring the points they bunker on.

It’s so sickening. There are fights in which I’m unable to cast a single spell as soon as my earth armor stability runs out… It’s ridiculous if you think about the situation. This kitten was balanced enough for arenanet to actually start a ranked season.

A: Of course the things are more expensive now there are many new things to craft. Nothing changed it was like before the expansion , every major updates did that. For example when Ascended Crafting came out. For example Silk scraps from 8 copper to 3 silver back then , linen also … They had to do something also with leather it was too cheap , you could sell it at vendor if you had too much of it.

Actually that’s not true. They heavily nerfed the gold rewards of dungeons. And heavily means you get like 20 silver for a completed dungeon. I get almost the same amount from a champion bag which requires less effort. Especially on the new maps.

Wait, they nerfed the gold rewards down to 20 silver? Forgive me, I’m aware they had plans to nerf but I have not done dungeons since the update. That’s what it was at launch.

That kind of ticks me off that their solution to funnel people into content they enjoy was to destroy the unique experiences they themselves worked hard to create. I mean if that’s the reward for dungeons, just get rid of Explorable mode then. kitten .

Hmm I just looked up in the wiki and I was mistaken by the amount. Fast paths went down to 35s which is still a joke.

Only Arah still gives a nice amount but takes really long as everybody knows. Anything else became a big waste of time. Any of the new maps gives us more gold in the same time. I only went CoE for 2 more days after HoT release because I needed the tokens for armor.

my opinion is that it was about time they nerfed some systems giving gold, like dungeons, we didnt have enough gold sinks and gold inflation had its steady growth the last year. In dec the fractal patch may make fracs profitable, which will be ur new dungs. There is also a high demand on materials now, knowing which ones, where to get them and when to sell can give u a hefty gold boost weekly. If i sell stuff at the right time after a weeks work itll equate to about 15 to 20g per day x 7, which is only about 30 to 40 mins work daily, so it adds up quick

I partially agree. We didn’t have proper gold sinks (and the ecto gamling is a joke) but the TP prices didn’t go down the slightest bit. Hell some things even became more expensive.

And considering they gave us things like the legendary fractal back which require you to salvage ascended armor makes it even more kittenty that we don’t have a proper source of liquid income.

I mean I’ve made quite a bit gold in the past few weeks, too, but that was basically just me leveling my professions so that I’d be able to craft ascended gear. Now I’m at the point at which I need to farm a kittenload of low lvl crafting mats to be able to get my ascended gear. And then I need even more to craft armor which I could salvage for dark balls of energy for the legendary backpack(this point alone makes me think I’ll never actually be able to get it).

Before HoT I was finishing my first legendary. Dungeons really helped. I made about 5-10 gold per day(only played 1 -2hours or so) and used that to get the things I still needed (like charged lodestones etc). After HoT I HAVE to use the TP to get gold in the first place because any other resource is not effective.

No matter what I farm I still have to sell it on the trading post to get any gold. Sure, champ bags give a little bit of silver and it really adds up over time but I’m mostly done with farming those after I finished luminescent armor earlier this year. It’s just too tedious to open them all.

Event farming really is no option until Arenanet gives us an option to either sell champion bags directly or makes it less annoying to open hundred s of them at once.

I really hope the upcoming update to fractals gives us either a reliant source of gold or a much much better chance at ascended armor drops (while that is no solution to the gold problem at least it helps me getting closer to one of the few skins I really like in this game)

Well just had the joy of finding that out, too…

Really hope arenanet decides to change that because I wanted to give all the mistguard items to my revenant to save some time and actually use the items I want to get anyway instead of buying armor and placing the skin on it.

Luckily I only bought the item only for one armor piece so I can control at least the other five items but this still sucks -.-

haha that’s definitely the Super Banana Mini xD I just tested and it has to be this. Never thought there would be something more annoying and terrifying than the SAB monkeys (I swear they still haunt my dreams from when SAB was around for the first time. That sound man…).

