you can’t give much protection via earth without tempest
You have to take powerful auras, and you only have two auras to share: one magnetic aura, and the auto proc frost aura if you take soothing ice. That’s not much. Especially since I can already give people protection anyway via arcane. I’d rather take Soothing Power for better healing (or cleansing water if heavy condition clear is needed), and then take fire or air to do nonzero damage
raiding while deaf is very difficult
If you don’t have tempest, go staff with water and arcane, and it doesn’t really matter what your last trait line is
good thing ascended gear can be stat swapped
Scepter and dagger apparently do basically the same amount of dps
because if you get a mainhand sword what are you going to put in your offhand?
shield pls
soothing mist is good for raids
bad for pvp
yeah, when I started trying to compensate for latency, my dps went way up (ele)
lel
this is all outside the scope of the original topic, though
If you have a necro in your party, give them your ice bow.
If you don’t, there’s no necro to give it to so don’t worry about it.
ez
The issue with base stats and sustain and such is how it allows the class to build. Ele has no baseline defenses at all, so pvp builds have to dedicate everything to survival. Meanwhile classes with tons of built in defense can build for damage, like necro and warrior.
I play elementalist 90% of the time
ele is versatile, can do a lot of things
you forgot sinister
why shouldn’t it be possible? The point of the enrage timer is merely to prevent people from effortlessly clearing the raid with tanky builds.
If you can survive through enrage, congrats, you know how to play properly. But it isn’t easy to do (measuring difficulty relative to clearing the boss with dps)
If you want to make the raids harder, enrage isn’t where you should be looking.

you can get an extra 320 precision from ranger + warrior party buffs, and you can get an extra 20 crit chance from fury, so 2270? solo precision for 100% crit in a party.
at 80, precision is 21 points per 1% crit chance
(edited by reikken.4961)
Why?
the only things that would really change are a few maps, like Kessex Hills, and a few rare events would be removed
A dedicated support ele is the best thing at keeping people alive. but they don’t provide any unique damage buffs. They can give a lot of might and a bit of fury, but the might/fury cap is easily reached by other classes, so they have no offensive buffing value in a min/maxed party. Therefore no one wants them.
and they can do some decent healing while doing solid damage by going air/water. And I’ve done a few raid runs with my guild a few times with running a pair of air/water eles. It was a pretty long time ago now, but it worked nicely. But why take fresh air auramancer when you can run damage-buffing druids? so, in general, no one does it. Druid gets you better party dps.
What arenanet should do is just give every class something unique. That’s the easiest way. My other tied for all time favorite MMO did this pretty well (Ragnarok Online), so every class was useful and used despite balance being otherwise horrible.

