Shelter will not be getting a skill category. It would probably need to be adjusted in someway if we did do it – and it’s fine where it is right now.

It has more than 1 second of casting time, a unique and easy-to-tell animation, with no easy access to stability/on-demand blind (to use while casting), so interrupting it was easy.
It removed conditions, yes, but isn’t necromancers supposed to be strong against conditions?
And if you bring in transfers: It is counterproductive to use CC with transfers, as you either transfer them or heal more by consuming them.
The “fact” that they were used at the same time in builds is because.. there are too many condi-application compared to transfers? Our other healing skills are quaggans?
Neither of them makes CC OP in my eyes.
It was balanced. It was good.
Why are we not getting the same treatment as Shelter?

For a lot of wvw players/commanders, the use of -field siege is similar for the use of biological/nuclear weapons.
Is it effective? Yes.
Is it acceptable? Your call.
If you’re using open-field siege while fighting even numbers, it’ll destroy the fun of those ppl who likes to fight, challenge themselves. (And will make your enemy think you’re a coward.. not like anyone cares about what the enemy thinks.)
As it’s about OPEN field, it’s not about defending/attacking an objective, ‘cos it’s in the open, so the only thing you can get while mass-murdering them with siege is bags.
Maybe you can become rich with bags, but according to my experience, the same time spent in pve will give you more gold, so for me, playing wvw for fun is the only answer, therefore I’ll continue to run away from fights when there’s open field siege with even numbers, even if the siege is ours.
Edit: Also, just because this is an elementalist thread doesn’t mean we’re only looking at elementalist, and it also doesn’t mean we’re only looking at doing nerfs.
I think they’ll nerf necro and buff ele.

Ofc you can shoot farther behind the wall if you have more power, but then you have to change the power and the trajectory, which is not in game yet. As mortar/cata/treb, you can only change the power (which will change the trajectory).

Reset on Saturday morning? I am sorry, but who the heck thought this to be a good idea?
If it was evening I could at least partly unerstand, but mornings almost no one I know is even playing since people are busy with something called real life.
Well originally it wasnt Saturday morning, it was Saturday evening, but this thread convinced them to move it to earlier…
Ppl asked to move it back to Friday evening.. they moved it to Saturday morning… well, yea, the “thread asked for it”…
The bigger zerg has more supply, they can simply build AC to take out your AC/Treb/etc.. Before patch there were safe spots for your sieges, but now not even inner treb is safe, so…

How can you know? Have you played the new map when there are more than 10 people on it? Everyone’s hiding in EBG because they don’t want to try an empty map. I’m not saying take EBG away forever. Just try a week without it. People will go to the other maps and play around a little. Maybe they’ll have fun. Maybe they won’t. The point is that we’d actually know rather than have people saying “I hate the new map. It’s no fun. I don’t know what’s happening and there’s nobody to fight.”
We had guildraids there. Enemy had 3-4 guilds there. We had Q on the map. Enemy probably did, too. We were attacking keeps. We were defending keeps.
As of now, it’s not so fun as old BLs.
The WP-system makes defending not important, the Upgrade/Dolly-system makes draining supply a lot harder/more time consuming.
The “complex terrain” makes fights more static as a lot of groups are just waiting for the other one to push into your choke instead of you pushing into their choke.
The “complex keeps” makes scouting alone almost impossible, you just can’t check every gate/cataspot/trebspot before a blob can take down a paper gate/wall if it’s not trebs.
Cannons/Oils are still unusable deathtraps against competent enemies, a lot of mortars are… dunno, not so usable as on old BLs (There you could use a lot of mortars to defend keeps, even if S defended N gate. Now I just can’t find a lot of use for mortars, only as “free” counter-trebs.)
“Fun to fight bosses” and “mechanics” (like wind turrets) makes fights more annoying than tactical, you simply can’t see f.e. the wind turrets inside a particle-boom GW2 have during combat.
It just feels like (and my guild agreed) a HoT pve-map which was dropped mid-development and was made into a wvw map.
And the enormous secret-quaggan-kitten room just salt into my wound, as it clearly was made with a lot of love, it’s awesome. Too bad I can’t say the same for the rest of the borderland from a WvW viewpoint.
What was A-Nets reason for changing the reset?
There are a couple of reasons for the change to reset time. One is for the overall quality of the game. The last few years we have been careful to not disrupt the WvW reset time but this has at times made it difficult for our team to address issues during reset day. This change will give our team an extra day of the week that they can use to respond to issues that may occur with WvW or any other area of the game if it is necessary. In the early days we wanted reset to be during a weekday to ensure we had people available to monitor the game at reset time, but at this point we have seen the ongoing stability of World vs. World and resetting on a weekday is no longer necessary.
Another reason is the emergent gameplay that has come from reset. It has become one of the most exciting times for WvW and we would really love for more players to have the opportunity to experience it. We have many more players logging in on Saturday than on Friday which means with this change many more people will be available to experience the rush of claiming objectives for their world during reset.
However, given the concerns posted here we will be moving the Saturday reset to earlier in the day to give most players the majority of the day to enjoy the start of the new match. Immediately after launch the new time will be 11am PDT / 2pm EDT (6 pm UTC) for NA and 11am BST / 12 pm CEST (10 am UTC) for EU. Keep in mind that the following week with the end of Daylight Savings Time / Summer Time the reset times will be pushed even earlier to 10am PST/ 1pm EST and 10am GMT / 11am CET.
Thank you for your feedback. We realize that no time we pick is going to work for everyone but this change is going to benefit even more players overall while at the same time giving us a little more breathing room to improve the quality of the game during the week.