Nothing you can do about that unless you turn off sound. Or keep away from banks with many people. The Grove is pretty tame around the bank. Usually there are just a few players unlike Lions Arch or Ratasum. Another option would be to use the work spaces as bank. There are always much less people around.

Important note: Despite what I’m writing I’ll still probably get the expansion just because(also would have from the beginning most likely). This is just how I feel about this whole thing.

tbh it still reads like a kick in the balls.

I mean it’s good that Arenanet is acknowledging that their plan wasn’t thought through properly but I really couldn’t care less about a character slot. Sure this is the price I had in mind from the beginning (40 + 10 for the slot now) but I’m already at 9 slots so there is little value in it for me. Yes all 9 of those are currently used but I was going to delete one of them because I just made the character for the story achievements anyway.

And then there comes the part about the pricing model. Makes me wonder why I should buy the expansion now. Sure I’ll miss out on some content for a few years but with a deal like that why not just buy every third expansion and save a lot. I mean most things are available without the expansion, too. I’m really just missing out on the new map.

Their intentions are noble but I still don’t see how it’s supposed to be a good thing for their loyal customers. Really a great option for newcomers but it makes me kinda worried that so many people are thinking now it is a great deal. Are people really bought that easily?

TBH this test makes no sense to me. Yes you are totally right that beta tests are for testing and not for previews. But 3 blocks of 2 hours during the week in a time barely any European player can partake? Americans aren’t off much better.

The amount of testers they will have for this event will be much lower than what they’d get during the weekend. And IMO that is really not good. They should try to get as many people for testing as possible. The less people they have the less likely it is that they’ll get usable feedback.

And no I didn’t get a beta invite and now I’m kinda glad I didn’t. I wouldn’t have time for it like this. so having beta access while not being able to attend is much more frustrating than not having access at all.

I agree it would be awful to force ANet employees to work overnight or on weekends for the beta testing. But this suggestion would be really good to avoid future disappointment.

I still don’t see how this is a proper argument. Personally I’d love to work at uncommon times on a great game for a cool company. Obviously taking off on other days for it but still. If they like their job I don’t see why they wouldn’t work at uncommon times. Too bad my skills aren’t good enough to work for such a company yet >.>

We have known since the week of the Chronomancer reveal that there would only be three specialization weeks in the first set. This is not something that we learned last Friday.

Just because YOU don’t care about WvW doesn’t mean that no one else does. The same line could be added to basically every single week:
“Meh, only boring [insert subject here]”.

The changes are big in terms of WvW, and WvW is one of the three main game modes.

I don’t think the WvW changes are unimportant or not interesting or anything like that BUT

the specilizations are THE BIG THING of HoT due to additional abilities for each class and people are waiting for information about it for months now (when was it announced? feburary? march? don’t even know it anymore).

At least give us the information about the weapons the classes will be able to use in HoT. I don’t even care about the abilities I just need to know what kind of weapon…

Well I see why Arenant was throwing some WvW news into it. They are accused of not caring about WvW for years now after all. It still annoys me to no end that after 3-4 months of waiting I still have no idea what my main characters get as new weapons though.

It just feels like they actually just started working on the whole expansion even though at the reveal they were all like “Oh we were secretly working on it since release. Just didn’t want to give people high hopes etc”. Yeah… kitten YOU. You did already. If the game is not kittening ready then don’t announce anything. I swear at this point I’m not even sure anymore if we get HoT before Christmas if not even later.

To people that see the zerker meta as a problem, literally nobody is forcing you to run it. you can use anything almost anywhere you want The only time this becomes an issue is when someone who does not want to run a dps oriented set tries to join a speedrun (that mentions zerker only in LFG.)

while I agree with your post mostly I have to disagree to this.

If someone wants to go into a dungeon and wants to find a group faster than waiting for hours he basically IS FORCED to use berserker BY THE COMMUNITY.

Yes you can get lucky sometimes and find a few people who think in a similar way to yourself in a few minutes but that’s basically not the norm.

