After trying it again today, I decided to try a tactic that is (sadly) often needed with boring achievements such as this, which included me just standing at door, not attacking the boss, just waiting until the stacks from “ghosts” raise to 25. When that happens, the stacks won’t increase and the “ghost” hands give huge alacrity boon instead and reducing boss damage back to normal, meaning that your pet can survive the attacks for long enough to swap pets and keep the cycle going as long as you want.
It took around 15-20 mins overall of me just standing at the doorway, using 1 auto-attack every now and then and just switching pet whenever needed to deal the damage. Hopefully that’ll help. I wasn’t using condi build or weapons.
I rarely complain on the forums about boss fights and such but I have to say that for a ranger/druid the fearless achievement is impossible to do. I’d love for a game developer to show us rangers how to do the fight. I’m not using any dmg abilities until the break bar is gone so the boss won’t get any damage resistance boons on him, yet the best I manage is 50%.
If any ranger/druid has any advice here, feel free to share. If this achievement is only for warriors or something, I think you’ve done something wrong ArenaNet.

Same thing happening to me.
I have had this problem a few times. I found few solutions:
1. Repair your gear if it’s damaged and try again
2. Don’t have an outfit on
3. Watch the cutscene all the way through, do not skip it
4. Wait that there are no other player trying to get in at the same time
Hopefully those will help.
Happens to me all the time, however it seems it requires a lot of people to make the effect disappear or maybe (most likely) some spells that trigger some sort of effect on my character make the nightfury effect disappear.
I also found out that it doesn’t matter if I’m in combat or not to make it disappear – it’s just the amount of people around me. Hopefully more people will report their findings and make the buggy part of code easier to identify.
After spending thousands of gold on crafting this thing and even leveling armorsmithing to get this, it would be great that the item actually worked and kept the effect all the time.
Yep, just happened to me now (again) on Verdant Brink. 200% participation, around 45 mins time spent there, and then get dc’d when there’s 13 mins remaining of the night assault. Fun fun.
I was just checking earlier if anyone made a post about this, and I think the music is amazing for this expansion. I used to play without sound on but now the ingame music / sound effects are just top notch.

For some reason there is a bug now that disables your second pet when you enter pvp, so you always have to go and select the second pet from the pet panel.
I have to agree, as someone who likes to cook, it’s very entertaining to watch. I hope you can keep doing it every now and then, and hopefully the feedback is good. I didn’t check the Twitch chat during the Taste of Tyria part since I thought it would most likely be just people whining and complaining.
I wonder who came up with the idea of Taste of Tyria though Glad Anet is trying out new and interesting stuff.
I really prefer physical copies instead of boring digital ones. It sucks that people like me will miss the title and Beta-access just because we’d rather have physical copy instead.
I’d like clarification about physical copy pre-ordering, since the FAQ seems to be little out of date.

Same happening to me. However it only seems to happen in Silverwastes, since my main is there. My other characters are working just fine, and they are in Lion’s Arch and Frostgorge Sound. Either it’s map or character specific.
Yeah, seems like it starts the lagfest for me around this time as well. Same every sunday it seems. Just letting you know.
I’m pretty sure there are tons of players who don’t bother posting on forums about this too, so hopefully will get sorted fast. This might be that “last nail to the coffin” for some people.
Happening to me as well now. Can’t really log in and if I can, will lag way too much to do anything, and too risky to try do anything anyway since there’s high chance it will disconnect…frustrating.
As someone who has not played the original gw. I find this recent living story patch amazing. The new map I find amazing, because of the:
-nice keep upgrading/defense events
-rare(legendary) mobs around keeps every now and then
-new goal to go towards(shoulder piece),
-great music both in story instances and new map
-a lot of extra lore to be found and read
-achievements that don’t require restarting the whole story instance if you fail
-animation and the overall design of the new map and especially Glint’s lair
Overall I’m very happy with this patch. Of course there were/are some minor bugs, like not on my watch achievement and some sound dialogue bugs during story instance, but there will always be bugs.
They did listen. I was so worried that the achievements in priory would take 4-6 hours with all the cutscenes and such, but to my surprise, you can just restart the achievement fight by talking to the challenge orb near the bosses..Love it, love it.
Thank you for listening and implementing this. Really saved a lot of time and made the achievement more enjoyable because I didn’t have to worry about restarting the whole story bit just because of 1 mistake. Thank you.
I got all other story achievements quite easily. However this achievement (not under my command) seems impossible.
I tested this achievement plenty of times, and noticed that Caithe’s vigil group will engage in combat when you either check the dead body OR you proceed to the narrow pathway that leads to Caithe. I used all speed boosts + signet etc etc. and still couldn’t even make it to Caithe’s vigil group in time to save any of the vigil people there. And yes, those vigils count towards the achievement (at least the achievement will be gone from the boon list).
Am I missing something very obvious, like a sneaky pathway so you can skip Caithe altogether or what?
I’ve made it 6 times in a ROW to the last jumping bit, and not once have I made it…wtf? I very rarely complain on forums but seriously..how about not making that stupid jp be more difficult for people with higher latency..
When DO I EXACTLY JUMP? I’m getting sick of this.

