Are the new weapon skins seriously 2 tickets?

It’s a total cash grab from an already dwindling fan base. Anet just keeps making bad calls. It’s a shame too.

If they wanted a cash grab, they’d add all sorts of things to the chests to make them more attractive to those spending RL currency.

This is the opposite of a cash grab, since it largely affects people who stockpiled tickets expecting to be able to get one skin/ticket.

Oh you mean like an advanced leather node and cloth node currently in the chests going for insane prices on the tp right now? Yeah totally not a cash grab.

Also my opinion is that presence of the keep, claim buff, emergency waypoint, stealth fountain and airship defence should be removed/nerfed considering defending team already has the respawn-/siegeadvantage because nothing is more boring than common occurance in t1 where everyone has t3 keeps except red map, cuz no1 cba to def red map and upgraded keeps with presence of the keep being impossible to win fights in..

This is ridiculous considering arrow carts are now useless for defense if the opposing zerg uses a shield generator.

Hardened siege should be removed.
Arrow cart firing speed should be reduced, and they shouldn’t apply cripple. Bleed makes sense, but the damage of a superior AC is insane. It’s like 2500+ on 50 people for 1 ac every 3s. Shield gens do not block arrows. Was this intentional?

Actually they do with shield generator mastery 5 git gud

That means several years of daily usage before you’ll get even.

Exactly which existing nodes take less than several years of usage before breaking even on costs?

all the S1 nodes that only cost laurels and 15G, they barely take a month to get even.

25 laurels and 15g translates to at least 40g of value, since laurels can purchase crafting bags that are worth between 80 to 130 silver after fees, and since laurels are a non-renewable currency (i.e. can’t be farmed).

  • Gift of Candy Corn returns 8-12 candy, call it 10, which is worth 4.6s/day before fees. It takes nearly 870 days to earn 40g.
  • Wintersday Tree returns a single Wintersday Gift. That is currently worth 8.92s in fees, 448 days to break even.
  • Gift of Quartz returns 3-10 quartz, call it 8. Each is worth 8.48s before fees, so ~68s/day. 58 days to break even.
  • Gift of Sprockets returns 6-12 sprox, worth 1.99s each pre-fees, call it 20s/day. 200 days to break even.

Regardless, the discussion has been about nodes we can buy from the trading post or from the gem shop. The question is whether the new node is conceivably worth 1200 gems and, as it turns out, its return-on-investment isn’t significantly worse than the other nodes.

The gift of quarts can return also 1-3 charged quartz a day as well if you’re lucky which you can turn into leyline tools making roi significantly less time.

And no one specificied tp nodes only they just said nodes.

Part of the problem with this node for me is i count the value of the mats my friends get as gifts given as roi for myself from the nodes so its a bit kitten this node can’t be shared. If this is true my nodes have all paid for themselves except flax, and this node will never pay for itself.

100 badges per 1 WvW ticket

in WvW

Posted by: Fremtid.3528

Fremtid.3528

10 badges for 1 ticket conversion ratio it is ok, that will save some WvW veterans for trash out the badges, and reward them with respect because WvW veterans din’t get anything substantial comparing to others, like fractal/raid pve veterans. At least, if Anet continue to support pve gear for wvw, then, completely remove the pve grid part, as the update for runes. But, i will like more WvW exclusive items, as “Mistforged Triumphant Hero’s armor” or “Warbringer” to see in the incoming updates, this will make WvW GREAT AGAIN and is a HUUUGE BIG plus for Anet, i expect many more players to play GW2. Look at the queue for borders, before legendary wvw update was barely 10+ in prime time, now we almost got 100+, this is a huge difference! this is the way!

Desolation has probably the biggest pve population in EU. And we know that many pve players are for shinies.

Desolation didn’t used to have much any queues before legendary WvWvW update. When the update hit, we got queues to all for 4 maps, but those queues died out quick. Within less than 2 weeks from the update, the situation is back to the old one.

In other words: the pve players noticed that it takes way too much grind to get anything decent out of WvWvW. This should be a clear message for the developers. The current speed of obtaining weapon and armor skins from WvWvW is set artificially way to high. The pve population in general couldn’t care less as pve rewards are still far greater than WvWvW rewards.

We can argue whether 20 badges or 10 badges per 1 ticket is the right conversion rate. And how many proofs are equivalent of badges, but we really need a conversion.