Even if it’s not a speedrun people expect Berserker gear(same people who then die 10 times at every boss because they get hit by everything). And the latter actually is a real problem. I don’t care if speedrunners look for Berserker people. That actually makes sense and isn’t much of a problem in itself because the amount of speed runners should be much lower than the amount of total players interested in PvE.

It also made me stop caring about dungeons. I mean I basically gave in and equipped my elementalist full berserker and I also don’t really want to play in any other way but the attitude of those people itself kittenes me off enough. I’d really like to have the dungeon master achievement but at this point I’m too annoyed to wait hours because everybody leaves as soon as the group dies one or two times.

The community won’t change no matter what. Even removing Berserker items completely won’t change that anymore. If Berserker is removed then the next best thing is the only accepted gear standard.

Just remove dungeons entirely already and all this kitten has an end. And people please stop calling yourself a speedrunner only because you want to get through a dungeon fast. That’s not being a speedrunner. That’s being impatient.

Is Season 2 worth buying?

Well it depends. If you are not interested into story or skins then there is not much reason to buy it.

The only reason why I’d advise people to not buy it (yet) is that we basically get a cliffhanger at the end. Well but on the other hand that’s “fixed” if you just don’t play all episodes before the release (or shortly before that) of HoT.

The story is relatively interesting (although predictable at some points). I personally enjoyed it. I know a lot of people didn’t though.

And the achievements can be quite fun (some are tedious though. Especially if the story sequences of that step are long. You can’t skip them and they just don’t stop talking >.< after hearing the same conversation the third time it gets really annoying).

As for your third question. The story follows the group “you” gathered in living world season 1. But you get to see the pact at the end of season 2 for a while. But it’s overall more like Destiny’s Edge you met in the personal story kind of thing.

Anet itself already said that it’s okay to sell paths. It’s not an abuse of LFGs in any way shape or form. I respect people like OP and wish that I was good enough to solo dungeons.

They said it’s not against the rules but by no means they support doing it.

It’s tolerated and that’s all there is to it.

To the topic I can just say what people said before. Write a ticket to the support if you really care that much about one group of people doing that. But don’t expect to actually get help. As I mentioned before Arenanet is not supporting it. You can be happy that they let this still be a thing at all.

I am in the same boat as you. I quit playing pvp about a week ago and gone to PvE boss battles, dungeons, and the occasional WvW. It isn’t the same, but I actually enjoy playing the game again. I suggest taking a small break.

This twisted ordeal of a test season will be over soon, and I’m hoping some kind of fix will be implemented that will make pvp enjoyable. I don’t expect to win every game, but do expect good games (ones that are even and where skill matters and not just who has the most turrent engineers or is a premade).

Edit: I’ve gone through a lot of the guides and it still didn’t make a huge difference. QQ More is a good source, but reading up on strategy, while important, won’t fix the imbalance in team comps, team numbers, or being set against the whole spectrum of skill range.

done that already. that’s why I switched to sPvP. Actually I still play WvW once in a while if I need something to just relax.

basically the thing is that some people can carry their team alone and I can’t. and that’s my only problem. I need to know what they are doing different besides having much more experience.

there will always be rounds that are just not winnable(for example against good premades) but like I said. I can’t accept that I can’t even hold an even w/l ratio on my own. especially when in some games my effort to cap points is the only reason we control a point at all you wouldn’t believe me if I tell you how many times in a row that happens sometimes(games in which one team, not particular my team, fights without realizing they lost all control points).

anything that makes it possible to end a game before it’s over is a bad idea.

People might go afk already but if you give them a chance to leave the game they won’t ever try to win as soon as they are slightly behind. Proof? Just look at any game that has that functionality.

sry for hijacking this thread but I’m at a similar point.

I can’t win more than 1 of 5 games for my life…

I just want to get back to even w/l and stop playing my ele but I kittening CANT >.< every time I get lucky I remove like 3 losses and then I just lose 6 games in a row and I’m even further away from my target than before (today I started with 9 more losses. now I’m at 18 more losses :< I even fought myself back from -14 to -9 before I went on that losing rampage >.<)

I dont really want to play in a team because that will make it just harder considering the chances to play against a team are higher when you queue as a team >.> or is that really my only chance?

