I was using the Molten Alliance Mining Pick on the guild mining node (I believe I got 10 strikes) and the chat window said I got a silver ingot twice but the ingots did not appear in my inventory. Anyone else experience this?

There is a fix: go to the HoM Reward Calculator and enter your GW1 character’s name there. Then the next time you log into GW2, the title and achievements should be restored. It worked for me.

EotM is NOT, repeat, NOT WvW. Similar, sure, but very different. You will NEVER have a shout out to EBG from EotM to help save your WP in Garrison, Bay, or Hills. I could go on, but true WvWers will agree with me here.

You should REALLY change the title of your post to “A PvEer’s Perspective on EotM”, as that is more accurate. That would be like me, a mostly WvW player, commenting on Auric Basin’s pro’s and con’s while I’m playing in Verdant Brink.

Nice to see I was quoted by the OP.

Shortly before Alpine came back, the DBL’s went through an “upgrade” (for lack of a better term) where some land features were replaced with less constricting terrain. This was most notable around the south west corner of the map near Fire Keep. The new more open terrain made for some great battles in that area, and the new terrain features were nice to use during a fight, weather for blocking, hiding, or climbing on to jump off. They were also used by some to set up siege to hit the south part of the Keep. This was actually a great place for siege because it was easy to defend.

I’m looking forward to the DBL coning back for the red team. I hope that some of the structures are moved closer so we have the same strategic options as we do in the ABL’s, like the northern towers being close enough to treb Garrison. I AM wondering, though, about the shrines/ruins- will the red BL be able to get bloodlust? With Anet’s track record of forgetting about this in the past with daily achievements I’ll wager it won’t be “fixed” at the introduction of DBL and we’ll have to wait for a patch befor red can get bloodlust. I REALLY hope I’m wrong though.

I tried logging out and logging back in with no success, but I believe there is a fix if you go to the HoM Reward Calculator and enter your GW1 character’s name there. Then the next time you log into GW2, the title and achievements should be restored. It worked for me.

I’m in the same boat as Nightwish. I never got the title in GW1, nor did I hack to get it in this game. I never had it in this game to my knowledge. Ofc, never having earned it, I never looked for it in my titles. But I’m now without those titles and AP’s. What gives?

Sad thing is, I logged in to buy some gems for BL keys- ain’t happnin’ now.

Remember, we’re talking SEVEN, 7, FREAKING SEVEN, servers against TWO (who have lost their largest WvW guilds and it hasn’t been reflected in the glicko or standings because it’s so messed up). Dear Anet,

I LOVE your game. Especially WvW, where I spend most of my time. Love the new teaming up of servers and the populated borderlands. However, many guilds transferred servers when this happened (at least from my server- not sure about others), skewing your population numbers that you use for match-ups. I’m on Ehmry Bay, and we lost two of our largest WvW guilds when the server pairings happened, and I truly believe that you have not counted this loss for our server when calculating match-ups. We’ve been stuck in a match-up against CD and SF where we are outnumbered 95% of the time we’re playing this wonderful game. Although we can still manage to have fun at times, I have to admit that it CAN get discouraging when we’re outnumbered so often. So I come before you in these forums to humbly request you re-check your population numbers for your next match-up. And maybe, just maybe, to manually adjust things that that horrible glicko cannot figure out on its own so we can have some fresh, relatively even, matches.

If you are a player reading this and you feel the same way, please leave a comment. If you are a player reading this and you don’t feel the same way, please explain why you feel a server should always be outnumbered in this new match-up system.

The white mantle is coming.

I was playing a bit of GW1 yesterday and wondered why we don’t have bounties on White Mantle in GW2, then immediately thought, “Duh!” Then I log in and read the patch notes, went and got the drop from a Brisbane bandit, hit Div Reach, and logged for dinner. While eating, I read the above comment, get really big eyes, and think, “Oh, yeah!”

Return the waypoints to the way they were in the Alpine borderlands. That would go a LONG way to players getting to the action for fights. I’m not going to say “bring Alpine back,” because the reasons they can’t just turn it back on were covered in the AMA. But one reason they were so superior to the Dedert BL’s is that they had nice open spaces for fights, and players could actually USE the waypoints on the map without having to capture a specific keep on an enemies borderland to use the WP.

How difficult would it be to code the WP’s to spawn on tier 3 keeps and make them uncontested for the home team until they were attacked? It couldn’t possibly be that difficult, could it? Players have been asking for this in just about every post on this section of the forum.