100 badges = 1 ticket is a bad joke. I know that some hardcore WvWvWers can get 500-1000 badges per week, but even that would then equal mere 5-10 tickets = close to nothing.

Not every shiny is for a pve player, you should come to grips with this right now.

This is great effort tyvm, the only thing i’d like to see added to the list in the scribing area, is the lumber cores, i got 5-6 different types permanently occupying my bank and i keep getting them. there are number of other items for scribing like flower seeds etc, but lumber cores are lot more common to get, i’d greatly appreciate it if u could add them as well and once again, tyvm for all your efforts. As others have said, sorry to hear u had to repeat all that work, that would have been very frustrating

I would like to second this. Lumber cores are strictly material components and they are stacking up. Pruning shears would be a nice inclusion, too. I would very much like to have these in material storage. I could give up nibs, though. I only make nibs as needed and don’t usually have odd spares as they are 1:1 usage. Pruning shears, OTH, you have to plan your map currency and purchase ahead of time and store in preparation for… hedge trimming.

That said, a thousand thank yous+ for the work you have done (and redone) on this!

100 gold to craft light armor

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Fremtid.3528

Fremtid.3528

As a further comment on but this is mainly meant to show that 100g worth of crafting armor doesn’t get you far anymore in GW2.

It was shortly after launch and I had my first level 80 that I wanted a set of exotic armor for. I checked the prices and it was 30 gold!! If you think back in time this was before the 2 gold dailies or the farms that give you gold or fractals with their easy gold. This was gold you had to get by farming or doing events for a couple silver each or running dungeons, or similar stuff. 30 gold back then was a lot of gold that took time and effort to get.

So, maybe 100 gold doesn’t get you very far right now but the gearing up with crafted exotics, and later ascended, has never been cheap. If you think different maybe you have nostalgia goggles on because I remember farming diligently back then to get enough gold to gear up each of my chars with level 80 gear.

Dungeons back then also gave kittentons of gold, like arah alone gave like 5g for one of the paths? ascalon the easiest one gave 1g each of the path and could be run very fast.

“100g you earn in a few days of casual play.”
That is utter kitten.

Is it? Doing dailies gives you 2g for 10-15 mins, if that much.
Doing a Silverwastes meta or one of the HoT map metas can take 1-2h and give you 30-50 champ bags. Take a conservative estimation of 15s per bag, that’s 4.5-7.5g.

Not to mention you could ride the champ trains in CS and FGS. Last night I went to FGS and spent ~1 hr there. I assure you, it doesn’t get any more casual than that. I ended up with 60+ chests and there’s also the map rewards (t6 mats, charged lodestones and giant eyes).

Not to mention you can go in Bitterfrost to harvest ~50 winterberries in ~20 mins. Every winterberry can be consumed for ~20 unbound magic, which can be converted to (conservative estimation) ~25c, meaning around ~5s per berry, ~2.5g in total.

I fully understand it is easier to complain, but it doesn’t make said complaints valid.

So for 3 1/2 hours over 3 days (which is what a few usually means) you would make approx 63 gold (I applied your math for the champ bags to the champ bags from frostgorge sound) and some t6 mats (which vary depending on week the powerful blood, charged lodestone, and giant eyes week is unusually high in profit and only once every eight weeks which is why ppl save their pact supply map rewards for 8 weeks for it) which is a far cry from 100g. So yeah I guess it’s easier to complain than be real when you yourself say a few days of casual play doesn’t even net 100g.

Well, again, that’s what I mean by having no concrete goals. If I need to stockpile X material, then I will leave whatever amount is needed minus the amount I expect to gain from just salvaging materials. That’s just simple planning.

Obviously, when one’s needs are vague and undefined, then they are going to lose out on a lot of things.

You don’t need to monitor the market. Just look at updates once in a while and see what happens during big events and holidays. Everything else is literally pennies. I mean how often do you need to swap stats on insignias? Probaly only when new stats come out or balance changes affect old ones. Not very common and even estimating 10-15 insignias, the long term swing is what? 200’ish gold at worse? Not even enough for 2 pieces of ascended gear.

Then again, I guess everyone has their own approach. I just don’t believe in trying to predict the future. TP boogiemen making extra coin is really none of my business.

i hear insignia is like 65 gold right now, so thats 650-800 gold assuming 10-15. and its not the tp boogeyman.