Launching a game is an enormous undertaking and our teams need time to address any issues that come up. Therefore after launch we must move WvW reset to Saturday. We will keep resets on Saturday to address issues and once we are in the clear we will evaluate the best time for WvW reset both for us as a company as well as for our players.
Since it is clear that we cannot pick a time that will work for everyone, we will be maintaining our original plan of shifting reset by 24 hours, to Saturday evening. That time was based on data for when prime time occurs in each region.
After a few round of rage, Gaile said the final word as “We don’t care about WvW as long as PvE/eSportz are fine” in their dialect:

I think I said it pretty clearly, but due to repeated questions, I’ll say it again: The reset change initially was set for Saturday evening. There were an initial spate of comments along the lines of “We don’t like Saturday evening, so make it Saturday morning,” and the devs tried to accommodate those requests. Then, as it became clear that the majority of those expressing an opinion in this thread made it clear — between the two currently available options — that Saturday evening was preferable, that’s what the devs went with.
This isn’t a “take your choice from a multitude of options” for reasons that were made abundantly clear in the dev posts in this thread. At the present time, in order to properly manage the game (the whole game, not any single element), in order to properly focus on launch of the expansion pack, and in order to take into account other reasonable considerations, WvW reset will take place on Saturdays. It will take place on Saturday evening to accommodate the requests of the majority of those expressing an opinion here in this thread.
ACs are perfectly fine. What do you think an outnumbered server should use when defending a keep/tower against 3-4 times people than their own? Siege weapons are supposed to be used to one’s advantage and its not like there aren’t any counters. Eles’ AoEs can down an AC, a well placed ballista is a good counter, etc
@Coglin : it’s not because you was on a bad server with tons of troll that we have all sufer the same issue… On Piken we had some troll but not all the day… Even not all weeks..
And those players should be banned from WvW… Now all the community is punished because of those troll.
They successfully trolled the whole wvw community if the auto-upgrades were their doing!

I do not need to say anything specific. Folks are being aggressive toward anyone that does not join them in complaining about the changes. I, nor anyone else owe them any for of explanation. Until they settle down and accept it, they are denying and arguing anytime someone tried to comment to aid them.

Who said that wvw players are enjoying it and not enduring? I couldn’t find any source for it, and I personally hate megaserver even in pve.
Easy answer, not enough ppl playing, so you can’t have separate Qs or the waiting time would be too long. (And after the “fix”, you can’t even do other things while in Q like mindless pve-farm or dueling “in hotjoin”.)

…They have already stated they are refunding everything above 3 tags… Apparently in a big way if I understood it correctly. If you got 4 tags, you dont get a 100g refund – you get 300g! Free option of color they said. Presumably if you got 7 tags, you get another free color. Can anybody confirm that part? I’m guessing that if you dont choose a color but want gold, you only get their 100g worth. I may have completely misunderstood it though.

