Just FYI PT was going to leave Desolation because we knew we were over stacked. I’d only tagged up 3-4 times that month because it was so boring. As Deso lost the linking we then decided to stay.
I didn’t come to the forums to complain, I came to say thanks for all the fights over the years, however I had lost faith in anet blah blah blah. The point I was making wasn’t that I was leaving because of what happened, purely because whatever happened would have minimal impact as anet control everything now. I’ve been on Deso 2-3 times during a crash and then rebuilt the server / got it back up to T1. THAT was fun, fighting outnumbered for 2 months only for Anet to then throw some cheap servers into a linking as a money grab- what’s the point in even having servers when they are unable to resolve the core issues and server identity is all but gone.
After 4 years of fighting doors to PPT or out of boredom, enough is enough, time for a gaming break

Win 7, 64 bit. WvW track chest not crashing me. Just running around crashed running over a bridge.
Crashed 6 times this morning in EB over the course of 3 hours
Had this happen a few times but not 100% on what causes it. Have had the issue on both an enemy garrison we were upgrading and on home border upgrading garrison.
The dolly gets stuck on the SE gate portal to garrison and originates from the NE camp. Even if the camp flips to an enemy the Dolly stays on the gate. All times I have noticed this happening has been when the camp is claimed and packed Dolly upgrade is in use.
Now a few people said on TS that it seemed to happen shortly after we had just captured Hills although I can’t confirm it.
Anyone else had this and got more information for a bug report?
You’re idea of servers in random tiers (deso and gandara being T1 while FSP being T4) being “too strong” per your definition assumes that their tier position is static and they are never supposed to meet any stronger servers, only equal or weaker.
Then wtf is the entire point of having matchmaking and rankings?
Glicko deviation got reset and as from reset it will be 4 international servers top ranked. Gonna be fun for first 1-2 weeks before it’s clear who dominates and everyone bandwagons to the linked server till the next relinking lol

Anyway as for the Deso link – we have low numbers but high activity, play WvW with the same people most days and I suppose it gives the illusion we are over populated. Look at the last 2 weeks, we lost some pug commanders, people got bored of PvD and abit of focus – our PPT nosedives.
Gandara seem in the same boat, smart play – no one usually hits their stuff cause it’s generally sieged and plenty of small groups around but they all converge to defend something. Yet whilst they are left around these small groups PPT and back cap faster than any other server – yet sometimes they blob it up and blow kitten up. Yet again just because PPT is high it doesn’t mean they are populated as much as a server that can only cap stuff / defend something with a tag up and someone telling them what to do.
Anet got it right, kept t1 populated enough to keep it interesting whilst keeping healthy populations in the lower tiers to keep people amused / having fun. The French servers all together is probably causing an amusing amount of drama but atleast now if you get a crap matchup you only have 1 French server to fight instead of 2 at once, will give you another random server to have fun with at the same time.
Lower tier gameplay / preferences / “game style” is slowly dying out and the the majority want multiple active maps / blobs / multiple guilds to fight so anet are slyly merging more servers together to create more population across the board with fewer tiers. Soon “blue / red / green” EOTM style WvW won’t seem bad because server identities are going to keep the game healthy.
Anyway Desos a blast, had many “enemies” spent years fighting now merged with us and had fun, games fun for now, so stop being salty guts and just play

After 8k hours in WvW I finally had enough and went to BDO, and I won’t be coming back. If they had brought these changes in before BDO then I’d probably still be living in WvW
First of all, thanks for wanting to finally change it back to friday, much, much, much better! but the times for EU….. 10 am in the morning is rediculous. it always has been around 6-8pm, and this has been perfect, most ppl r back from their work/school etc, they have had their dinner and you can all have fun together as soon as the reset hits.
If you put it at 10 am you’re not going to get enough people to have this effect and in my opinion you will ruin the events. I myself will not be pleased!!!!