Excellent post, Vayne. I logged in specifically to plus one your story. You’ve echoed my sentiments, and we seem to have similar backgrounds from the pinball to GW2 road we’ve taken. I really enjoyed the lower levels of this game when it was new, doing hearts and dynamic events. Later, when I started to not enjoy where the story was going (mostly because I didn’t appreciate a few of the B-iconics, but did enjoy others), I started wandering around WvW for the enjoyment it gave me. It sure wasn’t a story, but more of a “dungeon crawl” in an open world, with great fights when enemies were around and taking towers and keeps with siege when they weren’t. Yeah, its sort of like PvP in WvW, but there’s a goal there where there isn’t in PvP.

I really like your closing paragraph. I couldn’t have said it better myself. Not a fan of raids- I might do one with some guildies or friends just to experience the story, but I sure don’t want to grind them for any specific rewards the way I grinded (ground? What’s the past tense of “grind”?) PvP for that ascended trinket.

Yes please! Eastern time zone NA player here, and even though I teach a class on Friday nights, I would still love reset night to be on Friday. I always loved coming back from the pub after class for some Friday night WvW raiding with my guild. The Saturday reset just didn’t have the same magic fun times, and Friday nights were rather dead because the matches were mostly decided by then.

Last night, searches turned up nothing-nada, zip, zilch. Turned off my PC at about 4 a.m. when AT&T decided they’d do work on my internet connection so I couldn’t get on line anyway. Turned my PC on this afternoon and first thing I get is a blue screen with the sentence, “All your files are exactly where you left them.” And by golly- they were. I still hate them for putting me through all that though. Jerks.

Hoping I can get some help here. My elderly mother uses my PC and I’m pretty sure she messed something up because Windows 10 decided it would take over my PC. Either that, or I was force upgraded. Either way, my desktop shortcuts were all gone after the install, and I cannot find the program files to even start the game. Did W10 delete my game files and all of my screenshots? Do I have to re-download the game?

Any help would be appreciated.

HoT Balance Stinks to High Heaven

Still amazes me that even after a nerf the skill is way too overpowered. When it was on the design board and no one at Anet said, “No, too OP”? No one? Who thought this would be a good idea? I’ve said this in the past and I still feel the same; the reward items from the rank up chests should be removed completely.

First, I would love better rewards in WvW as would many others. However as a few have mentioned, it could very potentially become an issue with leechers/farmers entering WvW just to gain rewards. So a low income would still be necessary in an effort to avoid having WvW become a place where farmers feel inclined to go.

Second, a lot of people, myself included, also don’t much care about rewards at all. We play simply because we enjoy WvW not because we’re interested in good loot/gold. Still, we should be able to earn a profit while doing WvW considering it is an expensive hobby to maintain. Siege, although you can now purchase it with Proof Of Heroics, is very expensive. Consumables and other items as well which all are so expensive you simply cannot maintain it with the income from WvW alone.

And lastly, back to my first point, I don’t think rank up chests should have rewards at all. You should be notified that you’ve ranked up and that should be that. OR they should only be a chest when item(s) of value at Rare or greater quality are within.

As it currently is, it’s insulting to always get such crappy loot. Don’t get me wrong, not trying to sound entitled or something. But it’s much in the same way you might reward a kid for a job well done, even if that job doesn’t require any real effort (ranking up isn’t exactly an achievement). Take rewarding a kid for doing a 5minute walk for example. Except instead of something they’d enjoy like icecream or a few dollars, you give them a dinner plate and a shoelace. Sure it’s something… But they’re just going to be upset because the items aren’t of any real value and they were told (being told in this case is the dancing rank up chest) they’d get a treat. It’s better to get nothing because what we get is just a disappointment.

So IMO, either rank ups have their rewards removed all together or they only reward items when they’re at a Rare or greater quality. As is, it’s just a downer/extra chore to open them.

So rather than receiving improved rewards, we’d get no reward at all? Did I read that right? So then we’d HAVE to PvE for cash? One question- are you insane? Don’t give them any bad ideas to drive away those of us who haven’t left the game mode. If it weren’t for the rank up chests (in which I’ve received ascended rings, armor chests and weapon chests), we’d get almost no loot at all.