I really kittening hate having a negative win rate. even is just fine but I’ll never achieve that as it seems. Man I’m just an average player but I refuse to believe that I’m actually that bad that I cant even get a 0.5 win ratio

edit: also please be a bit more accurate than “L2P”. I already know that much.

edit2: might anybody know good guides for strategies on each map? everything I find with google is most likely outdated (all articles read like they were written shortly after release talking about tournaments, tickets for said tournaments etc). I have a basic idea of each map but I’m still struggling figuring out when to go for certain objectives like creatures on forest(some people go for it after getting keep, some don’t go for them at all >.> really not easy to get a good conclusion by just playing).

this kinda sucks. I was at the beginning of a winning streak for once (which I really needed to get back to even w/l…)

Now I can’t queue for ranked anymore :< I didn’t get the error though. It popped up normally for me and after a few minutes told me I didn’t accept(which in fact I did. just 8 other people didn’t).

Hope queue works again tomorrow when the beta for stronghold is over again. somehow I get the feeling that was too heavy a burden for the pvp servers >.> considering they complain just as much about not getting into the matches

Your problems with the game boil down to player mentality. No matter what changes that’s how people are going to play. Finding the easiest solution to get the most rewards

basically this. I wish a-net would try to fight that mentally but economically speaking that probably would kill the game.

People just can’t play for fun so they try to get things done as fast as possible. sadly this involves ignoring all mechanics the game has to offer.

I can’t say I agree on the WvW part (because it actually makes sense to stay close in battle. You can spread buffs better and you can help up downed people much easier). But the trains are the real pain in WvW.

Overall I can just say: Ignore the parts of the game you don’t like and if you don’t like any part of the game then just leave it.

I always have to smile when i see people who “stopped playing months ago” and then daily comment on threads about that game. Seriously. It’s better if you just leave a game you don’t like for certain reasons. Sadly trying to change the game won’t have any success. Save yourself the time and look for a better alternative.

I see the reasoning and Arenanet probably should do something about it but the aoe-resistance of other games won’t be a good solution. At least not for PvP.

Mesmers and Engineers(maybe even necromancers) would be even stronger than they are now. Arenanet had to nerf those two classes in the same moment and that probably would break them. Because with that aoe-resistance they had to do significantly less dmg with minions.

The dmg had to be the same as now just over a longer period (because it takes longer to kill dmg source). Probably not so much of a problem for engineers because they just switch from turret build to the next effective one. Mesmers though would be a little kittened considering they are pretty much based on illusions and clones.

Just make the minions move out(like right next to the border of the ability) of obvious AoE effects like barrage, meteor shower, lava font, stuff like that. Probably would help a lot already.

To be honest I wish they would have been more secretive. The amount of information they gave let too much space for speculations. Speculations always lead to flame wars.

Well in a way that means they are too secretive too. They either shouldn’t have said anything after “we are giving you an expansion” or should have given more information about the features than what we got now.

Well all I know is they can’t wait too long. The expansion continues the story of Living World S2. If they wait a whole year to release nobody will know about that anymore.

Considering the breaks we had in S2 my first guess was around May/June but somehow that feels really early. I’m not sure if they progressed that far in the development.

just to clarify. not the actual map is a big feature but the possibility to rank your guild with this map. if that fits the description of “huge feature” better has everybody to decide for himself.

They also never said it was just one map. They said it was one new mode. It’s entirely possible we will have multiple maps for Stronghold.

well that’s possible. I didn’t listen too closely at the spvp part(apparently still more attentive than others…) because I’m more interested in the other stuff.

I just wish A-net would clarify how they meant what they said. This state of information we are at now will only lead to people hating at each other. And to think it’ll be like that at least until PAX is annoying. I swear there’ll be hate wars until arenanet finally clarifies that kitten.

There’ll be whining after that, too, but then at least it’s not because of a lack of information. And probably much less of it than before, too.