A single dragon banner with plenty of space, not really a big deal. Just keep moving and/or spread out. However, in chokes or narrow corridors, they do suck. I dread the day we regularly see multiple banners at the same time… Banner Wars lol. So cheesy.
Had 5 banners on enemy Zerg the other day trying to take their SM – with them having airship I win button. Needless to say it was not fun.

I’m utterly disappointed and quite saddened by this really. I love(d) WvW and now it is a ghost of its former self. I covered most of it in my interview but …… Just speechless.

So we don’t have to play your god awful borderland maps for the next 8+ months before you then release a WvW overhaul patch that will break more than it fixes and then we all leave anyway. Do they not realise there will be no-one left playing by the time they get around to finishing this patch.
Camelot unchained can’t come any sooner, in fact any game will probably be better than this. You had something truly wonderful and amazing Anet, you took it and twisted it, trampled on it and set alight to it and now we are left with a steaming pile of kitten – and are looking at ATLEAST 6 months until there are any major changes.

I like how you cry about the rally thing cause it means your blob is gonna get zerg busted.
Hardly cry about it, just means when I’m fighting an organised guild I’ll just piratekitten them until they lose a few melee, rotations are screwed and then train them instead of going in melee range and having fun.
Everything is moving everything more towards piratekitten and catering to the hardcore groups in WvW. Yet people fail to see new players joining need to have fun and stand a chance, and these new players will be the new recruits your hardcore guilds are trying to recruit 6 months down the line.
WvW needs to be easy to get into, fairly easy to learn and compete but hard to master. That way a steady influx of players will keep the game mode active 24/7 instead of prime time. Over complicate or raise the skill bar for trying to compete and you alienate some of the population and thus people go play something more rewarding.
I couldn’t care if I fight a 1 push enemy or an enemy that wipes me over and over, as long as I always have people to play with, and against. WvW is dying and I gave my input, what have you done?
And I quite happily fight 2-4 guilds at once, never been rekt by 1 guild when running over 40, and if you knew me, I never run with under 40 nowadays. If anything these changes would make it harder for the guilds fighting my blob. I want balance for the grand scheme of things.

Well hope my interview pointed out what is wrong with WvW and where it needs to go
They stated they would rotate old maps in for a tournament / season? Can’t you just release a tournament ASAP? We get to play the old maps, you get more time to focus on whatever it is you are doing and save face for the time being.
Communication is all we want anet, a few words would go so far than just fixing little bits here and there / ignoring WvW in patches.
When PT get +5 this friday we have probably spent around 1000-1500 g outright from donations. The rest of the materials we farmed or bought by selling donated materials.
Right from the start we requested every resonating sliver and memory of battle got donated and we spent a whole weekend farming EOTM for memory of battle (back when they were 15-20s pp) to then sell and buy other materials for upgrades as we reached them. We hit our gold target / materials needed about 3 weeks ago and our guild hall has been on autopilot since then, with the majority of us off playing PS2 as WvW is dead.
Kind of a shame really we were all so hyped and put so much effort into this in the first month, for us to finally reach it and most of us aren’t playing lol.
Hehe grats, we’re getting ours this Friday. Few days late as we didn’t prioritize upgrades until a few days after we claimed guild
Played for one or two resets. One night we had to take our blob into EOTM as WvW was dead, after that most logged off. We are on Desolation and used to pull in a big Q on EB and a small Q on every other borderland, now we usually have a small Q on EB and no other Q.
Friday is still fairly active, but usually only in EB. A shadow of it pre-HoT.
1. We are a 100 member WvW guild, but now only around 20 play WvW at any given point in 24 hours.
2. Auras are there but, they are not useful unless being attacked. I’d say the only useful buff is the movement speed increase, and +5 once we get there.
3. Our guild is level 32, is claiming SM today and will have +5 on the 17.12 @ 10am. It is not realistically achievable for smaller guilds. We have spent / farmed 1000’s of gold or materials.
4. At the start of HoT we were a semi hardcore guild with mandatory raids, 100% rep rules and 40+ Members turn out for raids. The first nail in the coffin was the amount of time we had to spend in PvE to farm all the materials / gold. As time went on, we had less people turning up a night, more people leaving the guild because WvW wasn’t that interesting and they wanted to play other content.
Since then we have gone back to a community style guild, with limited rep rules and no mandatory raids, however you will find very little of my guild now in WvW as most are semi-active, playing other modes or like myself (guild leader) and some of us – playing Planetside 2 until WvW is fixed.
5. Make it reliant on member participation in any kind of events, much like the old influence system. You have to earn xxxx amount of xxxxx to upgrade. Auras for claiming could be amount of tower of keep flips etc. I wrote a massive essay on what I would like the system to be so will not re-write it all again
Overall WvW is the shadow it once was, the new maps, along with anet not listening and moving our beloved reset night was many nails in the coffin. The reason we were told the reset was moving was so they could make more changes and implement them? I can probably count on one hand the amount of times they have made adjustments on a Friday night – with all the changes and patches coming on a Tuesday. Anet haven’t got long to fix WvW before the remaining majority of its core is gone.