The key is to implement a HoT map style reward system based on participation so players cannot leech rewards. I’d also prefer that every time you reach the next rank (bronze, silver, mithril, etc.) you receive an ascended item, whether it be armor or weapon. Or perhaps a unique armor skin, like the AP rewards, to show your WvW rank progression. But in absolutely no way should any of our existing rewards be removed in any fashion. WvW should not be a gold sink for any cash we farm to support our WvW habit.

Anet should look at the top WvW guilds from each server, and invite those guilds. Maybe even the top 2 or 3. WvW people need to have their input, and the PvE crowd (most of which don’t like PvP so they don’t WvW) should be minimized.

Great post, Fozzik. We’re of like minds in all of your thoughts and ideas.

If anyone has not yet +1’d the original post, please do. Anet devs look for posts that get a lot of +1’s. I know, because they nerfed something I discussed in my highest rated post. Get your guildies and friends to log in and +1 his post as well.

A quick fix to help a tiny, tiny bit would be to return the WP’s to the way they were on Alpine. Dumbest idea ever in the history of Anet was to only give ONE stinkin’ WP to each home team. Ok, 2 if you count Citadel, but that one can’t be taken. We need our, OUR, WP’s in Undercroft and the Air Keep (forget it’s name). Then we’d at least be able to GET to fights. Heck, if a south tower has swords, it will be capped by the time you run there.

In GW1 we had a saying about PvP that may be true here as well: In PvP, the monsters are rude and the drops are lousy.

Players do not want them to change it is what is being stated.

That was back from March, the official GW2 wiki was updated long after that.. Alpine IS going to be in rotation.

LOL! The “official” wiki is 110% player maintained, and Anet has zero to do with it. As someone mentioned before, believing otherwise is wishful thinking.

If you don’t have HoT, you can’t use it. You should have received an on-screen message about needing HoT when you tried to use it. Perhaps that’s what’s broken.

WvW: T2 NA is using T2 EU match data [Merged]

Maybe related, and not cross-map: Last night, on NA Tier 2 EBG, my maps where rendering guild mate dots as if they were “in different instances of this map”, complete with the lower resolution update frequency you would expect when that is true. Of course, it wasn’t true. They were in my instance of EBG, but approaching them until they were rendered in my client did not end that bug.

This has been standard since the introduction of the new maps. I made a post about it 2 months ago. These “bugs” make me believe even more that megaserver is coming to our beloved WvW.

I was hoping mesmers would at least get a buff to alacrity duration after the nerf. The duration was balanced around 66%. With the reduction to 33% mesmers should have gotten a duration increase to compensate.

Um… Once the scribe had built the schematic and it’s been through the processor, it’s available to slot from storage. Anyone with permissions to do so in the guild can slot it. And if public tactivator use is checked, anyone on your server can trigger it…

Not to pick on you, but too many “ifs” there. It still doesn’t help the majority of the players. Reverse those “ifs”- if the schematic hasn’t been built, if it’s not available from storage (it’s soulbound, according to the wiki), if your scribe isn’t online or on the same map or involved in a fight, if public activation didn’t get checked….

The topic of the post is still valid. Borderlands waypoints need to be changed.

This, I believe, is the second most major point of the fail of the map (the maze-like feel/verticality being the first). Enemy took SE/SW/NE/NW tower? No big deal, because it doesn’t threaten any other objective on the map. Add to that the fact that Anet decided that we don’t get the way points we used to have, and it reduces the player’s ability to rush to defend an objective.

I believe that if the Desert BL had the same strategic value objectives of Alpine and lost the mazes, giving us easier routes to objectives, and allowed us to use way points in our own objectives, no one would be asking for the return of the Alpine Borderlands. I believe it is these things that people want to have back, as many have mentioned. Anet completely missed the target on the DBL’s.

Part of the problem- again, this is my opinion- is that Anet dev’s only play on tier 1. That’s fine from an “in their free time” perspective, but as far as their JOB is concerned, they should be playing on mid and low tiers as well, to see what play is like when there is no que, and there is no blob vs blob play.

I’d really like to know what the reason was to place towers so far away from keeps that taking and holding them didn’t threaten said keeps. And why way points are denied to the home teams. What was this supposed to promote? We certainly know what it denied- but no one here seems to have found any upside to these changes.