Uhh… no. The most expensive insignia I could find was the Trailblazer’s one which is 28 gold and that’s due to the lilies. Your average insignia does not cost that much.

If you rely on hearsay, then the problems are evident.

As for the rest, I’m just going to say it’s really not applicable at all to me.

I think when people say insignias are prices this high they mean ascended insignias which DO cost that much.

Actually we were talking about stat changing ascended armor, and that requires exotic insignias. It’s relevant to the topic because Hardened leather is a big part of it.

The bulk of ascended insignia’s cost does not come from hardened leather. It’s the elonian leather/damask, but since this topic is on hardened leather, this is very tangential.

And even for ascended insignia, the cost is closer to 50g: https://wiki.guildwars2.com/index.php?title=Special:RunQuery/Base_ingredients_query&Base_ingredients%5Bitem%5D=Zojja%27s%20Berserker%20Insignia&Base_ingredients%5Bid%5D=7889&Base_ingredients%5Bquantity%5D=1&wpRunQuery=true

https://wiki.guildwars2.com/index.php?title=Special:RunQuery/Base_ingredients_query&Base_ingredients%5Bitem%5D=Yassith%27s%20Viper%27s%20Insignia&Base_ingredients%5Bid%5D=11371&Base_ingredients%5Bquantity%5D=1&wpRunQuery=true

Trailblazer, is of course, the big exception
https://wiki.guildwars2.com/index.php?title=Special:RunQuery/Base_ingredients_query&Base_ingredients%5Bitem%5D=Pahua%27s%20Trailblazer%27s%20Insignia&Base_ingredients%5Bid%5D=10430&Base_ingredients%5Bquantity%5D=1&wpRunQuery=true

And this is assuming that you use “buy instantly”. Understandably, you have to deal with dark matter and obsidian shards though. This doesn’t mean it’s cheap by any means, mind you.

Ironically, that means the best argument against the current state of exotic crafting is that if it’s not that much cheaper than ascended, then it becomes pretty inferior as a choice, I would assume. In fact, my advice to people consists of telling people to wear cheap non-craft exotics, and whatever armor rewards they find in HoT maps, and then skip directly to ascended things, with ls3 trinkets being a priority. in b4 opinion police

I know this is hard to believe but a lot of people mistakenly believe to stat change an ascended you need an ascended insignia. I’ve seen it said here time and time before and a few times no one has corrected the person.

People have done the math Ayrilana, and there’s no way you are obtaining 40 T6 leather sections every hour through this farm.

https://www.reddit.com/r/Guildwars2/comments/63f85n/data_salvage_results_of_7700_bloodstonewarped/

800 T6 leather sections salvaged from 7700 bloodstone warped hides. This averages out to about 25 T6 leather per stack.

https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/lwd/SALVAGE-TEST-Copper-VS-Silver-SPOILER/first#post6537649

This user salvaged 2000 bloodstone warped hides and got 166 T6 leather out of them. That averages out to about 21 T6 leather sections per stack of bloodstone warped hides.

https://www.reddit.com/r/Guildwars2/comments/5t7d1u/possible_spoilers_salvage_rate_research_for/

This user salvaged 2000 bloodstone warped hides, annd received 200 T6 leather sections out of it. Averaging out to 25 T6 leather sections per stack of bloodstone warped hides.

The data is out there. You average about a 10% drop rate on T6 leather from a bloodstone warped hide. So if you are indeed obtaining 40 per hour, then you claim that you are obtaining 400 bloodstone warped hides per hour, every hour, through DR even. I certainly never obtained hides at that rate when I attempted the farm. Do I just have bad luck, or were your numbers inflated?

It’s what I’ve been getting but of course I’ve not done 7700 salvages.

Let so with 20 per hour and redo my numbers.

I’ve been averaging 20 an hour. There’s 24 hours in a day so that’s 480. Assume that there’s 10,000 players so that’s 4,800,000 hardened leather. Obviously you can’t expect players to farm for the entire 24 hours but there’s most definitely more than 10,000.

Buy listing volume is at 180K rounded up. If there’s 10,000 players farming, they’d only have to obtain 18 leather the entire day to fill all existing buy orders. If there were 5,000 players then they’d have to only obtain 36. If there’s only 2,500 then they’d only have to obtain 72 the entire day. So it is VERY much possible.