Nope now scouts in EB green keep have to kill npcs around the keep otherwise the waypoint is permanently contested due to an archer shooting drakes.
Fix your broken kitten before you add content that doesn’t even need adding anet. WHEN WILL YOU LISTEN!?
Because if everyone completes their content, we’d be crying for more. Atleast this way they get to fix every broke thing they released before the majority complete it and then want more content.
The thing they broke when they moved waypoints, the one thing WvWers upgrade their guild halls for so we can actually get buffs in a mode that is massively unrewarding.

Actually took the time to read the whole thread even though I considered face planting my keyboard multiple times.
Swagger your ignorance was at first amusing, but by the end it was outright frustrating. One of many things you fail to understand is, ultimately, it is anet that didn’t listen to the die hard WvWs but listened to players like yourself.
Server identity is everything in WvW, the community’s that have built up around every server, the history of matchups, people transferring and causing drama / personal or guild vendettas against them. Keeps people playing day after day, week after week. The war doesn’t matter to that many now a days, it’s all about winning the battles in that war.
I know if I log in and hit WvW and join the community TS I will have loads of people that I consider friends to go out and do whatever needs to be done. Some of us have played with the same people for years, from all different guilds with different priorities or interests yet we rally and fight as one team.
Tell me Swagger, how many PvE maps are heavily populated that are unrewarding or unprofitable? WvW was unrewarding and mostly unprofitable but we kept joining because it was our little sandbox where are actions directly influence what happens. Auto upgrading structures heavily removed what we were capable of controlling on the map.
How would you feel having to run the now near empty HoT maps without the LFG tool? Because that’s what it will be like for us, joining WvW and flipping a coin on the kind of experience we can expect to get.
Many WvW focused players are eagerly awaiting this overhaul patch, but if anet get it wrong 1 last time that will be it, the exodus will be massive and it will be the death of WvW as we know it. Because anet listen to people like you that like to dabble in everything, yet have very little experience in the grand scheme of things in this game mode and are so ignorant and determined to get your point across.
Leave WvW change suggestions to those that play it all day everyday (or did until anet broke it with HoT) if you love mega servers and the idea of EOTM then go and play EOTM or push for changes there. We have a hard enough time as it is trying to get anet to listen without your kitten!
The only thing WvW players benefit from throwing 1000’s of gold into guild hall, the ability to claim objectives and have aura buffs for everyone in the radius…..
And when you claim a keep no auras are working or showing up. I highly suggest you fix this as guilds will soon be approaching +5 after a lot of gold and time spent to get there!
We also had yaks reaching keep and not giving credit. Some people claimed that the keep it is going into needs to not have max supply in. If anyone has any luck getting full credit – as in we had 3 groups on 3 yaks on the map at once, only have got credit even though each group on each yak had some getting credit for the event.