I’m fortunate enough to be in a mid tier where we actually do have enemies on our borderland that we can fight, so I’m not losing out on any action there. But it sure would be nice to be able to move around the map without hindrance and get to the fight quickly. Changing the way point lock-out and flattening much of the terrain would go a long way to “fixing” the problems of the Desert BL’s,

There probably were when the maps were initially launched, but someone activated them and they got lost on the way to their objective….

PvE’ers complained that they had to go to WvW for map completion, so loud and so often, that Anet caved. Where’s the love for us WvW players who don’t want to PvE to unlock our elite specs with our Proof of Heroics?

And don’t give me that “play your toon to unlock it” junk. Did you do all the hearts in all the zones to level up your Revenant, or did you use Tomes of Knowledge? Same thing.

Count me in for Tengu. Largos would not work because they are aquatic. They don’t leave the water. If you like largos, do you like under water combat? From the wiki:
“The largos are an enigmatic aquatic race…” and "The largos purposefully do not interact with land-dwellers. " So let’s break even MORE lore? I’ll pass.

For those of us that want Tengu, I posted this a little over 2 weeks ago:
Really hoped it would have come with HoT. Armor issues? I don’t care about armor. All armor could be hidden and never show on my tengu, as long as I got 6-8 dye channels and some cool character models that are already in game. Outfits don’t work on tengu? Don’t care as long as I get lots of dye channels for my plumage, cool choices for my head plumage and beak and tail. C’mon people, think outside the box here- the possibilities are endless. Don’t care about story. Heck, make it an adventure bought from the gem store like the minis that came with a quest for a level 80 character. The Tengu toon slot comes with a character slot and a back story for your main or an alt to go on a mini adventure to find/rescue/assist a tengu that then becomes your character in the new slot. They only need to fill one zone on the map, add a little back story, and bam- lots of character slots generating revenue for Anet.

Hmmm…. there are no buffed stats at spawn unless Seigerazor is there. You’re immune to damage up to a certain point, but that doesn’t follow you very far from spawn. As long as a target golem wasn’t near Siegerazor, it would work.

Yes dear.

It would bring a whole new meaning to spawn camping.

But spawn camping is still a thing at times. I’ll have to see just how far out of spawn those bonuses follow.

I loved the way the book set up the game and the LA reunification scene, but yeah…

Snaff’s not dead, he was just too cheap to WP and got logged out for inactivity.

You guys know emergency waypoints work even if the regular ones don’t? Yeah they designed new WvW thinking “WvW guilds” would exist, and play the game. Well they exist in T1 anyways and it sorta works.

Emergency WP…. which is locked behind scribing, level 350, and is no where near comparable with the old system. From the wiki:
- Assembling Schematic: Emergency Waypoint will take 12 hours or 1200 Resonance.
- Once activated, spawn an incontestable waypoint at your objective, near the tactivator, which lasts for 1 minute
-This Improvement has a 3:00 installation time and a 15:00 cooldown.

It’s also soulbound, so if your guild’s scribe is online (big if) and not already there, or it’s not pre-installed, he or she faces quite a battle to get from spawn through the attackers and into the contested objective, THEN the three minute installation time. If you don’t get everyone you need into the contested objective in that one minute? Good luck with that.

There are 7 tiers below tier 1. How many of the lower tiers have used an emergency WP? A better idea would be to give us the WP’s on our HOME borderland, and if we take a keep on an enemy BL, it wouldn’t be built until the keep upgrades.

4- The barricade thing is not that is a gamebreaker but its overall a nonsense. They just hurt roamers cause zergs just melt them and keep their way. If you want them to be an advantage for the owner just make them invulnerable. However as I already said, the main problem is for roamers so just removing them could also be a good thing.
Test it and listen to the community again.

While I agree that they are annoying, you can go around the far sides of the towers to avoid them. Easier for roamers and scouts like myself. If you’re a decent sized group they can be taken down in under a minute.

Why are the new prefixes crafting-only?

Add to that the absurdly low drop rate and/or high trading post prices for the components, and, well… Guess I’ll save my in game gold for something else, because playing WvW doesn’t add a lot to my account wallet and I don’t want to go broke making another set of armor. I feel your pain, and I’ve maxed all crafting professions.

I had to log in and +1 sooo many of these posts. Great points made in the original post, especially the viewership of videos. Many good ideas presented. The failure of the GH arena is important as well. In the original GW, we had the entire guild hall, THE WHOLE THING, to war in. Now they give us an area for dueling only slightly larger than an ele’s AoE bomb.