Actually, it didn’t really affect the second paragraph. So you didn’t really disprove what I said. I can go a step further with the first paragraph and assume that a player only earns 1 hard leather per hour and farmed for 24 hours. With 10,000 players doing this, that’s 240K which is more than what’s currently showing for buy order volume. You’d only need 7,500 players doing it to break even.

lol @ “only”

I don’t really think this is about players not having money for it. It’s about the discrepancy between light/heavy and medium. Why should it cost more for a medium armored character to get geared? Aren’t we all supposed to be on a level playing field.

Have you calculated the actual cost differences? Not saying they’re the same but I’ve yet to see anyone in any of these threads to do a cost comparison.

A certain type of item makes it very easy to compile this data if you look at certain sites.
http://www.gw2spidy.com/search/of%20knight%27s/2?rarity_filter=5&min_level=&max_level=
http://www.gw2spidy.com/recipe/2796
http://www.gw2spidy.com/recipe/1956
http://www.gw2spidy.com/recipe/1099

Did you notice the difference in leather consumption between medium and heavy armor is 78 vs 60 pieces of Cured Hardened Leather Squares?
I guess our armor are mostly made of patches…

Ascended price differences are nastier, Even though they don’t use t6 leather materials.

Spidy’s not a good source to use for leather tho because they haven’t updated their recipes to show that thick leather is four and hardened leather is three for each cured. Because their databases haven’t been updated in something like two years.

Guide to interacting in game and forums. :)

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Fremtid.3528

Very true. In addition, it was only a few days back when I was reading two posts of yours that I was reminded of this old thread about interacting on the forum and game.

I got the idea for this thread from several observations. The main one being my own behavior in this forum. While I am generally a very kind person, this forum as with many I have been a part of, can bring out my smart kitten side pretty quick. When I stepped back and evaluated that, I came to the conclusion that I was being overly judgmental of others that play the game.

Yes there are a lot of posts I don’t agree with or that I think are just plain ridiculous. However, in real life if I hear someone say something in public that I think is stupid I don’t get into some debate over why I think what they said was wrong. I just go about my business and often think to myself that I hope they have a better day. I don’t care for constant complaining but it really gets too much when I find myself complaining about complaints.

So reflecting on all these posts I have been involved in and, admittedly rude at times, I started thinking about the person on the other side of the screen that I can’t see. I thought about how I felt as I purchased and downloaded the game. How excited I was once the install was complete and when I first made my first character. So then I thought about this other mysterious person living in wherever and I imagined they felt the same as I at one point. I started thinking that this is a real person that wakes up everyday just like me and they want to have a good day which in many cases means enjoying the game.

The thing about the Internet, and I found this out early during the USNET years, is that since you can’t see that person you forget that they have feelings as well. It’s easy to forget that maybe they just had a bad day and an unpleasant gaming experience later in the day was kind of the final straw leading to rage posting on the boards. It’s easy to forget that when they click the login button they want to have fun also. It’s the reason for playing a game and people like to have fun.

So where am I going with this? I thought it would be a good idea to brain storm some random acts of (kindness) in game to maybe make that random person smile for a second, maybe make their day a little better.

Here are a few things I have done:

*When I see a player that is obviously new and low level running around lost, I help them for a minute. Then later on I mail them a few coins and or maybe a piece of armor they could use. I simply write “Welcome to GW2” and attach the coin/item. I imagine as a new player something like that might give them a brief smile.

*If I see a downed player in PvE I rez them and if they are not down leveled I mail them some coin with a note that says, “Thought you could use some coin to help with your repairs.”

*I shadow obvious new players and only jump in if they get in a real dicy situation then disappear and do it again for a bit.

*I’m maxed on cooking skill so when I get low level cooking mats that don’t sell for much I’ll just mail them to some random name I see in my area with a note that says,“I bet you are hungry after all your travels.”

*I haven’t done this yet but I think once a day when I see some negative posts here I’ll just send one of those people that are unhappy some small gift. Something that has been in my bank and I will never use or sell. (Disclaimer: Please don’t start posting negative threads just to have a chance at a prize. )

Anyway, these are the main things I do but I’m looking for more and hope others will share ideas and participate. The thought isn’t to give your bank away but just some small token of (kindness) that might just make someone think, “That was nice.” even if just for a minute.

tl;dr
I’ve been rather rude here at times and I apologize. I’m really a pretty decent person in real life. I think most here on both sides of arguments are as well. The idea is fun and to some degree I am guessing when everyone logs in each day the idea is to add something pleasant to their day. So let’s help random people out with that.