Sorry you PvE folks have to spend 10 minutes in WvW once a week to get a few commendations. Whilst we have to spend 1000’s of gold or hundreds of hours farming PvE just to be able to claim objectives in WvW and apply some buffs to it
I think the problem is somewhere in the algorithm it gets values from other servers to define what makes a server full or not and with the massive amount of WvWers slacking atm it only takes a spike of much smaller WvW player numbers to bump up population and balance populations causing all these servers to go full.
So basically we need 1 server to start massive PvD train with 60 people all day and all night to unlock all the other servers haha. Even Deso has sod all in maps until prime time most the time. I’ve been taggin up in PvE hahaha!
What guild in their right mind starts transferring and doesn’t finish before a Tuesday where new population calculations have been making changes for quite a while? Seems SFR in another sticky situation :p
We are a WvW guild with 90 man roster and yet our guild is at around level 18, the treasury is full and the bank is overflowing with materials needed for the next upgrades.
At first I had to beg and spam what was needed but I think that was mainly down to people not understanding how to build stuff or what to upgrade.. I myself didn’t have a clue for a few days till I spent a few hours running around inspecting all buildings and the upgrades associated with it. Luckily I had members / officers in guild that were more clued up and knew what was going on so they took the lead with it.
Donations dried up for abit so we just said WvW raids cancelled until xxx in bank and funnily enough it was filled straight away. As they moved reset night we all got drunk and farmed SW on a Friday night for shovels, think we got the 350 needed within 3 hours with about 40 of us. We’ve chucked anywhere from 8k-10k gold into it so far including scribing and everything.
Some of my guys made a spreadsheet and listed everything, we now know exactly what stuff we are upgrading, in what order for the next 50 days and it has materials next to each so we can just farm what we need for the next few upgrades.
I do feel sorry for the smaller guilds or guilds with a large part time rep policy.
Completely agree with most in this thread.
Tagged up during the day and during prime time and it always ends the same. Form up on BL, run clockwise or anti clockwise around the map PvDing and popping battlemarkers.
20 minutes later you have flipped everything and seen 1-2 enemies. Load EOTM, go grind HP’s or charge into an upleveled blob. They die once and leave the map. Log off bored.
Why couldn’t Anet have introduced WvW guild upgrades via a WvW mastery or tied guild xp into a guilds actions in WvW so those playing the game mode actually play it instead of running around PvE pressing 1 on stuff to get upgrades 1-2 months later only to never need said upgrades because everyone else is in PvE grinding upgrades / playing another game.
So why couldn’t anet of introduced stuff like:
Guild levels and unlocks:
Level 1: Claim a Camp
Level 2: Claim a Tower
Level 3: Claim a keep
Level 4: +5 Supply on claimed objectives
Level 5: Turtle Banner
Level 6: Emergency WP
etc etc (not in any particular order and there are TONS of skills / upgrades that could have been added per level)
To gain Guild XP (GXP) / WvW Mastery tracks be creative and reward participation in WvW (Not EOTM!)
For example: A objective claimed by a guild rewards GXP:
A Camp claimed at the end of each tick rewards 10 GXP
A Tower claimed at the end of each tick rewards 20 GXP
A Keep claimed at the end of each tick rewards 30 GXP
An Enemy Garrison claimed at the end of each tick rewards 50 GXP
SM claimed at the end of each tick rewards 60 GXP
Bonus GXP for every active buff on the claimed objective per tick.
So Camp / Tower / Keep / Enemy Garrison / SM
Each completed tier of upgrade of objectives rewards BONUS GXP per tick:
1 / 2 / 3 / 4 / 6 GXP
Each kill in WvW by a guild member that is representing rewards 1 GXP
Each Dollyak event or defend an objective event rewards 10 GXP
Each cap of an enemy objective rewards 1/2/4/8/16 GXP
You have introduced the pop ups in the middle of the screen. You could have added a way for scouts to use this and be rewarded for it. Run to sentry, report keep under attack – pop up on screen alerting borderland. (yes it’s easily trollable etc – just ideas that would have been ten times better than what we have)
Yes Karma training would be a viable way of increasing GXP, but then again so would be holding SM and fully upgrading it.
But could you imagine – you would actually have enemy on all borderland fighting tooth and nail to hold that objective that their guild has claimed. A big blob guild of 40 people holding down SM, 3 guilds on the borders trying to hold bay / hills. And some poor sod with Garrison claimed calling for help and everyone telling him to do one because they might lose their fully upgraded objective in the mean time.
Guilds would form mini alliances, maybe have people double representing guilds to keep claims going and to assist each other during down time or off peaks (Next 2 paragraphs for this). Either way it creates diversity and makes things interesting. Got a vendetta against a guild that always slates you on the forums? Go reset their claimed / upgraded stuff every day
There are hundreds of guilds that play WvW and would like upgrades, so be creative with claiming. Up to 5 guilds can claim one objective and each guild can only choose 1 or 2 buffs to apply. If a guild has 10 “buffs” and uses 2 on garrison, these 2 buffs cannot be used on another objective in another map.
For a guild to maintain a claim on an objective xxx members of said guild must verify their claim by talking to the lord every 2 hours. 0000-0200, 0201-0400, 0401-0600. If enough members don’t talk to the lord the guild loses it’s claim and cannot re-claim until the next time slot or even 3-4 hours.
And finally the oasis event – it’s too easy for what it does. If an outnumbered server is already on the backfoot and bunkered with their OP siege and buffs, what chance do they have of holding stuff when this giant laser fries the gates. Why couldn’t the event have been a Orb event.
So the event starts and each keep (Garrison / Hills / Bay) spawns an NPC into the 3 sides of oasis. The NPCs walk at the same pace to the middle to collect an orb – first one there picks it up and proceeds to walk it back to the friendly keep or a specific location. The NPC cannot be killed but can be CC’d and if xxx amount of enemy players stand on the NPC for xxx amount of time the orb is reset and this time the NPCs walk speed is increased by double. So on and so forth, each time it is reset the NPCs speed doubles.
If Said NPCs reach the specific point with the Orb – it grants which ever server has it a WP in the keep for the next 4 hours until the event is back up. If the home border team gets it to their garrison it could spawn double the sentries on maps or double all supply into Garrison for the event time.
Either way i think WvW upgrades should have been tied to WvW participation, much like PvE and PvP. Not this bloody snoozefest PvD train we have been reduced too. Can you imagine if the PvE crowd had to spend 1000’s of gold in their guild just to unlock a glider, and wait a month with 1000’s more of gold spent just to reach ley line glider? Yeah …