All of them are utilities.. not even one thing of our weapon skills are needed (well, if you have traited focus, then you can reflect.. but that’s meh)!

There are guilds testing Druid in raids (like CoN , afaik something like 2 druids for a 25 man raid), dunno if it’s better than an ele or not, dunno if it’s viable for gvg setups, but you sure can try it for normal/pug zergs.
All I can say on this is we have been talking about it internally and trying to come up with different solutions that make CC valuable without allowing players to “stun lock” creatures (which would be a very real problem if we did not have Defiance). I can’t say any more on that at this time, so here’s a better question for you:
If we removed Defiance, how would you propose a replacement that makes CC (interrupts, stuns, fears etc) valuable without creating a situation that allows players to CC a creature to death.
I think the “easiest” solution would be to get immunity to CC for the next X seconds after you got CC’d (would be nice for players too, but meh.. ), so you can’t chain CC but can rupt the important ones.
Actually as the boss get immunity to CC for a few seconds, if someone timed the CC wrong, the boss’ important skill cannot be rupted, which makes it a bit harder maybe but imo still better than the defiance we have now.

You can’t hit 11k hp on mesmer vizad lowest is 16k
Base health of mesmers is 15,182 , but with the stat-changes, it’ll be ~1k Vitality (if I’m not mistaken), so it will change from 5,922 (+ 926 Vit) to 5,922 (+ 1000 Vit), and ’cos “10 points of health per point of Vitality”, that means 15,922, which is a bit below 16k
But true, it’s more than 11k, that’s for thieves/guards/eles.
You can make gvg maps on the same principle where instead of distributing individuals you distribute units of players. But again as equally as possible.
You don’t want to run your 15 ppl guild against 100 in EBG, do you? It’s fun for 10 mins then you just leave because it’s pointless.
But my community is my server and I want to play with them.. well, except a few :P
You probably don’t know the feeling of seeing familiar names/guildtags in a pugraid, you know them ‘cos you’re playing with them for months..
If the matchmaking was working and/or If the PPT-system was less coverage-dependent, it would be almost no-problem as servers with similar strength would fight each other.
Now if we have empty servers, that’s another problem. You can ofc make Alliances, but that’s just renaming the servers, and temporary groups are too pointless for me. I’m fighting for my server, my community, not for a name assigned to me by an algorithm.
It can make fun Fights but not fun WvW Matchups.
I’m all for a gvg/fight “queue”/matchmaking place/map/system, but not instead of wvw.

Certain “small mobs” are “knocked back” a little when you damage them, maybe that’s what you are talking about?
In sPvP you can unlock them for ~5g and you don’t even need HoT for it.
Dunno about pve/wvw, prolly some random HoT recipe in the jungle or elite-spec mastery track..
I’m deadly serious target lock on would make the grenades much more deadly.
You forgot one thing: It would be much more deadly for the engineer

As long as grenade’s speed is not the same as a traited ranger’s bow, I vote NO for target lock.

We all know that scouting/dolly escorting is one of the most important job, and most of the time gives you a negative profit as you have to upgrade camps, towers, keeps, drop (defensive) sieges. (And now even the supply trap costs gold, too.)
New Account bound currency called something like Badge of the Supporter (BotS).
You can get it for successful defensive events and dolly escorting. (Maybe exclude SM, as it’s tagged almost all the time, too easy to “farm” defensive events there. EotM is not a problem as ppl are not defending there.)
You can use these BotS for:
-Purchasing Upgrades in objectives for BotS and not for Gold (with some nice GUI button you can choose).
-Purchasing a new (Acc-bound) Item which can give you back the Rune/Sigil from your WvW-gear but not materials. Even if the Rune/Sigil will get Acc-bound, I believe it’s still a needed Item.
-Maaaaybe you can purchase Acc-bound superior Runes/Sigils for BotS, you can’t sell them but at least you don’t have to pay 30-40-50g for your runes/sigils only. My only problem with it is that I fear they’ll use bots to get BotS and not actively Supporting your server.
-Purchasing Siege is not a good idea as you can sell them, same reason as above.

Right now this is not possible, meanwhile other class can use them underwater.

No no they can’t. The only other class in the game that has wells, (necro) cannot use them underwater. Just saying.