I also tried to post the log of the crash, but for some reason the crashes it has there, are from year 2013…none from year 2014. No clue why that is. I will just copy and paste the next crash log when it happens.

After reading most of the posts here, an idea from an old game I used to play popped into my head.
I used to play Runescape years and years ago…in that game enemies had a chance (2%?) to drop a clue…there were easy, medium and hard clues. the hardest clue would give the best reward (ranging from somewhat decent loot to extremely expensive item(s)).
You could only carry 1 clue at a time, no matter if it’s easy, medium or hard. You can’t get another one until you either complete the clue, or you destroy it.
The idea behind the clue was simple: You get a clue from random enemy, read it, and it would tell you a hint as where the next part of the clue would be…it could be ANYWHERE in the world..it was up to you to find it (or be lazy and use some website to look it up.) After going to the next spot where the clue might be, you use spade and dig around the place and hope that you find the next clue. You’d keep doing this until eventually you would get your reward instead of another clue.
This clue system made players explore the world, use their heads, and work for their reward. It could also require some combat skill since sometimes the clue led you to wilderness (pvp zone) where other players might kill you and you’d lose your clue. This could be wvw in gw2 world.
In runescape there were a lot of different clues too, so you shouldn’t get same clue too often (I never remember getting same clue twice, although sometimes the clue led me to a same place as before, but the next clue led to a completely new place.)
Just my 2 cents.
WvW isn’t that important to me. Don’t need wvw completion or anything like that. I do hop on sometimes to help there, but being on low population wvw server, the zergs we meet are usually bigger than ours are. And when the same people keep getting beaten over and over, they’ll start to lose interest.
Just threw my 2 cents at the discussion and trying to make people understand the other side (low population) of the situation too.
WvW map completion is not a joke. The problem is for the PvE crowd is they wait do WvW map completion last, after getting all the PvE maps done first. It is really easy to get all the POIs and Vistas for the color that your server is currently, unless you are matched up against a server that constantly steamrolls your side during the hours you play.
My suggestion to the PvE crowd is to go into WvW, get all the POIs and Vistas for your color, and log out. Resets happen on Fridays, check then if your server has changed color. If not, wait another week.
Won’t happen if you are on Underworld server for example. We’ve been same colour for 3 months (?) now. It is pretty stupid that person has to change server to get his/her world completion.
PS. please arenanet, change Underworld’s wvw color already. Nobody cares if green is supposed to be the best server or whatever. Underworld just doesn’t have enough people to rise the ranks to get into blue/green corner of wvw…
Each alt gets their own birthday gift? That was news to me…that’s pretty amazing then.
For me the birthday gift was exactly the same it was the first year.
Bit disappointing but didn’t bother me too much.
EDIT: My mistake. Didn’t realize each alt character gets their own birthday gift + brain fart.

Same here. I’ve been getting disconnects today a lot more than usual. Also, the game seems to be frozen, abilities don’t work but npcs and others still keep walking around.
Same with Underworld. Fun to be against your server + Whiteside Ridge 24/7
It’s also great to be the same colour for 10 weeks in row.
I’m sick and tired of same 2 opponents as well. Also, trying to complete map when we’re ALWAYS the same fricking colour (red) is difficult. It’s also pretty boring to always be the same colour in EOTM.
Just change the colors please..10 weeks in a row…
It’s pretty great book I think…you should also check out Sea of Sorrows and Edge of Destiny if you happen to like that.

I saved around 200 tickets from last year and spent 99% of them on 4 gambits against the first tier’s first boss, hammerfell or whatever. I also got around 100 tickets by just doing events and whatnot.
In total I think I’ve gotten around 250-300 gauntlet chances. I still have around 100 in my bags since it’s pretty obvious this is bugged and they won’t give our used gauntlet chances back after the change.
Oh, and the loot from the gauntlet chances for me were the same they were for everyone: 1 single festival token.
As a player who doesn’t play pvp that much at all and have rank 40, I think it’s unfair towards players who are rank 69+…Like you said, people with rank 70 or higher have played nearly twice as much as rank 55+ player..
Maybe give these few players who are rank 70+ something extra and not just the dragon finisher?
Started happening for me too just now. I hate this problem…You always think it has gone away for good but nooo..next week it will just come back when you least expect it.
That’s been happening since this patch went live. As far as I know, it only happens if you JUMP inside the portal…I got stuck twice when I did that, so from now on I’ve only walked to the portal, which solved the issue.
Still, yes, it should be fixed.

I’ve been worried about this as well but I’ve always felt useless to complain since people just say you can guest.
While we’re on the topic; I wish arena net would change the population texts on logging screen already. I’m pretty sure that Underworld does NOT have high population anymore. Making Underworld medium sized server on the server list could also bring more people in since the gem cost would be little less (800 gems?) instead of the 1800 gems… Who would choose Underworld over Desolation anyway if the price is same? In desolation you have activity in all aspects of the game: pvp, pve and wvw.
Hopefully things will change.