Desolation usually has 100 man Q EB and anywhere from 10-50 man Q every border.
We currently have a 6 man Q to EB and no Q anywhere else.

What a complete and utter joke anet. Why do you think Saturday’s have more population? Because no-one plays on a Friday before reset unless running around k training. You have now just turned Friday night and Saturday morning into a glorified k train.
The WvW community that has stuck with you changing things for the worse regardless of our opinions will still be here stuck with this crap reset time. All your new players and the PvE crowd that flood WvW and are one the main reasons WvW turns into a k train won’t stick around longer than a month or 2 once they have what they need.
We love Friday night reset – all time zones are able to participate and you get the best competition. What about all of us that have Saturday jobs, have families or you know actually like getting in from work on a Friday, cracking open a beer and then cracking open some skulls in game. kitten right tempted to demand a refund on expansion and kitten to anything you offer may aswell go f2p instead of funding you to keep annoying the majority of us.
It’s just beyond belief how detached you guys are from the WvW scene…..
And just to add, the only reason you are doing this is to give you more time to fix bugs and glitches that YOU guys implement due to poor coding or insufficient testing beforehand. Absolutely fuming!

Hi!
We investigated and noticed there was an issue with the client that you could download on the account website. We now have fixed this issue, but you will have to re-download the executable from the account website, and replace the one you downloaded beforehand.
Please let me know if you’re getting normal speeds with the latest executable.
In WvW forums, restart it everyone getting much faster downloads.

