Shadow trap used to have no limitations on it. It wasn’t used too much until it was buffed with the might gain, and the flip over skill that would allow you to pick when you teleport.
Plenty of thieves started to use it in spvp after that not only for its superior disengage ability over other options, but the fact that the thief could leave it at home or far node and return to it at any point when they were contested.
Eventually it got nerf to where it is today because people cried about it
The shield dome blocks projectiles
The bow doesn’t attack enemies, it’s only meant to heal allies. So procung the eternal armoury wouldn’t really matter
The general consensus is that preparedness should be made base line, though 3 initiative on stolen skill use seems strong considering that we also get 3 when we steal. I don’t think Anet will gowith the latter idea.

it does seem like they added a lot of skills just for kitties and giggles. Like whens the last time anyone used personal battering ram for anything serious? For a profession that suppose to get a lot of functionality out of their skills, they do have quiet a lot of skills that don’t do a whole lot.
It would do engineers a lot of good if they just combine a few skills together, or replace other skills altogether.
I feel that the toolbelt skills are only an extension of the utility skills, and that extra functionality doesn’t make up for the way engi’s skills are arranged.
As I said this currently is not really an issue, because Anet really hasn’t made a move towards filling out the core utility skills since what? year 2? I’m sure it’ll become an issue on these forums when they do.

Engineers are in a weird spot when it comes to their utility skills. Other professions get 5 skill types, with 4 skills of each type (plus a healing and an elite)
But with the engineers, its different. They get 4 skill types of 5 each. Normally it wouldn’t be big deal, because it’s still equals out to the same amount of skills.
The only problem with this is when Anet ever decides to fill out the remaining skills for each type.
Currently each profession is missing a heal and 2 elite skills off of certain types.
(IE thieves are missing an elite signet, Mesmers are missing a healing glamour skill, and etc)
That would be 3 potential skills each other class would get.
Since engineer already have 4 healing skills for their skill types, and only need one elite (gadgets). They would be missing out on 2 potential skills.
Engineer would have to get a big shift in their utility skill to make them line up with the other professions.
Each skills type would have its skills either combine; moved somewhere; or deleted to make room for a whole new skill line.
If Anet ever feels like filling out the core specs, I feel this needs to happen.
Any thought on this?
What would have to change?
And what new skill type would you like to see?
For a sec there I thought the title was referring to that ranger :/
will say this again, the current mechanic of venom does not work when it need to be balanced around venom share. I shouldn’t have to trait into shadow arts to make it work, not even talking about being viable at this point.
I wrote this analogy couple of months ago, after the last preview update. Will admit it doesn’t make sense in places, but I think it still mostly applies the current state of venom. It’s worth a cringe worthy laugh
Don’t know about anyone else, but I’m just not a fan of the mechanics of venoms. And these little update are not really convincing me otherwise. At this point I’m not using venoms out of spite more than anything.
With this preview, seeing the change to venomous aura and having it being talk about again reminded me of when they add Skelk Venom.
One of the devs (karl i think) said on a stream back then that “Venom’s were almost there”.
I would to say they are not almost there, they have no idea where they are going, they are just as lost as the day they started.
They are being driven around in a thing called venomous aura. They wish they had their own vehicle but they can’t afford it, and it’s better than walking.
Skelk venom didn’t change anything when he joined, it has no idea either. A bit slow in the head, but at least he brought drinks and snacks.
They have Basilisk Venom driving, who is a fast driver, and that has gotten him ticketed a few times.
Last time they got pulled over his hot girlfriend Lyssa got arrested, so now he is kittened.
These updates are basically pit stop for gas, which allows them to let people know they still exist. When they ask where they are, no one really talks to them.
When someone does give them any direction, they get long lengthy instructions which they soon forget as they get back into the car.https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/professions/thief/Venom-Road-Trip/first#post4281070
All this update does is give BV some coffee