But you are entirely right. Being able to choose between specializing and not specializing are NOT two choices for specialization.

Sure. “two maps” are still “maps” but that would be a really sad joke. So I’m really expecting more than that. 3-4 at least if you ask me. I guess it’ll be like Kryta, Ascalon, Ruins of Orr, etc. Might actually be like 5-6 maps but I don’t want to get my hopes too high up so I’ll stay with 3-4 for now.

I’d go stronger, and say they want ‘challenging content’ with unique prestige rewards that specifically matches their skillset, which generally means learnable content and gear checks (We’re all MMO players here after all, and that’s been the model).

If there’s prestige items rewarded by playstyles people don’t like we get into the ‘you said I could play the way I wanted!!!’ line.

well I was thinking about specifying a bit more. Yes you are right. They want people to see what they achieved by unique looks which are only obtainable in one challenging way.

And I wouldn’t even have a problem with that. I like those kind of things, too(Liadri was really awesome and I love the fact that her mini is not something everybody has. I basically have it behind me 100% of the time). But no matter how I look at it => it’s still about showing others how good you are(I mean I’d use mini Liadri even if it was sent to me by mail for free because it looks awesome but I still like the idea that people can see I managed to do something many people weren’t able to).

That’s not necessarily the same as bragging but exaggerating gets the point across much better.

I really love this kind of “discussion”.

People claiming they want a challenge and this would make the game so much better that nobody would leave the game anymore. Don’t get me wrong guys. I want a challenge, too. Was really glad when they made something like Liadri and didn’t nerf the kitten out of it.

But your assumption that the playerbase wouldn’t decrease if you just make the content more challenging is just wrong. People don’t want challenges. They want rewards.

And here comes the problem. I read a few comments and you guys suggested getting different skins and stuff like that instead of the usual “better-stats”-stuff. That’s not going to work the way you think it is. I can remember very well how many people cried in the forums because they were unable to beat Liadri and thus had no chance to get the linked mini.

That will be the same with skins or anything else. You had to make the reward big enough to make it worth the time(otherwise a big part would just say they can get the same rewards more easily). But then another big group would complain that it is impossible for them to get that reward because the content is too challenging. Now guess which group most likely contains the bigger part of the GW2 playerbase.

We already have challenging content like the “new” TA path and Fractals(how many of the people who want more challenging stuff have “cleared” fractals? probably not so many). Even a few world bosses got changed and aren’t a farm fest anymore. And sadly those things are the best example for what I wrote above. It’s easier to just run different dungeon-paths and get your skins this way. Thus nobody visits the challenging content.

And for now I’m totally ignoring the fact that people might feel forced to do harder content if the rewards are better.

I’ve seen this in enough games by now. People don’t want challenge. People want bragging rights. How do you get bragging rights? By making “more challenging and rewarding content”. And please don’t all feel attacked by this now. I’m sure a few inhere actually want new challenging content because they already cleared to currently available challenging content I named before. Doesn’t change what I said above though. People who can ask for this legitimately are a minority(even though I’m talking high and mighty not even I can ask for more challenging content right now because I haven’t finished the currently available one – well at least fractals not).

Anyway im giving up on this game because Anet really has pushed me and many other parts of the community away for only one part of the game. Interviews gave this away and if you all want to be honest with yourself, then you should do the same.

Now please tell me how are you in any kind of position to say what other people are supposed to like?

YOU don’t like the game anymore. That’s fine. As you said you should just leave the game. It has no monthly fee so it isn’t even hard to return every year to look if anything changed.

But you are in no way in the position to say that we(the other players) don’t like the game anymore and just play for whatever reason.

I myself for example enjoy WvW, Dungeons, Fractals, farming, PvE in general and I like the new story elements every few weeks (not as much as WvW and general PvE but enough to go with it). This game is exactly the right thing for me.

People please stop making assumptions what other people like based on your own desires. It will never work out. It will make people angry and it is a total waste of time for every reader of such topics because the only thing it achieves is starting a kittenstorm
