Necros have some pretty weak team synergy. They are still quite strong standalone or in low manning. Have had some fun play with Necro guildies.

It’s just pretty sad that the guild you’re advertising in your signature specifically says in their post that they don’t use Necroes

Must be discouraging to main a Necro/Ranger in PvE with stuff like this everywhere

The recruitment refers to the meta. Once someone is a member and a part of our community there isn’t any restriction on their classes.

If you read the recruitment you will also notice that we don’t allow people to trial on Warriors. New members need to demonstrate a few benchmarks for skill and synergy but there are no limitations for members.

Like I said, Necros have some nice use standalone or lowman but we don’t generally use them in groups. Not really forcing anyone out of playing one. Sometimes people will bring them but most of the time they don’t. We are pretty like minded players though and don’t like using something just to PHIW.

Hmm interesting. Never heard of the running in a group thing. EVERY pug I’ve done on Mai Trin, we all just ran around the room, dodging red circles like chickens with our heads cut off. It’s never really been an issue before. I wouldn’t want to do a coordinated run in that manner though, seems like too much trouble and drama when you can easily dodge and avoid red circles without too much effort or thought.

Group running takes more coordination. Next time you’re PuGing though, tell them to stop moving. Have each pick a corner and move very minimally and only to avoid circles. You would be surprised how much easier it is than just yoloswagmode.

Nope, don’t put words in my mouth.

Also I never said I’m against stacking. I use it a lot in my dungeon runs, because it works really well. But I also cannot deny it made dungeons incredibely easy, in stacks you are pretty much invincible and most bosses can’t counter it. But you can’t blame people for doing it regardless, it’s easy money.

Invincible? You should take the time at some point to thank the people carrying you. Either that or you’re decked out in top tier PHIW Cleric Facetank Mode.

I’ve been hoping for something like this for a while to be honest. I’ve wanted a HM/Gambit system for dungeons or some elite dungeons with exactly what the OP describes.

If anything to add some variety to how we do things. The irony is that the meta crowd will experiment and find new roles for new classes to deal with debuffs while the PHIW will just shift to complaining about whatever the meta for X debuff will be.

Even if it is 2 Engis, 1 Necro, and a Ranger….

It really is a cool concept though. If Anet looks at some of their GW1 dungeons, I think they will find a great deal of inspiration for this game. There was some really great stuff there.

Thank you. Yes I am a little POed at the meta crap and have something against anyone who wants to leech fun out of a game for speed clears but my main point is Elite Dungeons that provide a challenge and does not allow stacking or have an appalling amount of glitches would make me happy. I want something that is both hard to get through and rewards us for it. Fractals are not fun. They are so repetitive and easy that I no longer go there. I miss vanquishing. Maybe HM Dungeons with Vanquishing bonuses for killing everything in the area. That would be awesome

I’d wager that no dungeon subforum regulars are still excited about running dungeons or fractals. I log on to play/talk with with my guildmates. The dungeon/fractal is the backdrop. We know them so well that we play whatever classes we want without a thought to the tactic…and are still pushing times that would make PuGs kitten bricks. I would bet all my Gold that this is true for most of the other Meta guilds in this forum.

The OP has a good suggestion that many people here could get on board with except he spins it with this bitterness about class QQ. Are you really such a great player? Get into a good guild then. No one will care if you play your Necro with the right skilled group. If you’re trying to play with PuGs, you’ll probably be kicked for PuG reasons. PuGs can’t take chances on team comp. They barely understand how the game works….of course they don’t know how to switch up their team comp.

Yes, I agree. There should be VQ options for people and a different set of rewards. Perhaps Champs in VQ could drop Dragonite Ore or something. I’ve long wanted additional modes added into dungeons or paths to further the storylines in the dungeons…Don’t hold your breath though. I think Anet doesn’t care for them anymore.

Wtf.. you’re right, ima ditch that zerk gear, get some thoughness to hold aggro, rotate through my blocks and expect everyone else to dps as fast as dnt does. Sounds so easy why didnt i think of that earlier.

Aegis spam just to survive in melee =/= skilled guardian.

Or maybe you’re not an experienced enough player for a Berserker’s set with such a weak team? If you know the tells, you can melee him without having to rely on your Aegis. If you’re hoping your team can DPS AD down before you die spamming Aegis and randomly dodging, then it’s you who needs work. If you’re comfortable meleeing and knowing the tells but your team is always dead, maybe you need some new people to play fractals with.