Am I the only one here that finds the whole node capture game mode boring to watch? Like I have seen a few exciting moments, but those like final style matches.
Anything before that doesn’t really catch my eye and are usually one sided anyways.
If that was the case, then;
If someone applies 3 stacks of burning with 1000 condi damage that’ll do 859/s
then i come by and do 5 stacks of burning, with 1500 condi damage = 1820/s, i would steal his stacks, doing 2.679/s with 8 stacks?
Because i’m pretty sure i would still do 1820 for 5 stacks
No, I like it.
No talk of preparedness baseline or hp pool base increase…. I’m still worried. Simple damage numbers won’t help if we can’t survive.
I seriously doubt thieves (or any other low health profession) will ever see a base HP increase.
Preparedness would be nice, but I’m not holding my breath.
OK I like teasing content and stuff as much as anyone, but it would be too cruel to just … show that off on the dev client all “Haha look what we can do in the office and you will never have it muahaha!”
I would never, ever do that, I swear.
D: that would cause a riot big enough to destroy LA…. Again
This has been an issue since day one, just slightly easier with a rev.
fixed it seems
I managed to get 39/40 targets in Shooting Gallery. I’m now ranked 469 on the leaderboard. Only 469 people have a score of 39 or better, which isn’t even the gold requirement.
I was so proud of my self when i got silver on that one
All I can say about axe 4 is be careful where you use it. You wouldn’t want to use ranger/thief sword 3 near a ledge.
Mordy’s mouth? Yeah, the path to DS is not gated through the story, just need to walk through 3 maps, find a organize meta map and go punch him in the nose,
You will need to have at least updraft for the final fight tho and to start that mastery line, I think you need to have done the first story mission of the expansion on one of your chars. (Account bound)
when I went for the wings the first time I grabbed the white ones first and couldn’t get the black ones after that, I swapped to another character and was able to get them. Can’t remember if I needed to do the story part first or not.
Yea I’ve noticed that too…plus ppl are hitting me through hammer #3 evade like hell, 5# is laggy as hell especially #2.
Something need to be done.
Hammer #3: you got three evades, in between these you hit and can be hit – if the evade was for the whole duration of the skill, i feel like it’d be too strong
Revenant has it why shouldn’t we?
Because the revenant is Roy’s new favourite toy, it’s suppose to be better.
Not able to test this atm, but have you tried a Mesmer portal?
I know it works on the other end with the fallen mask challenge
A short bow legendary wouldn’t be bad, I’d wait to see what the gen 2 bow would be tho
I think rifles would look dumb on a thief so no I wouldn’t
I want to see gw1’s deep wound make a come back with thieves,
“Here let me steal 10-15% of your health”
Inb4 it’s the only change come in the January patch
Causes the UI to reset
GG anet
waited 3 hours each for the events to spawn, just had gw2 on in the background and was watching neflix or twitch the whole time.
With salt pls
I actually like Tangled depths, lots of events, a challenging meta (made a little easier lately) probably my favourite map in hots.
150 ley line spark later
Please make it stop QQ
Mind you some of the drops I’ve been getting in those caches have been buying for those gemstones
Just venting with a question… Why you no drop more >:(
“Wash away the pain QQ”
“Coalescence of Ruin: This ability will no longer hit over the maximum number of targets (5). The cascade will additionally cease its progression if it hits the maximum number of targets.”
Can it be coded so that player characters are given priority to avoid clone and minion exploits from mesmers and necros? I don’t have a problem with this change but only player characters are deliberately targeted other than lords.
I don’t think that’s an exploit,
I’d rather my minions tank a hit then my face.
Caladborg for the next great sword , calling it now
GW2 lacks one thing before all others: Ingame voice … map typing just doesn’t cut it and oh so many people seem to be allergic to TS never mind the cost issue for a 100 people TS server
Can you honestly imagine what ingame voice would be like on european megaservers??? The pure thought of that makes me want to run away screaming . I honestly don’t think voice communication would be all that great for this kind of event anyway … anytime more than a few people can talk at the same time voice tends to be more distracting than helpful for me.
Well, if you’d have a single downmix of everyone talking – yes, horrible. But if you could select which audio to listen to and you could filter commanders and mentors … now, how about that.
Your giving Anet way to much credit here
Pls make available for mobile devices,
If we have mind domain, and maybe a soul domain, just going off of theme, would there be a body domain as well (body, mind, and soul)…who would own that ?(body, mind, and soul)
I’ll give you the charmander one.
The rest are a stretch.
You could also say, its Farfetch’d….
Well now, that was onix-pected
The answer? Bring a ranged option and swap as needed. Use melee when you can, and don’t use it when you can’t. That’s the best advice I can give.
Then a mob with reflect shows up and you murder yourself on the reflect :P
then you melee or attack with a class that doesn’t rely on projectile attacks, like nerco axe
I used charge for my ferries, made enough to pay for a vabbian armour set.
DPS is always gonna be the focus when you have 8 minutes to kill it.
DPS will still be the focus even if you had until the next patch to beat the boss, ( even then you still have another hour ;p ), a timer doesn’t change that fact IMO
when using that skill near a wall, there’s the possibility of teleporting into the wall and become stuck.
This skill is so bugged.
Nice, another counter
Because they can do just about everything else and giving them reflect would mean arenanet could remove the other 8 classes from the game maybe?
How so? There is tons of thing revenant can do/others do better. I mean can you aoe stealth like scrapper/thief? Can you heal like druid? Provide aoe stab like guardian? Hm..nope
Someone can explain it with good reason?
Sword 4, Shield 5, Staff 3, Hammer 4, Sword 3. That’s why .
Thats not really a good reason. DD has tons of evades as well with reflect on autoatk.
Auto attack reflect is not the most reliable thing every, and it’s not like thieves are played for their reflects anyways…or at all to begin with.
Evades are pretty much all they can do,
I like most of the plasma weapons, love the lightsaber feel to them, Staff should have been more of the double-bladed lightsaber type, but still pretty good looking.
Only real disappointment are the bows, they could have animated the strings at least,
Don’t yolo straight in and range some of them down first
It doesn’t really need a clock with its short CD.
Asking for a clock will just get a longer CD to justify a clock.
Having a clock is more of QoL issue than a balance one.
Would rather an off hand sword next.
I’d take the four maps I got with HoT over all the maps in EotN any day. The complexity of these maps is astounding.
Don’t get me wrong, I loved Eye of the North. But then, we haven’t seen raids yet, and Eye of the North didn’t have expansion content coming in reguilarly either. We have to see what the new content delivery cadence is. Also EotN offered nothing at all for PvP.
I think it’s okay to do a little of both. I sort of hope the next expansion/set of maps we get goes in a different direction – specifically – reduced complexity and greater quantity.
It seems to be a common mantra that quality > quantity, and that was a major design goal for GW2, but I’ve long argued that you really need a bit of both and should strive to find a middle ground.
What does quantity get you over quality? What would you pick if you had to sacrifice one or the other. Good old devil’s advocate, but what if this was the middle ground? :P
So what kind of progression would you want that doesn’t involve a level cap and gear treadmill?

What if it was an achievement to kill teq 5 times? Your mind would be blown.
To be honest, I want easy way to track all my illusions, like a small symbol on that illusion bar to tell me what I have up..