“All builds welcome” is a coin toss
I’d love to see more shatterstone buffs
not even joking
sandstorm is incredibly amazing against enemies that don’t have a breakbar (and useless against ones that do)
best skill ever
dust storm is also pretty great
but yeah if you want to be tanky, condi is far and away the best. Dire ele does better solo dps than berserker ele with defensive traits
turn on action camera
because anet made a really stupid change to pvp ascended
Should I swap my Traveler’s Runes tho?
Absolutely. Any build taking one of air, arcane, or tempest trait lines can have permanent swiftness. Staff or warhorn make it easier.
As for what you swap to, it depends on what you like most. Celestial has lots of defense already, so I’d go for more damage.
Flame Legion is probably best for general damage. Pack, Strength, and Balthazar are also good options.
Celestial is pretty good. does respectable damage and has a lot of defense. I wouldn’t say it’s outdated at all. But you could get something else if there are parts of it that you don’t want.
However what would be ideal would be to have an amulet that deals condi and power damage and a bit of sustain.
uhh…sage?
Why has sage amulet not been mentioned even once in this topic?
There’s only one problem with it, and that’s that you can’t use fresh air with it.
Wow! I have literally zero idea why either of you are, like, still playing this game. If you seriously believe that anet only make things worse and worse, wouldn’t this be the right time to, y’know, leave, before you hate it even more? O_o
you can only hate problems in things that you care about
It is!
Arenanet doesn’t like fast meteor showers, so they included a punishment in the recent skill balance update.
Sure, you can switch legends faster, but this doesn’t make up for it.
uhh why doesn’tq it? It’s a potential 33% more energy. same as the potential 33% faster skill spamming
every profession has self healing
but the best answer to this is probably warrior
huh? what happened to give ranger top single target dps?
Condi ranger isn’t quite the top dps but it is top tier.
yeah but what happened? last year it was like… mediocre at best. less dps than warrior
huh? what happened to give ranger top single target dps?
This isn’t an elementalist skill
All story elements, cutscenes and lore can be found on youtube or wiki. You aren’t missing anything.
All game elements can be found on youtube or wiki. Does that mean that we don’t need to play the game anymore?
yeah
if you don’t want to play it, don’t play it
if you do want to play it, play it.
if you want the story but don’t want to play it, watch it, and don’t play it
transforms that let you jump already let you glide
but I agree to enabling jump for most transforms
There are other seemingly simple things that I’d rather see them spend development time on, though, if adding this would take significant effort. but I don’t want to hijack this topic, so I won’t mention them

ele’s crit procs are weak and on long cooldowns, so precision isn’t very useful. I skip it in favor some some vitality. Ele’s low health pool makes vitality really nice. and if you’re running water, throw in some healing power too.
Do you refer mainly to Burning Precision in your first sentence? As I can’t find any other crit procs on a long cooldown, so that’d be a neat nice-to-know aspect.
burning precision, and arcane precision
Those are ele’s only crit procs, and they are on significant cooldowns. And the cooldown is not per-target. Even if you hit several enemies at once, you can only burn one of them at a time. Because of these things you’ll get most of the maximum potential just by having fury. And even if you had 100% crit chance and 100% burn duration, the maximum is 1.4 burn stacks across all targets. Compare to mesmer, ranger, rev, necro, warrior, engineer, all of which have on crit traits that have no cooldown and therefore scale linearly with precision.
It might be fine to throw a little precision into your build, especially if you don’t have good fury uptime, but you get severely diminishing returns.

nah, fresh air staff requires precise rotations. It’s less forgiving than normal fire staff.
I use some marauders with my zerk on ele. Have had no issues.
Everyone of any intelligence, irrespective of race knows that the only source of all intelligence, culture and sophistication on Tyria is the Charr, but then I would say that, I’m prejudiced … and a Charr.
As an asura player, I disagree. Only 60% of all intelligence, culture and sophistication on Tyria comes from the charr. The other races do provide some.
makes me sad because it’s so close but so far from what I’ve been wanting. The classes I play don’t get any benefit from precision on condition builds.
T2. reduce fiery greatsword to 60s
I like this one.
5. increase damage of shatterstone by 150-200%
I don’t think shatterstone needs to hit as hard as eviscerate (yet. give it a couple more years). but a 50% damage boost would be reasonable.
(edited by reikken.4961)
I’m betting that a sword will come with evades (or blocks)
I don’t see the problem with making people pay for it. It’s additional separately developed content.
creating a package deal for all of them once they’re all released sounds like a good move, though
been asking for this for a couple years now
as long as it’s disabled in any pvp setting
but even so, VFX makes bosses and the like hard enough to see as it is. I don’t want this problem to get worse.
shortening its duration so 100% uptime requires landing more than 1 burst every lol15seconds.
I like this solution.
but I like butt capes
hard to dodge 6 Coztic archers at a time tho
sure
dire fire/earth/tempest is a good build
probably fire/earth/arcane or water, and Rabid stats I’m guessing. (toughness for tankiness, condi for burns and bleeds, and precision to proc additional conditions.

depends on what you want to do. There are lots of different very effective builds