How the hell would anyone be able to forsee what hit would kill you when the sole reason you’re downed is because you didnt see it coming?
Lets say you dodge all AD animations cuz you’re cool like that.

My point was that you guys are dying because you don’t know the tells. If your guys go down that often it’s time to find yourself a new group for fractals until they can actually learn the encounters.

The easiest method I’ve learned is to…. NOT STAND IN THE RED CIRCLES.

The only thing that bugs me is that I argued in the group that the cannon strikes were random. It seems the consensus is that they aren’t. I suppose I would now qualify that, even if they’re not random, you can treat them as though they are i.e. just move to wherever there aren’t red circles and you’ll be fine. Sure, the first few times you do it, you’ll probably go down, but after a while it’s really pretty easy. I’d take Mai Trin over the Jade Monster any day.

Well, they’re not random, they’re targeted at group members. You could also stealth 4 people and have the 5th person run laps but they would end up with all the barrages. There are a few ways to do the cannon phases (as others have already described).

The thing with PuGs is, they’re idiots. Most of them have seen a video or two of a dungeon or fractal or PvP, etc… and they lack the skill to think critically about what they’ve seen. Instead they copy/paste that strategy and are unable to deviate from it. That’s half the reason you see so many idiotic stacking spots and strategies. The other half is laziness and unwillingness to try new things.

I prefer the spread out method. It’s more chilled imo. Yes, Mai is a better fractal to get at 50 than the maw imo. Maw is pretty gated and lengthy and just a lot more boring.

I want to see you get by with dodges if Moosi or AD have singled you out and are hellbent on getting you to eat dirt.
Aside from that, maha meant it is better to use the Aegis to block the blow that downed you or your teammate instead of using it to protect the revival. Just FYI.

I just dont see the logic of this. Boss 1 hits every 5 seconds, you got 2 aegis on ~1 minute cooldown. Block the blow that downed you wtf is this ? How the hell would anyone be able to forsee what hit would kill you when the sole reason you’re downed is because you didnt see it coming?

But 10 seconds later team mate messes up again and he’s down. Now what? You got no aegis cuz you used it to anticipate someone with no dodge and now when you know for sure DA is gonna hit everybody bulking up to res you’re left with no aegis

shrug Eye of the North had some pretty fun dungeons. I wouldn’t mind seeing some of them back. Not really to the point of the difficulty, but more to the new scenery.

I do agree though. I have advocated for HM or some “gambit mode” for dungeons for a while. Hopefully we see something like this.

How making it scaleable to lesser amount of players would make it easy mode? The less people participate in an event, the more responsibility one has. Changing the amount of kegs/harpoons to be scaleable shouldn’t be an issue as well. Heck, with less people those events would be actually harder because you’d still need (or rather prefer to have) people blocking eggs and husks.

What is harder, world event in 5 people or in 50? Let’s also not forget that the vast majority of enemy attacks have a cap of 5 targets and it’s much easier to res fellow players with bigger zergs.

If you lower the bar that much, that means pretty much anyone could go out and do these events. That’s not what Anet had in mind when they did Teq, and then the Great Wurm. They wanted an event that:

1) Catered to the 1% Hard core seeking crowds
2) Requires mass coordination and organization
3) Requires understanding of multiple mechanics in order to succeed

Plus, we all know what happens when you have wonky scaling issues. Bugs and glitches could have a World Boss scaled down for 5 people, with 150 people DPSing him. I would say allow scaling within a 80 to 90% range, and you’re able to prevent a boss from becoming too weak. So if a map can hold a max of 150 players, the lowest scaling would be 120 players. I take back my willingness to lower it to 100 or so players. That’s a bit too low, after thinking about it. And if you and your friends can’t pull those numbers, feel free to join in on one of our maps. Our only request is that you listen to the Commanders.

Let’s not confuse Teq or the Wurm with “hardcore” content. There is nothing “hardcore” about it. The difficulties lie in organizing within a megaserver and initially understanding the mechanics.

When you really break it down, everything in GW2 PvE comes down to mechanics though. Anyone CAN go out and do these events…and they do. There is nothing difficult about them on an individual level.

While I’ve had my fun killing Teq or Wurm from time to time, the setup is just brutal. I’m not against the adding of more large scale content, although I’m perhaps not the biggest fan. However don’t make the mistake of calling this “hardcore”.

The only reason only “1-2%” of players complete these events is not because of their difficulty or “hardcore-ness”. It’s because most of them are not all able to rush an OF and take it over by taxing all their people into it. Most of the people in these Teq/Wurm killing groups are not geared any better or more skilled than the average joe that’s just roaming the zone.