I’ve said a few times in forums that difficult achievements (No more tricks, Scarlet; In tune and Six minutes to knightfall) should NOT be a part of huge zerg content. Those kinds of achievements make players rude/not caring about other people. For example both No more tricks and In tune only make people afk the last fight, annoying others.
I still think that hard achievements are great, but they should be part of solofight of some sort like in Queen’s pavillion (Liandri and 8 orb thing, both awesome achievements that was just about your own motivation/skill/time commitment).
The six minutes to knightfall is also in my opinion a bad achievement since it leads to name calling and it splits the people in the map. In all honesty I’ve been playing without map chat for these 2 days now since it’s just about which colour to do first and people start whining and complaining. Also for the hardcore achievement hunters this achievement in an overflow/smaller server is impossible.
I’m a bit upset how the finale turned out because of the bugs. Hopefully things will get sorted out.
I got both of the achievements last try. Just have to be careful about not hitting when not buffed with right colours etc. but it’s easily doable without afking the fight…Can still revive people and such..only if the rng is against you and you spawn right on top of the laser you are screwed.
Still, if there are “harder” achievements, they shouldn’t be part of zerg stuff I think..like hard achievement for Liandri was good since you were there alone..but here it’s just making the fight take longer and it frustrated a lot of people…Just put simpler achievements for zerg stuff…or better yet, no achievements at all.
After Scarlet blows herself up at the middle and walks away slowly, my character got stuck, not being able to move, open inventory, go to setup or anything..It seemed like it was in a cutscene but everyone else was able to move and loot the end chest. It’s like the game was teasing me letting me show how happy everyone else was….
Also there’s a bug that occurs if you happen to jump to the portal that beams you up after the 3 color knights. If you jump you’ll be “falling” at place unable to do anything unless you get downed or knocked down.
Anyway here’s the bug that happened me right after we killed the last boss…Fricking tease.
Posts like these are why I keep checking forums every now and then. Since it’s usually mostly negative feedback, it’s great to see a post like this.
I wish you all the best Christina. I think you also made a lot of people realize how fortunate they are, and that how we take most things for granted. And at least for me now, whenever I see Taimi in game, I’ll be thinking about that.

I’m pretty certain I killed at least 4 Aetherblades while protecting him and still didn’t get any credit towards the achievements. Same with at least other 2 who were there with me. This happened in overflow.
BTW. Why does the dolyak,children,ogre,lighthouse escorts happen every 1 minute, but Moa and Marriner only once per WHOLE event?
Happening for me and my friend too, pretty much every 15 minutes or so. Trying to do Tequatl or other events is impossible/frustrating since the 2 hour wait might end up failing because of disconnect.
It’s been doing this for around 4 days now. It’s a lot better during morning/afternoon..but gets unplayable during evening. Like right now I’m getting disconnected every 10 minutes. Fun fun….
We’re both from Finland, and both on Underworld server….It can’t just suddenly be on our ends if it worked perfectly just week ago..

Happened to a lot of people last try as well. Get kicked from the main server to an overflow where the event isn’t even happening. I’ve missed the event TWICE now today. I’m starting to get little…annoyed.

The CS Team monitors in-game reports 24/7/365. If you report offensive language — truly offensive, not just something that irritates you — the team will investigate and take the appropriate action, often within minutes of your report.
Not every report results in action, because the agent looks at the big picture and considers our policies and sometimes what a player thinks is actionable is not exactly a breach of the RoC. However, for offensive name calling, you select the character, choose “offensive chat” and the report is submitted immediately to CS.
I can’t find option for offensive chat from the list..Verbal abuse is the closest one I can find. I click the portrait/name from the chat window but I don’t get offensive chat option. Am I missing something? Not trying to report anything atm, but would be good to know how to report these kinds of situations correctly.
I just got myself Tequatl’s hoard, which means I can choose any ascended tequatl weapon. The weapon I like the most is the longbow. However, problem is that I happen to have legendary longbow Kudzu (which looks worse than tequatl’s longbow imo).
So my question is: Can I use transmutation crystal on my Kudzu, and turn tequatl’s longbow into legendary with legendary stats, meaning that I can swap the stats on my tequatl’s longbow? And will tequatl’s longbow have the legendary colour name instead of ascended colour name?
I liked these achievements as well. To be honest, a few weeks back I was thinking how the community would react if Anet decided not to put ANY achievements at all for the living story parts. You’d just do the stuff you can do and that’s it.
However, I think that the way they implemented achievements this time, works a lot better. It gives guidance what to do and doesn’t feel like a grind at all.

I’ve been wondering if there’s a guild for this boss since people made guild for Tequatl when they remade the mechanics.
Anyways, if there’s a guild that attempts to kill the boss and need a player who’s able to listen in ts/mumble, buy consumables/specific gear, retrait etc, then please give me a whisper in game. I’m pretty quiet person but will do what I’m told.
Same situation with Underworld on eu’s side really. Had 10 players I think last try. I just wanted to show the boss mechanism to my friend and barely had enough for the escort.
Nobody really cares about this event anymore on underworld since we don’t have enough people to do it, but still thought I’d let devs know.
The escort phase with Xutt is bugged right before the pirate rum part. If I’m correct, it bugged at the same spot last try.