First they break WvW, then they dumb it down, and now they take any incentive to leave sieged objectives if out numbered or being outplayed. Keep on going anet, I’m sure you can make WvW even more boring / stale so the only people that play the maps are karma trainers that fancy a change from EOTM.
How about an announcement to say you are fixing the achievements? Or fixing the long term bugs that plague WvW? Or balance classes and traits to create multiple viable metas? Or redo the PPT mechanic so it’s more fun?
Nope you just remove anything the WvW crowd had as a ‘bonus’ for actually bothering to commit to a game mode that has very little support and is near enough the same as the day it came out. I wonder how big a fuss the PvErs would throw up if the certain npcs needed for rewards suddenly went friendly and sat there chatting to you, if they had to complete 500,000 dungeons for a kittenty title, kill 1 million bosses for 10ap or had to scout a keep in silverwastes for 8 hours on the off chance a rare event spawns.
You’ve already dulled down and crucified the game mode, the GvG scene is a fraction of what it is. Don’t make it any worse and actually listen to the active WvW crowd, soon it will be a glorified karma train.
And then I’ll be shouting in the general section that new players can jump straight into WvW and compete, well I don’t like to PvE so to compete with the PvErs I want full ascended gear and accessories so I can play high level factuals without the grind or effort of getting there.
Small steps at a time, I’ve played and commanded since day 1, and I’m finally having enough of this crap. Fix the game mode, don’t kitten it up anymore!

For more then 2 weeks you are testing this theory of limiting numbers on borders.
So far we had every day a HUGE fight in EB since we are T1 server (Gandara) and let me tell you that limiting server numbers did not solve the rubber bending, skill lag and disconnects, nothing really changed it’s only annoying as hell for populated servers to get limited.Let me tell you what you’ve done ArenaNet. In WvW we have 4 maps, yes i know you know it, BUT, EB is the place where people most queue for, home border is where people mostly AFK and wait for EB queue to pop AND other two borders are mainly for closed raids of guilds.
Now what have you really done? You limited borderlands for 20% and lets say our home-border is GREEN, then blue and red is meant for raids, guilds usually start raiding at evenings around 20:00, what this means for a guild, we have to queue 20 min before raid to a border just to get 15 people guild into same border without being let out, and pray for not getting disconnect, IF we do, we are out in queue for 90 minutes.. which can mean end for your raid for this evening.. On the other hand, if there is attack on home-borderland there is NO WAY to save it, because there is normally 15-30 people AFK @main way-point. They don’t respond on HELP calls in map/team chat, and people that want to help, are stuck in queue, so we are left like with 20 people vs double our numbers..
The worst part of this limitation? Guilds that raid on same border, at the same time, did start to whisper other guilds, to stop raiding, call names, and insult people because they couldn’t get people in the same border. Things went so far, that guilds are insulting each other instead of helping the server. They leave each other to die when there is outnumbered fight, and they could fight together to make it even, but in return they let them fail alone, and they just retreat like nothing happened.TL;DR, ArenaNet fixed nothing on T1 servers, they caused only to:
- AFK people on home-border
- people in home border cannot defend because there is normally around 20 people afk, and do not respond on help calls, and other people cannot queue in because of those afk ppl.
- people that raid on same border at the same time, they start insulting other guilds that try to raid there
- skill lag, rubber-bending and disconnects did not leave even where there is no huge fights
- ping to google from EU to NA is 35ms, ping to EU server is normally 100, and it’s EU server.. but from 19-0:00 there is always rubber-bends and ping up to 600-1000ms for entire server.
You fixed null, nothing, zero.. So please reverse changes, imagine PvE limitation on 50 people Teq, people would be sick of it a lot sooner then 14 days… People would tear you apart if this would happen in PvE and you know it.. so sincerely reverse the fix and start working on fix harder. People who play GW2 only for WvW like me, don’t deserve this kind of punishment. Thank you for reading.

So whats going on Anet? Typical “we tried to fix it, now it’s still as bad but you have less people to play with!”
Just revert back the map caps until you have a clue how to resolve it, need 80 people on tag for 24 hour paintrain! lol
+1. Enough with the “testing” put it back to normal. The main problem now is people joining WvW early and going AFK so they don’t get stuck in Q’s later – which just leads to less people in WvW. Anet caused this problem, now put it back!