Please share other ways myself and others might just send our own little “token” to random players as a way of saying in game, “Hope you are having a good day.”

P.S. (kindness) due to overly aggressive language filter.

Edit: all of us should take the time when responding to remember that’s another person you’re talking to.

Mailing someone else your hard earned coin is a good way to attact “takers” into your life. Who are only going to wanna be around you to see what they can get out of you.

What really drew my notice to this was the difference between the bowstrings (aura) on Dreamer and the aura on Kudzu! Dreamer is way better by far, i really feel they did kudzu a disservice.

I’m sorry I have to step in here. Larger doesn’t always mean better. Sometimes when you have a large guild just having more people means bad people slip through the cracks because you can’t vet every new member and you can’t police everything that goes on. People say really offensive things. People steal from the guild bank. People do stuff they shouldn’t do when officers and the guild leader aren’t online, such as scam and beg in guild chat. Having max members doesn’t automatically equal = teh awsums. In fact, having such a large group sometimes creates a disconnect in which no one really cares about the guild so no one donates to new upgrades and it all ends up being the sole responsibility of the guild leader. I’m in a guild right now which was at max capacity until a few days ago when we kicked a few people at guest rank who had been offline too long. The new sab upgrade was added with the patch right? I didn’t ask for boomboxes (I’m not a leader in it btw but the leader has been busy with rl so i decided to help him out) I just asked if anyone had any extra continue coins could they donate. And I asked over quite a few days. Not a single coin was donated that I didn’t put in myself or solicit from an outside source. The boomboxes? Farmed by me and a friend who’s in my private guild and joined just to donate it. Sometimes guilds are too big to fail and sometimes they’re so big no one gives a kitten. Just coz you have crap experience with small guilds doesn’t make all small guilds crap but just coz i have bad experiences with big guilds doesn’t make all big guilds crap either. I happen to know that a guild that has a very generous and giving and thriving guild membership and a flowing guild hall so thats one good example of a good big guild. And I can think of others too. But I can also think of several small groups who make it work, who exist despite their size, who build their guild hall together out of love, companionship, and friendship, and who are you to crap on them and say “join a bigger guild, too small lol.” If you’re arguing against guilds being a glorified lfg then they should stay separated by interests, because otherwise you’ll have a large guild where no one knows anyone going Fractals 100 CM? 4/5 Ascalonian Catacombs 3/5 Anyone wanna tag up on x borderland? And nothing else. BTW the chat may be dead most of the time in my private guild but, you know what, since its all my best friends no one’s ever offended anyone and the chats are funnier than any chats in any of my other guilds ever. Because when you’re that close to people you tend to know what you can get away with and what’s crossing the line and if you do cross the line someone you’re close to is more likely to forgive you than some random in guild chat who is going to want you kicked.

I mean really the deciding factor for me in getting six accounts was mystic coin prices. I refuse to buy them and we get them too slow for me to build the legendaries i want to. So six accounts.

Oh yeah. I mean I have six accounts. My mystic coins over time is way more than someone with 1 account. If I had simply invested the money in gems for gold for mystic coins and t6 (which I get from daily/monthly laurels) I wouldn’t be nearly as ahead as I am now. You don’t even need to play the accounts to reap the benefits just log in and get the rewards. I do however play the accounts, like when theres an easy triple daily i do the daily on 4 of my 6 accounts. The other 2 i couldn’t have bothered getting the waypoints on so i don’t bother. And i got the last 3 of those accounts on sales! So it’s a steal really. Last Christmas I grinded orphans everyday on 4 of my accounts to get karma for pact supply and did that everyday for 2 months or almost everyday when i felt like it…I ended up with over 100 charged lodestones come frostgorge week i made the last spirit weapon i needed bound it and salvaged it. Ach done!

Home instance nodes placement

Yeh
Sylvari could be better too

I literally have no idea what you’re talking about the sylvari one is so bad i flat out refuse to use it ever. Like I have no clue what they were smoking when they designed the sylvari instance like some of those nodes are in the most confusing random spots and I have to visit other home instances just to make sure i get them all so i just go to the asuran one every time its maguuma x and skip the ordeal altogether.