Dungeon NPCs with bugs/bad behavior

The NPCs lack consistency. There is no 100% rule to their actions and it causes frustration.

NPCs can either melt instantly from damage….or they can agro a boss and tank it for 250 years.

NPCs can die and rez on the team as they go….or they can stay dead at a critical gated portion and require re-running or a buggy rez.

NPCs are 100% useless in any combat situation….yet somehow feel the need to attack and aggro enemies for no reason (looking at you Varra -__-)

Making them behave a certain way everytime would be a start to fixing the NPC frustration. Otherwise we are always left guessing.

Of course there is inflation. Time has passed since the launch. There is always inflation. If you’re looking at players with over 10k gold as your standard, you’re looking in the wrong places. They’re not making money from dungeons.

Removing the income from dungeons is about the dumbest thing you could do. That is the equivalent of taking away jobs. Remove the dungeon rewards and you destroy the middle class of GW2. The market doesn’t care who owns the money or mats. As long as that money continues to grow and holdings in the BLTP grow, the market will continue to inflate.

Essentially by removing dungeon rewards you will destroy the middle class of GW2, cripple the people that actually feed a healthy economy, and yet do very little to stop inflation since the majority of accruing wealth in the game is in the hands of TP flippers.

The same as it has been (as of last night at reset). Chances are you were never the one leading the run or running a Guardian so you had no idea that reflects were needed.

There are actually a lot of folks who don’t really know the encounters but will just stand in the stack to burn bosses. Anyways, like others have said as well, WoR + Conjures = GG Golems. You can pull them to the middle of the room or to one of a few different corners. It’s your call. Good luck.

I think most MMO gamers understand GW2 is pretty much a clusterkitten of spamming skills with as little coordination as possible and still be able to get the “job” in decent timing. This game is a boring DPS race no matter what, with a meta it’s just a boring fast DPS race. I don’t think many people care about this stupid tournament that proves nothing other than I have gud muscle memory.

I agree, you should get a team together and each bag yourselves 150g and 2000 gems since gw2 pve is just faceroll ^^

Yes, because winning the tournament proves that GW2 is a boring DPS race. Having the tournament in the first place is what proves GW2 is a boring DPS race. Keep thinking you’re pro for playing the meta, maybe some day it’ll be true.

It depends on your group. Lupi and Berserker are not really challenging fights with a full party. I think they were until they were picked apart and figured out. That’s just the progression of any game though.

There are parties that genuinely struggle on the CoF P1 boss. No joke. Not saying he’s the toughest boss in the game, but he can put people down. It’s just that good parties know all of his tells by now and how to counter everything he does. So, yeah, he’s lolmode.

Super elite dungeons?

With the current mechanism in play DEEPS!! with a smattering of ice bow, it would only mean stacking and spanking 15 times (on the designated spot) instead of 5. What they need to do is re-address the whole philosophy of dungeon design making those that visit there encounter a unique experience every time.

Until they do that, your super elite dungeons will be, sadly, just longer versions of what we currently have, requiring more players, but still the same old kitten.

Man…you want a unique experience every single time? Go out and live your life. That’s the only way you’re gonna get that. I promise you. A game can only provide so much.

Yes the AI in this game needs a rework. It’s dumb and loves to be killed and trivialized. It isn’t impossible for them to design some ‘Elite’ dungeons like Urgoz, FoW, Deep, etc.. with some better AI. I would like this and I know others would as well.

@Xae, well, they’re in a tough spot. It has been explained over and over, but I will cover it quickly again.

Stacking in corners to LOS is often done when it isn’t needed. The main offenders are PuGs but the idea comes from watching successful speed clears and trying to imitate. It isn’t that you’re immune when stacked in a corner, like some players may think.

It’s that players now know enough to bring a certain team comp to trivialize most content. Even a mediocre party knows to spam blinds and reflects on mobs to keep them useless.

It’s a tough place for Anet to be. The only way forward is an AI buff. They keep trying to nerf the actual skills, which is a huge mistake. The problem is the enemies that willfully stay in black powder or that willfully keep using projectiles on WoR. Making reflects not work on random enemies isn’t the answer. Making enemies with perma-stability isn’t the answer.

I believe his intention is that he wishes to go toe to toe with content kinda like how there’s a lot of people in say Dark Souls and Dark Souls 2 that pride themselves on doing boss kills solo, level 1 playthroughs, without circle strafe abuse or glitching out AI, or gamers that pride themselves on pure skill Dante Must Die Difficulty in the older Devil May Cry games, or something more relevant would be beating The Witcher or The Witcher 2 on dark difficulty or hardcore without Alchemy.

Power Gamers.

If he’s trying to pride himself on his skill, he should start solo-ing dungeons. There isn’t any skilled pride in 5 man clears at this point in time. Unless he is planning on setting a new speed record with some new/original tactics, I think the OP is talking out his kitten here.

There are countless threads about not stacking and not LOSing. It’s simple. Don’t do them if you don’t want to. Keep in mind that not everyone will agree with you. Also keep in mind that you will be a poor team player by intentionally not stacking.

If your argument is that LOS/Stack is ez-mode, you’re right (to an extent). With a good team, it really is ez-mode. So perhaps it is time for you to start solo-ing instead. My guess here is that the OP isn’t ready for that either though. Perhaps i’m wrong but it just sounds like another gripe by yet another person who wants to pew-pew instead of contribute to the team.

I was once in a pug party whose tactic for the Elemental in the Snowblind fractal was to rush in the middle, burst it down 25%, wipe to all the spawned Ice Elementals, respawn and go back, burst 25% again, wipe, respawn etc. Some people are just insane.

Back in the days of Halo, that’s how we cleared Legendary campaign.

Yes thats essentially what im saying. Just do a google search: gw2 (insert whatever) build youll find various results with various trait allocations, but fall under beserker build, (or cleric, soldiers, etc.)

I understand that a build is more than just the gear, but it seems that labeling it according to the gear set (I.e beserker gs build) is a common naming convention. Thats all I was trying to say. It would also appear the naming convention differs according to varipus groups as well.

A common convention among people who don’t know kitten about builds. The same people that flood these forums about nerfing berserkers and removing dodges and adding RNG/unavoidable damage.

The same people who don’t know kitten about how the game works and don’t give a kitten enough to learn.

Berserker’s is a gear set. That. Is. It. If someone was running 0/0/6/6/2 but wearing a Berserker’s set, they are not using a “#zerkexploitbuild”.

Traits + Skills + Gear = Build

If you’re running 0/0/6/6/2 in Zerk, you’ll get kicked just as fast as a bearbow in cleric’s if someone notices. Least that’s the case with most classes. Asside from some select utility niches it’s pretty much 6/6/0/0/2 or go home.

You don’t know why they were kicked. Chances are that guild had a much higher expectation of skill and coordination in mind for the fractal and they kicked those two jokers to make room for their guildies who could give them the level of play they wanted.

Yeah, it really isn’t equal though. Not even close to as likely. I think I’ve gotten maybe 3 useful rings out of banks tabs on banks tabs full.

There are a few rings that seem to drop more frequently than others.

No idea. I’m at 240% and I don’t get kitten.

You really have to think what the original value is. If you have a 50% chance at X drop, 70% or 240% increase to that is great.

If your original chance is .001%, then 70% and 240% increase are pretty much the same thing.

Other characters you have? – they don’t drop enough to make a huge difference.

What are you on about? Just in the last month I’ve sold off another two bank tabs of them. Most end up being Band of The Brotherhood, Ralena/Vassar’s Band, and Khilbron’s Phylactery.

I have all the gear I need for my other characters and I have no need for bad drops like those rings. For all the countless rings I’ve gotten, I’ve had to trade relics for the stats that I actually wanted. It seems the drop rate is skewed in favor of trash stat rings.

Either way, I don’t have a problem selling them but I’d like some sort of trade in or higher price per ring.

or maybe if CC-ing bosses is chance based, much like how currently blinding a boss gives it a 10% chance to miss

Oh yeah absolutely! More RNG in the game! Maybe make it so that when you try to move your character you have a 50% chance to move and a 50% chance to delete your character!

I don’t mind some of the Story Modes. Some are actually tougher than the regular paths and are not as well known. Arah is a disaster though. More false endings than LoTR and the worst boss I’ve ever fought.

If you cut out all the airship bullkitten, it isn’t bad though. The Mouth of Zhaitan is a decent fight with some mechanics behind it. The ground portions with their bosses are not bad either. It’s that kitten airship with the 30 minute time gating and obnoxiously awkward turrets that drag it down.

Good job running against a wall – dnt style!

ironically dnt don’t stack eles as much as some other dungeon guilds

and you dont even need fgs to speedkill spider queen considering how she dies so fast.

Right. Quick and maybe only a second lost per boss not using it in AC except for burrows and mobility. Especially because waiting on “mightstack, FGS” gets really dry. But if using FGS, a good Control will make it literally zero risk.
